Deformation of hypernuclei studied with antisymmetirzed molecular dynamics

An extended version of the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics to study structure of $p$-$sd$ shell hypernuclei is developed. By using an effective $ΛN$ interaction, we investigate energy curves of $^9_Λ$Be, $^{13}_Λ$C and $^{20,21}_Λ$Ne as function of nuclear quadrupole deformation. Change of nuclear deformation caused by $Λ$ particle is discussed. It is found that the $Λ$ in p-wave enhances nuclear deformation, while that in s-wave reduces it. This effect is most prominent in $^{13}_Λ$C. The possibility of the parity inversion in $^{20}_Λ$Ne is also examined.

Another mean field treatment in the strong coupling limit of lattice QCD

We discuss the QCD phase diagram in the strong coupling limit of lattice QCD by using a new type of mean field coming from the next-to-leading order of the large dimensional expansion. The QCD phase diagram in the strong coupling limit recently obtained by using the monomer-dimer-polymer (MDP) algorithm has some differences in the phase boundary shape from that in the mean field results. As one of the origin to explain the difference, we consider another type of auxiliary field, which corresponds to the point-splitting mesonic composite. Fermion determinant with this mean field under the anti-periodic boundary condition gives rise to a term which interpolates the effective potentials in the previously proposed zero and finite temperature mean field treatments. While the shift of the transition temperature at zero chemical potential is in the desirable direction and the phase boundary shape is improved, we find that the effects are too large to be compatible with the MDP simulation results.

Exotics from Heavy Ion Collisions

Discriminating hadronic molecular and multi-quark states is a long standing problem in hadronic physics. We propose here to utilize relativistic heavy ion collisions to resolve this problem, as exotic hadron yields are expected to be strongly affected by their structures. Using the coalescence model, we find that the exotic hadron yield relative to the statistical model result is typically an order of magnitude smaller for a compact multi-quark state, and larger by a factor of two or more for a loosely bound hadronic molecule. We further find that some of the newly proposed heavy exotic states could be produced and realistically measured at RHIC and LHC.

Entropy Production in Gluodynamics in temporal axial gauge in 2+1 dimensions

Entropy production in non-Abelian gauge theory is discussed in the limit of vanishing classical fields. Based on the Kadanoff-Baym equation with the leading order self-energy in the temporal axial gauge, the kinetic entropy is introduced and is proven to increase for a given self-energy. Numerical simulation of the Kadanoff-Baym equation for the non-Abelian gauge theory is performed in 2+1 dimensions. Starting from anisotropic distribution in momentum space, relaxation to isotropic distribution proceeds and the entropy is produced due to off-shell scattering of massive transverse polarization mode as expected from the proof of the H-theorem.

Chiral and deconfinement transitions in strong coupling lattice QCD

We investigate the QCD phase diagram based on the strong coupling expansion of the lattice QCD with one species of the staggered fermions at finite temperature (T) and chemical potential (mu). We analytically derive an effective potential including both chiral and deconfinement (Z_3) dynamics with finite coupling effects in mean-field approximations. We focus on Polyakov loop properties in whole T-mu plane, and study relations between the chiral and deconfinement crossovers. At a fixed large mu, sequencial rapid variations of the Polyakov loop are observed with increasing T. It is natural to interprete them as the "chiral induced" and "Z_3 induced" deconfinement crossovers.

Chiral and deconfinement transitions in strong coupling lattice QCD with finite coupling and Polyakov loop effects

We investigate chiral and deconfinement transitions in the framework of the strong coupling lattice QCD for color SU(3) with one species of unrooted staggered fermion at finite temperature and quark chemical potential. We take account of the leading order Polyakov loop terms as well as the next-to-next-to-leading order (1/g^4) fermionic terms of the strong coupling expansion in the effective action. We investigate the Polyakov loop effects by comparing two approximation schemes, a Haar measure method (no fluctuation from the mean field) and a Weiss mean-field method (with fluctuations). The effective potential is obtained in both cases, and we analytically clarify the Polyakov loop contributions to the effective potential. The Polyakov loop is found to suppress the chiral condensate and to reduce the chiral transition temperature at mu=0, and the chiral transition temperature roughly reproduces the Monte Carlo results at beta=2N_c/g^2 \lesssim 4. The deconfinement transition is found to be the crossover and first order for light (am_0 \lesssim 4 at beta=4) and heavy quark masses, respectively.

Effective Potential and Phase Diagram in the Strong-Coupling Lattice QCD with Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order and Polyakov Loop Effects

We investigate chiral and deconfinement transitions in the strong coupling lattice QCD for color SU(3). We combine the leading order Polyakov loop effective action of the strong coupling expansion and the next-to-next-to-leading order (1/g^4) fermionic effective action with one species of unrooted staggered fermion. Two approximation schemes are adopted to evaluate the Polyakov loop effects; a Haar measure method (no fluctuation from the mean field) and a Weiss mean-field method (with fluctuations). The Polyakov loop is found to suppress the chiral condensate and to reduce the chiral transition temperature at mu = 0. The chiral transition temperature roughly reproduces the Monte Carlo results in the region beta = 2N_c /g^2 < 4.

Effective Potential in the Strong-coupling Lattice QCD with Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order Effects

We derive an analytic expression of the effective potential at finite temperature (T) and chemical potential (mu) in the strong-coupling lattice QCD for color SU(3) including next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) effects in the strong coupling expansion. NNLO effective action terms are systematically evaluated in the leading order of the large dimensional (1/d) expansion, and are found to come from some types of connected two plaquette configurations. We apply the extended Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation and a gluonic dressed fermion technique to the effective action, and obtain the effective potential as a function of T, mu, and two order parameters; chiral condensate and a vector potential field. The next-to-leading order (NLO) and NNLO effects result in modifications of the wave function renormalization factor, quark mass and chemical potential. We find that T_{c,mu=0} and mu_{c,T=0} are similar to the NLO results, whereas the position of the critical point is sensitive to NNLO corrections.

Phase diagram and critical point evolution in NLO and NNLO strong coupling lattice QCD

We investigate the chiral phase transition in the strong coupling lattice QCD (SC-LQCD) at finite temperature and density with finite coupling effects. We adopt one species of staggered fermion, and develop an analytic formulation based on strong coupling and cluster expansions. We derive the effective potential as a function of two order parameters, the chiral condensate sigma and the vector potential ω_τ, in a self-consistent treatment of the next-to-leading order (NLO) and the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) effective action terms. Finite coupling effects lead to modifications of quark mass, chemical potential and the quark wave function renormalization factor. Finite coupling effects suppress the critical temperature at mu=0 (T_{c,mu=0}), while critical temperature at T=0 (mu_{c,T=0}) is not affected much. NNLO corrections does not significantly affect T_{c,mu=0} and mu_{c,T=0}, but the phase diagram shape including the position of the critical point is sensitive to the NNLO effects. Partially chiral restored matter is found to exist in NLO and NNLO SC-LQCD.

Phase diagram evolution at finite coupling in strong coupling lattice QCD

We investigate the chiral phase transition in the strong coupling lattice QCD at finite temperature and density with finite coupling effects. We adopt one species of staggered fermion, and develop an analytic formulation based on strong coupling and cluster expansions. We derive the effective potential as a function of two order parameters, the chiral condensate sigma and the quark number density $ρ_q$, in a self-consistent treatment of the next-to-leading order (NLO) effective action terms. NLO contributions lead to modifications of quark mass, chemical potential and the quark wave function renormalization factor. While the ratio mu_c(T=0)/Tc(mu=0) is too small in the strong coupling limit, it is found to increase as beta=2Nc/g^2 increases. The critical point is found to move in the lower T direction as beta increases. Since the vector interaction induced by $ρ_q$ is shown to grow as beta, the present trend is consistent with the results in Nambu-Jona-Lasinio models. The interplay between two order parameters leads to the existence of partially chiral restored matter, where effective chemical potential is automatically adjusted to the quark excitation energy.

Quarkyonic matter in lattice QCD at strong coupling

We study the phase diagram of quark matter at finite temperature and density in the strong coupling lattice QCD with one species of unrooted staggered fermions including finite coupling ($1/g^2$) effects for color SU($N_c$). We find that we may have partially chiral restored medium density matter at $N_c=3$, which would correspond to the quarkyonic matter suggested at large $N_c$.

Towards a Theory of Entropy Production in the Little and Big Bang

We propose a broadly applicable formalism for the description of coarse grained entropy production in quantum mechanical processes. Our formalism is based on the Husimi transform of the quantum state, which encodes the notion that information about any quantum state is limited by the experimental resolution. We show in two analytically tractable cases (the decay of an unstable vacuum state and reheating after cosmic inflation) that the growth rate of the Wehrl entropy associated with the Husimi function approaches the classical Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy. We also discuss various possible applications of our formalism, including the production of entropy in the early stages of a relativistic heavy ion collision.

Meson mass spectrum at finite temperature and density in the strong coupling limit of lattice QCD for color SU(3)

We investigate the meson mass spectrum in the strong coupling limit of lattice QCD with one species of staggered fermion for the SU(N_c) color gauge group, including N_c=3. We analytically derive meson masses as functions of temperature and chemical potential via chiral condensates. We show that meson masses quickly decrease to zero when the chemical potential or the temperature approaches to the critical value.

Flight Performance of the AKARI Cryogenic System

We describe the flight performance of the cryogenic system of the infrared astronomical satellite AKARI, which was successfully launched on 2006 February 21 (UT). AKARI carries a 68.5 cm telescope together with two focal plane instruments, Infrared Cameras (IRC) and Far Infrared Surveyor (FIS), all of which are cooled down to cryogenic temperature to achieve superior sensitivity. The AKARI cryogenic system is a unique hybrid system, which consists of cryogen (liquid helium) and mechanical coolers (2-stage Stirling coolers). With the help of the mechanical coolers, 179 L (26.0 kg) of super-fluid liquid helium can keep the instruments cryogenically cooled for more than 500 days. The on-orbit performance of the AKARI cryogenics is consistent with the design and pre-flight test, and the boil-off gas flow rate is as small as 0.32 mg/s. We observed the increase of the major axis of the AKARI orbit, which can be explained by the thrust due to thermal pressure of vented helium gas.

Cascade hypernuclear production spectra at J-PARC

We predict cascade hypernuclear production spectra expected in the forthcoming J-PARC experiment. In the Green's function method of the distorted wave impulse wave approximation with the local optimal Fermi averaging t-matrix, we can describe the Xi production spectra in the continuum and bound state region reasonably well. Predictions to the high resonlution spectra at J-PARC suggest hat we should observe Xi bound state peak structure in (K-,K+) spectra in light nuclear targets such as 12C and 27Al.

Hypernuclei and nuclear matter in a chiral SU(3) RMF model

We develop a chiral SU(3) RMF model for octet baryons, as an extension of the recently developed chiral SU(2) RMF model with logarithmic sigma potential. For Sigma-meson coupling, strong repulsion(SR) and weak repulsion(WR) cases are examined in existing atomic shift data of Sigma^-. In both of these cases, we need an attractive pocket of a few MeV depth around nuclear surface.

Analysis of (pi^{+-},K^+) and (K^-,K^+) hypernuclear production spectra in distorted wave impulse approximation

We study the hyperon-nucleus potential with distorted wave impulse wave approximation (DWIA) using Green's function method. In order to include the nucleon and hyperon potential effects in Fermi averaging, we introduce the local optimal momentum approximation of target nucleons. We can describe the quasi free Lambda, Sigma and Xi production spectra in a better way than in the standard Fermi averaged t-matrix treatments.

A chiral symmetric relativistic mean field model with logarithmic sigma potential

We develop a chiral symmetric relativistic mean field model with logarithmic sigma potential derived in the strong coupling limit of the lattice QCD. We find that both of the nuclear matter and finite nuclei are well described in the present model. The normal vacuum is found to have global stability at zero and finite baryon densities, and an equation of state with moderate stiffness (K ~ 280 MeV) is obtained. The binding energies and charge radii of Z closed even-even nuclei are well reproduced in a wide mass range from C to Pb isotopes, except for the underestimates of binding energies in several jj closed nuclei.
