Low Energy 6-Dimensional N=2 Supersymmertric SU(6) Models on $T^2$ Orbifolds

We propose low energy 6-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric SU(6) models on $M^4\times T^2/(Z_2)^3$ and $M^4\times T^2/(Z_2)^4$, where the orbifold $SU(3)_C\times SU(3)$ model can be embedded on the boundary 4-brane. For the zero modes, the 6-dimensional N=2 supersymmetry and the SU(6) gauge symmetry are broken down to the 4-dimensional N=1 supersymmetry and the $SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y\times U(1)'$ gauge symmetry by orbifold projections. In order to cancel the anomalies involving at least one $U(1)'$, we add extra exotic particles. We also study the anomaly free conditions and present some anomaly free models. The gauge coupling unification can be achieved at $100\sim 200$ TeV if the compactification scale for the fifth dimension is $3\sim 4$ TeV. The proton decay problem can be avoided by putting the quarks and leptons/neutrinos on different 3-branes. And we discuss how to break the $SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y\times U(1)'$ gauge symmetry, solve the $μ$ problem, and generate the $Z-Z'$ mass hierarchy naturally by using the geometry. The masses of exotic particles can be at the order of 1 TeV after the gauge symmetry breaking. We also forbid the dimension-5 operators for the neutrino masses by $U(1)'$ gauge symmetry, and the realistic left-handed neutrino masses can be obtained via non-renormalizable terms.

Higgs Boson Decay into Hadronic Jets

The remarkable agreement of electroweak data with standard model (SM) predictions motivates the study of extensions of the SM in which the Higgs boson is light and couples in a standard way to the weak gauge bosons. Postulated new light particles should have small couplings to the gauge bosons. Within this context it is natural to assume that the branching fractions of the light SM-like Higgs boson mimic those in the standard model. This assumption may be unwarranted, however, if there are non-standard light particles coupled weakly to the gauge bosons but strongly to the Higgs field. In particular, the Higgs boson may effectively decay into hadronic jets, possibly without important bottom or charm flavor content. As an example, we present a simple extension of the SM, in which the predominant decay of the Higgs boson occurs into a pair of light bottom squarks that, in turn, manifest themselves as hadronic jets. Discovery of the Higgs boson remains possible at an electron-positron linear collider, but prospects at hadron colliders are diminished substantially.

BSML: A Binding Schema Markup Language for Data Interchange in Problem Solving Environments (PSEs)

We describe a binding schema markup language (BSML) for describing data interchange between scientific codes. Such a facility is an important constituent of scientific problem solving environments (PSEs). BSML is designed to integrate with a PSE or application composition system that views model specification and execution as a problem of managing semistructured data. The data interchange problem is addressed by three techniques for processing semistructured data: validation, binding, and conversion. We present BSML and describe its application to a PSE for wireless communications system design.

N=2 6-dimensional Supersymmetric $E_6$ Breaking

We study the $N=2$ supersymmetric $E_6$ models on the 6-dimensional space-time where the supersymmetry and gauge symmetry can be broken by the discrete symmetry. On the space-time $M^4\times S^1/(Z_2\times Z_2') \times S^1/(Z_2\times Z_2')$, for the zero modes, we obtain the 4-dimensional $N=1$ supersymmetric models with gauge groups $SU(3)\times SU(2) \times SU(2) \times U(1)^2$, $SU(4)\times SU(2) \times SU(2) \times U(1)$, and $SU(3)\times SU(2) \times U(1)^3$ with one extra pair of Higgs doublets from the vector multiplet. In addition, considering that the extra space manifold is the annulus $A^2$ and disc $D^2$, we list all the constraints on constructing the 4-dimensional $N=1$ supersymmetric $SU(3)\times SU(2) \times U(1)^3$ models for the zero modes, and give the simplest model with $Z_9$ symmetry. We also comment on the extra gauge symmetry breaking and its generalization.

Self-Tuning and de Sitter Brane Intersections in the 6-Dimensional Brane Models

We study the self-tuning of general brane junctions and brane networks on the 6-dimensional space-time. For the general brane junctions, there may exist one fine-tuning among the brane tensions. For the brane networks, similar to the 5-dimensional self-tuning brane models, the brane tensions can be set arbitrarily and there exists the singularity for the metric and bulk scalar. And if we want to regularize the singularity, we will introduce the fine-tuning among the brane tensions. In addition, because the 4-dimensional cosmological constant we observe may be positive and very small, we discuss the brane network with de Sitter brane intersections by introducing a bulk scalar.

Search for t->ch at e+e- Linear Colliders

We study the rare top-quark decay t->ch, where h is a generic Higgs boson, at a linear collider. If kinematically accessible, all models contain this decay at some level due to quark flavor mixing. Some models, such as Model III of the two-Higgs doublet model, have a tree-level top-charm-Higgs coupling, and the branching ratio is close to 0.5%. Others, such as the MSSM, have a coupling induced at one-loop, and can have a branching ratio in the range of 10^{-5} - 5x10^{-4}. We find that a linear collider of root(s) = 500 GeV and a luminosity of 500 fb^{-1} will begin to be sensitive to this range of the coupling.

Brane Networks in AdS Space

We present static solutions to Einstein's equations corresponding to the most general network of $N$ orthogonal families of $(2+N)$-branes in $(4+N)$-dimensional $AdS$ spacetimes. The bulk cosmological constant can take a different value in each cell enclosed by intersecting branes and the extra dimensions can be compact or noncompact. In each family of branes the inter-brane spacing is arbitrary. The extra dimensions may be any or all of the manifolds, $R^1$, $R^1/Z_2$, $S^1$ and $S^1/Z_2$. Only when the extra dimensions are $R^1$ or/and $R^1/Z_2$, can networks consisting solely of positive tension branes be constructed. Such configurations may find application in models with localized gravity and symmetry breaking by shining.
