Light gravitino dark matter: LHC searches and Hubble tension

The recent measurements of the cosmological parameter $H_0$ from the direct local observations and the inferred value from the Cosmic Microwave Background show $\sim 4 σ$ discrepancy. This may indicate new physics beyond the standard $Λ$CDM. We investigate the keV gravitino dark matter that has a small fraction of non-thermal component (e.g. from the late decay of NLSP bino) under various cosmological constraints. We find such a scenario is highly predictive and can be tested by searching for the dilepton plus missing energy events at the LHC. Besides, we also discuss its implication for Hubble tension, however, which can be reduced to $3σ$ level marginally.

Tilting pairs in extriangulated categories

Extriangulated categories were introduced by Nakaoka and Palu to give a unification of properties in exact categories and extension-closed subcategories of triangulated categories. A notion of tilting pairs in an extriangulated category is introduced in this paper. We give a Bazzoni characterization of tilting pairs in this setting. We also obtain Auslander-Reiten correspondence of tilting pairs which classifies finite $\mathcal{C}$-tilting subcategories for a certain self-orthogonal subcategory $\mathcal{C}$ with some assumptions. This generalizes the known results given by Wei and Xi for the categories of finitely generated modules over Artin algebras, thereby providing new insights in exact and triangulated categories.

CPM R-CNN: Calibrating Point-guided Misalignment in Object Detection

In object detection, offset-guided and point-guided regression dominate anchor-based and anchor-free method separately. Recently, point-guided approach is introduced to anchor-based method. However, we observe points predicted by this way are misaligned with matched region of proposals and score of localization, causing a notable gap in performance. In this paper, we propose CPM R-CNN which contains three efficient modules to optimize anchor-based point-guided method. According to sufficient evaluations on the COCO dataset, CPM R-CNN is demonstrated efficient to improve the localization accuracy by calibrating mentioned misalignment. Compared with Faster R-CNN and Grid R-CNN based on ResNet-101 with FPN, our approach can substantially improve detection mAP by 3.3% and 1.5% respectively without whistles and bells. Moreover, our best model achieves improvement by a large margin to 49.9% on COCO test-dev. Code and models will be publicly available.

Cosmic Ray Boosted Sub-GeV Gravitationally Interacting Dark Matter in Direct Detection

Detections of non-gravitational interactions of massive dark matter (DM) with visible sector so far have given null results. The DM may communicate with the ordinary matter only through gravitational interaction. Besides, the majority of traditional direct detections have poor sensitivities for light DM because of the small recoil energy. Thanks to the high energy cosmic rays (CRs), the light DM can be boosted by scattering with CRs and thus may be detected in the ongoing experiments. In this work, we derive the exclusion limits on the cosmic ray boosted sub-GeV DM with gravitational mediator from the Xenon1T data. It turns out that a sizable region of such a cosmic ray boosted DM can be excluded by the current data.

An Empirical Bayes Approach to Frequency Estimation

In this paper we show that the classical problem of frequency estimation can be formulated and solved efficiently in an empirical Bayesian framework by assigning a uniform a priori probability distribution to the unknown frequency. We discover that the a posteriori covariance matrix of the signal model is the discrete-time counterpart of an operator whose eigenfunctions are the famous prolate spheroidal wave functions, introduced by Slepian and coworkers in the 1960's and widely studied in the signal processing literature although motivated by a different class of problems. The special structure of the covariance matrix is exploited to design an estimator for the hyperparameters of the prior distribution which is essentially linear, based on subspace identification. Bayesian analysis based on the estimated prior then shows that the estimated center-frequency is asymptotically coincident with the MAP estimate. This stochastic approach leads to consistent estimates, provides uncertainty bounds and may advantageously supersede standard parametric estimation methods which are based on iterative optimization algorithms of local nature. Simulations show that the approach is quite promising and seems to compare favorably with some classical methods.

Simple model for large CP violation in charm decays, B-physics anomalies, muon g-2, and Dark Matter

We present a minimal extension of the Standard Model that can simultaneously account for the anomalies in semi-leptonic B meson decays and the muon g-2, give large CP violation in charm decays (up to the value recently measured by LHCb), and provide thermal-relic dark matter, while evading all constraints set by other flavour observables, LHC searches, and dark matter experiments. This is achieved by introducing only four new fields: a vectorlike quark, a vectorlike lepton, and two scalar fields (a singlet and a doublet) that mix due to the electroweak symmetry breaking and provide the dark matter candidate. The singlet-doublet mixing induces chirally-enhanced dipole transitions, which are crucial for the explanation of the muon g-2 discrepancy and the large charm CP violation, and allows to achieve the observed dark matter density in wide regions of the parameter space.

The Light Sgoldstino Phenomenology: Explanations for the Muon $(g-2)$ Deviation and KOTO Anomaly

In this work, we study the long-standing experimental anomaly in muon $(g-2)$ and also recent anomalous excess in $K_L\to π^0+ν\barν$ at the J-PARC KOTO experiment with sgoldstino. After supersymmetry breaking, the interactions between quarks and sgoldstino ($s$) make the decays $K\to π+s$ sizable through loop diagrams, which affects the measurements of decays $K\to π+\mathrm{invisible}$. Furthermore, the couplings between photons and sgoldstino contribute to $Δa_μ$ as well as the bino-slepton contribution. With satisfying all known experimental constraints such as from NA62, E949, E137, Orsay, KTEV and CHARM experiments, these two anomalies can be explained simultaneously. The mass of CP-even sgoldstino is close to the neutral pion mass which does not violate the Grossman-Nir bound. The parameter space can be further tested in future NA62, DUNE experiments, as well as experiments in the LHC.

M$^2$-Spectral Estimation: A Relative Entropy Approach

This paper deals with M$^2$-signals, namely multivariate (or vector-valued) signals defined over a multidimensional domain. In particular, we propose an optimization technique to solve the covariance extension problem for stationary random vector fields. The multidimensional Itakura-Saito distance is employed as an optimization criterion to select the solution among the spectra satisfying a finite number of moment constraints. In order to avoid technicalities that may happen on the boundary of the feasible set, we deal with the discrete version of the problem where the multidimensional integrals are approximated by Riemann sums. The spectrum solution is also discrete, which occurs naturally when the underlying random field is periodic. We show that a solution to the discrete problem exists, is unique and depends smoothly on the problem data. Therefore, we have a well-posed problem whose solution can be tuned in a smooth manner. Finally, we have applied our theory to the target parameter estimation problem in an integrated system of automotive modules. Simulation results show that our spectral estimator has promising performance.

Approximation of stationary processes and Toeplitz Spectra

We study the approximation of stationary processes by a simple class of purely deterministic signals. This has an analytic counterpart in the approximation of symmetric positive definite Toeplitz matrices by submatrices of finite rank. We propose a notion of distance between them and prove a weak sense approximation result.

Sparticle Spectroscopy and Dark Matter in a $U(1)_{B-L}$ extension of MSSM

We consider a class of SUSY models in which the MSSM gauge group is supplemented with a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry and a global $U(1)_{R}$ symmetry. This extension introduces only electrically neutral states, and the new SUSY partners effectively double the number of states in the neutralino sector that now includes a blino (from $B-L$) and singlino from a gauge singlet superfield. If the DM density is saturated by a LSP neutralino, the model yields quite a rich phenomenology depending on the DM composition. The LSP relic density constraint provides a lower bound on the stop and gluino masses of about 3 TeV and 4 TeV respectively, which is testable in the near future collider experiments such as HL-LHC. The chargino mass lies between 0.24 TeV and about 2.0 TeV, which can be tested based on the allowed decay channels. We also find $m_{\tildeτ_{1}}\gtrsim 500$ GeV, and $m_{\tilde{e}},m_{\tildeμ},m_{\tildeν^{S,P}} \gtrsim 1$ TeV. We identify chargino-neutralino coannihilation processes in the mass region $0.24 \,{\rm TeV} \lesssim m_{\tildeχ_{1}^{0}}\approx m_{\tildeχ_{1}^{\pm}}\lesssim 1.5$ TeV, and also coannihilation processes involving stau, selectron, smuon and sneutrinos for masses around 1 TeV. In addition, $A_{2}$ resonance solutions are found around 1 TeV, and $H_{2}$ and $H_{3}$ resonance solutions are also shown around 0.5 TeV and 1 TeV . Some of the $A_{2}$ resonance solutions with $\tanβ\gtrsim 20$ may be tested by the $A/H\rightarrow τ^{+}τ^{-}$ LHC searches. While the relic density constraint excludes the bino-like DM, it is still possible to realize higgsino, singlino and blino-like DM for various mass scales. We show that all these solutions will be tested in future direct detection experiments such as LUX-Zeplin and Xenon-nT.

Extended Super BMS Algebra of Celestial CFT

We study two-dimensional celestial conformal field theory describing four-dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity/Yang-Mills systems and show that the underlying symmetry is a supersymmetric generalization of BMS symmetry. We construct fermionic conformal primary wave functions and show how they are related via supersymmetry to their bosonic partners. We use soft and collinear theorems of supersymmetric Einstein-Yang-Mills theory to derive the OPEs of the operators associated to massless particles. The bosonic and fermionic soft theorems are shown to form a sequence under supersymmetric Ward identities. In analogy with the energy momentum tensor, the supercurrents are shadow transforms of soft gravitino operators and generate an infinite-dimensional supersymmetry algebra. The algebra of $\mathfrak{sbms}_4$ generators agrees with the expectations based on earlier work on the asymptotic symmetry group of supergravity. We also show that the supertranslation operator can be written as a product of holomorphic and anti-holomorphic supercurrents.

Cluster automorphism groups and automorphism groups of exchange graphs

For a coefficient free cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}$, we study the cluster automorphism group $Aut(\mathcal{A})$ and the automorphism group $Aut(E_{\mathcal{A}})$ of its exchange graph $E_{\mathcal{A}}$. We show that these two groups are isomorphic with each other, if $\mathcal{A}$ is of finite type excepting types of rank two and type $F_4$, or if $\mathcal{A}$ is of skew-symmetric finite mutation type.

Support $τ_n$-tilting pairs

We introduce the higher version of the notion of Adachi-Iyama-Reiten's support $τ$-tilting pairs, which is a generalization of maximal $τ_n$-rigid pairs in the sense of Jacobsen-Jørgensen. Let $\mathcal C$ be an $(n+2)$-angulated category with an $n$-suspension functor $Σ^n$ and an Opperman-Thomas cluster tilting object. We show that relative $n$-rigid objects in $\mathcal C$ are in bijection with $τ_n$-rigid pairs in the $n$-abelian category $\mathcal C/{\rm add}Σ^n T$, and relative maximal $n$-rigid objects in $\mathcal C$ are in bijection with support $τ_n$-tilting pairs. We also show that relative $n$-self-perpendicular objects are in bijection with maximal $τ_n$-rigid pairs. These results generalise the work for $\mathcal C$ being $2n$-Calabi-Yau by Jacobsen-Jørgensen and the work for $n=1$ by Yang-Zhu.

Connecting between inflation and dark matter in models with gauged $Z_3$ symmetry

We investigate the possibility of unifying the inflation and dark matter physics in the minimal model for a complex scalar dark matter with gauged $Z_3$ symmetry. The dark local $U(1)$ symmetry is broken spontaneously into the $Z_3$ symmetry by the dark Higgs mechanism. As compared to dark matter models with $Z_2$ parity, the dark matter cubic self-interaction restricts the inflation with non-minimal couplings to take place beyond the pure dark matter direction and plays an important role in the loop corrections for the inflationary predictions as well as determining the correct dark matter relic density. Considering either of $2\rightarrow 2$, $3\rightarrow 2$ or forbidden channels to be a dominant production mechanism for dark matter, we show the viable parameter space of the model that is consistent with the theoretical and phenomenological constraints combined from inflation and dark matter.

Top quark as a probe of heavy Majorana neutrino at the LHC and future collider

Right-handed (RH) Majorana neutrinos play a crucial role in understanding the origin of neutrino mass, the nature of dark matter and the mechanism of matter-antimatter asymmetry. In this work, we investigate the observability of heavy Majorana neutrino through the top quark neutrinoless double beta decay process $t \to b \ell^+ \ell^+ j j$ at hadron colliders. By performing detector level simulation, we demonstrate that our method can give stronger limits on the light-heavy neutrino mixing parameters $|V_{eN, μN}|$ in the mass range of 15 GeV $< m_N <$ 80 GeV than other existing collider bounds.

Graph Neural Networks for Image Understanding Based on Multiple Cues: Group Emotion Recognition and Event Recognition as Use Cases

A graph neural network (GNN) for image understanding based on multiple cues is proposed in this paper. Compared to traditional feature and decision fusion approaches that neglect the fact that features can interact and exchange information, the proposed GNN is able to pass information among features extracted from different models. Two image understanding tasks, namely group-level emotion recognition (GER) and event recognition, which are highly semantic and require the interaction of several deep models to synthesize multiple cues, were selected to validate the performance of the proposed method. It is shown through experiments that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on the selected image understanding tasks. In addition, a new group-level emotion recognition database is introduced and shared in this paper.

Extended BMS Algebra of Celestial CFT

We elaborate on the proposal of flat holography in which four-dimensional physics is encoded in two-dimensional celestial conformal field theory (CCFT). The symmetry underlying CCFT is the extended BMS symmetry of (asymptotically) flat spacetime. We use soft and collinear theorems of Einstein-Yang-Mills theory to derive the OPEs of BMS field operators generating superrotations and supertranslations. The energy-momentum tensor, given by a shadow transform of a soft graviton operator, implements superrotations in the Virasoro subalgebra of $\mathfrak{bms_4}$. Supertranslations can be obtained from a single translation generator along the light-cone direction by commuting it with the energy-momentum tensor. This operator also originates from a soft graviton and generates a flow of conformal dimensions. All supertranslations can be assembled into a single primary conformal field operator on celestial sphere.
