AI Contextual Measurement for Recovering Individual and Group-Level Effects: Validation Against Survey Measures and an Occupational Application

Researchers increasingly use artificial intelligence to construct measures of social, organizational, and occupational characteristics that are absent from conventional surveys. We propose AICOME, AI COntextual MEasurement, a framework for evaluating whether AI-derived respondent-level measures can recover individual and group-level effects in contextual models. The key idea is that an AI measure constructed at the respondent level can be used to derive its group-level aggregate and its individual deviation, allowing researchers to estimate both between-group and within-group associations rather than treating AI measurement as response prediction alone. We validate the framework using the 2022 China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), where occupations provide the empirical grouping structure and several job-related survey variables provide validation benchmarks. For computer use, foreign-language use, weekly hours, and management responsibilities, we compare survey measures with AI-derived measures in response-level, model-level, contextual, and boundary-condition validations. The results show that AI contextual measurement can recover much of the contextual-model information contained in observed survey variables when rich respondent and job characteristics are available. Weekly hours provides the strongest validation case, with AI-derived measures reproducing the large negative between- and within-occupation associations with satisfaction observed in CFPS. The framework also identifies clear boundary conditions: performance deteriorates when information is restricted to occupation and basic demographics, and recovery is weaker when several related concepts are treated as simultaneously unobserved. The findings suggest that AICOME is most useful for recovering a limited number of theoretically important constructs from rich existing datasets.

CORGI: Consistency-Aware 3D Dog Reconstruction from a Single Image in the Wild

Reconstructing high-fidelity 3D models of highly articulated animals, such as dogs, from a single in-the-wild image remains a formidable challenge. In this paper, we introduce CORGI, a novel framework for consistency-aware 3D dog reconstruction from a single unconstrained image that completely eliminates the need for 3D supervision. To overcome generative inconsistencies and the lack of multi-view capture, our pipeline introduces three core components. First, we propose a Canonical-Driven Orbital Generation (CDOG) strategy, utilizing specialized Canonical and Orbit LoRAs to normalize arbitrary input poses and synthesize reliable 360-degree video observations. Second, we design a Consistency-aware Deformable 3DGS (CA-3DGS) module that anchors on a D-SMAL prior, explicitly modeling per-view generative errors through dedicated neural deformation fields to learn accurate vertex-level displacements. Finally, to eliminate structural distortions and recover high-frequency details, we introduce a self-supervised Deformation-Conditioned Generative Repair (DCGR) module. Extensive experiments demonstrate that CORGI achieves state-of-the-art performance, generalizing seamlessly across diverse dog breeds to produce geometrically accurate, visually coherent, and fully animatable 3D assets ready for downstream applications.

The Stack Search Tests on FAST Data: Discovery of Six Faint Isolated Millisecond Pulsars in NGC 6517 and NGC 7078 (M15)

We report the discovery of six faint millisecond pulsars (MSPs) in the globular clusters NGC 6517 and NGC 7078 (M15) using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). These discoveries were enabled by stacking power spectra from multiple observations, a method that effectively boosts the signal-to-noise ratio of faint sources. In NGC 6517, we identified four new MSPs (NGC 6517S-V) with spin periods ranging from 3.68 to 6.02 ms and dispersion measures (DMs) between 182.45 and 182.85 pc cm^-3. In M15, two additional MSPs (M15M and M15N) were discovered, with spin periods of 4.83 and 9.28 ms, and DMs of 67.89 and 66.65 pc cm^-3, respectively. A phase-coherent timing solution has been obtained for M15M; however, sparse detection rates currently preclude phase-connected solutions for the remaining five pulsars. Current timing parameters suggest all six MSPs are isolated, which is consistent with the expected pulsar populations in core-collapsed globular clusters. Notably, pulsars M15N, NGC 6517U, and NGC 6517V eluded detection by standard frequency-domain searches (e.g., PRESTO-based) and the Fast Folding Algorithm, demonstrating that the stack search technique significantly enhances detection sensitivity to inherently faint pulsar signals.

Targeted Bit-Flip Attacks on LLM-Based Agents

Targeted bit-flip attacks (BFAs) exploit hardware faults to manipulate model parameters, posing a significant security threat. While prior work targets single-step inference models (e.g., image classifiers), LLM-based agents with multi-stage pipelines and external tools present new attack surfaces, which remain unexplored. This work introduces Flip-Agent, the first targeted BFA framework for LLM-based agents, manipulating both final outputs and tool invocations. Our experiments show that Flip-Agent significantly outperforms existing targeted BFAs on real-world agent tasks, revealing a critical vulnerability in LLM-based agent systems.

Semi-Supervised Domain Adaptation with Latent Diffusion for Pathology Image Classification

Deep learning models in computational pathology often fail to generalize across cohorts and institutions due to domain shift. Existing approaches either fail to leverage unlabeled data from the target domain or rely on image-to-image translation, which can distort tissue structures and compromise model accuracy. In this work, we propose a semi-supervised domain adaptation (SSDA) framework that utilizes a latent diffusion model trained on unlabeled data from both the source and target domains to generate morphology-preserving and target-aware synthetic images. By conditioning the diffusion model on foundation model features, cohort identity, and tissue preparation method, we preserve tissue structure in the source domain while introducing target-domain appearance characteristics. The target-aware synthetic images, combined with real, labeled images from the source cohort, are subsequently used to train a downstream classifier, which is then tested on the target cohort. The effectiveness of the proposed SSDA framework is demonstrated on the task of lung adenocarcinoma prognostication. The proposed augmentation yielded substantially better performance on the held-out test set from the target cohort, without degrading source-cohort performance. The approach improved the weighted F1 score on the target-cohort held-out test set from 0.611 to 0.706 and the macro F1 score from 0.641 to 0.716. Our results demonstrate that target-aware diffusion-based synthetic data augmentation provides a promising and effective approach for improving domain generalization in computational pathology.

CraftMesh: High-Fidelity Generative Mesh Manipulation via Poisson Seamless Fusion

Controllable, high-fidelity mesh editing remains a significant challenge in 3D content creation. Existing generative methods often struggle with complex geometries and fail to produce detailed results. We propose CraftMesh, a novel framework for high-fidelity generative mesh manipulation via Poisson Seamless Fusion. Our key insight is to decompose mesh editing into a pipeline that leverages the strengths of 2D and 3D generative models: we edit a 2D reference image, then generate a region-specific 3D mesh, and seamlessly fuse it into the original model. We introduce two core techniques: Poisson Geometric Fusion, which utilizes a hybrid SDF/Mesh representation with normal blending to achieve harmonious geometric integration, and Poisson Texture Harmonization for visually consistent texture blending. Experimental results demonstrate that CraftMesh outperforms state-of-the-art methods, delivering superior global consistency and local detail in complex editing tasks.

The FAST Globular Cluster Pulsar Survey (GC FANS)

By January 2025, 60 pulsars were discovered by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope globular cluster (GC) pulsar survey (GC FANS), with spin periods spanning 1.98 ms to 3960.72 ms. Of these, 55 are millisecond pulsars (MSPs; $P<30$ ms), while 34 are binaries with orbital periods spanning 0.12 days to 466.47 days. This paper describes GC FANS, a deep, thorough search for pulsars in 41 GCs in the FAST sky ($-14^\circ < \delta < 65^\circ$) and describes new discoveries in 14 of them. We present updated timing solutions for M92A, NGC 6712A, M71A, and M71E, all of which are ``spider'' pulsars with short orbital periods. We present new timing solutions for M71B, C, and D. With orbital periods of $\sim$466 and 378 days, M71B and M71C are the widest known GC binaries; these systems resemble the normal wide MSP-He WD systems in the Galactic disk. With a spin period of 101 ms, M71D is in an eccentric ($e\sim$0.63) orbit with an 11-day period and a massive companion; the system has a total mass of $2.63 \pm 0.08 \, M_{\odot}$. These features and its large characteristic age suggest it is a double neutron star system (DNS) formed via massive binary evolution early in the cluster's history, akin to Galactic disk DNSs--unlike other candidate GC DNSs, which typically form dynamically. A comparative analysis of GC pulsar populations within FAST's sky reveals that most clusters (10 of 14) resemble the Galactic disk MSP population, likely due to lower stellar densities.

Can AI Master Econometrics? Evidence from Econometrics AI Agent on Expert-Level Tasks

Can AI effectively perform complex econometric analysis traditionally requiring human expertise? This paper evaluates AI agents' capability to master econometrics, focusing on empirical analysis performance. We develop ``MetricsAI'', an Econometrics AI Agent built on the open-source MetaGPT framework. This agent exhibits outstanding performance in: (1) planning econometric tasks strategically, (2) generating and executing code, (3) employing error-based reflection for improved robustness, and (4) allowing iterative refinement through multi-round conversations. We construct two datasets from academic coursework materials and published research papers to evaluate performance against real-world challenges. Comparative testing shows our domain-specialized AI agent significantly outperforms both benchmark large language models (LLMs) and general-purpose AI agents. This work establishes a testbed for exploring AI's impact on social science research and enables cost-effective integration of domain expertise, making advanced econometric methods accessible to users with minimal coding skills. Furthermore, our AI agent enhances research reproducibility and offers promising pedagogical applications for econometrics teaching.

Searching for pulsars in Globular Clusters with the Fast Fold Algorithm and a new pulsar discovered in M13

We employed the Fast Folding Algorithm (FFA) on L-Band Globular Cluster (GC) observations taken with Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) to search for new pulsars, especially those with a long rotational period. We conducted a search across 16 GCs that collectively host 93 known pulsars, as well as 14 GCs that do not contain any known pulsars. The majority of these known pulsars were successfully re-detected in our survey. The few non-detections could be attributed to the high accelerations of these pulsars. Additionally, we have discovered a new binary millisecond pulsar, namely M13I (or PSR J1641+3627I) in GC M13 (or NGC 6205), and obtained its phase-coherent timing solution using observations spanning 6 years. M13I has a spin period of 6.37 ms, and an orbital period of 18.23 days. The eccentricity of the binary orbit is 0.064, with a companion mass range of approximately 0.45 to 1.37 M$_{\odot}$. The orbital properties of M13I are remarkably different from those of the other known pulsars in M13, indicating that this pulsar has undergone a different evolutionary path compared to the rest.

The FAST Discovery of a Millisecond Pulsar M15O (PSR J2129+1210O) Hidden in the Harmonics of M15A (PSR J2129+1210A)

We report the discovery of an isolated millisecond pulsar M15O (J2129+1210O) from the globular cluster M15 (NGC 7078) with a period of $\sim$11.06686 ms and a dispersion measure of $\sim$67.44 cm$^{-3}$ pc. Its spin period is so close to the 10th harmonic of the bright pulsar M15A ($\sim$11.06647 ms) that it was missed in previous pulsar search. We suggest adding the spectrum in the pulsar candidate diagnostic plot to identify new signals near the harmonics. M15O has the first spin frequency derivative and the second spin frequency derivative, being 1.79191(5) $\times$ $10^{-14}$ Hz $s^{-1}$ and 3.3133(6)$\times$ $10^{-23}$ Hz $s^{-2}$, respectively. Its projected distance from the optical center of M15 is the closest among all the pulsars in M15. The origin can be something from the center of the massive and core-collapsed globular cluster M15.

FAST Observation and Results for Core Collapse Globular Cluster M15 and NGC 6517

Radio astronomy is part of radio science that developed rapidly in recent decades. In the research of radio astronomy, pulsars have always been an enduring popular research target. To find and observe more pulsars, large radio telescopes have been built all over the world. In this paper, we present our studies on pulsars in M15 and NGC 6517 with FAST, including monitoring pulsars in M15 and new pulsar discoveries in NGC 6517. All the previously known pulsars in M15 were detected without no new discoveries. Among them, M15C was still detectable by FAST, while it is assumed to fade out due to precession [1]. In NGC 6517, new pulsars were continues to be discovered and all of them are tend to be isolated pulsars. Currently, the number of pulsars in NGC 6517 is 17, much more than the predicted before [2].

Energy Gap Modulation in Proximitized Superconducting Puddles of Graphene

We investigated proximity-induced superconductivity in a graphene-insulating InO bilayer system through gate-controlled transport measurements. Distinct oscillations in the differential conductance are observed across both the electron and hole doping regimes, with oscillation amplitudes increasing as the chemical potential moves away from the Dirac point. These findings are explained using a theoretical model of a normal-superconductor-normal (NSN) junction, which addresses reflection and transmission probabilities at normal incidence. From this model, we extract key parameters for the proximitized graphene, including the superconducting energy gap Delta and the effective length scale Ls of the superconducting regions. Near the Dirac point, we observe a minimal Ls and a maximal Delta, aligning with the theory that the gap in strongly disordered superconductors increases as the coherence length of localized pairs decreases. This suggests that spatial confinement in a low-density superconductor leads to an effective increase in the superconducting gap.

FFT-Enhanced Low-Complexity Near-Field Super-Resolution Sensing

In this letter, a fast Fourier transform (FFT)-enhanced low-complexity super-resolution sensing algorithm for near-field source localization with both angle and range estimation is proposed. Most traditional near-field source localization algorithms suffer from excessive computational complexity or incompatibility with existing array architectures. To address such issues, this letter proposes a novel near-field sensing algorithm that combines coarse and fine granularity of spectrum peak search. Specifically, a spectral pattern in the angle domain is first constructed using FFT to identify potential angles where sources are present. Afterwards, a 1D beamforming is performed in the distance domain to obtain potential distance regions. Finally, a refined 2D multiple signal classification (MUSIC) is conducted within each narrowed angle-distance region to estimate the precise location of the sources. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce the computational complexity of 2D spectrum peak searches and achieve target localization with high-resolution.

Timing and Scintillation Studies of Pulsars in Globular Cluster M3 (NGC 5272) with FAST

We present the phase-connected timing solutions of all the five pulsars in globular cluster (GC) M3 (NGC 5272), namely PSRs M3A to F (PSRs J1342+2822A to F), with the exception of PSR M3C, from FAST archival data. In these timing solutions, those of PSRs M3E, and F are obtained for the first time. We find that PSRs M3E and F have low mass companions, and are in circular orbits with periods of 7.1 and 3.0 days, respectively. For PSR M3C, we have not detected it in all the 41 observations. We found no X-ray counterparts for these pulsars in archival Chandra images in the band of 0.2-20 keV. We noticed that the pulsars in M3 seem to be native. From the Auto-Correlation Function (ACF) analysis of the M3A's and M3B's dynamic spectra, the scintillation timescale ranges from $7.0\pm0.3$ min to $60.0\pm0.6$ min, and the scintillation bandwidth ranges from $4.6\pm0.2$ MHz to $57.1\pm1.1$ MHz. The measured scintillation bandwidths from the dynamic spectra indicate strong scintillation, and the scattering medium is anisotropic. From the secondary spectra, we captured a scintillation arc only for PSR M3B with a curvature of $649\pm23 {\rm m}^{-1} {\rm mHz}^{-2}$.

FAST Discovery of Eight Isolated Millisecond Pulsars in NGC 6517

We present the discovery of 8 isolated millisecond pulsars in Globular Cluster (GC) NGC 6517 using the Five-Hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). The spin periods of those pulsars (namely PSR J1801-0857K to R, or, NGC 6517K to R) are all shorter than 10 ms. With these discoveries, NGC 6517 is currently the GC with the most known pulsars in the FAST sky. The largest difference in dispersion measure of the pulsars in NGC 6517 is 11.2 cm$^{-3}$ pc, the second among all GCs. The fraction of isolated pulsars in this GC (16 of 17, 94$\%$) is consistent with previous studies indicating an overabundance of isolated pulsars in the densest GCs, especially in those undergoing cluster core collapse. Considering the FAST GC pulsar discoveries, we modeled the GC pulsar population using the empirical Bayesian method described by Turk and Lorimer with the recent counts. Using this approach, we find that the expected number of potential pulsars in GCs seems to be correlated with the central escape velocity, hence, the GCs Liller 1, NGC 6441, M54 (NGC 6715), and $\omega$-Cen (NGC 5139) are expected to host the largest numbers of pulsars.

The discovery of three pulsars in the globular cluster M15 with the FAST

We present the discovery of three pulsars in the Globular Cluster (GC) M15 (NGC 7078) by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). PSR J2129+1210J (M15J) is a millisecond pulsar with a spin period of 11.84 ms and a dispersion measure of 66.68 pc cm-3. Both PSR J2129+1210K and L (M15K and L) are long-period pulsars with spin periods of 1928 ms and 3961 ms, respectively. M15L is the GC pulsar with the longest spin period known. The timing solutions of M15A to M15H are updated. As predicted by Ridolfi et al.(2018), the flux density of M15C keeps decreasing and the latest detection in our dataset was on December 20th, 2022. We have also detected M15I's signal for the first time since its discovery. Current timing suggests that it is an isolated pulsar.

Universal Voltage Fluctuations in Disordered Superconductors

The Aharonov-Casher effect is the analogue of the Aharonov-Bohm effect that applies to neutral particles carrying a magnetic moment. This can be manifested by vortices or fluxons flowing in trajectories that encompass an electric charge. These have been predicted to result in a persistent voltage which fluctuates for different sample realizations. Here we show that disordered superconductors exhibit reproducible voltage fluctuation, antisymmetrical with respect to magnetic field, as a function of various parameters such as magnetic field amplitude, field orientations and gate voltage. These results are interpreted as the vortex equivalent of the universal conductance fluctuations typical of mesoscopic disordered metallic systems. We analyze the data in the framework of random matrix theory and show that the fluctuation correlation functions and curvature distributions exhibit behavior which is the fingerprint of Aronov-Casher physics. The results demonstrate the quantum nature of the vortices in highly disordered superconductors both above and below $T_c$.

AC Measurement of the Nernst effect of thin films at low temperatures

We describe an alternating current method to measure the Nernst effect in superconducting thin films at low temperatures. The Nernst effect is an important tool in the understanding superconducting fluctuations and, in particular, vortex motion near critical points. However, in most materials, the Nernst signal in a typical experimental setup rarely exceeds a few $\mu$V, in some cases being as low as a few nV. DC measurements of such small signals require extensive signal processing and protection against stray pickups and offsets, limiting the sensitivity of such measurements to $>$5nV. Here we describe a method utilizing a one-heater-two-thermometer setup with the heating element and thermometers fabricated on-chip with the sample, which helped to reduce thermal load and temperature lag between the substrate and thermometer. Using AC heating power and 2$\omega$ measurement, we are able to achieve sub-nanovolt sensitivity in 20-30nm MoGe thin films on glass substrate, compared to a sensitivity of $\sim$9nV using DC techniques on the same setup.
