Universal Science of Complexity: Consistent Understanding of Ecological, Living and Intelligent System Dynamics

A major challenge of interdisciplinary description of complex system behaviour is whether real systems of higher complexity levels can be understood with at least the same degree of objective, "scientific" rigour and universality as "simple" systems of classical, Newtonian science paradigm. The problem is reduced to that of arbitrary, many-body interaction (unsolved in standard theory). Here we review its causally complete solution, the ensuing concept of complexity and applications. The discovered key properties of dynamic multivaluedness and entanglement give rise to a qualitatively new kind of mathematical structure providing the exact version of real system behaviour. The extended mathematics of complexity contains the truly universal definition of dynamic complexity, randomness (chaoticity), classification of all possible dynamic regimes, and the unifying principle of any system dynamics and evolution, the universal symmetry of complexity. Every real system has a non-zero (and actually high) value of unreduced dynamic complexity determining, in particular, "mysterious" behaviour of quantum systems and relativistic effects causally explained now as unified manifestations of complex interaction dynamics. The observed differences between various systems are due to different regimes and levels of their unreduced dynamic complexity. We outline applications of universal concept of dynamic complexity emphasising cases of "truly complex" systems from higher complexity levels (ecological and living systems, brain operation, intelligence and consciousness, autonomic information and communication systems) and show that the urgently needed progress in social and intellectual structure of civilisation inevitably involves qualitative transition to unreduced complexity understanding (we call it "revolution of complexity").

Climate Change: The Sun's Role

The sun's role in the earth's recent warming remains controversial even though there is a good deal of evidence to support the thesis that solar variations are a very significant factor in driving climate change both currently and in the past. This precis lays out the background and data needed to understand the basic scientific argument behind the contention that variations in solar output have a significant impact on current changes in climate. It also offers a simple, phenomenological approach for estimating the actual-as opposed to model dependent-magnitude of the sun's influence on climate.

Superconductors described with CSM.(a new paper, 2008-10-16)

The properties of the known superconductors can be explained with the correlations dominated superconducting mechanism (CSM). The correlations have the spin correlation, the charge correlation and the spin-charge correlation, and their strengths can be described by the related correlation lengths in their correlation functions. Our evaluation from many superconductors is that superconductivities occur if both the spin correlation and the charge correlation are stronger, and the calculation of a Hubbard model showed that the spin-charge correlation may govern superconductivities1. Afterwards, this mechanism has led a model which includes various superconductivities and magnetisms, and the relation between superconductivities and magnetisms can be understood on this model2 (these results have been shown by calculations). This mechanism is very practical, for example, to turn a material into a superconductor or increase the Tc of a superconductor, what we will do is to increase the spin-charge correlation. In this letter, we first describe the relations between the spin-charge correlation, the spin correlation and the charge correlation, take these relations as the basis of constructing a new phase diagram, and then classify the known superconductors into various sections in this phase diagram. This letter also gives a new explanation about the pressure effect on Tc, the isotope effect on Tc and the pairing symmetry with the CSM.

The informational model - possible tests

In our previous arXiv papers (more systematically the informational conception is presented in the paper "The Information as Absolute", 2010) it was rigorously shown that Matter in our Universe - and Universe as a whole - are some informational systems (structures), which exist as uninterruptedly transforming [practically] infinitesimal sub-sets in the absolutely infinite and fundamental set "Information". Such a conception allows to suggest a reasonable physical model that is based on the conjecture that Matter is some analogue of computer (more correct - of a [huge] number of mutually comparatively independent automata). The conjecture, in turn, allows introducing in the model the basic logical elements that constitute the material structures and support the informational exchange - i.e. the forces - between the structures. The model yet now makes more clear a number of basic problems in special relativity, quantum mechanics, and, rather probably, in [now - in Newtonian] gravity. In this paper some possible experiments for the model testing are considered.

Extensivity and Relativistic Thermodynamics

The mathematical properties associated with the widely accepted concept of the extensivity of many of the common thermodynamic variables are examined and some of their consequences considered. The possible conflict between some of these and currently accepted results of special relativistic thermodynamics is highlighted. Although several questions are raised, answers are not advanced as this seems an area demanding calm, widespread reflection which could conceivably lead to radical revision of part, or parts, of theoretical physics.

Established pseudo solution of second-order Dirac-Coulomb equation with position-dependent mass

We show that one of exact solutions of the second-order Dirac-Coulomb equation were pseudo. In the corresponding original literature, it was considered that the mass of the electron with a Coulomb potential was position-dependent, but the obtained eigenvalues set was not the inevitable mathematical deduction of the given second-order Dirac equation, and the second-order Dirac equations were not the inevitable mathematical deduction of the given couplet first-order Dirac equation with the position-dependent mass of the electron. In the present paper, we obtain the correct solution of the introduced first-order differential equations. This new solution would be tenable only when the wave equation is correct, but there is not any experiment date to validate the so-called position-dependent of the electron in the Coulomb field.

Unheeded pseudo solution of Dirac-Coulomb equations with an indirect transformation of functions

We open out one of incorrect solutions of the Driac equation in the Coulomb field given in a published paper. By introducing a transformation of function, the paper transformed the original radial first-order Dirac-Coulomb equation into two second-order Dirac-Coulomb equation. However, each of the second-order differential equations has differential energy eigenvalues set. The original paper wrote the two differential equations into one of forms, and then gave the distinguished energy eigenvalues. The mathematical procedure is not correct. For the same quantum system, introducing a transformation of function yields two different energy eigenvaluse, the result violates the uniqueness of solution. It actually shows that the given second-order differential equations have no solution. On the other hand, the given formal solutions of the second-order Dirac-Coulomb equations violate the conditions for determining solution. Consequently, the solutions given by the author are pseudo solution, and the corresponding energy eigenvalues set is also a pseudo eigenvalues set.

Historical pseudo simplified solution of the Dirac-Coulomb equation

One of the simplified solutions of the Dirac equations with the pure Coulomb potential given in a paper published in 1985 is pseudo. The original paper solved the Dirac equations by introducing a transformation of functions with two strange parameters a and b to transform the original system of the first-order differential equations into two uncoupled differential equations of second order. However, not only the given eigenvalues sets violate the uniqueness of solution but also the said second-order equations are not any necessarily mathematical deduction. In order to determine the introduced parameters, formally, the author actually introduced some self-contradictory mathematical formulas, such as sinh(theta)=2ab, cosh(theta)=a^2+b^2, tanh(theta)=-Z(alpha)/k, a^2-b^2=1, b=sinh((theta/2), a=cosh((theta/2). But one has not known the value of the parameters a and b all the while, whereas the parameters were insensibly deleted in the given second-order Dirac-Coulomb equation last. One cannot recover any result given in the paper by making corresponding correctly mathematical calculations.

Interaction, Change, and Wholeness of Material Things

Interaction is the mode of being of material things amid other material things and the driving force of change and wholeness. Through mutual influence, changes of interacting things become interdependent and their properties interrelated, which leads to formation of ensembles - material wholes of correlated things, where the mode of being of a particular component depends on the modes of being of all other components and vice versa. Every ensemble attains its wholeness and becomes a physical body through togetherness of interrelated components coexisting as a collective being with mutually restrained internal motion. Properties of ensembles on all structural levels of matter composition emerge through the collective being of components.

Study on the energy criterion of cuprate superconductivity

In this paper, we use the variation of spontaneous magnetization to describe the influence of electron holes in cuprate superconductors, and use competitive energy relations to explore the superconductivity rule and energy criterion, on this basis, we can deduce a clear physical image of superconducting phase diagram and superconducting mechanism.

The Quantum-Like Brain Operating on Subcognitive and Cognitive Time Scales

We propose a {\it quantum-like} (QL) model of the functioning of the brain. It should be sharply distinguished from the reductionist {\it quantum} model. By the latter cognition is created by {\it physical quantum processes} in the brain. The crucial point of our modelling is that discovery of the mathematical formalism of quantum mechanics (QM) was in fact discovery of a very general formalism describing {\it consistent processing of incomplete information} about contexts (physical, mental, economic, social). The brain is an advanced device which developed the ability to create a QL representation of contexts. Therefore its functioning can also be described by the mathematical formalism of QM. The possibility of such a description has nothing to do with composing of the brain of quantum systems (photons, electrons, protons,...). Moreover, we shall propose a model in that the QL representation is based on conventional neurophysiological model of the functioning of the brain. The brain uses the QL rule (given by von Neumann trace formula) for calculation of {\it approximative averages} for mental functions, but the physical basis of mental functions is given by neural networks in the brain. The QL representation has a {\it temporal basis.} Any cognitive process is based on (at least) two time scales: subcognitive time scale (which is very fine) and cognitive time scale (which is essentially coarser).

Quantum and Classical Variance in the Quantum Realm

This paper examines the variance of quantum and classical predictions in the quantum realm, as well as unexpected presence and absence of variances. Some features are found that share an indirect commonality with the Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects in that there is a quantum action in the absence of a force. Variances are also found in the presence of a force that are more subtle as they are of higher order. Significant variances related to the harmonic oscillator and particle in a box periods are found. This paper raises the question whether apparent quantum self-inconsistency may be examined internally, or must be empirically ascertained. These inherent variances may either point to inconsistencies in quantum mechanics that should be fixed, or that nature is manifestly more non-classical than expected. For the harmonic oscillator it is proven that the second spatial moment is the same in QM and CM.

Optical-Fiber Gravitational Wave Detector: Dynamical 3-Space Turbulence Detected

Preliminary results from an optical-fiber gravitational wave interferometric detector are reported. The detector is very small, cheap and simple to build and operate. It is assembled from readily available opto-electronic components. A parts list is given. The detector can operate in two modes: one in which only instrument noise is detected, and data from a 24 hour period is reported for this mode, and in a 2nd mode in which the gravitational waves are detected as well, and data from a 24 hour period is analysed. Comparison shows that the instrument has a high S/N ratio. The frequency spectrum of the gravitational waves shows a pink noise spectrum, from 0 to 0.1Hz.

The quantummechanical wave equations from a relativistic viewpoint

A derivation is presented of the quantummechanical wave equations based upon the Equity Principle of Einstein's General Relativity Theory. This is believed to be more generic than the common derivations based upon Einstein's energy relationship for moving particles. It is shown that Schrodinger's Equation, if properly formulated, is relativisticly covariant. This makes the critisized Klein-Gordon Equation for spinless massparticles obsolete. Therefore Dirac's Equation is presented from a different viewpoint and it is shown that the relativistic covariance of Schrodinger's Equation gives a natural explanation for the dual energy outcome of Dirac's derivation and for the nature of antiparticles. The propagation of wave functions in an energy field is studied in terms of propagation along geodesic lines in curved space-time, resulting in an equivalent formulation as with Feynman's path integral. It is shown that Maxwell's wave equation fits in the developed framework as the massless limit of moving particles. Finally the physical appearance of electrons is discussed including a quantitative calculation of the jitter phenomenon of a free moving electron.

Observations on the motion of a Tachyon

Some aspects of the motion of a tachyon is discussed. It is shown that the inertial frame Sigma-Prime around which the tachyon switches the direction of its motion, does not observe any movement of the tachyon at all. Inertial frames on either side of Sigma-Prime observe the tachyon to be moving at very large speeds but in opposite direction. Sigma-Prime itself observes only a sudden appearance and immediate disappearance of a long rod like object. Thus unbounded speeds in either direction give the same result in the limit. This suggests that negative numbers as a physical quantity are not meaningful. Subtraction can be used integral to a formula but the final result has to be interpreted with a positive answer. This means the abstract quantity -infinity indicating an unbounded negative number is not meaningful. The situation is also compared with Tan (Pi/2)+ and Tan(Pi/2)-. The conclusion is that in the limit, travel at unbounded speed is direction independent and gives the connotation of many identities to the same particle.

The two dimensional spin and its resonance fringe

Violation of Bell's Inequalities gives experimental evidence for the existence of a spin 1/2 which has two simultaneous axes of spin quantization rather than one. These couple to form a resonance state, called the spin fringe, and this quantum effect is solely responsible for violation of Bell's Inequalities within this model. The Bell states can be represented by products of these spin states and leads to the intuitive concept that as entangled states decompose they form biparticles that are not entangled. In EPR coincidence experiments filter settings for both the Bell and CHSH forms of Bell's Inequalities are rationalized in terms of the correlation between biparticles.
