In this short note we present some remarks and conjectures on two of Erdös's open problems in number theory.
In this paper one shows if the number of natural solutions of a general linear equation is limited or not. Also, it is presented a method of solving the Diophantine equation $ax-by=c$ in the set of natural numbers, and an example of solving in $N$ a Diophantine equation with three variables.
In this short note we study the existence and number of solutions in the set of integers ($Z$) and in the set of natural numbers ($N$) of Diopahntine Equations of second degree with two variables of the general form $ax^2-by^2=c$.
In this article we prove that equation $ϕ(x)=n$, for a fixed $n$, admits a finite number of solutions, we find the general form of these solutions, and we show that: if $x_0$ is a unique solution of this equation then $x_0$ is a product of a very large number of primes (we conjecture that the number of such primes is infinite).
In this short note we present a method of solving this Diophantine equation, method which is different from Ljunggren's, Mordell's, and R.K.Guy's.
For academics and practitioners concerned with computers, business and mathematics, one central issue is supporting decision makers. In this paper, we propose a generalization of Decision Matrix Method (DMM), using Neutrosophic logic. It emerges as an alternative to the existing logics and it represents a mathematical model of uncertainty and indeterminacy. This paper proposes the Neutrosophic Decision Matrix Method as a more realistic tool for decision making. In addition, a de-neutrosophication process is included.
In this paper we present four necessary and sufficient conditions for a natural number to be prime.
In this article we establish some properties regarding the solutions of a linear congruence, bases of solutions of a linear congruence, and the finding of other solutions starting from these bases.
In this article we determine several theorems and methods for solving linear congruences and systems of linear congruences, and we find the number of distinct solutions. Many examples of solving congruences are given.
This is a collection of linguistic-mathematical approaches to Romanian rebus, puzzles, poetical and juridical texts, and proposes fancies, recreational math problems, and paradoxes. We study the frequencies of letters, syllables, vowels in various poetry, grill definitions in rebus, and rebus rules. We also compare the scientific language, poetical language, and puzzle language, and compute the Shannon entropy and Onicescu informational energy.
This book gives the basic notions of fuzzy matrix theory and its applications to simple fuzzy models. The approach is non-traditional in order to attract many students to use this methodology in their research. The traditional approach of mathematicians has conditioned students of sociology in such a manner that they are averse to using mathematical tools. Six simple types of fuzzy models that make use of fuzzy matrices are given. These models are distinct because they are time-dependent and can even be used for statistical data. The Fuzzy Cognitive Maps models gives the hidden pattern. Fuzzy Relational Maps model not only gives the hidden pattern but also gives the inter-relations between two sets of disjoint attributes. The Bidirectional Associative Memories model analyzes data depending on the time-period, while the Fuzzy Associative Memories model can give the gradation of importance of each attribute. Finally, the Fuzzy Relational Equation model is capable of giving a solution closer to the predicted solution. All the models are illustrated through elaborate examples of particular social problems.
A general family of estimators for estimating the population mean of the variable under study, which make use of known value of certain population parameter(s), is proposed. Under Simple Random Sampling Without Replacement (SRSWOR) scheme, the expressions of bias and mean-squared error (MSE) up to first order of approximation are derived. Some well known estimators have been shown as particular member of this family. An empirical study is carried out to illustrate the performance of the constructed estimator over others.
In this paper we give two theorems from the Propositional Calculus of the Boolean Logic with their consequences and applications and we prove them axiomatically.
In this article one builds a class of recursive sets, one establishes properties of these sets, and one proposes applications.
In this paper one extends the binomial and trinomial coefficients to the concept of 'k-nomial' coefficients, and one obtains some properties of these. As an application one generalizes Pascal's triangle.
In this paper we propose a new family of Belief Conditioning Rules (BCRs) for belief revision. These rules are not directly related with the fusion of several sources of evidence but with the revision of a belief assignment available at a given time according to the new truth (i.e. conditioning constraint) one has about the space of solutions of the problem.
This paper introduces the notion of qualitative belief assignment to model beliefs of human experts expressed in natural language (with linguistic labels). We show how qualitative beliefs can be efficiently combined using an extension of Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT) of plausible and paradoxical quantitative reasoning to qualitative reasoning. We propose a new arithmetic on linguistic labels which allows a direct extension of classical DSm fusion rule or DSm Hybrid rules. An approximate qualitative PCR5 rule is also proposed jointly with a Qualitative Average Operator. We also show how crisp or interval mappings can be used to deal indirectly with linguistic labels. A very simple example is provided to illustrate our qualitative fusion rules.
In this book the authors probe into Vedic Mathematics (a concept that gained renown in the period of the religious fanatic and revivalist Hindutva rule in India): and explore whether it is really 'Vedic' in origin or 'Mathematics' in content. We analyzed this problem using fuzzy models like Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCM), Fuzzy Relational Maps (FRM) and the newly constructed fuzzy dynamical system (and its Neutrosophic analogue) that can analyze multi-experts opinion at a time using a single model. The issue of Vedic Mathematics involves religious politics, caste supremacy, apart from elementary arithmetic -- so we cannot use simple statistics for our analysis.
