Supernova luminosity powered by magnetar-disk system

Magnetars are one of the potential power sources for some energetic supernova explosions such as type I superluminous supernovae (SLSNe I) and broad-lined type Ic supernovae (SNe Ic-BL). In order to explore the possible link between these two subclasses of supernovae (SNe), we study the effect of fallback accretion disk on magnetar evolution and magnetar-powered SNe. In this scenario, the interaction between a magnetar and a fallback accretion disk would accelerate the spin of the magnetar in the accretion regime but could result in substantial spin-down of the magnetars in the propeller regime. Thus, the initial rotation of the magnetar plays a less significant role in the spin evolution. Such a magnetar-disk interaction scenario can explain well the light curves of both SNe Ic-BL and SLSNe I, for which the observed differences are sensitive to the initial magnetic field of the magnetar and the fallback mass and timescale for the disk. Compared to the magnetars powering the SNe Ic-BL, those accounting for more luminous SNe usually maintain faster rotation and have relatively lower effective magnetic fields around peak time. In addition, the association between SLSNe I and long gamma-ray bursts, if observed in the future, could be explained in the context of magnetar-disk system.

Optical and Ultraviolet Monitoring of the Black Hole X-ray Binary MAXI J1820+070/ASASSN-18ey for 18 Months

MAXI J1820+070 is a low-mass black hole X-ray binary system with high luminosity in both optical and X-ray bands during the outburst periods. We present extensive photometry in X-ray, ultraviolet, and optical bands, as well as densely-cadenced optical spectra, covering the phase from the beginning of optical outburst to $\sim$550 days. During the rebrightening process, the optical emission preceded the X-ray by 20.80 $\pm$ 2.85 days. The spectra are characterized by blue continua and emission features of Balmer series, He I, He II lines and broad Bowen blend. The pseudo equivalent width (pEW) of emission lines are found to show anticorrelations with the X-ray flux measured at comparable phases, which is due to the increased suppression by the optical continuum. At around the X-ray peak, the full width at half maximums (FWHMs) of H$_β$ and He II $λ$4686 tend to stabilize at 19.4 Angstrom and 21.8 Angstrom, which corresponds to the line forming region at a radius of 1.7 and 1.3 R_sun within the disk. We further analyzed the absolute fluxes of the lines and found that the fluxes of H$_β$ and He II $λ$4686 show positive correlations with the X-ray flux, favoring that the irradiation model is responsible for the optical emission. However, the fact that X-ray emission experiences a dramatic flux drop at t$\sim$200 days after the outburst, while the optical flux only shows little variations suggests that additional energy such as viscous energy may contribute to the optical radiation in addition to the X-ray irradiation.

Optical and spectral observations and hydrodynamic modelling of Type IIb Supernova 2017gpn

In this work we present the photometric and spectroscopic observations of Type IIb Supernova 2017gpn. This supernova was discovered in the error-box of LIGO/Virgo G299232 gravitational-wave event. We obtained the light curves in B and R passbands and modelled them numerically using the one-dimensional radiation hydrocode STELLA. The best-fit model has the following parameters: the pre-SN star mass and the radius are 3.5 Msun and 50 Rsun, respectively; the explosion energy is Eexp = 1.2 * 10^51 erg; the mass of radioactive nickel is M56Ni =0.11 Msun, which is totally mixed through the ejecta, the mass of the hydrogen envelope 0.06 Msun. Moreover, SN 2017gpn is a confirmed SN IIb that is located at the farthest distance from the center of its host galaxy NGC 1343 (i.e. the projected distance is about 21 kpc). This challenges the scenario of the origin of Type IIb Supernovae from massive stars.

A study of Si II and S II features in spectra of Type Ia supernova

We studied the spectral features of Si II $λλ$4130, 5972, 6355 and S II W-trough for a large sample of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia). We find that in NV (Normal-Velocity) subclass of SNe Ia, these features tend to reach a maximum line strength near maximum light, except for Si II $λ$5972. Spectral features with higher excitation energy, such as S II W-trough, are relatively weak and have relatively low velocity. SNe Ia with larger $Δ$m$_{15}$($B$) tend to have lower velocities especially at phases after maximum light. NV SNe show a trend of increasing line strength with increasing $Δ$m$_{15}$($B$), while 91T/99aa-like SNe show an opposite trend. Near maximum light, the absorption depth of Si II $λ$5972 shows the strongest correlation with $Δ$m$_{15}$($B$), while at early times the sum of the depths of Si II $λλ$4130 and 5972 shows the strongest correlation with $Δ$m$_{15}$($B$). The overall correlation between velocity and line strength is positive, but within NV SNe the correlation is negative or unrelated. In normal SNe Ia, the velocity-difference and depth-ratio of a longer-wavelength feature to a shorter-wavelength feature tend to increase with increasing $Δ$m$_{15}$($B$). These results are mostly well explained with atomic physics, but some puzzles remain, possibly related to the effects of the saturation, line competition or other factors.

Empirical Standards for Software Engineering Research

Empirical Standards are natural-language models of a scientific community's expectations for a specific kind of study (e.g. a questionnaire survey). The ACM SIGSOFT Paper and Peer Review Quality Initiative generated empirical standards for research methods commonly used in software engineering. These living documents, which should be continuously revised to reflect evolving consensus around research best practices, will improve research quality and make peer review more effective, reliable, transparent and fair.

The effect of aspherical stellar wind of giant stars on the symbiotic channel of type Ia supernovae

The progenitor systems accounting for explosions of type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) is still under debate. Symbiotic channel is one of the possible progenitor scenarios, in which the WDs in these systems increase in mass through wind accretion from their red giant companions. The mass-loss processes of the giants in the symbiotic systems could produce amount of circumstellar medium (CSM), and the detections of the interaction signals between SN ejecta and CSM can be used as an ideal way to distinguish the different progenitor models. However, the density distribution and geometric structure of the CSM around the symbiotic systems remain highly uncertain. By assuming that the tidal torque from binary interaction can increase the mass-loss rate of the red giant and cause the stellar wind concentrate towards the equatorial plane, we provide a simplified method to estimate the density and the degree of deviation from spherical symmetry of the CSM. Based on the calculations of the binary evolutions of symbiotic systems using stellar evolution code MESA, we obtained the parameter space for producing SNe Ia. We found that SNe Ia could originate from symbiotic systems with massive carbon-oxygen white dwarfs (CO WDs), while the half-opening angle of the stellar wind from red giant towards the WD varies with the binary evolution, resulting in the formation of surrounding CSM with different geometric structures. The corresponding properties of ejecta-CSM interactions may be examined by the spectropolarimetry observations in the future, from which one may find additional relationship between circumstellar environment of SNe Ia and their progenitor systems.

SN 2017hpa: A Nearby Carbon-Rich Type Ia Supernova with a Large Velocity Gradient

We present extensive, well-sampled optical and ultraviolet photometry and optical spectra of the Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) 2017hpa. The light curves indicate that SN 2017hpa is a normal SN Ia with an absolute peak magnitude of $M_{\rm max}^{B} \approx$ -19.12$\pm$0.11 mag and a post-peak decline rate \mb\ = 1.02$\pm$0.07 mag. According to the quasibolometric light curve, we derive a peak luminosity of 1.25$\times$10$^{43}$ erg s$^{-1}$ and a $^{56}$Ni mass of 0.63$\pm$0.02 $M_{\odot}$. The spectral evolution of SN 2017hpa is similar to that of normal SNe Ia, while it exhibits unusually rapid velocity evolution resembling that of SN 1991bg-like SNe Ia or the high-velocity subclass of SNe Ia, with a post-peak velocity gradient of $\sim$ 130$\pm$7 km s$^{-1}$ d$^{-1}$. Moreover, its early spectra ($t < -7.9$ d) show prominent \CII~$λ$6580 absorption feature, which disappeared in near-maximum-light spectra but reemerged at phases from $t \sim +8.7$ d to $t \sim +11.7$ d after maximum light. This implies that some unburned carbon may mix deep into the inner layer, and is supported by the low \CII~$λ$6580 to \SiII~$λ$6355 velocity ratio ($\sim 0.81$) observed in SN 2017hpa. The \OI~$λ$7774 line shows a velocity distribution like that of carbon. The prominent carbon feature, low velocity seen in carbon and oxygen, and large velocity gradient make SN 2017hpa stand out from other normal SNe Ia, and are more consistent with predictions from a violent merger of two white dwarfs. Detailed modelling is still needed to reveal the nature of SN 2017hpa.

The Peculiar Transient AT2018cow: A Possible Origin of A Type Ibn/IIn Supernova

We present our photometric and spectroscopic observations on the peculiar transient AT2018cow. The multi-band photometry covers from peak to $\sim$70 days and the spectroscopy ranges from 5 to $\sim$50 days. The rapid rise ($t_{\mathrm{r}}$$\lesssim$2.9 days), high luminosity ($M_{V,\mathrm{peak}}\sim-$20.8 mag) and fast decline after peak make AT2018cow stand out of any other optical transients. While we find that its light curves show high resemblance to those of type Ibn supernovae. Moreover, the spectral energy distribution remains high temperature of $\sim$14,000 K after $\sim$15 days since discovery. The spectra are featureless in the first 10 days, while some broad emission lines due to H, He, C and O emerge later, with velocity declining from $\sim$14,000 km s$^{-1}$ to $\sim$3000 km s$^{-1}$ at the end of our observations. Narrow and weak He I emission lines emerge in the spectra at $t>$20 days since discovery. These emission lines are reminiscent of the features seen in interacting supernovae like type Ibn and IIn subclasses. We fit the bolometric light curves with a model of circumstellar interaction (CSI) and radioactive decay (RD) of \Ni and find a good fit with ejecta mass $M_{\mathrm{ej}}\sim$3.16 M$_{\odot}$, circumstellar material mass $M_{\mathrm{CSM}}\sim$0.04 M$_{\odot}$, and ejected \Ni mass $M_{^{56}\mathrm{Ni}}\sim$0.23 M$_{\odot}$. The CSM shell might be formed in an eruptive mass ejection of the progenitor star. Furthermore, host environment of AT2018cow implies connection of AT2018cow with massive stars. Combining observational properties and the light curve fitting results, we conclude that AT2018cow might be a peculiar interacting supernova originated from a massive star.

Can Helium-detonation Model Explain the Observed Diversity of Type Ia Supernovae?

We study a sample of 16 Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) having both spectroscopic and photometric observations within 2 $-$ 3 days after the first light. The early $B-V$ colors of such a sample tends to show a continuous distribution. For objects with normal ejecta velocity (NV), the C~II $λ$6580 feature is always visible in the early spectra while it is absent or very weak in the high-velocity (HV) counterpart. Moreover, the velocities of the detached high-velocity features (HVFs) of Ca~II NIR triplet (CaIR3) above the photosphere are found to be much higher in HV objects than in NV objects, with typical values exceeding 30,000 km~s$^{-1}$ at 2 $-$ 3 days. We further analyze the relation between %velocities of Si~II~$λ$6355 at maximum, $v_{\rm Si,max}$, the velocity shift of late-time [Fe~II] lines ($v_{\rm [Fe~II]}$) and host galaxy mass. We find that all HV objects have redshifted $v_{\rm [Fe~II]}$ while NV objects have both blue- and redshifted $v_{\rm [Fe~II]}$. It is interesting to point out that the objects with redshifted $v_{\rm [Fe~II]}$ are all located in massive galaxies, implying that HV and a portion of NV objects may have similar progenitor metallicities and explosion mechanisms. We propose that, with a geometric/projected effect, the He-detonation model may account for the similarity in birthplace environment and the differences seen in some SNe Ia, including $B-V$ colors, C~II feature, CaIR3 HVFs at early time and $v_{\rm [Fe~II]}$ in the nebular phase. Nevertheless, some features predicted by He-detonation simulation, such as the rapidly decreasing light curve, deviate from the observations, and some NV objects with blueshifted nebular $v_{\rm [Fe~II]}$ may involve other explosion mechanisms.

TTPLA: An Aerial-Image Dataset for Detection and Segmentation of Transmission Towers and Power Lines

Accurate detection and segmentation of transmission towers~(TTs) and power lines~(PLs) from aerial images plays a key role in protecting power-grid security and low-altitude UAV safety. Meanwhile, aerial images of TTs and PLs pose a number of new challenges to the computer vision researchers who work on object detection and segmentation -- PLs are long and thin, and may show similar color as the background; TTs can be of various shapes and most likely made up of line structures of various sparsity; The background scene, lighting, and object sizes can vary significantly from one image to another. In this paper we collect and release a new TT/PL Aerial-image (TTPLA) dataset, consisting of 1,100 images with the resolution of 3,840$\times$2,160 pixels, as well as manually labeled 8,987 instances of TTs and PLs. We develop novel policies for collecting, annotating, and labeling the images in TTPLA. Different from other relevant datasets, TTPLA supports evaluation of instance segmentation, besides detection and semantic segmentation. To build a baseline for detection and segmentation tasks on TTPLA, we report the performance of several state-of-the-art deep learning models on our dataset. TTPLA dataset is publicly available at https://github.com/r3ab/ttpla_dataset

Adaptive Robust Quadratic Programs using Control Lyapunov and Barrier Functions

This paper presents adaptive robust quadratic program (QP) based control using control Lyapunov and barrier functions for nonlinear systems subject to time-varying and state-dependent uncertainties. An adaptive estimation law is proposed to estimate the pointwise value of the uncertainties with pre-computable estimation error bounds. The estimated uncertainty and the error bounds are then used to formulate a robust QP, which ensures that the actual uncertain system will not violate the safety constraints defined by the control barrier function. Additionally, the accuracy of the uncertainty estimation can be systematically improved by reducing the estimation sampling time, leading subsequently to reduced conservatism of the formulated robust QP. The proposed approach is validated in simulations on an adaptive cruise control problem and through comparisons with existing approaches.

Supernova 2018cuf: A Type IIP supernova with a slow fall from plateau

We present multi-band photometry and spectroscopy of SN 2018cuf, a Type IIP ("P" for plateau) supernova (SN) discovered by the Distance Less Than 40 Mpc survey (DLT40) within 24 hours of explosion. SN 2018cuf appears to be a typical Type IIP SN, with an absolute $V$-band magnitude of $-$16.73 $\pm$ 0.32 at maximum and a decline rate of 0.21 $\pm$ 0.05 mag/50d during the plateau phase. The distance of the object is constrained to be 41.8 $\pm$ 5.7 Mpc by using the expanding photosphere method. We use spectroscopic and photometric observations from the first year after the explosion to constrain the progenitor of SN 2018cuf using both hydrodynamic light curve modelling and late-time spectroscopic modelling. The progenitor of SN 2018cuf was most likely a red supergiant of about 14.5 $\rm M_{\odot}$ that produced 0.04 $\pm$ 0.01 $\rm M_{\odot}$ $\rm ^{56}Ni$ during the explosion. We also found $\sim$ 0.07 $\rm M_{\odot}$ of circumstellar material (CSM) around the progenitor is needed to fit the early light curves, where the CSM may originate from pre-supernova outbursts. During the plateau phase, high velocity features at $\rm \sim 11000\ km~s^{-1}$ are detected both in the optical and near-infrared spectra, supporting the possibility that the ejecta were interacting with some CSM. A very shallow slope during the post-plateau phase is also observed and it is likely due to a low degree of nickel mixing or the relatively high nickel mass in the SN.

Optical and Near-Infrared Observations of the Nearby Type Ia Supernova 2017cbv

Supernova (SN) 2017cbv in NGC 5643 is one of a handful of type Ia supernovae (SNe~Ia) reported to have excess blue emission at early times. This paper presents extensive $BVRIYJHK_s$-band light curves of SN 2017cbv, covering the phase from $-16$ to $+125$ days relative to $B$-band maximum light. SN 2017cbv reached a $B$-band maximum of 11.710$\pm$0.006~mag, with a post-maximum magnitude decline $Δm_{15}(B)$=0.990$\pm$0.013 mag. The supernova suffered no host reddening based on Phillips intrinsic color, Lira-Phillips relation, and the CMAGIC diagram. By employing the CMAGIC distance modulus $μ=30.58\pm0.05$~mag and assuming $H_0$=72~$\rm km \ s^{-1} \ Mpc^{-1}$, we found that 0.73~\msun $^{56}$Ni was synthesized during the explosion of SN 2017cbv, which is consistent with estimates using reddening-free and distance-free methods via the phases of the secondary maximum of the NIR-band light curves. We also present 14 near-infrared spectra from $-18$ to $+49$~days relative to the $B$-band maximum light, providing constraints on the amount of swept-up hydrogen from the companion star in the context of the single degenerate progenitor scenario. No $Paβ$ emission feature was detected from our post-maximum NIR spectra, placing a hydrogen mass upper limit of 0.1 $M_{\odot}$. The overall optical/NIR photometric and NIR spectral evolution of SN 2017cbv is similar to that of a normal SN~Ia, even though its early evolution is marked by a flux excess no seen in most other well-observed normal SNe~Ia. We also compare the exquisite light curves of SN 2017cbv with some $M_{ch}$ DDT models and sub-$M_{ch}$ double detonation models.

The Exotic Type Ic Broad-Lined Supernova SN 2018gep: Blurring the Line Between Supernovae and Fast Optical Transients

In the last decade a number of rapidly evolving transients have been discovered that are not easily explained by traditional supernovae models. We present optical and UV data on onee such object, SN 2018gep, that displayed a fast rise with a mostly featureless blue continuum around maximum light, and evolved to develop broad features more typical of a SN Ic-bl while retaining significant amounts of blue flux throughout its observations. The blue excess is most evident in its near-UV flux that is over 4 magnitudes brighter than other stripped envelope supernovae, but also visible in optical g$-$r colors at early times. Its fast rise time of $t_{\rm rise,V} \lesssim 6.2 \pm 0.8$ days puts it squarely in the emerging class of Fast Evolving Luminous Transients, or Fast Blue Optical Transients. With a peak absolute magnitude of M$_r=-19.49 \pm 0.23 $ mag it is on the extreme end of both the rise time and peak magnitude distribution for SNe Ic-bl. Only one other SN Ic-bl has similar properties, iPTF16asu, for which less of the important early time and UV data have been obtained. We show that the objects SNe 2018gep and iPTF16asu have similar photometric and spectroscopic properties and that they overall share many similarities with both SNe Ic-bl and Fast Evolving Transients. We obtain IFU observations of the SN 2018gep host galaxy and derive a number of properties for it. We show that the derived host galaxy properties for both SN 2018gep and iPTF16asu are overall consistent with the SNe Ic-bl and GRB/SNe sample while being on the extreme edge of the observed Fast Evolving Transient sample. These photometric observations are consistent with a simple SN Ic-bl model that has an additional form of energy injection at early times that drives the observed rapid, blue rise, and we speculate that this additional power source may extrapolate to the broader Fast Evolving Transient sample.

SN 2018zd: An Unusual Stellar Explosion as Part of the Diverse Type II Supernova Landscape

We present extensive observations of SN 2018zd covering the first $\sim450$\,d after the explosion. This SN shows a possible shock-breakout signal $\sim3.6$\,hr after the explosion in the unfiltered light curve, and prominent flash-ionisation spectral features within the first week. The unusual photospheric temperature rise (rapidly from $\sim 12,000$\,K to above 18,000\,K) within the earliest few days suggests that the ejecta were continuously heated. Both the significant temperature rise and the flash spectral features can be explained with the interaction of the SN ejecta with the massive stellar wind ($0.18^{+0.05}_{-0.10}\, \rm M_{\odot}$), which accounts for the luminous peak ($L_{\rm max} = [1.36\pm 0.63] \times 10^{43}\, \rm erg\,s^{-1}$) of SN 2018zd. The luminous peak and low expansion velocity ($v \approx 3300$ km s$^{-1}$) make SN 2018zd to be like a member of the LLEV (luminous SNe II with low expansion velocities) events originated due to circumstellar interaction. The relatively fast post-peak decline allows a classification of SN 2018zd as a transition event morphologically linking SNe~IIP and SNe~IIL. In the radioactive-decay phase, SN 2018zd experienced a significant flux drop and behaved more like a low-luminosity SN~IIP both spectroscopically and photometrically. This contrast indicates that circumstellar interaction plays a vital role in modifying the observed light curves of SNe~II. Comparing nebular-phase spectra with model predictions suggests that SN 2018zd arose from a star of $\sim 12\,\rm M_{\odot}$. Given the relatively small amount of $^{56}$Ni ($0.013 - 0.035 \rm M_{\odot}$), the massive stellar wind, and the faint X-ray radiation, the progenitor of SN 2018zd could be a massive asymptotic giant branch star which collapsed owing to electron capture.

Case Survey Studies in Software Engineering Research

Background: Given the social aspects of Software Engineering (SE), in the last twenty years, researchers from the field started using research methods common in social sciences such as case study, ethnography, and grounded theory. More recently, case survey, another imported research method, has seen its increasing use in SE studies. It is based on existing case studies reported in the literature and intends to harness the generalizability of survey and the depth of case study. However, little is known on how case survey has been applied in SE research, let alone guidelines on how to employ it properly. Aims: This article aims to provide a better understanding of how case survey has been applied in Software Engineering research. Method: To address this knowledge gap, we performed a systematic mapping study and analyzed 12 Software Engineering studies that used the case survey method. Results: Our findings show that these studies presented a heterogeneous understanding of the approach ranging from secondary studies to primary inquiries focused on a large number of instances of a research phenomenon. They have not applied the case survey method consistently as defined in the seminal methodological papers. Conclusions: We conclude that a set of clearly defined guidelines are needed on how to use case survey in SE research, to ensure the quality of the studies employing this approach and to provide a set of clearly defined criteria to evaluate such work.

Confidential Attestation: Efficient in-Enclave Verification of Privacy Policy Compliance

A trusted execution environment (TEE) such as Intel Software Guard Extension (SGX) runs a remote attestation to prove to a data owner the integrity of the initial state of an enclave, including the program to operate on her data. For this purpose, the data-processing program is supposed to be open to the owner, so its functionality can be evaluated before trust can be established. However, increasingly there are application scenarios in which the program itself needs to be protected. So its compliance with privacy policies as expected by the data owner should be verified without exposing its code. To this end, this paper presents CAT, a new model for TEE-based confidential attestation. Our model is inspired by Proof-Carrying Code, where a code generator produces proof together with the code and a code consumer verifies the proof against the code on its compliance with security policies. Given that the conventional solutions do not work well under the resource-limited and TCB-frugal TEE, we propose a new design that allows an untrusted out-enclave generator to analyze the source code of a program when compiling it into binary and a trusted in-enclave consumer efficiently verifies the correctness of the instrumentation and the presence of other protection before running the binary. Our design strategically moves most of the workload to the code generator, which is responsible for producing well-formatted and easy-to-check code, while keeping the consumer simple. Also, the whole consumer can be made public and verified through a conventional attestation. We implemented this model on Intel SGX and demonstrate that it introduces a very small part of TCB. We also thoroughly evaluated its performance on micro- and macro- benchmarks and real-world applications, showing that the new design only incurs a small overhead when enforcing several categories of security policies.

SN 2019ehk: A Double-Peaked Ca-rich Transient with Luminous X-ray Emission and Shock-Ionized Spectral Features

We present panchromatic observations and modeling of the Calcium-rich supernova 2019ehk in the star-forming galaxy M100 (d$\approx$16.2 Mpc) starting 10 hours after explosion and continuing for ~300 days. SN 2019ehk shows a double-peaked optical light curve peaking at $t = 3$ and $15$ days. The first peak is coincident with luminous, rapidly decaying $\textit{Swift}$-XRT discovered X-ray emission ($L_x\approx10^{41}~\rm{erg~s^{-1}}$ at 3 days; $L_x \propto t^{-3}$), and a Shane/Kast spectral detection of narrow H$α$ and He II emission lines ($v \approx 500$ km/s) originating from pre-existent circumstellar material. We attribute this phenomenology to radiation from shock interaction with extended, dense material surrounding the progenitor star at $r<10^{15}$ cm and the resulting cooling emission. We calculate a total CSM mass of $\sim$ $7\times10^{-3}$ $\rm{M_{\odot}}$ with particle density $n\approx10^{9}\,\rm{cm^{-3}}$. Radio observations indicate a significantly lower density $n < 10^{4}\,\rm{cm^{-3}}$ at larger radii. The photometric and spectroscopic properties during the second light curve peak are consistent with those of Ca-rich transients (rise-time of $t_r =13.4\pm0.210$ days and a peak B-band magnitude of $M_B =-15.1\pm0.200$ mag). We find that SN 2019ehk synthesized $(3.1\pm0.11)\times10^{-2} ~ \rm{M_{\odot}}$ of ${}^{56}\textrm{Ni}$ and ejected $M_{\rm ej} = (0.72\pm 0.040)~\rm{M_{\odot}}$ total with a kinetic energy $E_{\rm k}=(1.8\pm0.10)\times10^{50}~\rm{erg}$. Finally, deep $\textit{HST}$ pre-explosion imaging at the SN site constrains the parameter space of viable stellar progenitors to massive stars in the lowest mass bin (~10 $\rm{M_{\odot}}$) in binaries that lost most of their He envelope or white dwarfs. The explosion and environment properties of SN 2019ehk further restrict the potential WD progenitor systems to low-mass hybrid HeCO WD + CO WD binaries.
