Cosmological Constant in a Model with Superstring-Inspired E_6 Unification and Shadow Theta-Particles

We have developed a concept of parallel existence of the ordinary (O) and mirror (M), or shadow (Sh) worlds. In the first part of the paper we consider a mirror world with broken mirror parity and the breaking $E_6\to SU(3)^3$ in both worlds. We show that in this case the evolutions of coupling constants in the O- and M-worlds are not identical, having different parameters for similar evolutions. $E_6$ unification, inspired by superstring theory, restores the broken mirror parity at the scale $\sim 10^{18}$ GeV. With the aim to explain the tiny cosmological constant, in the second part we consider the breakings: $E_6 \to SO(10)\times U(1)_Z$ -- in the O-world, and $E'_6 \to SU(6)'\times SU(2)'_θ$ -- in the Sh-world. We assume the existence of shadow $θ$-particles and the low energy symmetry group $SU(3)'_C\times SU(2)'_L\times SU(2)'_θ\times U(1)'_Y$ in the shadow world, instead of the Standard Model. The additional non-Abelian $SU(2)'_θ$ group with massless gauge fields, "theton", has a macroscopic confinement radius $1/Λ'_θ$. The assumption that $Λ'_θ\approx 2.3\cdot 10^{-3}$ eV explains the tiny cosmological constant given by recent astrophysical measurements. In this way the present work opens the possibility to specify a grand unification group, such as $E_6$, from Cosmology.

Astrophysical Implications of the Superstring-Inspired E_6 Unification and Shadow Theta-Particles

We have developed a concept of parallel existence of the ordinary (O) and mirror (M), or shadow (Sh) worlds. E_6 unification, inspired by superstring theory, restores the broken mirror parity at the scale ~ 10^18 GeV. With the aim to explain the tiny cosmological constant, we consider the breakings: E_6 -> SO(10) X U(1)_Z - in the O-world, and E'_6 -> SU(6)' X SU(2)'_θ- in the Sh-world. We assume the existence of shadow θ-particles and the low energy symmetry group SU(3)'_C X SU(2)'_L X SU(2)'_θX U(1)'_Y in the shadow world, instead of the Standard Model. The additional non-Abelian SU(2)'_θgroup with massless gauge fields, "thetons", has a macroscopic confinement radius 1/Λ'_θ. The assumption that Λ'_θ\approx 2.3 X 10^-3 eV explains the tiny cosmological constant given by recent astrophysical measurements. Searching for the Dark Matter (DM), it is possible to observe and study various signals of theta-particles.

New Bound States of Top and Beauty Quarks at the Tevatron and LHC

The present paper is based on the assumption that heavy quarks bound states exist in the Standard Model (SM). Considering New Bound States (NBS) of top-anti-top quarks (named T-balls) we have shown that: 1) there exists the scalar 1S-bound state of 6t+6\bar t; 2) the forces which bind the top-quarks are very strong and almost completely compensate the mass of the twelve top-anti-top-quarks in the scalar NBS; 3) such strong forces are produced by the Higgs-top-quarks interaction with a large value of the top-quark Yukawa coupling constant g_t\simeq 1. Theory also predicts the existence of the NBS 6t + 5\bar t, which is a color triplet and a fermion similar to the t'-quark of the fourth generation. We have also considered the "b-quark-replaced" NBS. We have estimated the masses of the lightest fermionic NBS: M_{NBS}\gtrsim 300 GeV, and discussed the larger masses of T-balls. Searching for heavy quarks bound states at the Tevatron and LHC is discussed.

Neutrino Dipole Moments and Solar Experiments

First we investigate the possibility of detecting solar antineutrinos with the KamLAND experiment. Then we analyze the first Borexino data release to constrain the neutrino magnetic moment. Finally we investigate the resonant spin flavour conversion of solar neutrinos to sterile ones, a mechanism which is added to the well known LMA one. In this last condition, we show that the data from all solar neutrino experiments except Borexino exhibit a clear preference for a sizable magnetic field. We argue that the solar neutrino experiments are capable of tracing the possible modulation of the solar magnetic field. In this way Borexino alone may play an essential role although experimental redundancy from other experiments will be most important.

Mechanism of recrystallization process in epitaxial GaN under dynamic stress field - Atomistic origin of planar defect formation

The mechanism of recrystallization in epitaxial (1000) GaN film, introduced by indentation technique, is probed by lattice dynamic studies using Raman spectroscopy. The recrystallized region is identified by Micro-Raman area mapping. Pop-in bursts in loading lines indicate nucleation of dislocations and climb of dislocations. These processes set in plastic motion of lattice atoms under stress field at the center of indentation for the initiation of recrystallization process. A planar defect migration mechanism is evolved. A pivotal role of vacancy migration is pointed out, for the first time, as the rate limiting factor for the dislocation dynamics initiating the recrystallization process in GaN.

Light sterile neutrinos, spin flavour precession and the solar neutrino experiments

We generalize to three active flavours a previous two flavour model for the resonant spin flavour conversion of solar neutrinos to sterile ones, a mechanism which is added to the well known LMA one. The transition magnetic moments from the muon and tau neutrinos to the sterile play the dominant role in fixing the amount of active flavour suppression. We also show, through numerical integration of the evolution equations, that the data from all solar neutrino experiments except Borexino exhibit a clear preference for a sizable magnetic field either in the convection zone or in the core and radiation zone. This is possibly related to the fact that the data from the first set are average ones taken during a period of mostly intense solar activity, whereas in contrast Borexino data were taken during a period of quiet sun. We argue that the solar neutrino experiments are capable of tracing the possible modulation of the solar magnetic field. Those monitoring the high energy neutrinos, namely the $^8 B$ flux, appear to be sensitive to a field modulation either in the convection zone or in the core and radiation zone. Those monitoring the low energy fluxes will be sensitive to the second type of solar field profiles only. In this way Borexino alone may play an essential role, since it examines both energy sectors, although experimental redundance from other experiments will be most important.

New Bound States of Top-anti-Top Quarks and T-balls Production at Colliders (Tevatron, LHC, etc.)

The present talk is based on the assumption that New Bound States (NBSs) of top-anti-top quarks (named T-balls) exist in the Standard Model (SM): a) there exists the scalar 1S - bound state of 6t+6\bar t - the bound state of 6 top-quarks with their 6 anti-top-quarks; b) the forces which bind these top-quarks are very strong and almost completely compensate the mass of the 12 top-anti-top-quarks forming this bound state; c) such strong forces are produced by the interactions of top-quarks via the virtual exchange of the scalar Higgs bosons having the large value of the top-quark Yukawa coupling constant g_t\simeq 1. Theory also predicts the existence of the NBS 6t + 5\bar t, which is a color triplet and a fermion similar to the t'-quark of the fourth generation. We have also considered "b-replaced" NBSs: n_b b + (6t + 6\bar t - n_b t) and n'_b b + (6t + 5\bar t - n'_b t), etc. We have estimated the masses of the lightest "b-replaced" NBS: M_{NBS}\simeq (300 - 400) GeV, and discussed the larger masses of the NBSs. We have developed a theory of the scalar T-ball's condensate, and predicted the existence of the three SM phases, calculating the top-quark Yukawa coupling constant at the border of two phases (with T-ball's condensate and without it) equal to: g_t \approx 1. The searching for the Higgs boson H and T-balls at the Tevatron and LHC is discussed.

Seesaw scales and the steps from the Standard Model towards superstring-inspired flipped E_6

Recently in connection with Superstring theory E_8 and E_6 unifications became very promising. In the present paper we have investigated a number of available paths from the Standard Model (SM) to the E_6 unification, considering a chain of flipped models following the extension of the SM: SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y \to SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_X \times U(1)_Z \to SU(5)\times U(1)_X \to SU(5)\times U(1)_{Z1} \times U(1)_{X1} \to SO(10) \times U(1)_{X1} \to SO(10) \times U(1)_{Z2}\times U(1)_{X2} \to E_6\times U(1)_{X2} or E_6, Also we have considered a chain with a left-right symmetry: SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y \to SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R\times U(1)_X\times U(1)_Z \to SU(4)_C\times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R\times U(1)_Z \to SO(10)\times U(1)_Z \to E_6. We have presented four examples including non-supersymmetric and supersymmetric extensions of the SM and different contents of the Higgs bosons providing the breaking of the flipped SO(10) and SU(5) down to the SM. It was shown that the final unification E_6\times U(1) or E_6 at the (Planck) GUT scale M_{SSG} depends on the number of the Higgs boson representations considered in theory.

A complete Raman mapping of phase transitions in Si under indentation

Crystalline Si substrates are studied for pressure induced phase transformation under indentation at room temperature using Berkovich tip. Raman scattering study is used for the identification of the transformed phases. Raman line as well as area mapping are used for locating the phases in the indented region. Calculation of pressure contours in the indented region is used for understanding the phase distribution. We report here a comprehensive study of all the phases of Si, reported so far, leading to possible understanding of material properties useful for possible electromechanical applications. As a major finding, distribution of amorphous phase in the indented region deviates from the conventional wisdom of being in the central region alone. We present phase mapping results for both Si(100) and Si(111) substrates.

Recrystallization of epitaxial GaN under indentation

We report recrystallization of epitaxial (epi-) GaN(0001) film under indentation.Hardness value is measured close to 10 GPa, using a Berkovich indenter. Pop-in burst in the loading line indicates nucleation of dislocations setting in plastic motion of lattice atoms under stress field for the recrystallization process. Micro-Raman studies are used to identify the recrystallization process. Raman area mapping indicates the crystallized region. Phonon mode corresponding to E2(high) close to 570 cm-1 in the as-grown epi-GaN is redshifted to stress free value close to 567 cm-1 in the indented region. Evolution of A1(TO) and E1(TO) phonon modes are also reported to signify the recrystallization process.

Spontaneous symmetry breakdown in fuzzy spheres

We study and analyse the questions regarding breakdown of global symmetry on noncommutative sphere. We demonstrate this by considering a complex scalar field on a fuzzy sphere and isolating Goldstone modes. We discuss the role of nonlocal interactions present in these through geometrical considerations.

Mirror World with Broken Mirror Parity, E(6) Unification and Cosmology

In the present paper we have developed a concept of parallel ordinary (O) and mirror (M) worlds. We have shown that in the case of a broken mirror parity (MP), the evolutions of fine structure constants in the O- and M-worlds are not identical. It is assumed that E_6-unification inspired by superstring theory restores the broken MP at the scale \sim 10^{18} GeV, what unavoidably leads to the different E_6-breakdowns at this scale: E_6 \to SO(10)\times U(1)_Z - in the O-world, and E'_6 \to SU(6)'\times SU(2)'_Z - in the M-world. Considering only asymptotically free theories, we have presented the running of all the inverse gauge constants α_i^{-1} in the one-loop approximation. Then a `quintessence' scenario is discussed for our model of accelerating universe. Such a scenario is related with an axion (`acceleron') of a new gauge group SU(2)'_Z which has a coupling constant g_Z extremely growing at the scale Λ_Z\sim 10^{-3} eV.

Finite temperature phase transition of a single scalar field on a fuzzy sphere

We study finite temperature phase transition of neutral scalar field on a fuzzy sphere using Monte Carlo simulations. We work with the zero mode in the temporal directions, while the effects of the higher modes are taken care by the temperature dependence of r. In the numerical calculations we use "pseudo-heatbath" method which reduces the auto-correlation considerably. Our results agree with the conventional calculations. We report some new results which show the presence of meta-stable states and also suggest that for suitable choice of parameters the symmetry breaking transition is of first order.

Precision and uncertainties in mass scale predictions in SUSY SO(10) with SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_{B-L} x SU(3)_C intermediate breaking

In a class of SUSY SO(10) with $SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_{B-L} x SU(3)_C$ $(g_{2L}\neq g_{2R})$ intermediate gauge symmetry, we observe that the prediction on the unification mass $(M_U)$ is unaffected by Planck-scale-induced gravitational and intermediate-scale-threshold effects, although the intermediate scale $(M_I)$ itself is subject to such corrections. In particular, without invoking the presence of additional lighter scalar degrees of freedom but including plausible and reasonable threshold effects, we find that interesting solutions for neutrino physics corresponding to $M_I\simeq 10^{10}-10^{13}$ GeV and $M_U\simeq (5-6) x 10^{17}$ GeV are permitted in the minimal models. Possibilities of low-mass right-handed gauge bosons corresponding to $M_I\simeq 1-10$ TeV consistent with the CERN-LEP data are pointed out in a number of models when threshold effects are included using effective mass parameters.

Composite model of quark-leptons and duality

In the present investigation the model of preons and their composites is constructed in the framework of the superstring-inspired flipped E_6\times \tilde E_6 gauge group of symmetry which reveals a generalized dual symmetry. We assume that preons are dyons, which in our model are confined by hyper-magnetic strings - composite N = 1 supersymmetric non-Abelian flux tubes created by the condensation of spreons near the Planck scale. We show that the six types of strings having fluxes Φ_n = nΦ_0 (n = \pm 1,\pm 2,\pm 3) produce three generations of composite quark-leptons and bosons. We give an explanation of hierarchies of masses in the Standard Model. The following values of masses obtained in our preonic model: m_t\approx 173 GeV, m_c\approx 1 GeV and m_u\approx 4 MeV, m_b \approx 4 GeV, m_s\approx 140 MeV and m_d\approx 4 MeV, m_τ\approx 2 GeV \quad and m_μ\approx 100 MeV, are in agreement with the experimentally known results. The following left-handed neutrino masses are predicted: m_1\approx 1.3\times 10^{-3} eV, m_2\approx 9.2\times 10^{-3} eV, m_3\approx 5.0\times 10^{-2} eV - for direct hierarchy, m_1\approx 0.73\times 10^{-2} eV, m_2\approx 7.4\times 10^{-2} eV, m_3\approx 5.5\times 10^{-2} eV - for inverted hierarchy.

Are Preons Dyons? Naturalness of Three Generations

In the present paper a model of preons and their composites is constructed in the framework of the superstring-inspired `flipped' E_6\times \widetilde{E_6} gauge symmetry group which reveals a generalized dual symmetry. Here E_6 and \widetilde{E_6} are non-dual and dual sectors of the theory with hyper-electric g and hyper-magnetic \tilde g charges, respectively. We follow the old idea by J. Pati presuming that preons are dyons, which in our model are confined by hyper-magnetic strings -- composite {\bf N}=1 supersymmetric non-Abelian flux tubes created by the condensation of spreons near the Planck scale. Considering preons belonging to the 27-plet of E_6, we have investigated the breakdown of E_6 (and \widetilde{E_6}) near the Planck scale into the SU(6)\times U(1) (and \widetilde{SU(6)}\times \widetilde{U(1)}) gauge group and shown that the six types of strings having fluxes Φ_n=nΦ_0 (n=\pm 1,\pm 2,\pm 3) produce three (and only three) generations of composite quark-leptons and bosons. The model predicts the existence of the Family replicated gauge group [E_6]^3 near the Planck scale. The runnings of the corresponding fine structure constants are investigated, and the critical coupling constants at the two phase transition points near the Planck scale are calculated. The model explains the hierarchies of masses in the Standard Model naturally. The compactification in a space-time with five dimensions and its influence on form-factors of composite objects are also briefly discussed.

Dyons near the Planck scale

In the present letter we suggest a new model of preons-dyons making composite quark-leptons and bosons, described by the supersymmetric string-inspired flipped E_6\times \tilde E_6 gauge group of symmetry. This investigation predicts the possible extension of the Standard Model to the Family replicated gauge group model of type G^{N_{fam}}, where N_{fam} is the number of families. Here E_6 and \tilde E_6 are non-dual and dual sectors of theory with hyper-electric g and hyper-magnetic \tilde g charges, respectively. Our model is based on the recent theory of composite non-Abelian flux tubes in SQCD. Considering the breakdown of E_6 (and \tilde E_6) at the Planck scale into the SU(6)\times U(1) gauge group, we have shown that the six types of composite N = 1 supersymmetric non-Abelian flux tubes are created by the condensation of spreons-dyons near the Planck scale and have fluxes quantized according to the Z_6 center group of SU(6): Φ_n = nΦ_0 (n = \pm 1,\pm 2,\pm 3). These fluxes give three types of k-strings with tensions T_k = kT_0, where k = 1,2,3, and produce three generations of composite quark-leptons and bosons. Thus, the present model predicts N_{gen} = N_{fam} = 3. The condensation of spreons near the Planck scale gives the phase transition at scales M_{crit} and \tilde M_{crit}, and we have calculated the critical values of gauge coupling constants.
