Quantum Landscape of Superconducting Diodes

This study maps the quantum landscape of superconducting diodes (SDs) \cite{nadeem23} onto the quantum technology architecture, which is currently constrained by fundamental challenges in control and scalability. In the existing non-integrated quantum technology hardware, control and scalability related issues emerge at two fronts: First, nonlinear and nonreciprocal circuit elements, which are essential building blocks for quantum processors, are often complex, bulky, and dissipative. Second, the temperature gradient between classical control electronics ($T_C\gtrsim$ K), which is also dissipative, and the quantum processor at cryogenic temperatures ($T_Q\sim$ mK) makes scalability even more challenging. The main focus is to reveal how the built-in nonlinearity, nonreciprocity, and quantum functionalities of SDs are significant for on-chip integrated circuit quantum electrodynamics (c-QED), enabling scalable integration of noise-resilient qubit and qubit-interfaces for efficient power delivery, coherent control and memory, high-fidelity readout, and quantum-limited amplification. To this end, this study will also shed light on how thermodynamic constraints and field effects can be harnessed within a quantum-enhanced SD platform, thereby enabling thermal compatibility between classical and quantum workflows, isothermal all-electrical control, and on-chip scalability. This perspective is expected to play a pivotal role in the advancement of superconducting circuit-based quantum hardware with temperature-matched classical, quantum, and hybrid workflows.

Reconfigurable Momentum-space vectorial lasing enabled by Quasi-BIC

Bound states in the continuum (BICs) have enabled lasers with rich momentum-space textures. However, the output patterns of quasi-BIC lasers remain largely static and confined to a few geometries. Here, a reconfigurable momentum-space vectorial laser was proposed based on two-dimensional photonic crystal. By selectively exciting quasi-BIC modes, we identify the geometric asymmetry factors favoring single BIC, dual-BIC, and radiative mode with BIC operation. This approach yields vectorial lasing with characteristic patterns lasing in momentum space of bidirectional double lobes (BDL), radially polarized ring with BDL, azimuthally polarized ring with BDL, and linearly polarized spot with BDL. Importantly, reversible switching between a single donut and a donut with BDL was achieved in the same device by varying the pump energy density. Our work establishes a compact, versatile platform for reconfigurable vectorial lasers, with potential applications in tunable optical tweezers, super-resolution imaging, and on-chip optical interconnects.

Rethinking Retrieval-Augmentation as Synthesis: A Query-Aware Context Merging Approach

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) enables Large Language Models (LLMs) to extend their existing knowledge by dynamically incorporating external information. However, practical deployment is fundamentally constrained by the LLM's finite context window, forcing a trade-off between information sufficiency and token consumption. Standard pipelines address this via a retrieve-then-select strategy, typically retaining only the top-k chunks based on relevance. Nevertheless, this approach is suboptimal: it inherently truncates critical bridging evidence located in the long tail of the relevance distribution, while simultaneously wasting the token budget on semantically redundant high-ranking chunks. In this paper, we rethink retrieval-augmentation as a dynamic optimization problem aimed at maximizing information density. We propose MergeRAG, a novel framework that shifts the paradigm from static filtering to query-aware synthesis. MergeRAG employs a scoring agent to restructure retrieved contexts through a dual-pathway mechanism: 1) Symmetric Merging, which consolidates weak signals to recover lost bridging evidence; 2) Asymmetric Merging, which utilizes entropy-guided anchoring to eliminate redundancy without sacrificing semantic integrity. We further introduce a Hierarchical Parallel Merging strategy that mitigates information loss while maximizing computational parallelism. Extensive experiments on standard benchmarks demonstrate that MergeRAG significantly outperforms state-of-the-art RAG baselines, achieving up to 13.7 points improvement in F1 score and 11.5 points in Exact Match (EM), respectively.

Reconfigurable and Recyclable Low-Threshold Quasi-BIC Lasers via a Tunable polymer Coating

Reconfigurable and sustainable microcavity lasers are highly desirable for next-generation integrated photonics. Here, we report a recyclable, low-threshold quasi-bound state in the continuum (q-BIC) laser fabricated via low-cost, high-throughput interference lithography. By introducing a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) coating on a dye-doped photonic crystal, we suppress out-of-plane symmetry breaking, which reinforces optical confinement and reduces the lasing threshold. The q-BIC modes are further tuned through tailoring the refractive-index of the PVA layer by using Kramers-Kronig relation via Rhodamine 6G doping, demonstrating a wavelength shift of 7.14 nm and a sensitivity of 215 nm RIU as a sensing prob. More importantly, lasing modes are reversibly tuning via precisely controlling the coating thickness. Exploiting the dissolving and re-coating process, the laser is repeatedly reconfigured while maintaining performance. This work provides a sustainable and adaptive platform for sensing and reconfigurable photonic systems.

High-dimensional normal approximations for sums of Langevin Markov chains

Consider the well-known Langevin diffusion on $\mathbb{R}^d$ $$\mathrm{d} X_t = -\nabla U(X_t)\,\mathrm{d} t + \sqrt{2}\mathrm{d} B_t, $$ and its Euler-Maruyama discretization given by $$X_{k+1}=X_k-η\nabla U(X_k)+\sqrt{2η}ξ_{k+1},$$ where $η$ is the step size. Under mild conditions, the Langevin diffusion admits $π(\mathrm{d} x)\propto \exp(-U(x))\mathrm{d} x$ as its unique stationary distribution. In this paper, we mainly study the normal approximation of the normalized partial sum $$ W_n = η^{1/2} n^{-1/2} \left( \sum_{i=0}^{n-1} X_i- \int_{\mathbb{R}^d} x\,π(\mathrm{d} x) \right).$$ To the best of our knowledge, this work provides the first dimension-explicit convergence rates in high-dimensional settings. Our main tool is a novel upper bound for the 1-Wasserstein distance $W_1(W,γ)$ via the exchange pair approach, where $W$ is any random vector of interest and $γ$ is a $d$-dimensional standard normal random vector.

Infrared UAV Target Tracking with Dynamic Feature Refinement and Global Contextual Attention Knowledge Distillation

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) target tracking based on thermal infrared imaging has been one of the most important sensing technologies in anti-UAV applications. However, the infrared UAV targets often exhibit weak features and complex backgrounds, posing significant challenges to accurate tracking. To address these problems, we introduce SiamDFF, a novel dynamic feature fusion Siamese network that integrates feature enhancement and global contextual attention knowledge distillation for infrared UAV target (IRUT) tracking. The SiamDFF incorporates a selective target enhancement network (STEN), a dynamic spatial feature aggregation module (DSFAM), and a dynamic channel feature aggregation module (DCFAM). The STEN employs intensity-aware multi-head cross-attention to adaptively enhance important regions for both template and search branches. The DSFAM enhances multi-scale UAV target features by integrating local details with global features, utilizing spatial attention guidance within the search frame. The DCFAM effectively integrates the mixed template generated from STEN in the template branch and original template, avoiding excessive background interference with the template and thereby enhancing the emphasis on UAV target region features within the search frame. Furthermore, to enhance the feature extraction capabilities of the network for IRUT without adding extra computational burden, we propose a novel tracking-specific target-aware contextual attention knowledge distiller. It transfers the target prior from the teacher network to the student model, significantly improving the student network's focus on informative regions at each hierarchical level of the backbone network. Extensive experiments on real infrared UAV datasets demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms state-of-the-art target trackers under complex backgrounds while achieving a real-time tracking speed.

MagnifierSketch: Quantile Estimation Centered at One Point

In this paper, we take into consideration quantile estimation in data stream models, where every item in the data stream is a key-value pair. Researchers sometimes aim to estimate per-key quantiles (i.e. quantile estimation for every distinct key), and some popular use cases, such as tail latency measurement, recline on a predefined single quantile (e.g. 0.95- or 0.99- quantile) rather than demanding arbitrary quantile estimation. However, existing algorithms are not specially designed for per-key estimation centered at one point. They cannot achieve high accuracy in our problem setting, and their throughput are not satisfactory to handle high-speed items in data streams. To solve this problem, we propose MagnifierSketch for point-quantile estimation. MagnifierSketch supports both single-key and per-key quantile estimation, and its key techniques are named Value Focus, Distribution Calibration and Double Filtration. We provide strict mathematical derivations to prove the unbiasedness of MagnifierSketch and show its space and time complexity. Our experimental results show that the Average Error (AE) of MagnifierSketch is significantly lower than the state-of-the-art in both single-key and per-key situations. We also implement MagnifierSketch on RocksDB database to reduce quantile query latency in real databases. All related codes of MagnifierSketch are open-sourced and available at GitHub.

Blur-Robust Detection via Feature Restoration: An End-to-End Framework for Prior-Guided Infrared UAV Target Detection

Infrared unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) target images often suffer from motion blur degradation caused by rapid sensor movement, significantly reducing contrast between target and background. Generally, detection performance heavily depends on the discriminative feature representation between target and background. Existing methods typically treat deblurring as a preprocessing step focused on visual quality, while neglecting the enhancement of task-relevant features crucial for detection. Improving feature representation for detection under blur conditions remains challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel Joint Feature-Domain Deblurring and Detection end-to-end framework, dubbed JFD3. We design a dual-branch architecture with shared weights, where the clear branch guides the blurred branch to enhance discriminative feature representation. Specifically, we first introduce a lightweight feature restoration network, where features from the clear branch serve as feature-level supervision to guide the blurred branch, thereby enhancing its distinctive capability for detection. We then propose a frequency structure guidance module that refines the structure prior from the restoration network and integrates it into shallow detection layers to enrich target structural information. Finally, a feature consistency self-supervised loss is imposed between the dual-branch detection backbones, driving the blurred branch to approximate the feature representations of the clear one. Wealso construct a benchmark, named IRBlurUAV, containing 30,000 simulated and 4,118 real infrared UAV target images with diverse motion blur. Extensive experiments on IRBlurUAV demonstrate that JFD3 achieves superior detection performance while maintaining real-time efficiency.

XBOF: A Cost-Efficient CXL JBOF with Inter-SSD Compute Resource Sharing

Enterprise SSDs integrate numerous computing resources (e.g., ARM processor and onboard DRAM) to satisfy the ever-increasing performance requirements of I/O bursts. While these resources substantially elevate the monetary costs of SSDs, the sporadic nature of I/O bursts causes severe SSD resource underutilization in just a bunch of flash (JBOF) level. Tackling this challenge, we propose XBOF, a cost-efficient JBOF design, which only reserves moderate computing resources in SSDs at low monetary cost, while achieving demanded I/O performance through efficient inter-SSD resource sharing. Specifically, XBOF first disaggregates SSD architecture into multiple disjoint parts based on their functionality, enabling fine-grained SSD internal resource management. XBOF then employs a decentralized scheme to manage these disaggregated resources and harvests the computing resources of idle SSDs to assist busy SSDs in handling I/O bursts. This idea is facilitated by the cache-coherent capability of Compute eXpress Link (CXL), with which the busy SSDs can directly utilize the harvested computing resources to accelerate metadata processing. The evaluation results show that XBOF improves SSD resource utilization by 50.4% and saves 19.0% monetary costs with a negligible performance loss, compared to existing JBOF designs.

Asymmetric stress engineering of dense dislocations in brittle superconductors for strong vortex pinning

Large lossless currents in high-temperature superconductors (HTS) critically rely on dense defects with suitable size and dimensionality to pin vortices, with dislocations being particularly effective due to their one-dimensional geometry to interact extensively with vortex lines. However, in non-metallic compounds such as HTS with rigid lattices, conventional deformation methods typically lead to catastrophic fracture rather than dislocation-mediated plasticity, making it a persistent challenge to introduce dislocations at high density. Here, we propose an asymmetric stress field strategy using extrusion to directly nucleate a high-density of dislocations in HTS by activating shear-driven lattice slip and twisting under superimposed hydrostatic compression. As demonstrated in iron-based superconductors (IBS), atomic displacements of nearly one angstrom trigger the formation of tilted dislocation lines with a density approaching that of metals. With further structural refinement, these dislocations serve as strong pinning centers that lead to a fivefold enhancement in the current-carrying capacity of IBS at 33 T, along with low anisotropy and a large irreversibility field. This work not only establishes a scalable route to engineer pinning landscapes in HTS, but also offers a generalizable framework for manipulating dislocation structures in rigid crystalline systems.

Dynamically Switchable Polarization Lasing between q-BIC and Bragg Resonance Modes

Quasi-bound states in the continuum (q-BICs) enable low-threshold lasing through high-Q cavity modes, yet their polarization tunability remains constrained by nanostructure-imposed cavity symmetries. By engineering a microcavity with an optimized duty cycle (0.34), we demonstrate a polarization-switchable distributed feedback (DFB) laser with controlled emission transitions between dual off-Γ q-BIC lasing and single Γ-point Bragg resonance (BR) lasing through switching pump polarization. The switching mechanism shows unprecedented robustness in varying waveguide thickness and photonic crystal period of DFB structures. Our findings extend the capabilities of DFB lasers beyond their conventional limits, opening opportunities for nanophotonics, classical and quantum optics applications.

Oriented diameter of graphs with given domination number

Let $G$ be a connected bridgeless graph with domination number $γ$. The oriented diameter (strong diameter) of $G$ is the smallest integer $d$ for which $G$ admits a strong orientation with diameter (strong diameter) $d$. Kurz and Lätsch (2012) conjectured the oriented diameter of $G$ is at most $\lceil \frac{7γ+1}{2}\rceil$ and the bound is sharp. In this paper, we confirm the conjecture by induction on $γ$ through contracting an unavoidable alternative subgraph, which holds potential for future applications. Moreover, we show the oriented strong diameter of $G$ is at most $7γ-1$ by using the same recursive structure, and the bound is best possible.

Prospect for measurement of $C\!P$-violating observables in $B_s^0 \to D_s^{\mp} K^{\pm}$ decays at a future ${Z}$ factory

A precise determination of the CKM angle $γ$ from $B_s^0$ oscillations in $B_s^0 \to D_s^\mp K^\pm$ decays offers a critical test of the Standard Model and probes for new physics. We present a comprehensive study on the prospects of measuring $γ$ at a future Tera-$Z$ factory, utilizing the baseline detector concept of the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). A two-dimensional simultaneous fit framework, incorporating flavor tagging, decay time resolution modeling, and acceptance corrections, is developed using full Monte Carlo simulations of $B_s^0 \to D_s^\mp \left(\to K^\mp K^\pm π^\mp\right) K^\pm$ decays and inclusive background processes. The effective flavor tagging power reaches $23.6\%$, while the decay time resolution is determined to be $26\mathrm{\,fs}$. Projecting to full statistics of signal events across three dominant $D_s^-$ decay channels, we estimate a statistical precision of $σ(γ) = 0.69^\circ$, which corresponds to $4.1$ Tera-$Z$ boson equivalent data. This study establishes the feasibility of sub-degree level $γ$ measurements at a $Z$-factory, highlighting its unique advantages in time-dependent $C\!P$ violation studies through ultra-precise vertexing and background suppression capabilities.

A Heuristic Algorithm for Shortest Path Search

The Single-Source Shortest Path (SSSP) problem is well-known for the challenges in developing fast, practical, and work-efficient parallel algorithms. This work introduces a novel shortest path search method. It allows paths with different lengths to be extended in parallel at the cost of almost negligible repeated relaxations. A dynamic-stepping heuristic is proposed for the method to efficiently reduce the extended paths and the synchronizations. A traversal-optimization heuristic is proposed to improve the method by efficiently reducing the created paths and alleviating the load imbalance. Based on the method, the two heuristics are used to develop a practical SSSP algorithm, which tactfully reduces workload and overhead. The heuristics and the algorithm were evaluated on 73 real-world and synthetic graphs. The algorithm was also compared with five state-of-the-art SSSP implementations. On each GAP benchmark suite graph except Road, its speedup to the best achieved by these five implementations is 2.5x to 5.83x.

Conditional central limit theorems for exponential random graphs

In this paper, we study the Exponential Random Graph Models (ERGMs) conditioning on the number of edges. In subcritical region of model parameters, we prove a conditional Central Limit Theorem (CLT) with explicit mean and variance for the number of two stars. This generalizes the corresponding result in the literature for the Erdős--Rényi random graph. To prove our main result, we develop a new conditional CLT via exchangeable pairs based on the ideas of Dey and Terlov. Our key technical contributions in the application to ERGMs include establishing a linearity condition for an exchangeable pair involving two star counts, a local CLT for edge counts, as well as new higher-order concentration inequalities. Our approach also works for general subgraph counts, and we give a conjectured form of their conditional CLT.

Asterinas: A Linux ABI-Compatible, Rust-Based Framekernel OS with a Small and Sound TCB

How can one build a feature-rich, general-purpose, Rust-based operating system (OS) with a minimal and sound Trusted Computing Base (TCB) for memory safety? Existing Rust-based OSes fall short due to their improper use of unsafe Rust in kernel development. To address this challenge, we propose a novel OS architecture called framekernel that realizes Rust's full potential to achieve intra-kernel privilege separation, ensuring TCB minimality and soundness. We present OSTD, a streamlined framework for safe Rust OS development, and Asterinas, a Linux ABI-compatible framekernel OS implemented entirely in safe Rust using OSTD. Supporting over 210 Linux system calls, Asterinas delivers performance on par with Linux, while maintaining a minimized, memory-safety TCB of only about 14.0% of the codebase. These results underscore the practicality and benefits of the framekernel architecture in building safe and efficient OSes.

Tailoring Robust Quantum Anomalous Hall Effect via Entropy-Engineering

The development of quantum materials and the tailoring of their functional properties is of fundamental interest in materials science. Here, a new design concept is proposed for the robust quantum anomalous Hall effect via entropy engineering in 2D magnets. As a prototypical example, the configurational entropy of monolayer transition metal trihalide VCl$_3$ is manipulated by incorporating four different transition-metal cations [Ti,Cr,Fe,Co] into the honeycomb structure made of vanadium, such that all in-plane mirror symmetries, inversion and/or roto-inversion are broken. Monolayer VCl$_3$ is a ferromagnetic Dirac half-metal in which spin-polarized Dirac dispersion at valley momenta is accompanied by bulk states at the $Γ$-point and thus the spin-orbit interaction-driven quantum anomalous Hall phase does not exhibit fully gapped bulk band dispersion. Entropy-driven bandstructure renormalization, especially band flattening in combination with red- and blue-shifts at different momenta of the Brillouin zone and crystal-field effects, transforms Dirac half-metal to a Dirac spin-gapless semiconductor and leads to a robust quantum anomalous Hall phase with fully gapped bulk band dispersion and, thus, a purely topological edge state transport without mixing with dissipative bulk channels. These findings provide a paradigm for designing entropy-engineered 2D materials for the realization of robust quantum anomalous Hall effect and quantum device applications.
