$L^p$-Convergence Rate of Backward Euler Schemes for Monotone SDEs

We give a unified method to derive the strong convergence rate of the backward Euler scheme for monotone SDEs in $L^p(Ω)$-norm, with general $p \ge 4$. The results are applied to the backward Euler scheme of SODEs with polynomial growth coefficients. We also generalize the argument to the Galerkin-based backward Euler scheme of SPDEs with polynomial growth coefficients driven by multiplicative trace-class noise.

Entropy and Distributed Source Coding of Connected Soft Random Geometric Graphs

We consider the distributed compression of Soft Random Geometric Graphs (SRGGs) above the connectivity threshold. We establish the Slepian-Wolf rate region for the SRGG in the setting where there are a finite number of encoders compressing sections of the graph independently. To do so, we prove novel limit theorems and asymptotic equipartition properties for the SRGG and its entropy, which allow us to use random binning techniques for distributed compression.

An existence result of a functional integral equation via Darbo type theorem and an iterative algorithm to solve it

In our study, Darbo's fixed point theorem and the coupled fixed point theorem have been extended. The two theorems were generalized using $C-class$ mapping. Using the Darbo type theorem, we gave an existence result for a functional integral equation along with an appropriate illustration. In addition, we explored the numerical solution of a given functional integral problem using modified homotopy perturbation.

Recursive overlap Bernoulli distributions and an entropy concavity conjecture

We introduce a family of recursively generated finite probability distributions obtained from left and right embeddings with overlaps. The construction interpolates between the classical binomial distribution and the non-overlapping Bernoulli product distribution. We derive explicit formulas for the expectation, variance, and the generating function of higher moments, and formulate a conjecture asserting that the Shannon entropy is concave. The conjecture is proved in the two extremal cases and supported by symbolic computations for numerous overlap sequences.

Regularity of Second-Order Elliptic PDEs in Spectral Barron Spaces

We establish a regularity theorem for second-order elliptic PDEs on $\mathbb{R}^{d}$ in spectral Barron spaces. Under mild ellipticity and smallness assumptions, the solution gains two additional orders of Barron regularity. As a corollary, we identify a class of PDEs whose solutions can be approximated by two-layer neural networks with cosine activation functions, where the width of the neural network is independent of the spatial dimension.

Categorical algebra of conditional probability

In the field of categorical probability, one uses concepts and techniques from category theory, such as monads and monoidal categories, to study the structures of probability and statistics. In this paper, we connect some ideas from categorical algebra, namely weakly cartesian functors and natural transformations, to the idea of conditioning in probability theory, using Markov categories and probability monads. First of all, we show that under some conditions, the monad associated to a Markov category with conditionals has a weakly cartesian functor and weakly cartesian multiplication. In particular, we show that this is the case for the Giry monad on standard Borel spaces. We then connect this theory to existing results on statistical experiments. We show that for deterministic statistical experiments, the so-called standard measure construction (which can be seen as a generalization of the ``hypernormalizations'' introduced by Jacobs) satisfies a universal property, allowing an equivalent definition which does not rely on the existence of conditionals.

A categorical formulation of Kraus' paradox

We give a categorical formulation of Kraus' "magic trick" for recovering information from truncated types. Rather than type theory, we work in Van den Berg-Moerdijk path categories with a univalent universe, and rather than propositional truncation we work with arbitrary cofibrations, which includes truncation as a special case. We show, using Kraus' argument that any cofibration with homogeneous domain is a monomorphism. We give some simple concrete examples in groupoids to illustrate the interaction between homogeneous types, cofibrations and univalent fibrations.

Double Toeplitz codes and their average weight enumerators

Recently, double Toeplitz codes have been introduced as a generalization of double circulant codes. In this paper, we study the average weight enumerators of double Toeplitz codes. As an application, we consider the existence of double Toeplitz codes over $\mathbb{F}_q$ with some specified minimum weights for $q \in \{2,3,4\}$. We also give a classification of double Toeplitz codes over $\mathbb{F}_q$ with the largest minimum weights for moderate lengths and $q \in \{2,3,4\}$.

Windowed thinning and query complexity for the bouncy particle and Zigzag samplers

Let $μ(d x)\propto e^{-U(x)} d x$ on $\R^d$, where $U$ is $m$-strongly convex and $L$-smooth, and denote by $κ=L/m$ the condition number. We consider windowed thinning, an exact simulation method for the bouncy particle sampler and the coordinate Zigzag process. The method divides a trajectory into deterministic windows and uses a gradient evaluation at the beginning of each window to construct a tractable local envelope for the event rate. Combining this construction with quantitative mixing estimates and finite-time bounds on the expected numbers of bounces and flips yields query complexity guarantees from a Gaussian cold start. For total-variation error $\varepsilon$, the expected query counts are $O(κ^{1/2}d\,(d\logκ+\log\frac1\varepsilon))$ gradient queries for the bouncy particle sampler and $O(κd^{1/4}(d\logκ+\log\frac1\varepsilon))$ full-gradient equivalents for Zigzag, where $d$ coordinate-partial queries count as one equivalent.

Families of relative periodic orbits in the planar three-body problem via consecutive alignments

Relative periodic orbits (RPOs) are solutions of the three-body problem that are periodic in a uniformly rotating reference frame and, in general, quasi-periodic in inertial coordinates. We present a numerical procedure for computing and continuing one-parameter families of RPOs of the planar Newtonian three-body problem. The method exploits consecutive syzygies, understood here as configurations in which the three bodies are aligned and their velocities satisfy the corresponding symmetry conditions. Matching the positions and momenta at two consecutive alignments reduces the computation of RPOs to a low-dimensional nonlinear problem. Its solutions are then numerically continued, and linear stability is determined from the nontrivial eigenvalues of the rotated monodromy matrix after removing the neutral directions associated with conserved quantities and continuous symmetries. The procedure is applied to several mass distributions and initial configurations, producing families of Poincaré, Hill, and binary-type solutions. These families exhibit transitions from nearly circular to highly eccentric motion, changes of stability near resonances and turning points, and absolute periodic solutions when the rotation angle is a rational multiple of 2π. In the Hill families, the continuation connects satellite configurations with circumstellar motion as the smallest body loses its gravitational binding to the intermediate body. Circumbinary and circumstellar configurations are also obtained in the binary regime. The results illustrate the dynamical diversity of RPOs and provide coherent three-body motions that can be used as prescribed trajectories in restricted four-body models.

New classes of trace-form permutation polynomials and their compositional inverses

We construct permutation polynomials of the form x + γTr^{q^2}_q(h(x)) over the finite field F_{q^2}. More precisely, we present two families ofpermutation polynomials whose coefficients range over all elements of the field rather than being restricted to a proper subfield. We also compute the compositional inverses of both families. Our techniques involve the evaluation of certain Kloosterman sums together with the analysis of some equations over finite fields, and we believe these can be of independent interest.

Column Number of Delta-modular matrices: Refined Analysis via Sauer Matrices

In this paper, we build upon the analysis initiated by Gennadiy Averkov and Matthias Schymura (2022) and establish that the number of distinct columns of a $Δ$-modular matrix $A \in \mathbb{Z}^{m \times n}$ of rank $m$ is $O(m^3 Δ)$. This upper bound was previously known only for odd values of $Δ$. Recall that a matrix is called $Δ$-modular if the maximum of the absolute values of its $m \times m$ minors equals $Δ$.

Optimal control of fractional diffusion with Dirac measures

We study a PDE-constrained optimization problem for an elliptic equation with the spectral fractional Laplacian and a linear combination of Dirac measures as the forcing term; the controls are the amplitudes of these singular sources. We prove existence and uniqueness of an optimal solution and derive first-order optimality conditions. We then propose a discretization based on finite elements. Since the set of admissible controls is finite dimensional, the control variable itself does not require discretization. We conclude by deriving a priori error bounds

The Alexander-Hirschowitz theorem for neurovarieties

We study the dimension and identifiability of neurovarieties associated to polynomial neural networks. We give an independent geometric proof that the linear bounds $d_i\geq 2n_i-1$ on the activation degrees imply non defectiveness for any number of outputs, a dimension statement previously obtained from finite identifiability. The proof is based on a direct analysis of the differential of the parameterization. We also investigate secant and Grassmann-secant obstructions outside this range and prove global identifiability for multi-output architectures under the same degree bounds.

Overcoming the spatial order barrier for nonlinear SPDEs with additive space-time white noise

We introduce a fully discrete numerical scheme for semilinear SPDEs with additive space-time white noise that overcomes the previous order barrier for the spatial convergence rate. The scheme achieves a strong convergence rate of $M^{-1+ε}$ in time and $N^{-3/2+ε}$ in space for any $ε>0$, where $M^{-1}$ and $N^{-1}$ are the temporal, respectively the spatial, meshsizes. This substantially improves the standard spatial error bounds of order $N^{-1/2}$ in the literature.

On cancellative pairs of families of subsets

A pair $(\mathcal{A}, \mathcal{B})$ of families of subsets of $[n]$ is cancellative if whenever $A, A' \in \mathcal{A}, B \in \mathcal{B}$ satisfy $A \cup B=A' \cup B$, then $A=A'$, and whenever $A \in \mathcal{A}, B, B' \in \mathcal{B}$ satisfy $A \cup B=A \cup B'$, then $B=B'$. We show that for every cancellative pair $(\mathcal{A}, \mathcal{B})$, the inequality $|\mathcal{A}||\mathcal{B}| \le 2.25^n$ holds, matching Tolhuizen's $(2.25-o(1))^n$ lower bound construction.

Exact affine conditioning beyond Gaussians: a unique characterization of the ensemble Kalman update

The analysis step of the stochastic ensemble Kalman filter, called the ensemble Kalman update (EnKU), is widely used for approximating posterior distributions in inverse problems and data assimilation. The EnKU approximates the posterior distribution $π_{X\mid Y=y_\star}$ by pushing forward the joint distribution $(X,Y)\simπ$ through an affine map $L^{\mathrm{EnKU}}_{π,y_\star}(x,y)$ that depends only on the covariance structure of $π$ and the observation $y_\star$. While the EnKU yields the exact posterior for Gaussian $π$ in the mean-field, this property alone does not uniquely determine the EnKU. In fact, there are infinitely many affine maps $L_{π, y_\star}$ that achieve such exact conditioning. In this paper, we offer a novel characterization of the EnKU among all such affine maps. We first exhaustively characterize the set ${E}^{\mathrm{EnKU}}$ of joint distributions for which the EnKU yields exact conditioning, showing that it is much larger than the set of Gaussians. Next, we show that except for a small class of highly symmetric distributions within ${E}^{\mathrm{EnKU}}$, the EnKU is the {unique} exact affine conditioning map. Further, we characterize the largest possible set of distributions ${F}$ for which a distribution-dependent, weakly observation-dependent, affine map exists, a class of transports that naturally includes the EnKU. We show that ${F}={E}^{\mathrm{EnKU}}\cup{S}_{\mathrm{nl-dec}}$ with a small symmetry class ${S}_{\mathrm{nl-dec}}$, meaning that for affine conditioning beyond the Gaussian setting, the EnKU has an exact set that is essentially maximally large.

Tight Bounds for Linear and Non-Linear Contraction of Divergences via Duality

We develop a novel framework for bounding the contraction of information divergences, using duality and associated norms in Orlicz spaces. By working in the dual space, we obtain a principled approach to bounding both distribution-dependent strong data-processing inequality (SDPI) constants and \(F_φ\)-curves of divergences. Our bounds are either available in closed form or reducible to one-dimensional convex optimisation problems, in contrast to the infinite-dimensional optimisation problems that characterise SDPIs. These bounds depend on the densities of the reverse kernels with respect to a reference measure. To the best of our knowledge, they are the first universal closed-form bounds on distribution-dependent SDPI constants. We establish tightness for the \(χ^2\)-divergence on several important channel classes, including full-rank binary kernels. We apply our results to several settings. In particular, we derive bounds on the mixing times of Markov chains, including chains with heavy-tailed stationary distributions; obtain improved bounds on burn-in periods for Markov chain Monte Carlo; and strengthen concentration-of-measure bounds for dependent random variables.
