Dynamical calculation of the $ΔΔ$ dibaryon candidates

We perform a dynamical calculation of the $ΔΔ$ dibaryon candidates with $IJ^{P}=03^{+}$ and $IJ^{P}=30^{+}$ in the framework of two constituent quark models: the quark delocalization color screening model and the chiral quark model. Our results show that the dibaryon resonances with $IJ^{P}=03^{+}$ and $IJ^{P}=30^{+}$ can be formed in both models. The mass and width of $IJ^{P}=03^{+}$ state are smaller than that of $IJ^{P}=30^{+}$ state due to the one-gluon-exchange interaction between quarks. The resonance mass and decay width of $IJ^{P}=03^{+}$ state in both models agree with that of the recent observed resonance in the reaction $pn \rightarrow dπ^{0}π^{0}$. The $IJ^{P}=30^{+}$ $ΔΔ$ is another dibaryon candidate with smaller binding energy and larger width. The hidden-color channel coupling is added to the chiral quark model, and we find it can lower the mass of the dibaryons by 10-20 MeV.

Possible $H$-like dibaryon states with heavy quarks

Possible $H$-like dibaryon states $Λ_{c}Λ_{c}$ and $Λ_{b}Λ_{b}$ are investigated within the framework of quark delocalization color screening model. The results show that the interaction between two $Λ_{c}$'s is repulsive, so it cannot be bound state by itself. However, the strong attraction in $Σ_{c}Σ_{c}$ and $Σ^{*}_{c}Σ^{*}_{c}$ channels and the strong channel coupling, due to the central interaction of one-gluon-exchange and one-pion-exchange, among $Λ_{c}Λ_{c}$, $Σ_{c}Σ_{c}$ and $Σ^{*}_{c}Σ^{*}_{c}$ push the energy of system below the threshold of $Λ_{c}Λ_{c}$ by $22$ MeV. The corresponding system $Λ_{b}Λ_{b}$ has the similar properties as that of $Λ_{c}Λ_{c}$ system, and a bound state is also possible in $Λ_{b}Λ_{b}$ system.

Baryonia and near-threshold enhancements

The baryon-antibaryon spectrum consisting of strange, charm and bottom quarks is studied in the color flux-tube model with a multi-body confinement interaction. Numerical results indicate that many low-spin baryon-antibaryon states can form compact hexaquark states and are stable against the decay into a baryon and an antibaryon. The multi-body confinement interaction as a binding mechanism plays an important role in the formation of the states. They can be searched in the $e^+e^-$ annihilation and charmonium or bottomonium decay if they really exist. The newly reported states, X(1835), X(2370), Y(2175), Y(4360) and Y_b(10890), may be interpreted as $N\bar{N}$, $Δ\barΔ$, $Λ\barΛ$, $Λ_c\barΛ_c$ and $Λ_b\barΛ_b$ states, respectively.

An optimal problem for relative entropy

Relative entropy is an essential tool in quantum information theory. There are so many problems which are related to relative entropy. In this article, the optimal values which are defined by $\displaystyle\max_{U\in{U(\cX_{d})}} S(Uρ{U^{\ast}}\parallelσ)$ and $\displaystyle\min_{U\in{U(\cX_{d})}} S(Uρ{U^{\ast}}\parallelσ)$ for two positive definite operators $ρ,σ\in{\textmd{Pd}(\cX)}$ are obtained. And the set of $S(Uρ{U^{\ast}}\parallelσ)$ for every unitary operator $U$ is full of the interval $[\displaystyle\min_{U\in{U(\cX_{d})}} S(Uρ{U^{\ast}}\parallelσ),\displaystyle\max_{U\in{U(\cX_{d})}} S(Uρ{U^{\ast}}\parallelσ)]$

Prescribed matchings extend to Hamiltonian cycles in hypercubes with faulty edges

Ruskey and Savage asked the following question: Does every matching of $Q_{n}$ for $n\geq2$ extend to a Hamiltonian cycle of $Q_{n}$? J. Fink showed that the question is true for every perfect matching, and solved the Kreweras' conjecture. In this paper we consider the question in hypercubes with faulty edges. We show that every matching $M$ of at most $2n-1$ edges can be extended to a Hamiltonian cycle of $Q_{n}$ for $n\geq2$. Moreover, we can prove that when $n\geq4$ and $M$ is nonempty this result still holds even if $Q_{n}$ has at most $n-1-\lceil\frac{|M|}{2}\rceil$ faulty edges with one exception.

QCD quark cyclobutadiene and light tetraquark spectrum

The QCD quark cyclobutadiene (ring-like), a new color structure of tetraquark system, is proposed and studied in the flux tube model with multi-body confinement potential. The QCD quark cyclobutadiene and other flux tube structures of tetraquark states have similar energies and they can be regarded as QCD isomeric compounds. The light tetraquark spectra ($u, d, s$ only) with ring-like and diquark-antidiquark structures are calculated in the flux tube model. The results show that many experimental states have the masses close to the calculated values if they are taken as tetraquark states. The isotensor states with $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ and $J^{PC}=2^{++}$ are studied and predicted that the masses are around 1500 MeV. The multi-body interaction plays a important role to reduce the energy of the multiquark state.

X(1835), X(2120) and X(2370) in a flux tube model

Nonstrange baryonium spectrum is systematically studied by using the Gaussian expansion method in a flux tube model with the six-body confinement potential. All the model parameters are fixed by baryon properties, so the baryonium calculation is parameter-free. We find that X(1835) and X(2370), which are observed in the radiative decay of $J/ψ$ by BES collaboration, can be described as $N_8\bar{N}_8$ and $Δ_8\barΔ_8$ bound states with quantum numbers $I^GJ^{PC}=0^+0^{-+}$, respectively, such bound states should be color confinement resonances with three-dimensional configurations similar to dumbbell, however, X(2120) can not be accommodated in our model.

New application of decomposition of U(1) gauge potential:Aharonov-Bohm effect and Anderson-Higgs mechanism

In this paper we study the Aharonov-Bohm (A-B) effect and Anderson-Higgs mechanism in Ginzburg-Landau model of superconductors from the perspective of the decomposition of U(1) gauge potential. By the Helmholtz theorem, we derive exactly the expression of the transverse gauge potential $\vec{A}_\perp$ in A-B experiment, which is gauge-invariant and physical. For the case of a bulk superconductor, we find that the gradient of the total phase field $θ$ provides the longitudinal component ${\vec A}_{\parallel}$, which reflects the Anderson-Higgs mechanism. For the case of a superconductor ring, the gradient of the longitudinal phase field $θ_1$ provides the longitudinal component ${\vec A}_{\parallel}$, while the transverse phase field $θ_2$ produces new physical effects such as the flux quantization inside a superconducting ring.

Study of $p\barΛ$ and $p\barΣ$ systems in constituent quark models

The $p\barΛ$ systems with J=0 and J=1 are dynamically investigated within the framework of two constituent quark models: the chiral quark model and the quark delocalization color screening model. The model parameters are taken from our previous work, which gave a good description of the proton-antiproton S-wave elastic scattering cross section experimental data. The $p\barΛ$ elastic scattering processes with coupling to $p\barΣ$ state are studied. The results show that, there is no s-wave bound state as indicated by an enhancement near the threshold of $p\barΛ$ in $J/ψ$ decay. However, a $IJ = {1/2}0$ $p\barΣ$ resonance state is given in the quark delocalization color screening model.

The effect of hidden color channels on nucleon-nucleon interaction in quark model

In the framework of constituent quark model, the effect of hidden color channels on the nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) interaction is studied. By adjusting the color confinement strength between the hidden color channels and color singlet channels and/or between the hidden color channels and hidden color channels, the experimental data of $S$ to $I$ partial-wave phase shifts of $NN$ scattering can be fitted well. The results show that the hidden color channel coupling might be important in producing the intermediate-range attraction of $NN$ interaction. The deuteron properties and dibaryon candidates have also been studied with this model.

Art of spin decomposition

We analyze the problem of spin decomposition for an interacting system from a natural perspective of constructing angular momentum eigenstates. We split, from the total angular momentum operator, a proper part which can be separately conserved for a stationary state. This part commutes with the total Hamiltonian and thus specifies the quantum angular momentum. We first show how this can be done in a gauge-dependent way, by seeking a specific gauge in which part of the total angular momentum operator vanishes identically. We then construct a gauge-invariant operator with the desired property. Our analysis clarifies what is the most pertinent choice among the various proposals for decomposing the nucleon spin. A similar analysis is performed for extracting a proper part from the total Hamiltonian to construct energy eigenstates.

Proper identification of the gluon spin

Properties of the recently proposed gauge-invariant gluon spin $S_g$ are studied and compared to the usually defined "gluon polarization" $Δg$. By explicit 1-loop calculations in a quark state, it is found that $S_g= \frac 59Δg$. Furthermore, $\frac 45$ of $S_g$ can actually be identified as a "static-field" contribution and shown to cancel exactly an analogous static term in the gluon orbital angular momentum $L_g$, leaving $S_g+L_g$ unaltered. These observations suggest that if properly identified, the gluon contribution to the nucleon spin may be drastically smaller than in the conventional wisdom.

Gauge-invariant momentum and angular momentum operators in quantum electrodynamics and chromodynamics

Differences between vector potentials in different gauges contain no dynamics in both classical and quantum electrodynamics and chromodynamics. Consequently, once gauge invariance is established, results calculated in non-covariant gauges can be expected to agree with results obtained in covariant gauges in all Lorentz frames. We show in particular that canonical quantization in the Coulomb gauge can be used without giving up explicit gauge invariance. Quantization in the Coulomb gauge is particularly simple because it involves only the two transverse photons/gluons present in all gauges. These transverse photons/gluons reside on a 2-dimensional physical plane in momentum space perpendicular to the photon/gluon momentum {\bf k}. Explicit expressions are given for the basic momentum, spin and orbital angular momentum field operators of photons/gluons in the Coulomb gauge. Their properties are discussed in some detail. In particular, these field operators are shown to be more complicated than the corresponding operators in quantum mechanics which they also contain.

Gauge invariant hydrogen atom Hamiltonian

For quantum mechanics of a charged particle in a classical external electromagnetic field, there is an apparent puzzle that the matrix element of the canonical momentum and Hamiltonian operators is gauge dependent. A resolution to this puzzle is recently provided by us in [2]. Based on the separation of the electromagnetic potential into pure gauge and gauge invariant parts, we have proposed a new set of momentum and Hamiltonian operators which satisfy both the requirement of gauge invariance and the relevant commutation relations. In this paper we report a check for the case of the hydrogen atom problem: Starting from the Hamiltonian of the coupled electron, proton and electromagnetic field, under the infinite proton mass approximation, we derive the gauge invariant hydrogen atom Hamiltonian and verify explicitly that this Hamiltonian is different from the Dirac Hamiltonian, which is the time translation generator of the system. The gauge invariant Hamiltonian is the energy operator, whose eigenvalue is the energy of the hydrogen atom. It is generally time-dependent. In this case, one can solve the energy eigenvalue equation at any specific instant of time. It is shown that the energy eigenvalues are gauge independent, and by suitably choosing the phase factor of the time-dependent eigenfunction, one can ensure that the time-dependent eigenfunction satisfies the Dirac equation.

Reply to the Comment of X. Ji on "Do gluons carry half of the nucleon momentum?" [PRL 103:062001 (2009)]

We affirm that the proper momentum defined in [PRL 103:062001 (2009)] does respect exact gauge symmetry and is as measurable as the kinetic momentum. The physical part of the gauge field is also as measurable as the electromagnetic field. The Comment of Ji [arXiv:0910.5022] is due to a misunderstanding of our work, and a typical confusion of our gauge-invariant formalism with the specific Coulomb-gauge calculation.

The application of gauge invariance and canonical quantization to the internal structure of gauge field systems

It is unavoidable to deal with the quark and gluon momentum and angular momentum contributions to the nucleon momentum and spin in the study of nucleon internal structure. However, we never have the quark and gluon momentum, orbital angular momentum and gluon spin operators which satisfy both the gauge invariance and the canonical momentum and angular momentum commutation relation. The conflicts between the gauge invariance and canonical quantization requirement of these operators are discussed. A new set of quark and gluon momentum, orbital angular momentum and spin operators, which satisfy both the gauge invariance and canonical momentum and angular momentum commutation relation, are proposed. The key point to achieve such a proper decomposition is to separate the gauge field into the pure gauge and the gauge covariant parts. The same conflicts also exist in QED and quantum mechanics and have been solved in the same manner. The impacts of this new decomposition to the nucleon internal structure are discussed.

Do gluons carry half of the nucleon momentum?

We examine the conventional picture that gluons carry about half of the nucleon momentum in the asymptotic limit. We reveal that this large fraction is due to an unsuitable definition of the gluon momentum in an interacting theory. If defined in a gauge-invariant and consistent way, the asymptotic gluon momentum fraction is computed to be only about one fifth. This result suggests that the asymptotic limit of the nucleon spin structure should also be reexamined. Possible experimental test of our finding is discussed in terms of novel parton distribution functions.
