DyPES-VLA: Learning Shared Dynamics Priors and Embodiment-Specific Control for Cross-Embodiment Manipulation

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have become a powerful paradigm for robot manipulation, but training a single generalist policy for heterogeneous robot embodiments remains an open problem. Existing methods have two main limitations. First, they underuse dynamics priors shared across diverse visual and interaction data, limiting cross-embodiment transfer. Second, they require extensive manual preprocessing to convert embodiment-specific actions into a common format. To overcome these limitations, we propose DyPES-VLA, a cross-embodiment VLA that learns shared Dynamics Priors and Embodiment-Specific control. First, we learn shared dynamics priors by training the vision-language model (VLM) with a future-prediction objective on cross-embodiment data, driving the shared query representation to capture object motion, contact, and interaction-induced scene changes. Second, an embodiment-specific Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) action head translates these shared dynamics priors into executable controls directly in each embodiment's native action space, without manually pre-aligning heterogeneous actions into a common format. This head shares attention layers to capture common temporal action structures, while its embodiment-specific feed-forward experts resolve the unique kinematic constraints and control semantics of distinct embodiments. As a generalist policy, our \ourmethod achieves state-of-the-art performance across simulation and real-world evaluations, reaching 98.0% success on LIBERO, 59.25% on RoboCasa-GR1, and 89.02% on RoboTwin~2.0.

Physical properties of RhGe and CoGe single crystals synthesized under high pressure

Chiral topological semimetals hosting multifold fermions and exotic surface states represent a frontier in topological materials research. Among them, noncentrosymmetric cubic B20 compounds-notably transition-metal silicides and germanides-offer a unique platform for realizing symmetry-protected topological phases and unconventional optoelectronic responses. Here, we report the physical properties of RhGe and CoGe single crystals with B20 structure in detail. Transport measurements reveal metallic behavior with characteristic Fermi-liquid scaling at low temperatures, while magnetization results confirm paramagnetism in both compounds. In addition, both of materials exhibit low carrier concentrations with small electronic specific heat coefficient, indicating their semimetal feature with weak electronic correlations. Such high-quality CoGe and RhGe single crystals provide a material platform to explore the evolution of multifold fermions and the instability of helicoid-arc surface states with spin-orbit coupling and surface environment in B20 material systems.

SSNet: Flexible and robust channel extrapolation for fluid antenna systems enabled by an self-supervised learning framework

Fluid antenna systems (FAS) signify a pivotal advancement in 6G communication by enhancing spectral efficiency and robustness. However, obtaining accurate channel state information (CSI) in FAS poses challenges due to its complex physical structure. Traditional methods, such as pilot-based interpolation and compressive sensing, are not only computationally intensive but also lack adaptability. Current extrapolation techniques relying on rigid parametric models do not accommodate the dynamic environment of FAS, while data-driven deep learning approaches demand extensive training and are vulnerable to noise and hardware imperfections. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a novel self-supervised learning network (SSNet) designed for efficient and adaptive channel extrapolation in FAS. We formulate the problem of channel extrapolation in FAS as an image reconstruction task. Here, a limited number of unmasked pixels (representing the known CSI of the selected ports) are used to extrapolate the masked pixels (the CSI of unselected ports). SSNet capitalizes on the intrinsic structure of FAS channels, learning generalized representations from raw CSI data, thus reducing dependency on large labelled datasets. For enhanced feature extraction and noise resilience, we propose a mix-of-expert (MoE) module. In this setup, multiple feedforward neural networks (FFNs) operate in parallel. The outputs of the MoE module are combined using a weighted sum, determined by a gating function that computes the weights of each FFN using a softmax function. Extensive simulations validate the superiority of the proposed model. Results indicate that SSNet significantly outperforms benchmark models, such as AGMAE and long short-term memory (LSTM) networks by using a much smaller labelled dataset.

Context-Aware Deep Learning for Robust Channel Extrapolation in Fluid Antenna Systems

Fluid antenna systems (FAS) offer remarkable spatial flexibility but face significant challenges in acquiring high-resolution channel state information (CSI), leading to considerable overhead. To address this issue, we propose CANet, a robust deep learning model for channel extrapolation in FAS. CANet combines context-adaptive modeling with a cross-scale attention mechanism and is built on a ConvNeXt v2 backbone to improve extrapolation accuracy for unobserved antenna ports. To further enhance robustness, we introduce a novel spatial amplitude perturbation strategy, inspired by frequency-domain augmentation techniques in image processing. This motivates the incorporation of a Fourier-domain loss function, capturing frequency-domain consistency, alongside a spectral structure consistency loss that reinforces learning stability under perturbations. Our simulation results demonstrate that CANet outperforms benchmark models across a wide range of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels.

High Pressure Growth of Transition-Metal Monosilicide RhGe Single Crystals

Transition-metal monosilicide RhGe has been reported to exhibit weak itinerant ferromagnetism, superconductivity, and topological properties. In this study, we report the high-pressure growth of high-quality RhGe single crystals up to millimeter size using flux method. Transport measurements reveal the metallic behavior of RhGe between 2-300 K with Fermi liquid behavior at low temperature region. However, no superconductivity was observed with variations in Ge composition. Magnetic characterizations indicate that RhGe exhibits a paramagnetic behavior between 2-300 K. The high-quality, large-size RhGe single crystals pave the way for further investigation of their topological properties using spectroscopic techniques.

High Quality Single Crystal of Kitaev Spin Liquid Candidate Material RuBr3 Synthesized under High Pressure

Kitaev quantum spin liquids have attracted significant attention in condensed matter physics over the past decade. To understand their emergent quantum phenomena, high-quality single crystals of substantial size are essential. Here, we report the synthesis of single crystals of the Kitaev quantum spin liquid candidate RuBr3, achieving millimeter-sized crystals through a self-flux method under high pressure and high temperature conditions. The crystals exhibit well-defined cleavage planes with a lustrous appearance. Transport characterizations exhibit a narrow band-gap semiconducting behavior with 0.13 eV and 0.11 eV band-gap in ab plane and along c axis, respectively. Magnetic measurement shows a transition to antiferromagnetic (AFM) state at approximately 29 K both in ab plane and along c axis. Notably, the N\'eel temperature increases to 34 K with an applied magnetic field of up to 7 T in the ab plane, but without any change along c axis. The large size and high quality of RuBr3 single crystals provide a valuable platform for investigating various interactions, particularly the Kitaev interaction, and for elucidating the intrinsic physical properties of Kitaev quantum spin liquids.

Local electronic properties of La3Ni2O7 under pressure

The recent discovery of superconductivity in $\rm La_3Ni_2O_7$ has attracted significant attention due to its high critical temperature and analogy to cuprate oxides. The oxidation and spin states of Ni ions are among the most important local properties in this compound, extensively discussed in the context of its superconductivity. Despite their direct link to the electron filling configurations of the relevant $\rm 3d_{x^2-y^2}$ and $\rm 3d_{z^2}$ orbitals, these local electronic properties of $\rm La_3Ni_2O_7$ yet to be systematically investigated. In this work, we address this issue using x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and x-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) measurements under pressure. Comparison of Ni \textit{K}-edge XAS and $\rm K\beta$ XES with the reference spectra of $\rm NiO$ and $\rm LaNiO_3$ shows that Ni ions, with an average valence of $\sim 2.53+$, are in a low-spin ($\rm S = 1/2$) ground state under ambient conditions. High pressure XAS and XES data clearly show that the oxidation ($\sim 2.5+$) and spin ($\rm S = 1/2$) states of Ni ions remain stable across the investigated pressure (up to 30 GPa) and temperature (down to 10 K) ranges, ruling out previously proposed spin transition scenarios.

Structure responsible for the superconducting state in La3Ni2O7 at high pressure and low temperature conditions

Very recently, a new superconductor with Tc = 80 K was reported in nickelate (La3Ni2O7) at around 15 - 40 GPa conditions (Nature, 621, 493, 2023) [1], which is the second type of unconventional superconductor, beside the cuprates, with Tc above liquid nitrogen temperature. However, the phase diagram plotted in this report was mostly based on the transport measurement at low temperature and high pressure conditions, and the assumed corresponding X-ray diffraction (XRD) results was carried out at room temperature. This encouraged us to carry out in situ high pressure and low temperature synchrotron XRD experiments to determine which phase is responsible for the high Tc state. In addition to the phase transition from orthorhombic Amam structure to orthorhombic Fmmm structure, a tetragonal phase with space group of I4/mmm was discovered when the sample was compressed to 19 GPa at 40 K where the superconductivity takes palce in La3Ni2O7. The calculations based on this tetragonal structure reveal that the electronic states approached to the Fermi energy were mainly dominated by the eg orbitals (3dz2 and 3dx2-y2) of Ni atoms, which are located in the oxygen octahedral crystal field. The correlation between Tc and this structural evolution, especially Ni-O octahedra regularity and the in-plane Ni-O-Ni bonding angles, are analyzed. This work sheds new lights to identify what is the most likely phase responsible for superconductivity in the double layered nickelate.

Two-Bit RIS-Aided Communications at 3.5GHz: Some Insights from the Measurement Results Under Multiple Practical Scenes

In this paper, we propose a two-bit reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided communication system, which mainly consists of a two-bit RIS, a transmitter and a receiver. A corresponding prototype verification system is designed to perform experimental tests in practical environments. The carrier frequency is set as 3.5GHz, and the RIS array possesses 256 units, each of which adopts two-bit phase quantization. In particular, we adopt a self-developed broadband intelligent communication system 40MHz-Net (BICT-40N) terminal in order to fully acquire the channel information. The terminal mainly includes a baseband board and a radio frequency (RF) front-end board, where the latter can achieve 26 dB transmitting link gain and 33 dB receiving link gain. The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal is used for the terminal, where the bandwidth is 40MHz and the subcarrier spacing is 625KHz. Also, the terminal supports a series of modulation modes, including QPSK, QAM, etc.Through experimental tests, we validate a few functions and properties of the RIS as follows. First, we validate a novel RIS power consumption model, which considers both the static and the dynamic power consumption. Besides, we demonstrate the existence of the imaging interference and find that two-bit RIS can lower the imaging interference about 10 dBm. Moreover, we verify that the RIS can outperform the metal plate in terms of the beam focusing performance. In addition, we find that the RIS has the ability to improve the channel stationarity. Then, we realize the multi-beam reflection of the RIS utilizing the pattern addition (PA) algorithm. Lastly, we validate the existence of the mutual coupling between different RIS units.

Integral Curvature Bounds and Betti Numbers

We introduce an upper bound of the Betti numbers of a compact Riemannian manifold given integral bounds on the average of the lowest eigenvalues of the curvature operator. We then establish a new curvature condition for the Betti numbers to vanish using the Bochner technique. This generalizes results from Gallot and Petersen-Wink.

Linearity of Generalized Cactus Groups

Cactus groups are traditionally defined based on symmetric groups, and pure cactus groups are particular subgroups of cactus groups. Mostovoy showed that pure cactus groups embed into right-angled Coxeter groups. We generalize this result to cactus groups associated with arbitrary finite Coxeter groups and we investigate some representations of generalized cactus groups and deduce the linearity of generalized cactus groups.

A ferrotoroidic candidate with well-separated spin chains

The search of novel quasi one-dimensional (1D) materials is one of the important aspects in the field of material science. Toroidal moment, the order parameter of ferrotoroidic order, can be generated by a head-to-tail configuration of magnetic moment. It has been theoretically proposed that one-dimensional (1D) dimerized and antiferromagnetic-like spin chain hosts ferrotoroidicity and has the toroidal moment composed of only two antiparallel spins. Here, we report a ferrotoroidic candidate of Ba6Cr2S10 with such a theoretical model of spin chain. The structure consists of unique dimerized face-sharing CrS6 octahedral chains along the c axis. An antiferromagnetic-like ordering at ~10 K breaks both space- and time-reversal symmetries and the magnetic point group of mm'2' allows three ferroic orders in Ba6Cr2S10: (anti)ferromagnetic, ferroelectric and ferrotoroidic orders. Our investigation reveals that Ba6Cr2S10 is a rare ferrotoroidic candidate with quasi 1D spin chain, which can be considered as a starting point for the further exploration of the physics and applications of ferrotoroidicity.

CoAvoid: Secure, Privacy-Preserved Tracing of Contacts for Infectious Diseases

To fight against infectious diseases (e.g., SARS, COVID-19, Ebola, etc.), government agencies, technology companies and health institutes have launched various contact tracing approaches to identify and notify the people exposed to infection sources. However, existing tracing approaches can lead to severe privacy and security concerns, thereby preventing their secure and widespread use among communities. To tackle these problems, this paper proposes CoAvoid, a decentralized, privacy-preserved contact tracing system that features good dependability and usability. CoAvoid leverages the Google/Apple Exposure Notification (GAEN) API to achieve decent device compatibility and operating efficiency. It utilizes GPS along with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to dependably verify user information. In addition, to enhance privacy protection, CoAvoid applies fuzzification and obfuscation measures to shelter sensitive data, making both servers and users agnostic to information of both low and high-risk populations. The evaluation demonstrates good efficacy and security of CoAvoid. Compared with four state-of-art contact tracing applications, CoAvoid can reduce upload data by at least 90% and simultaneously resist wormhole and replay attacks in various scenarios.

Long-Time Magnetic Relaxation in Antiferromagnetic Topological Material EuCd$_2$As$_2$

Magnetic topological materials have attracted much attention due to the correlation between topology and magnetism. Recent studies suggest that EuCd$_2$As$_2$ is an antiferromagnetic topological material. Here by carrying out thorough magnetic, electrical and thermodynamic property measurements, we discover a long time relaxation of the magnetic susceptibility in EuCd$_2$As$_2$. The (001) in-plane magnetic susceptibility at 5 K is found to continuously increase up to $\sim$10% over the time of $\sim$14 hours. The magnetic relaxation is anisotropic and strongly depends on the temperature and the applied magnetic field. These results will stimulate further theoretical and experimental studies to understand the origin of the relaxation process and its effect on the electronic structure and physical properties of the magnetic topological materials.

Crystal structure and properties of iron-based spin-chain compound Ba9Fe3Se15

We report the synthesis of a new quasi one-dimensional (1D) iron selenide. Ba9Fe3Se15 was synthesized at high temperature and high pressure of 5.5 GPa and systematically studied via structural, magnetic and transport measurements at ambient and at high-pressures. Ba9Fe3Se15 crystallizes in a monoclinic structure and consists of face-sharing FeSe6 octahedral chains along the c axis. At ambient pressure it exhibits an insulating behavior with a band gap ~460 meV and undergoes a ferrimagnet-like phase transition at 14 K. Under high pressure, a complete metallization occurs at ~29 GPa, which is accompanied by a spin state crossover from high spin (HS) state to low spin (LS) state. The LS appears for pressures P >36 GPa.

Mott Transition and Superconductivity in Quantum Spin Liquid Candidate NaYbSe$_2$

The Mott transition is one of the fundamental issues in condensed matter physics, especially in the system with antiferromagnetic long-range order. However the Mott transition in quantum spin liquid (QSL) systems without long-range order is rare. Here we report the observation of the pressure-induced insulator to metal transition followed by the emergence of superconductivity in the QSL candidate NaYbSe2 with triangular lattice of 4f Yb$_3^+$ ions. Detail analysis of transport properties at metallic state shows an evolution from non-Fermi liquid to Fermi liquid behavior when approaching the vicinity of superconductivity. An irreversible structure phase transition occurs around 11 GPa is revealed by the X-ray diffraction. These results shed light on the Mott transition and superconductivity in the QSL systems.

Giant Negative Thermal Expansion Induced by the Synergistic Effects of Ferroelectrostriction and Spin-Crossover in PbTiO3-Based Perovskites

The discovery of unusual negative thermal expansion (NTE) provides the opportunity to control the common but much desired property of thermal expansion, which is valuable not only in scientific interests but also in practical applications. However, most of the available NTE materials are limited to a narrow temperature range, and the NTE effect is generally weakened by means of various modifications. Here, we report an enhanced NTE effect that occurs over a wide temperature range (\alpha V = -5.24 * 10-5 {\deg}C^-1, 25-575 {\deg} C), and this NTE effect is accompanied by an abnormal enhanced tetragonality, a large spontaneous polarization, and a G-type antiferromagnetic ordering in the present perovskite-type ferroelectric of (1-x)PbTiO3-xBiCoO3. Specifically, for the composition of 0.5PbTiO3-0.5BiCoO3, an extensive volumetric contraction of ~4.8 % has been observed near the Curie temperature of 700 {\deg}C, which represents the highest level in PbTiO3-based ferroelectrics. According to our experimental and theoretical results, the giant NTE originates from a synergistic effect of the ferroelectrostriction and spin-crossover of cobalt on the crystal lattice. The actual NTE mechanism is contrasted with previous functional NTE materials, in which the NTE is simply coupled with one ordering such as electronic, magnetic, or ferroelectric ordering. The present study sheds light on the understanding of NTE mechanisms and it attests that NTE could be simultaneouslycoupled with different orderings, which will pave a new way toward the design of large NTE materials.

A Robotic Auto-Focus System based on Deep Reinforcement Learning

Considering its advantages in dealing with high-dimensional visual input and learning control policies in discrete domain, Deep Q Network (DQN) could be an alternative method of traditional auto-focus means in the future. In this paper, based on Deep Reinforcement Learning, we propose an end-to-end approach that can learn auto-focus policies from visual input and finish at a clear spot automatically. We demonstrate that our method - discretizing the action space with coarse to fine steps and applying DQN is not only a solution to auto-focus but also a general approach towards vision-based control problems. Separate phases of training in virtual and real environments are applied to obtain an effective model. Virtual experiments, which are carried out after the virtual training phase, indicates that our method could achieve 100% accuracy on a certain view with different focus range. Further training on real robots could eliminate the deviation between the simulator and real scenario, leading to reliable performances in real applications.
