Omni-frequency Channel-selection Representations for Unsupervised Anomaly Detection

Density-based and classification-based methods have ruled unsupervised anomaly detection in recent years, while reconstruction-based methods are rarely mentioned for the poor reconstruction ability and low performance. However, the latter requires no costly extra training samples for the unsupervised training that is more practical, so this paper focuses on improving this kind of method and proposes a novel Omni-frequency Channel-selection Reconstruction (OCR-GAN) network to handle anomaly detection task in a perspective of frequency. Concretely, we propose a Frequency Decoupling (FD) module to decouple the input image into different frequency components and model the reconstruction process as a combination of parallel omni-frequency image restorations, as we observe a significant difference in the frequency distribution of normal and abnormal images. Given the correlation among multiple frequencies, we further propose a Channel Selection (CS) module that performs frequency interaction among different encoders by adaptively selecting different channels. Abundant experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our approach over different kinds of methods, e.g., achieving a new state-of-the-art 98.3 detection AUC on the MVTec AD dataset without extra training data that markedly surpasses the reconstruction-based baseline by +38.1 and the current SOTA method by +0.3. PANet: LiDAR Panoptic Segmentation with Sparse Instance Proposal and Aggregation

Reliable LiDAR panoptic segmentation (LPS), including both semantic and instance segmentation, is vital for many robotic applications, such as autonomous driving. This work proposes a new LPS framework named PANet to eliminate the dependency on the offset branch and improve the performance on large objects, which are always over-segmented by clustering algorithms. Firstly, we propose a non-learning Sparse Instance Proposal (SIP) module with the ``sampling-shifting-grouping" scheme to directly group thing points into instances from the raw point cloud efficiently. More specifically, balanced point sampling is introduced to generate sparse seed points with more uniform point distribution over the distance range. And a shift module, termed bubble shifting, is proposed to shrink the seed points to the clustered centers. Then we utilize the connected component label algorithm to generate instance proposals. Furthermore, an instance aggregation module is devised to integrate potentially fragmented instances, improving the performance of the SIP module on large objects. Extensive experiments show that PANet achieves state-of-the-art performance among published works on the SemanticKITII validation and nuScenes validation for the panoptic segmentation task.

SSC-RS: Elevate LiDAR Semantic Scene Completion with Representation Separation and BEV Fusion

Semantic scene completion (SSC) jointly predicts the semantics and geometry of the entire 3D scene, which plays an essential role in 3D scene understanding for autonomous driving systems. SSC has achieved rapid progress with the help of semantic context in segmentation. However, how to effectively exploit the relationships between the semantic context in semantic segmentation and geometric structure in scene completion remains under exploration. In this paper, we propose to solve outdoor SSC from the perspective of representation separation and BEV fusion. Specifically, we present the network, named SSC-RS, which uses separate branches with deep supervision to explicitly disentangle the learning procedure of the semantic and geometric representations. And a BEV fusion network equipped with the proposed Adaptive Representation Fusion (ARF) module is presented to aggregate the multi-scale features effectively and efficiently. Due to the low computational burden and powerful representation ability, our model has good generality while running in real-time. Extensive experiments on SemanticKITTI demonstrate our SSC-RS achieves state-of-the-art performance.

A Survey on Reinforcement Learning for Recommender Systems

Recommender systems have been widely applied in different real-life scenarios to help us find useful information. In particular, Reinforcement Learning (RL) based recommender systems have become an emerging research topic in recent years, owing to the interactive nature and autonomous learning ability. Empirical results show that RL-based recommendation methods often surpass most of supervised learning methods. Nevertheless, there are various challenges of applying RL in recommender systems. To understand the challenges and relevant solutions, there should be a reference for researchers and practitioners working on RL-based recommender systems. To this end, we firstly provide a thorough overview, comparisons, and summarization of RL approaches applied in four typical recommendation scenarios, including interactive recommendation, conversational recommendatin, sequential recommendation, and explainable recommendation. Furthermore, we systematically analyze the challenges and relevant solutions on the basis of existing literature. Finally, under discussion for open issues of RL and its limitations of recommender systems, we highlight some potential research directions in this field.

ViG-UNet: Vision Graph Neural Networks for Medical Image Segmentation

Deep neural networks have been widely used in medical image analysis and medical image segmentation is one of the most important tasks. U-shaped neural networks with encoder-decoder are prevailing and have succeeded greatly in various segmentation tasks. While CNNs treat an image as a grid of pixels in Euclidean space and Transformers recognize an image as a sequence of patches, graph-based representation is more generalized and can construct connections for each part of an image. In this paper, we propose a novel ViG-UNet, a graph neural network-based U-shaped architecture with the encoder, the decoder, the bottleneck, and skip connections. The downsampling and upsampling modules are also carefully designed. The experimental results on ISIC 2016, ISIC 2017 and Kvasir-SEG datasets demonstrate that our proposed architecture outperforms most existing classic and state-of-the-art U-shaped networks.

On Routing Optimization in Networks with Embedded Computational Services

Modern communication networks are increasingly equipped with in-network computational capabilities and services. Routing in such networks is significantly more complicated than the traditional routing. A legitimate route for a flow not only needs to have enough communication and computation resources, but also has to conform to various application-specific routing constraints. This paper presents a comprehensive study on routing optimization problems in networks with embedded computational services. We develop a set of routing optimization models and derive low-complexity heuristic routing algorithms for diverse computation scenarios. For dynamic demands, we also develop an online routing algorithm with performance guarantees. Through evaluations over emerging applications on real topologies, we demonstrate that our models can be flexibly customized to meet the diverse routing requirements of different computation applications. Our proposed heuristic algorithms significantly outperform baseline algorithms and can achieve close-to-optimal performance in various scenarios.

Inductive Representation Learning in Temporal Networks via Mining Neighborhood and Community Influences

Network representation learning aims to generate an embedding for each node in a network, which facilitates downstream machine learning tasks such as node classification and link prediction. Current work mainly focuses on transductive network representation learning, i.e. generating fixed node embeddings, which is not suitable for real-world applications. Therefore, we propose a new inductive network representation learning method called MNCI by mining neighborhood and community influences in temporal networks. We propose an aggregator function that integrates neighborhood influence with community influence to generate node embeddings at any time. We conduct extensive experiments on several real-world datasets and compare MNCI with several state-of-the-art baseline methods on various tasks, including node classification and network visualization. The experimental results show that MNCI achieves better performance than baselines.

High-fidelity Generalized Emotional Talking Face Generation with Multi-modal Emotion Space Learning

Recently, emotional talking face generation has received considerable attention. However, existing methods only adopt one-hot coding, image, or audio as emotion conditions, thus lacking flexible control in practical applications and failing to handle unseen emotion styles due to limited semantics. They either ignore the one-shot setting or the quality of generated faces. In this paper, we propose a more flexible and generalized framework. Specifically, we supplement the emotion style in text prompts and use an Aligned Multi-modal Emotion encoder to embed the text, image, and audio emotion modality into a unified space, which inherits rich semantic prior from CLIP. Consequently, effective multi-modal emotion space learning helps our method support arbitrary emotion modality during testing and could generalize to unseen emotion styles. Besides, an Emotion-aware Audio-to-3DMM Convertor is proposed to connect the emotion condition and the audio sequence to structural representation. A followed style-based High-fidelity Emotional Face generator is designed to generate arbitrary high-resolution realistic identities. Our texture generator hierarchically learns flow fields and animated faces in a residual manner. Extensive experiments demonstrate the flexibility and generalization of our method in emotion control and the effectiveness of high-quality face synthesis.

Deep learning inter-atomic potential for irradiation damage in 3C-SiC

We developed and validated an accurate inter-atomic potential for molecular dynamics simulation in cubic silicon carbide (3C-SiC) using a deep learning framework combined with smooth Ziegler-Biersack-Littmark (ZBL) screened nuclear repulsion potential interpolation. Comparisons of multiple important properties were made between the deep-learning potential and existing analytical potentials which are most commonly used in molecular dynamics simulations of 3C-SiC. Not only for equilibrium properties but also for significant properties of radiation damage such as defect formation energies and threshold displacement energies, our deep-learning potential gave closer predictions to DFT criterion than analytical potentials. The deep-learning potential framework solved the long-standing dilemma that traditional empirical potentials currently applied in 3C-SiC radiation damage simulations gave large disparities with each other and were inconsistent with ab-initio calculations. A more realistic depiction of the primary irradiation damage process in 3C-SiC can be given and the accuracy of classical molecular dynamics simulation for cubic silicon carbide can be expected to the level of quantum mechanics.

SOC: Semantic-Assisted Object Cluster for Referring Video Object Segmentation

This paper studies referring video object segmentation (RVOS) by boosting video-level visual-linguistic alignment. Recent approaches model the RVOS task as a sequence prediction problem and perform multi-modal interaction as well as segmentation for each frame separately. However, the lack of a global view of video content leads to difficulties in effectively utilizing inter-frame relationships and understanding textual descriptions of object temporal variations. To address this issue, we propose Semantic-assisted Object Cluster (SOC), which aggregates video content and textual guidance for unified temporal modeling and cross-modal alignment. By associating a group of frame-level object embeddings with language tokens, SOC facilitates joint space learning across modalities and time steps. Moreover, we present multi-modal contrastive supervision to help construct well-aligned joint space at the video level. We conduct extensive experiments on popular RVOS benchmarks, and our method outperforms state-of-the-art competitors on all benchmarks by a remarkable margin. Besides, the emphasis on temporal coherence enhances the segmentation stability and adaptability of our method in processing text expressions with temporal variations. Code will be available.

Ion-selective scattering studied by the variable-energy electron irradiation of Ba$_{0.2}$K$_{0.8}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ superconductor

Low-temperature variable-energy electron irradiation was used to induce non-magnetic disorder in a single crystal of hole-doped iron-based superconductor, Ba$_{1-x}$K$_x$Fe$_2$As$_2$, $x=$0.80. To avoid systematic errors, the beam energy was adjusted non-consequently for five values between 1.0 and 2.5 MeV, whence sample resistance was measured in-situ at 22 K. For all energies, the resistivity raises linearly with the irradiation fluence suggesting the creation of uncorrelated dilute point-like disorder (confirmed by simulations). The rate of the resistivity increase peaks at energies below 1.5 MeV. Comparison with calculated partial cross-sections points to the predominant creation of defects in the iron sublattice. Simultaneously, superconducting $T_c$, measured separately between the irradiation runs, is monotonically suppressed as expected since it depends on the total scattering rate, hence total cross-section, which is a monotonically increasing function of energy. Our work confirms experimentally an often-made assumption of the dominant role of the iron sub-lattice in iron-based superconductors.

Generative Model Watermarking Suppressing High-Frequency Artifacts

Protecting deep neural networks (DNNs) against intellectual property (IP) infringement has attracted an increasing attention in recent years. Recent advances focus on IP protection of generative models, which embed the watermark information into the image generated by the model to be protected. Although the generated marked image has good visual quality, it introduces noticeable artifacts to the marked image in high-frequency area, which severely impairs the imperceptibility of the watermark and thereby reduces the security of the watermarking system. To deal with this problem, in this paper, we propose a novel framework for generative model watermarking that can suppress those high-frequency artifacts. The main idea of the proposed framework is to design a new watermark embedding network that can suppress high-frequency artifacts by applying anti-aliasing. To realize anti-aliasing, we use low-pass filtering for the internal sampling layers of the new watermark embedding network. Meanwhile, joint loss optimization and adversarial training are applied to enhance the effectiveness and robustness. Experimental results indicate that the marked model not only maintains the performance very well on the original task, but also demonstrates better imperceptibility and robustness on the watermarking task. This work reveals the importance of suppressing high-frequency artifacts for enhancing imperceptibility and security of generative model watermarking.

CodeVIO: Visual-Inertial Odometry with Learned Optimizable Dense Depth

In this work, we present a lightweight, tightly-coupled deep depth network and visual-inertial odometry (VIO) system, which can provide accurate state estimates and dense depth maps of the immediate surroundings. Leveraging the proposed lightweight Conditional Variational Autoencoder (CVAE) for depth inference and encoding, we provide the network with previously marginalized sparse features from VIO to increase the accuracy of initial depth prediction and generalization capability. The compact encoded depth maps are then updated jointly with navigation states in a sliding window estimator in order to provide the dense local scene geometry. We additionally propose a novel method to obtain the CVAE's Jacobian which is shown to be more than an order of magnitude faster than previous works, and we additionally leverage First-Estimate Jacobian (FEJ) to avoid recalculation. As opposed to previous works relying on completely dense residuals, we propose to only provide sparse measurements to update the depth code and show through careful experimentation that our choice of sparse measurements and FEJs can still significantly improve the estimated depth maps. Our full system also exhibits state-of-the-art pose estimation accuracy, and we show that it can run in real-time with single-thread execution while utilizing GPU acceleration only for the network and code Jacobian.

Correlation Pyramid Network for 3D Single Object Tracking

3D LiDAR-based single object tracking (SOT) has gained increasing attention as it plays a crucial role in 3D applications such as autonomous driving. The central problem is how to learn a target-aware representation from the sparse and incomplete point clouds. In this paper, we propose a novel Correlation Pyramid Network (CorpNet) with a unified encoder and a motion-factorized decoder. Specifically, the encoder introduces multi-level self attentions and cross attentions in its main branch to enrich the template and search region features and realize their fusion and interaction, respectively. Additionally, considering the sparsity characteristics of the point clouds, we design a lateral correlation pyramid structure for the encoder to keep as many points as possible by integrating hierarchical correlated features. The output features of the search region from the encoder can be directly fed into the decoder for predicting target locations without any extra matcher. Moreover, in the decoder of CorpNet, we design a motion-factorized head to explicitly learn the different movement patterns of the up axis and the x-y plane together. Extensive experiments on two commonly-used datasets show our CorpNet achieves state-of-the-art results while running in real-time.

Towards Understanding the Generalization of Graph Neural Networks

Graph neural networks (GNNs) are the most widely adopted model in graph-structured data oriented learning and representation. Despite their extraordinary success in real-world applications, understanding their working mechanism by theory is still on primary stage. In this paper, we move towards this goal from the perspective of generalization. To be specific, we first establish high probability bounds of generalization gap and gradients in transductive learning with consideration of stochastic optimization. After that, we provide high probability bounds of generalization gap for popular GNNs. The theoretical results reveal the architecture specific factors affecting the generalization gap. Experimental results on benchmark datasets show the consistency between theoretical results and empirical evidence. Our results provide new insights in understanding the generalization of GNNs.

FusionDepth: Complement Self-Supervised Monocular Depth Estimation with Cost Volume

Multi-view stereo depth estimation based on cost volume usually works better than self-supervised monocular depth estimation except for moving objects and low-textured surfaces. So in this paper, we propose a multi-frame depth estimation framework which monocular depth can be refined continuously by multi-frame sequential constraints, leveraging a Bayesian fusion layer within several iterations. Both monocular and multi-view networks can be trained with no depth supervision. Our method also enhances the interpretability when combining monocular estimation with multi-view cost volume. Detailed experiments show that our method surpasses state-of-the-art unsupervised methods utilizing single or multiple frames at test time on KITTI benchmark.

Multimodal-driven Talking Face Generation via a Unified Diffusion-based Generator

Multimodal-driven talking face generation refers to animating a portrait with the given pose, expression, and gaze transferred from the driving image and video, or estimated from the text and audio. However, existing methods ignore the potential of text modal, and their generators mainly follow the source-oriented feature rearrange paradigm coupled with unstable GAN frameworks. In this work, we first represent the emotion in the text prompt, which could inherit rich semantics from the CLIP, allowing flexible and generalized emotion control. We further reorganize these tasks as the target-oriented texture transfer and adopt the Diffusion Models. More specifically, given a textured face as the source and the rendered face projected from the desired 3DMM coefficients as the target, our proposed Texture-Geometry-aware Diffusion Model decomposes the complex transfer problem into multi-conditional denoising process, where a Texture Attention-based module accurately models the correspondences between appearance and geometry cues contained in source and target conditions, and incorporate extra implicit information for high-fidelity talking face generation. Additionally, TGDM can be gracefully tailored for face swapping. We derive a novel paradigm free of unstable seesaw-style optimization, resulting in simple, stable, and effective training and inference schemes. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our method.

First-principles calculations on the mechanical, electronic, magnetic and optical properties of two-dimensional Janus Cr$_2$TeX (X= P, As, Sb) monolayers

Janus materials possess extraordinary physical, chemical, and mechanical properties caused by symmetry breaking. Here, the mechanic properties, electronic structure, magnetic properties, and optical properties of Janus Cr$_2$TeX (X= P, As, Sb) monolayers are systematically investigated by the density functional theory. Janus Cr$_2$TeP, Cr$_2$TeAs, and Cr$_2$TeSb are intrinsic ferromagnetic (FM) half-metals with wide spin gaps and half-metallic gaps. Monte Carlo simulations based on the Heisenberg model estimate the Curie temperature (\emph{T}$_c$) of these monolayers are about 583, 608, and 597 K, respectively. Additionally, it is found that Cr$_2$TeX (X= P, As, Sb) monolayers still exhibit FM half-metallic properties under biaxial strain from -6% to 6%. At last, the Cr$_2$TeP monolayer has a higher absorption coefficient than the Cr$_2$TeAs and Cr$_2$TeSb monolayers in the visible region. The results predict that Janus Cr$_2$TeX (X= P, As, Sb) monolayers with novel properties have good potential for applications in future nanodevices.
