Antisymmetrized Molecular Dynamics with Coherent State Pion and Its Application to Excited Spectrum of 12C

We have introduced coherent state neutral pion into Antisymmetrized Molecular Dynamics. With the aid of coherent state technique, it becomes possible to calculate transition matrix elements of the pion field operator and to study excited states containing pions. For large pion-nucleon coupling fpiN > 1.6, pions have a finite expectation value and bring large energy gain in 12C. We discuss two aspects of pionic effects in spectroscopy; the LS interaction like effect and the mixing of different nucleon parity states, which would modify low energy nuclear levels.

Fragment Distribution in Coexistence Phase of Supernova Matter

We propose a new nucleosynthesis process in which various nuclei are formed through the liquid-gas phase transition of supernova matter as a preprocess of the standard r-process, and study its possibility of realization qualitatively. In the relativistic mean field and statistical model calculations, we find that this process may take place and help the later r-process to proceed.

Four-Alpha Linear-Chain States in 16O

We study 4$α$ linear-chain states in 16O in comparison with 3$α$ states in 12C by using the Generator Coordinate Method within a microscopic $Nα$-cluster model. It is shown to be very important to solve relative motion of $α$-clusters by taking into account the orthogonality between the linear-chain states and other low-lying states including the ground state. For 12C, the 3$α$ chain state disappears because of this orthogonality. The $4α$ chain state in 16O, on the other hand, is hardly affected by low-lying states and persists to remain above the 4$α$ threshold. The calculated moment of inertia of the $4α$ linear-chain rotational band (88 keV) reproduces the experimentally suggested value qualitatively.

INCORPORATION OF QUANTUM STATISTICAL FEATURES IN MOLECULAR DYNAMICS

We formulate a method for incorporating quantum fluctuations into molecular- dynamics simulations of many-body systems, such as those employed for energetic nuclear collision processes. Based on Fermi's Golden Rule, we allow spontaneous transitions to occur between the wave packets which are not energy eigenstates. The ensuing diffusive evolution in the space of the wave packet parameters exhibits appealing physical properties, including relaxation towards quantum- statistical equilibrium.
