Galois Symmetry Induced by Hecke Relations in Rational Conformal Field Theory and Associated Modular Tensor Categories

Hecke operators relate characters of rational conformal field theories (RCFTs) with different central charges, and extend the previously studied Galois symmetry of modular representations and fusion algebras. We show that the conductor $N$ of a RCFT and the quadratic residues mod $N$ play an important role in the computation and classification of Galois permutations. We establish a field correspondence in different theories through the picture of effective central charge, which combines Galois inner automorphisms and the structure of simple currents. We then make a first attempt to extend Hecke operators to the full data of modular tensor categories. The Galois symmetry encountered in the modular data appears in the fusion and the braiding matrices as well, and yields isomorphic structures in theories related by Hecke operators.

Hecke Relations in Rational Conformal Field Theory

We define Hecke operators on vector-valued modular forms of the type that appear as characters of rational conformal field theories (RCFTs). These operators extend the previously studied Galois symmetry of the modular representation and fusion algebra of RCFTs to a relation between RCFT characters. We apply our results to derive a number of relations between characters of known RCFTs with different central charges and also explore the relation between Hecke operators and RCFT characters as solutions to modular linear differential equations. We show that Hecke operators can be used to construct an infinite set of possible characters for RCFTs with two independent characters and increasing central charge. These characters have multiplicity one for the vacuum representation, positive integer coefficients in their $q$ expansions, and are associated to a two-dimensional representation of the modular group which leads to non-negative integer fusion coefficients as determined by the Verlinde formula.

Exploring Invariants & Patterns in Human Commute time

In everyday life, the process of commuting to work from home happens every now and then. And the research of commute characteristics is useful for urban function planning. For humans, the commute of an individual seems revealing no regular universal patterns, but it is true that people try to find a satisfactory state of life regarding commute issues. Commute time and distance are most important indicators to measure the degree of this satisfaction. Marchetti states a certain regularity in human commute time distribution - specifically, it states that no matter when, where and how far away people live, they always tend to spend approximately the same average time for their daily commute. However, will the rapid development of cities nowadays as well as serious challenges brought by economic development affect this constant? If there are novel characteristics? We revisit these problems using fine grained communication data in two Chinese major cities during recent two years. The results indicate that the commute time has been slightly increased from Marchetti's constant with the development of society. People's overall travel budgets have been increased, more concretely speaking, for medium and long distance commuters, their endurance limit for commute time is enhanced during the passing years, and fluctuates around a constant; for short distance commuters, their commute time increases with the distance. Moreover, the population distribution in every commute distance shows strong cross-city similarity and does not change much over two years.

Short range asymptotic behavior of the wave-functions of interacting spin-half fermionic atoms with spin-orbit coupling: a model study

We consider spin-half fermionic atoms with isotropic Rashba spin-orbit coupling in three directions. The interatomic potential is modeled by a square well potential. We derive the analytic form of the asymptotic wave-functions at short range of two fermions in the subspace of zero net momentum and zero total angular momentum. We show that the spin-orbit coupling has perturbative effects on the short range asymptotic behavior of the wave-functions away from resonances. We argue that our conclusion should hold generally.
