Relativistic spinor equation of photon

In this paper, we have proposed the spiron equation of free and non-free photon, and give the spin operator and spin wave function of photon. We calculate the helicity of photon and prove there are left-handed and right-handed photon. By the spiron equation of non-free photon, we can study the quantum property of photon in medium, which can be used in quantum optics, photonic crystals and so on.

Single-Layer MoS2 Phototransistors

A new phototransistor based on the mechanically-exfoliated single-layer MoS2 nanosheet is fabricated and its light-induced electric properties are investigated in details. Photocurrent generated from the phototransistor is solely determined by the illuminated optical power at a constant drain or gate voltage. The switching behavior of photocurrent generation and annihilation can be completely finished within ca. 50 ms and it shows good stability. Especially, the single-layer MoS2 phototransistor exhibits a better photoresponsivity as compared with the graphene-based device. The unique characteristics of incident-light control, prompt photoswitching and good photoresponsivity from the MoS2 phototransistor pave an avenue to develop the single-layer semiconducting materials for multi-functional optoelectronic device applications in future.

Quantum theory of photonic crystals

In this paper, we have firstly presented a new quantum theory to study one-dimensional photonic crystals. We give the quantum transform matrix, quantum dispersion relation and quantum transmissivity, and compare them with the classical dispersion relation and classical transmissivity. By the calculation, we find the classical and quantum dispersion relation and transmissivity are identical. The new approach can be studied two-dimensional and three-dimensional photonic crystals.

Testing Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati Gravity with Planck

Recently, the Planck collaboration has released the first cosmological papers providing the highest resolution, full sky, maps of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature anisotropies. In this paper we study a phenomenological model which interpolates between the pure $Λ$CDM model and the Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati (DGP) braneworld model with an additional parameter $α$. Firstly, we calculate the "distance information" of Planck data which includes the "shift parameter" $R$, the "acoustic scale" $l_A$, and the photon decoupling epoch $z_\ast$ in different cosmological models and find that this information is almost independent on the input models we use. Then, we compare the constraints on the free parameter $α$ of the DGP model from the "distance information" of Planck and WMAP data and find that the Planck data with high precision do not improve the constraint on $α$, but give the higher median value and the better limit on the current matter density fraction $Ω_m$. Then, combining the "distance information" of Planck measurement, baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO), type Ia supernovae (SNIa) and the prior on the current Hubble constant (HST), we obtain the tight constraint on the parameter $α< 0.20$ at $95\%$ confidence level, which implies that the flat DGP model has been ruled out by the current cosmological data. Finally, we allow the additional parameter $α< 0$ in our calculations and interestingly obtain $α=-0.29\pm0.20$ ($68\%$ C.L.), which means the current data slightly favor the effective equation of state $w_{\rm eff}<-1$. More importantly, the tension between constraints on $H_0$ from different observational data has been eased.

Dark Energy Constraints after Planck

The Planck collaboration has recently published maps of the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation with the highest precision. In the standard flat $Λ$CDM framework, Planck data show that the Hubble constant $H_0$ is in tension with that measured by the several direct probes on $H_0$. In this paper, we perform a global analysis from the current observational data in the general dark energy models and find that resolving this tension on $H_0$ requires the dark energy model with its equation of state (EoS) $w\neq-1$. Firstly, assuming the $w$ to be a constant, the Planck data favor $w < -1$ at about $2\,σ$ confidence level when combining with the supernovae "SNLS" compilation. And consequently the value derived on $H_0$, $H_0=71.3\pm2.0$ ${\rm km\,s^{-1}\,Mpc^{-1}}$ (68% C.L.), is consistent with that from direct $H_0$ probes. We then investigate the dark energy model with a time-evolving $w$, and obtain the 68% C.L. constraints $w_0=-0.81\pm0.19$ and $w_a=-1.9\pm1.1$ from the Planck data and the "SNLS" compilation. Current data still slightly favor the Quintom dark energy scenario with EoS across the cosmological constant boundary $w\equiv-1$.

Quantum theory of light double-slit diffraction

In this paper, we study the light double-slit diffraction experiment with quantum theory approach. Firstly, we calculate the light wave function in slits by quantum theory of photon. Secondly, we calculate the diffraction wave function with Kirchhoff's law. Thirdly, we give the diffraction intensity of light double-slit diffraction, which is proportional to the square of diffraction wave function. Finally, we compare calculation result of quantum theory and classical electromagnetic theory with the experimental data. We find the quantum calculate result is accordance with the experiment data, and the classical calculation result with certain deviation. So, the quantum theory is more accurately approach for studying light diffraction.

Full Quantum Theory of ${C_{60}}$ Double-slit Diffraction

In this paper, we apply the full new method of quantum theory to study the double-slit diffraction of ${C_{60}}$ molecules. We calculate the double-slit wave functions of ${C_{60}}$ molecules by Schrödinger equation, and calculate the diffraction wave function behind the slits with the Feynman path integral quantum theory, and then give the relation between the diffraction intensity of double-slit and diffraction pattern position. We compare the calculation results with two different double-slit diffraction experiments. When the decoherence effects are considered, the calculation results are in good agreement with the two experimental data.

Constraints on Scalar Spectral Index from Latest Observational Measurements

Recently, the nine-year data release of the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP9) found that the inflationary models with the scalar spectral index n_s \geq 1 are excluded at about 5σconfidence level. In this paper, we set the new limits on the scalar spectral index in different cosmological models combining the WMAP9 data with the small-scale cosmic microwave background measurement from the South Pole Telescope, baryon acoustic oscillation data, Hubble Telescope measurements of the Hubble constant, and supernovae luminosity distance data. In most of extended cosmological models, e.g. with a dark energy equation of state, the constraints on n_s do not change significantly. The Harrison-Zel'dovich-Peebles (HZ) scale invariant spectrum is still disfavored at more than 4σconfidence level. However, when considering the model with a number of relativistic species N_{eff}, we obtain the limit on the spectral index of n_s=0.980\pm0.011 (1σ), due to the strong degeneracy between n_s and N_{eff}. The HZ spectrum now is still consistent with the current data at 95% confidence level.

Spinor wave equation of photon

In this paper, we give the spinor wave equations of free and unfree photon, which are the differential equation of space-time one order. For the free photon, the spinor wave equations are covariant, and the spinors $ψ$ are corresponding to the the reducibility representations $D^{10}+D^{01}$ and $D^{10}+D^{01}+D^{1/2 1/2}$ of the proper Lorentz group.

Non-relativistic quantum theory at finite temperature

We propose the non-relativistic finite temperature quantum wave equations for a single particle and multiple particles. We give the relation between energy eigenvalues, eigenfunctions, transition frequency and temperature, and obtain some results: (1) when the degeneracies of two energy levels are same, the transition frequency between the two energy levels is unchanged when the temperature is changed. (2) When the degeneracies of two energy levels are different, the variance of transition frequency at two energy levels is direct proportion to temperature difference.

The effect of defect layer on transmissivity and light field distribution in general function photonic crystals

We have theoretically investigated a general function photonic crystals (GFPCs) with defect layer, and choose the line refractive index function for two mediums $A$ and $B$, and analyze the effect of defect layer's position, refractive indexes and period numbers on the transmission intensity and the electric field distribution. We obtain some new characters that are different from the conventional PCs, which should be helpful in the design of photonic crystals.

Light field distribution of general function photonic crystals

In this paper, We have presented a new general function photonic crystals (GFPCs), which refractive indexes are line functions of space position in two mediums $A$ and $B$, and obtain new results: (1) when the line function of refractive indexes is up or down, the transmissivity can be far larger or smaller than 1. (2) when the refractive indexes function increase or decrease along the direction of incident light, the light intensity should be magnified or weaken, which can be made optical magnifier or attenuator. (3) The GFPCs can be made optical diode when the light positive and negative incident the GFPCs.

Impacts on Cosmological Constraints from Degeneracies

In this paper, we study the degeneracies among several cosmological parameters in detail and discuss their impacts on the determinations of these parameters from the current and future observations. By combining the latest data sets, including type-Ia supernovae "Union2.1" compilation, WMAP seven-year data and the baryon acoustic oscillations from the SDSS Data Release Seven, we perform a global analysis to determine the cosmological parameters, such as the equation of state of dark energy w, the curvature of the universe Ω_k, the total neutrino mass \sum{m_ν}, and the parameters associated with the power spectrum of primordial fluctuations (n_s, α_s and r). We pay particular attention on the degeneracies among these parameters and the influences on their constraints, by with or without including these degeneracies, respectively. We find that $w$ and Ω_k or \sum{m_ν} are strongly correlated. Including the degeneracies will significantly weaken the constraints. Furthermore, we study the capabilities of future observations and find these degeneracies can be broken very well. Consequently, the constraints of cosmological parameters can be improved dramatically.

Constraining dynamical dark energy with a divergence-free parametrization in the presence of spatial curvature and massive neutrinos

In this paper, we report the results of constraining the dynamical dark energy with a divergence-free parameterization, $w(z) = w_{0} + w_{a}(\frac{\ln(2+z)}{1+z}-\ln2)$, in the presence of spatial curvature and massive neutrinos, with the 7-yr WMAP temperature and polarization data, the power spectrum of LRGs derived from SDSS DR7, the Type Ia supernova data from Union2 sample, and the new measurements of $H_0$ from HST, by using a MCMC global fit method. Our focus is on the determinations of the spatial curvature, $Ω_k$, and the total mass of neutrinos, $\sum m_ν$, in such a dynamical dark energy scenario, and the influence of these factors to the constraints on the dark energy parameters, $w_0$ and $w_a$. We show that $Ω_k$ and $\sum m_ν$ can be well constrained in this model; the 95% CL limits are: $-0.0153<Ω_k<0.0167$ and $\sum m_ν<0.56$ eV. Comparing to the case in a flat universe, we find that the error in $w_0$ is amplified by 25.51%, and the error in $w_a$ is amplified by 0.14%; comparing to the case with a zero neutrino mass, we find that the error in $w_0$ is amplified by 12.24%, and the error in $w_a$ is amplified by 1.63%.

The Reactor Anomaly after Daya Bay and RENO

Gallium and short baseline reactor neutrino experiments indicate a short-distance anomalous disappearance of electron antineutrinos which, if interpreted in terms of neutrino oscillations, would lead to a sterile neutrino mass inconsistent with standard cosmological models. This anomaly is difficult to measure at 1 km baseline experiments because its disappearance effects are degenerate with that of theta_13. The flux normalization independent measurement of theta_13 at Daya Bay breaks this degeneracy, allowing an unambiguous differentiation of 1-3 neutrino oscillations and the anomalous disappearance at Double Chooz and RENO. The resulting anomaly is consistent with that found at very short baselines and suggests a downward revision of RENO's result for theta_13. A MCMC global analysis of current cosmological data shows that a quintom cosmology is just compatible at 2 sigma with a sterile neutrino with the right mass to reproduce the reactor anomaly and to a lesser extent the gallium and LSND/MiniBooNE anomalies. However models in which the sterile neutrino acquires a chameleon mass easily satisfy the cosmological bounds and also reduce the tension between LSND and KARMEN.

Testing Einstein Gravity with Cosmic Growth and Expansion

We test Einstein gravity using cosmological observations of both expansion and structure growth, including the latest data from supernovae (Union2.1), CMB (WMAP7), weak lensing (CFHTLS) and peculiar velocity of galaxies (WiggleZ). We fit modified gravity parameters of the generalized Poisson equations simultaneously with the effective equation of state for the background evolution, exploring the covariances and model dependence. The results show that general relativity is a good fit to the combined data. Using a Pad{é} approximant form for the gravity deviations accurately captures the time and scale dependence for theories like $f(R)$ and DGP gravity, and weights high and low redshift probes fairly. For current observations, cosmic growth and expansion can be fit simultaneously with little degradation in accuracy, while removing the possibility of bias from holding one aspect fixed.

Neutrino emission from dark matter annihilation/decay in light of cosmic $e^{\pm}$ and $\bar{p}$ data

A self-consistent global fitting method based on the Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique to study the dark matter (DM) property associated with the cosmic ray electron/positron excesses was developed in our previous work. In this work we further improve the previous study to include the hadronic branching ratio of DM annihilation/decay. The PAMELA $\bar{p}/p$ data are employed to constrain the hadronic branching ratio. We find that the 95% ($2σ$) upper limits of the quark branching ratio allowed by the PAMELA $\bar{p}/p$ data is $\sim 0.032$ for DM annihilation and $\sim 0.044$ for DM decay respectively. This result shows that the DM coupling to pure leptons is indeed favored by the current data. Based on the global fitting results, we further study the neutrino emission from DM in the Galactic center. Our predicted neutrino flux is some smaller than previous works since the constraint from $γ$-rays is involved. However, it is still capable to be detected by the forth-coming neutrino detector such as IceCube. The improved points of the present study compared with previous works include: 1) the DM parameters, both the particle physical ones and astrophysical ones, are derived in a global fitting way, 2) constraints from various species of data sets, including $γ$-rays and antiprotons are included, and 3) the expectation of neutrino emission is fully self-consistent.
