Light induced Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in Superconducting Films

We report a light-driven non-equilibrium vortex Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition in a superconductor. We use a time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau model to demonstrate vortex-antivortex deconfinement via light induced fields. The transformation occurs independently of thermal fluctuations and is viewed as a quantum phase transition. The resulting phase map mirrors QCD phase diagram, delineating confined, premelted, and fully deconfined vortex phases. The nature of these phases is discussed. Transitions between phases are governed by light induced depairing and phase fluctuations, establishing a new class of light-induced topological transitions.

Schur-Weyl Duality for Toroidal Algebras of Type $A$

We state and prove an analog of the Schur-Weyl duality for a quotient of the classical $2$-toroidal Lie algebra of type $A$. We then provide a method to extend this duality to the $m$-toroidal case, $m > 2$.

Framework for Certification of AI-Based Systems

The current certification process for aerospace software is not adapted to "AI-based" algorithms such as deep neural networks. Unlike traditional aerospace software, the precise parameters optimized during neural network training are as important as (or more than) the code processing the network and they are not directly mathematically understandable. Despite their lack of explainability such algorithms are appealing because for some applications they can exhibit high performance unattainable with any traditional explicit line-by-line software methods. This paper proposes a framework and principles that could be used to establish certification methods for neural network models for which the current certification processes such as DO-178 cannot be applied. While it is not a magic recipe, it is a set of common sense steps that will allow the applicant and the regulator increase their confidence in the developed software, by demonstrating the capabilities to bring together, trace, and track the requirements, data, software, training process, and test results.

Bases for local Weyl modules for the hyper and truncated current $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-algebras

We use the theory of Gr\"obner-Shirshov bases for ideals to construct linear bases for graded local Weyl modules for the (hyper) current and the truncated current algebras associated to the finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. The main result is a characteristic-free construction of bases for this important family of modules for the hyper current $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-algebra. In the positive characteristic setting this work represents the first construction in the literature. In the characteristic zero setting, the method provides a different construction of the Chari-Pressley (also Kus-Littelmann) bases and the Chari-Venkatesh bases for local Weyl modules for the current $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-algebra. Our construction allows us to obtain new bases for the local Weyl modules for truncated current $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-algebras with very particular properties.

Grain Boundary Resistance in Copper Interconnects from an Atomistic Model to a Neural Network

Orientation effects on the resistivity of copper grain boundaries are studied systematically with two different atomistic tight binding methods. A methodology is developed to model the resistivity of grain boundaries using the Embedded Atom Model, tight binding methods and non-equilibrum Green's functions (NEGF). The methodology is validated against first principles calculations for small, ultra-thin body grain boundaries (<5nm) with 6.4% deviation in the resistivity. A statistical ensemble of 600 large, random structures with grains is studied. For structures with three grains, it is found that the distribution of resistivities is close to normal. Finally, a compact model for grain boundary resistivity is constructed based on a neural network.

Some remarks on Hall algebra of bound quiver

In this paper we describe the twisted Hall algebra of bound quiver with small homological dimension. The description is given in the terms of the quadratic form associated with the corresponding bound quiver.
