A HyperGraphMamba-Based Multichannel Adaptive Model for ncRNA Classification

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) play pivotal roles in gene expression regulation and the pathogenesis of various diseases. Accurate classification of ncRNAs is essential for functional annotation and disease diagnosis. To address existing limitations in feature extraction depth and multimodal fusion, we propose HGMamba-ncRNA, a HyperGraphMamba-based multichannel adaptive model, which integrates sequence, secondary structure, and optionally available expression features of ncRNAs to enhance classification performance. Specifically, the sequence of ncRNA is modeled using a parallel Multi-scale Convolution and LSTM architecture (MKC-L) to capture both local patterns and long-range dependencies of nucleotides. The structure modality employs a multi-scale graph transformer (MSGraphTransformer) to represent the multi-level topological characteristics of ncRNA secondary structures. The expression modality utilizes a Chebyshev Polynomial-based Kolmogorov-Arnold Network (CPKAN) to effectively model and interpret high-dimensional expression profiles. Finally, by incorporating virtual nodes to facilitate efficient and comprehensive multimodal interaction, HyperGraphMamba is proposed to adaptively align and integrate multichannel heterogeneous modality features. Experiments conducted on three public datasets demonstrate that HGMamba-ncRNA consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy and other metrics. Extensive empirical studies further confirm the model's robustness, effectiveness, and strong transferability, offering a novel and reliable strategy for complex ncRNA functional classification. Structural Mutation Based Differential Testing for FPGA Logic Synthesis Compilers

Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) play a crucial role in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) applications, which have been widely used in safety-critical environments, including aerospace, chip manufacturing, and medical devices. A critical step in FPGA development is logic synthesis, which enables developers to translate their software designs into hardware net lists, which facilitates the physical implementation of the chip, detailed timing and power analysis, gate-level simulation, test vector generation, and optimization and consistency checking. However, bugs or incorrect implementations in FPGA logic synthesis compilers may lead to unexpected behaviors in target wapplications, posing security risks. Therefore, it is crucial to eliminate such bugs in FPGA logic synthesis compilers. The effectiveness of existing works is still limited by its simple, blind mutation strategy. To address this challenge, we propose a guided mutation strategy based on Bayesian optimization called LSC-Fuzz to detect bugs in FPGA logic synthesis compilers. Specifically, LSC-Fuzz consists of three components: the test-program generation component, the Bayesian diversity selection component, and the equivalent check component. By performing test-program generation and Bayesian diversity selection, LSC-Fuzz generates diverse and complex HDL code, thoroughly testing the FPGA logic synthesis compilers using equivalent check to detect bugs. Through three months, LSC-Fuzz has found 16 bugs, 12 of these has been confirmed by official technical support.

Programmable skyrmions for robust communication and intelligent sensing

The recently observed plasmonic skyrmions, as electromagnetic counterparts of topologically stable quasiparticles, hold significant promise as novel carriers for robust information transfer and manipulation of nontrivial light-matter interactions. However, their practical applications has been hindered by the lack of flexible tuning devices to encode these topological structures. Here, we present a programmable plasmonic skyrmion platform capable of encoding diverse skyrmion topologies, including Neel-type skyrmions and merons. Based on unprecedented ultra-fast coding feature, we synthesize harmonic skyrmions in the temporal dimension and, for the first time, applied skyrmions in communication and sensing applications. Specifically, we achieved highly robust and multi-channel wireless communications by using programmable topological skyrmions, providing a promising platform for communication in turbulent noise channels and extreme conditions. Furthermore, we implemented intelligent sensing across twenty animal models on the same platform, achieving high recognition accuracy. This methodology offers programmable and temporal insights into the skyrmions for their practical applications in next-generation wireless communication and intelligent sensing.

Baichuan-M2: Scaling Medical Capability with Large Verifier System

As large language models (LLMs) advance in conversational and reasoning capabilities, their practical application in healthcare has become a critical research focus. However, there is a notable gap between the performance of medical LLMs on static benchmarks such as USMLE and their utility in real-world clinical decision-making. This discrepancy arises because traditional exams fail to capture the dynamic, interactive nature of medical consultations. To address this challenge, we introduce a novel dynamic verification framework that moves beyond static answer verifier, establishing a large-scale, high-fidelity interactive reinforcement learning system. Our framework comprises two key components: a Patient Simulator that creates realistic clinical environments using de-identified medical records, and a Clinical Rubrics Generator that dynamically produces multi-dimensional evaluation metrics. Building on this foundation, we develop Baichuan-M2, a 32B-parameter medical augmented reasoning model trained through a multi-stage reinforcement learning strategy with an improved Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) algorithm. Evaluated on HealthBench, Baichuan-M2 outperforms all other open-source models and most advanced closed-source counterparts, achieving a score above 32 on the challenging HealthBench Hard benchmark-previously exceeded only by GPT-5. Our work demonstrates that robust dynamic verifier system is essential for aligning LLM capabilities with practical clinical applications, establishing a new Pareto front in the performance-parameter trade-off for medical AI deployment.

Compiler Bugs Detection in Logic Synthesis Tools via Linear Upper Confidence Bound

Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) play an indispensable role in Electronic Design Automation (EDA), translating Register-Transfer Level (RTL) designs into gate-level netlists. The correctness and reliability of FPGA logic synthesis tools are critically important, as unnoticed bugs in these tools may infect the final hardware implementations. However, recent approaches often rely heavily on random selection strategies, limiting the structural diversity of the generated HDL test cases and resulting in inadequate exploration of the tool's feature space. To address this limitation, we propose Lin-Hunter, a novel testing framework designed to systematically enhance the diversity of HDL test cases and the efficiency of FPGA logic synthesis tool validation. Specifically, Lin-Hunter introduces a principled set of metamorphic transformation rules to generate functionally equivalent yet structurally diverse HDL test case variants, effectively addressing the limited diversity of existing test inputs. To further enhance bug discovery efficiency, Lin-Hunter integrates an adaptive strategy selection mechanism based on the Linear Upper Confidence Bound (LinUCB) method. This method leverages feedback from synthesis logs of previously executed test cases to dynamically prioritize transformation strategies that have empirically demonstrated a higher likelihood of triggering synthesis bugs. Comprehensive experiments conducted over a three-month period demonstrate the practical effectiveness of Lin-Hunter. Our method has discovered 18 unique bugs, including 10 previously unreported defects, which have been confirmed by official developers. Moreover, our method outperforms state-of-the-art testing methods in both test-case diversity and bug-discovery efficiency.

Auto prompt sql: a resource-efficient architecture for text-to-sql translation in constrained environments

Using the best Text-to-SQL methods in resource-constrained environments is challenging due to their reliance on resource-intensive open-source models. This paper introduces Auto Prompt SQL(AP-SQL), a novel architecture designed to bridge the gap between resource-efficient small open-source models and the powerful capabilities of large closed-source models for Text-to-SQL translation. Our method decomposes the task into schema filtering, retrieval-augmented text-to-SQL generation based on in-context examples, and prompt-driven schema linking and SQL generation. To improve schema selection accuracy, we fine-tune large language models. Crucially, we also explore the impact of prompt engineering throughout the process, leveraging Chain-of-Thought(CoT) and Graph-of-Thought(GoT) templates to significantly enhance the model's reasoning for accurate SQL generation. Comprehensive evaluations on the Spider benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of AP-SQL.

Modeling Relational Logic Circuits for And-Inverter Graph Convolutional Network

The automation of logic circuit design enhances chip performance, energy efficiency, and reliability, and is widely applied in the field of Electronic Design Automation (EDA).And-Inverter Graphs (AIGs) efficiently represent, optimize, and verify the functional characteristics of digital circuits, enhancing the efficiency of EDA development.Due to the complex structure and large scale of nodes in real-world AIGs, accurate modeling is challenging, leading to existing work lacking the ability to jointly model functional and structural characteristics, as well as insufficient dynamic information propagation capability. To address the aforementioned challenges, we propose AIGer.Specifically, AIGer consists of two components: 1) Node logic feature initialization embedding component and 2) AIGs feature learning network component. The node logic feature initialization embedding component projects logic nodes, such as AND and NOT, into independent semantic spaces, to enable effective node embedding for subsequent processing.Building upon this, the AIGs feature learning network component employs a heterogeneous graph convolutional network, designing dynamic relationship weight matrices and differentiated information aggregation approaches to better represent the original structure and information of AIGs.The combination of these two components enhances AIGer's ability to jointly model functional and structural characteristics and improves its message passing capability. Experimental results indicate that AIGer outperforms the current best models in the Signal Probability Prediction (SSP) task, improving MAE and MSE by 18.95\% and 44.44\%, respectively. In the Truth Table Distance Prediction (TTDP) task, AIGer achieves improvements of 33.57\% and 14.79\% in MAE and MSE, respectively, compared to the best-performing models.

SOC-DGL: Social Interaction Behavior Inspired Dual Graph Learning Framework for Drug-Target Interaction Identification

The identification of drug-target interactions (DTI) is critical for drug discovery and repositioning, as it reveals potential therapeutic uses of existing drugs, accelerating development and reducing costs. However, most existing models focus only on direct similarity in homogeneous graphs, failing to exploit the rich similarity in heterogeneous graphs. To address this gap, inspired by real-world social interaction behaviors, we propose SOC-DGL, which comprises two specialized modules: the Affinity-Driven Graph Learning (ADGL) module, learning global similarity through an affinity-enhanced drug-target graph, and the Equilibrium-Driven Graph Learning (EDGL) module, capturing higher-order similarity by amplifying the influence of even-hop neighbors using an even-polynomial graph filter based on balance theory. This dual approach enables SOC-DGL to effectively capture similarity information across multiple interaction scales within affinity and association matrices. To address the issue of imbalance in DTI datasets, we propose an adjustable imbalance loss function that adjusts the weight of negative samples by the parameter. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets demonstrate that SOC-DGL consistently outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods across both balanced and imbalanced scenarios. Moreover, SOC-DGL successfully predicts the top 9 drugs known to bind ABL1, and further analyzed the 10th drug, which has not been experimentally confirmed to interact with ABL1, providing supporting evidence for its potential binding.

A Multi-view Divergence-Convergence Feature Augmentation Framework for Drug-related Microbes Prediction

In the study of drug function and precision medicine, identifying new drug-microbe associations is crucial. However, current methods isolate association and similarity analysis of drug and microbe, lacking effective inter-view optimization and coordinated multi-view feature fusion. In our study, a multi-view Divergence-Convergence Feature Augmentation framework for Drug-related Microbes Prediction (DCFA_DMP) is proposed, to better learn and integrate association information and similarity information. In the divergence phase, DCFA_DMP strengthens the complementarity and diversity between heterogeneous information and similarity information by performing Adversarial Learning method between the association network view and different similarity views, optimizing the feature space. In the convergence phase, a novel Bidirectional Synergistic Attention Mechanism is proposed to deeply synergize the complementary features between different views, achieving a deep fusion of the feature space. Moreover, Transformer graph learning is alternately applied on the drug-microbe heterogeneous graph, enabling each drug or microbe node to focus on the most relevant nodes. Numerous experiments demonstrate DCFA_DMP's significant performance in predicting drug-microbe associations. It also proves effectiveness in predicting associations for new drugs and microbes in cold start experiments, further confirming its stability and reliability in predicting potential drug-microbe associations.

SafeTriage: Facial Video De-identification for Privacy-Preserving Stroke Triage

Effective stroke triage in emergency settings often relies on clinicians' ability to identify subtle abnormalities in facial muscle coordination. While recent AI models have shown promise in detecting such patterns from patient facial videos, their reliance on real patient data raises significant ethical and privacy challenges -- especially when training robust and generalizable models across institutions. To address these concerns, we propose SafeTriage, a novel method designed to de-identify patient facial videos while preserving essential motion cues crucial for stroke diagnosis. SafeTriage leverages a pretrained video motion transfer (VMT) model to map the motion characteristics of real patient faces onto synthetic identities. This approach retains diagnostically relevant facial dynamics without revealing the patients' identities. To mitigate the distribution shift between normal population pre-training videos and patient population test videos, we introduce a conditional generative model for visual prompt tuning, which adapts the input space of the VMT model to ensure accurate motion transfer without needing to fine-tune the VMT model backbone. Comprehensive evaluation, including quantitative metrics and clinical expert assessments, demonstrates that SafeTriage-produced synthetic videos effectively preserve stroke-relevant facial patterns, enabling reliable AI-based triage. Our evaluations also show that SafeTriage provides robust privacy protection while maintaining diagnostic accuracy, offering a secure and ethically sound foundation for data sharing and AI-driven clinical analysis in neurological disorders.

Asymptotic stabilization under homomorphic encryption: A re-encryption free method

In this paper, we propose methods to encrypted a pre-given dynamic controller with homomorphic encryption, without re-encrypting the control inputs. We first present a preliminary result showing that the coefficients in a pre-given dynamic controller can be scaled up into integers by the zooming-in factor in dynamic quantization, without utilizing re-encryption. However, a sufficiently small zooming-in factor may not always exist because it requires that the convergence speed of the pre-given closed-loop system should be sufficiently fast. Then, as the main result, we design a new controller approximating the pre-given dynamic controller, in which the zooming-in factor is decoupled from the convergence rate of the pre-given closed-loop system. Therefore, there always exist a (sufficiently small) zooming-in factor of dynamic quantization scaling up all the controller's coefficients to integers, and a finite modulus preventing overflow in cryptosystems. The process is asymptotically stable and the quantizer is not saturated.

Atomic-Scale Investigation of an Asymmetric SrTiO$_{3}$ Grain Boundary

Grain boundaries (GBs) in oxide perovskites significantly influence their functional properties. This study examines the atomic-scale structure and composition of a faceted asymmetric grain boundary in strontium titanate (SrTiO$_3$) using scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), atom probe tomography (APT), and density functional theory (DFT). STEM and APT reveal an atomically sharp boundary with asymmetric and symmetric facets, marked by strong Sr depletion over a width of less than 1 nm. STEM-EELS shows Ti concentration variations of up to 20% between facets, while APT constrains this variation to less than 10%. DFT$+U$ calculations of a symmetric $Σ$5 facet confirm that Sr depletion minimizes boundary energy while maintaining Ti content. The variation in Ti suggests cation mobility that enables local energy minimization. Differences in facet surface energies likely drive Ti redistribution, offering strategies for GB structure control. This combined experimental-theoretical approach provides key insights into the structure and energy landscape of GBs in SrTiO$_3$, aiding in the prediction of their impact on ionic and electronic transport.

Enhancing Adversarial Example Detection Through Model Explanation

Adversarial examples are a major problem for machine learning models, leading to a continuous search for effective defenses. One promising direction is to leverage model explanations to better understand and defend against these attacks. We looked at AmI, a method proposed by a NeurIPS 2018 spotlight paper that uses model explanations to detect adversarial examples. Our study shows that while AmI is a promising idea, its performance is too dependent on specific settings (e.g., hyperparameter) and external factors such as the operating system and the deep learning framework used, and such drawbacks limit AmI's practical usage. Our findings highlight the need for more robust defense mechanisms that are effective under various conditions. In addition, we advocate for a comprehensive evaluation framework for defense techniques.

A thin film source in a solid-state diffusion experiment: CoO on SrTiO3

To realize a chemical diffusion experiment for simple quantitative analysis of one-dimensional diffusion profiles requires the fabrication of a planar and chemically sharp interface between two phases, one serving as the diffusion source and the other as the material to be studied. We demonstrate a thin film source on top of single crystals or epitaxial films for the example of cobalt (II) oxide (CoO) grown on top of SrTiO3 (STO) by ion beam sputtering. After deposition at room temperature, a nanocrystalline film with flat and chemically sharp interface is present. Diffusion annealing leads to a partial formation of the Co3O4 phase and recrystallization accompanied by a strong increase of the surface and the interface roughness. We report the conditions, where compact and stable CoO layers with flat interface can be maintained, serving as a constant source for Co diffusion. Exemplarily, the formation of a Co-diffusion profile is demonstrated after annealing of 240 h at 1163 K and comparatively studied by using three different methods: Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX) in a transmission electron microscope (TEM), atom probe tomography (APT) and time of flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (TOF SIMS). Local and rather macroscopic concentration profiling do well agree within error.

Differentially Private Distributed Nash Equilibrium Seeking over Time-Varying Digraphs

This paper proposes a new differentially private distributed Nash equilibrium seeking algorithm for aggregative games under time-varying unbalanced directed communication graphs. Random independent Laplace noises are injected into the transmitted information to protect players' sensitive information. Then, the push-sum consensus protocol is utilized to estimate the aggregate function with the perturbed information under the time-varying topologies. The weakening factor and the momentum term are designed to attenuate the negative affect of the noise and guarantee the convergence of the algorithm, respectively. The algorithm is then proven to ensure the almost sure convergence, as well as rigorous differential privacy with a finite cumulative privacy budget, without requiring a trade-off between provable convergence and differential privacy. Finally, the simulation is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Nonvolatile Silicon Photonic MEMS Switch Based on Centrally-Clamped Stepped Bistable Mechanical Beams

High-performance photonic switches are essential for large-scale optical routing for AI large models and Internet of things. Realizing nonvolatility can further reduce power consumption and expand application scenarios. We propose a nonvolatile 2*2 silicon photonic micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) switch compatible with standard silicon photonic foundry processes. The switch employs electrostatic comb actuator to change the air gap of the compact horizontal adiabatic coupler and achieves nonvolatility with centrally-clamped stepped bistable mechanical beams. The photonic switch features a 10s us-scale switching speed and a 10s fJ-scale simulated switching energy within a 100*100 um2 footprint, with <=12 V driving voltages. This 2*2 switch can be used in a variety of topologies for large-scale photonic switches, and its nonvolatility can potentially support future photonic FPGA designs.

Do Neural Scaling Laws Exist on Graph Self-Supervised Learning?

Self-supervised learning~(SSL) is essential to obtain foundation models in NLP and CV domains via effectively leveraging knowledge in large-scale unlabeled data. The reason for its success is that a suitable SSL design can help the model to follow the neural scaling law, i.e., the performance consistently improves with increasing model and dataset sizes. However, it remains a mystery whether existing SSL in the graph domain can follow the scaling behavior toward building Graph Foundation Models~(GFMs) with large-scale pre-training. In this study, we examine whether existing graph SSL techniques can follow the neural scaling behavior with the potential to serve as the essential component for GFMs. Our benchmark includes comprehensive SSL technique implementations with analysis conducted on both the conventional SSL setting and many new settings adopted in other domains. Surprisingly, despite the SSL loss continuously decreasing, no existing graph SSL techniques follow the neural scaling behavior on the downstream performance. The model performance only merely fluctuates on different data scales and model scales. Instead of the scales, the key factors influencing the performance are the choices of model architecture and pretext task design. This paper examines existing SSL techniques for the feasibility of Graph SSL techniques in developing GFMs and opens a new direction for graph SSL design with the new evaluation prototype. Our code implementation is available online to ease reproducibility on https://github.com/GraphSSLScaling/GraphSSLScaling.
