The total energy-momentum of the universe in teleparallel gravity

We investigate the conservation law of energy-momentum in teleparallel gravity by using general Noether theorem. The energy-momentum current has also superpotential and is therefore identically conserved. The total energy-momentum, which includes the contributions of both matter and gravitational fields, is given by the integral of scalar densities over a three-dimensional spacelike hypersurface. As an example, the universe in teleparallel gravity is investigated. It is shown that the total energy-momentum vanishes independently of both the curvature parameter and the three dimensionless coupling constants of teleparallel gravity.

Self-Replicating Space-Cells and the Cosmological Constant

We consider what the implications would be if there were a discrete fundamental model of physics based on locally-finite self-interacting information, in which there is no presumption of the familiar space and laws of physics, but from which such space and laws can nevertheless be shown to be able to emerge stably from such a fundamental model. We argue that if there is such a model, then the familiar laws of physics, including Standard Model constants, etc., must be encodable by a finite quantity C, called the complexity, of self-interacting information I, called a Space-Cell. Copies of Space-Cell I must be distributed throughout space, at a roughly constant and near-Planck density, and copies must be created or destroyed as space expands or contracts. We then argue that each Space-Cell is a self-replicator that can duplicate in times ranging from as fast as near-Planck-times to as slow as Cosmological-Constant-time which is 10^{61} Planck-times. From standard considerations of computation, we argue this slowest duplication rate just requires that 10^{61} is less than about 2^C, the number of length-C binary strings, hence requiring only the modest complexity C at least 203, and at most a few thousand. We claim this provides a reasonable explanation for a dimensionless constant being as large as 10^{61}, and hence for the Cosmological Constant being a tiny positive 10^{-122}. We also discuss a separate conjecture on entropy flow in Hole-Bang Transitions. We then present Cosmological Natural Selection II.

Coupled phantom field in loop quantum cosmology

A model of phantom scalar field dark energy under exponential potential coupling to barotropic dark matter fluid in loop quantum cosmology is addressed here. We derive a closed-autonomous system for cosmological dynamics in this scenario. The expansion in loop quantum universe has a bounce even in presence of the phantom field. The greater decaying from dark matter to dark phantom energy results in greater energy storing in the phantom field. This results in further turning point of the field. Greater coupling also delays bouncing time. In the case of phantom decaying, oscillation in phantom density makes small oscillation in the increasing matter density.

Some solutions with torsion in Chern-Simons gravity and observable effects

It is shown that in all odd dimensional Chern-Simons theories states in which the torsion is non zero (but it can approach smoothly to zero outside suitable regions) do exist. Some possible observational effects related to neutrino oscillations are pointed out. In the theory of continuum media (in which suitable defects can be described by localized non vanishing torsion) "the gravitational intuition" is a rather useful tool to describe the physical effects of such defects. A possible astrophysical application is shortly described.

Hans-Juergen Treder and the discovery of confinement in Einstein's unified field theory

In the year 1957, when interest in Einstein's unified field theory was fading away for lack of understanding of its physical content, Treder performed a momentous critical analysis of the possible definitions of the electric four-current in the theory. As an outcome of this scrutiny he was able to prove by the E.I.H. method that properly defined point charges, appended at the right-hand side of the field equation $R_{[[μν],λ]}=0$, interact mutually with Coulomb-like forces, provided that a mutual force independent of distance is present too. This unwanted, but unavoidable addition, could not but lay further disbelief on the efforts initiated by Einstein and Schroedinger one decade earlier. However in 1980 Treder himself recalled that the potential $ϕ=a/r+cr$, found by him in 1957, was the one used by particle physicists to account phenomenologically for the spectrum of bound quark systems like mesons. Exact solutions have later confirmed beyond any doubt that Einstein's unified field theory does account in a simple way, already in classical form, for the confinement of pole charges defined by the four-current first availed of by Treder. In the present paper it is proposed, ad memoriam, a thorough recollection of the article published by Treder in 1957, showing the way kept by him to find what would have been later recognized as confinement in Einstein's unified field theory.

An angular momentum bound at null infinity

We prove an inequality relating the trace of the extrinsic curvature, the total angular momentum, the centre of mass, and the Trautman-Bondi mass for a class of gravitational initial data sets with constant mean curvature extending to null infinity. As an application we obtain non-existence results for the asymptotic Dirichlet problem for CMC hypersurfaces in stationary space-times.

Instanton representation of Plebanski gravity: IX. Hamiltonian minisuperspace dynamics in undensitized momentum space variables

In this paper we illustrate the dynamics of the instanton representation in the description of vacuum GR in minisuperspace for undensitized variables. We uncover a new class of general solutions in both the degenerate and the nondegenerate sectors of the theory. Additionally, the individual sectors are preserved under Hamiltonian evolution. Finally, we present an algorithm for constructing general solutions by expansion about the isotropic sector.

Self-gravitating radiation in AdS(d)

We study spherically symmetric equilibrium configurations of self-gravitating massless thermal radiation in asymptotically anti-de Sitter space. In d=4, it was shown by Page and Phillips that there is a maximum red-shifted temperature, maximum mass and maximum entropy. For higher central densities, the temperature, mass and entropy undergo an infinite series of damped oscillations, corresponding to unstable configurations. We extend this work to all dimensions $d\geq 3$. We find that in $4\leq d\leq 10$, the behaviour is similar to the d=4 case. In $d\geq 11$, the temperature, mass and entropy are monotonic functions of the central density, asymptoting to their maxima as the central density goes to infinity. In d=3, an exact solution is given by a slice of the AdS C-metric.

Cosmic String Loops and Gravitational Radiation

Understanding of the signatures of cosmic string networks is limited by a large uncertainty in the sizes at which cosmic string loops form. We review cosmic string network evolution, and the gravitational signatures, with emphasis on this uncertainty. We then review a recent analytic model of cosmic string networks. In combination with recent simulations, this suggests that 90% of the string goes into very small loops, at the gravitational radiation scale, and 10% into loops near the Hubble scale. We discuss cosmic string signatures in such a scenario, and the `inverse problem' of determining the microscopic cosmic string properties from observations.

Traversable Wormholes Construction in (2+1) Gravity

Wormholes have been always an interesting object in gravity theories. In this paper we make a little review of the principal properties of these objects and the exotic matter they need to exist. Then, we obtain two specific solutions in the formalism of (2+1)-dimensional gravity with negative cosmological constant. The obtained geometries correspond to traversable wormholes with an exterior geometry correspondient to the well known BTZ black hole solution. We also discuss the distribution of exotic matter that these wormholes need.

Supergravity solutions with constant scalar invariants

We study a class of constant scalar invariant (CSI) spacetimes, which belong to the higher-dimensional Kundt class, that are solutions of supergravity. We review the known CSI supergravity solutions in this class and we explicitly present a number of new exact CSI supergravity solutions, some of which are Einstein.

Rhodium Mossbauer Superradiance of Observable Gravitational Effect

We summarize the experimental observations of three case studies on the long-lived rhodium Mossbauer Effect. Extraordinary observations reported in this work manifest the open-up of photonic band gap in analogy to the superconducting gap. Observable gravitational effect is manifested by the superradiance of different sample orientations corresponding to the earth gravity. These observations are of potential importance for detecting gravitational waves and development of the two-photon gamma laser.

Disproof of Bell's Theorem: Further Consolidations

The failure of Bell's theorem for Clifford algebra valued local variables is further consolidated by proving that the conditions of remote parameter independence and remote outcome independence are duly respected within the recently constructed exact, local realistic model for the EPR-Bohm correlations. Since the conjunction of these two conditions is equivalent to the locality condition of Bell, this provides an independent geometric proof of the local causality of the model, at the level of microstates. In addition to local causality, the model respects at least seven other conceptual and operational requirements, arising either from the predictions of quantum mechanics or the premises of Bell's theorem, including the Malus's law for sequential spin measurements. Since the agreement between the predictions of the model and those of quantum mechanics is quantitatively precise in all respects, the ensemble interpretation of the entangled singlet state becomes amenable.

Can Phantom-Dominated Universe Decelerate Also in Future ?

Here Randall-Sundrum brane-gravity models of the homogeneous and flat universe, dominated by phantom fluid, is considered. It is noted that brane-gravity corrections effect the behaviour of phantom fluid in RS-II model (where brane-tension $λ$ is negative) drastically. It is interesting to see that, phantom fluid violates the weak energy condition (WEC) till energy density $ρ< λ$, but when phantom energy density $ρ$ grows more, the effective equation of state does not violate WEC. Moreover, with increasing phantom energy density, a stage comes when even strong energy condition is not violated due to effect of these corrections. Also expansion stops, when $ρ= 2 λ$. As a consequence, RS-II phantom universe accelerates upto a finite time explaining the present cosmic acceleration, but it decelerates later. Thus, RS-II phantom universe is singularity-free. In the case of RS-I model, where $λ$ is positive, characteristics of phantom fluid is not suppressed by brane-corrections and phantom universe accelerates ending up in big-rip singularity in finite future time.

Generalized Lagrange Transforms: Finsler Geometry Methods and Deformation Quantization of Gravity

We propose a natural Fedosov type quantization of generalized Lagrange models and gravity theories with metrics lifted on tangent bundle, or extended to higher dimension, following some stated geometric/ physical conditions (for instance, nonholonomic and/or conformal transforms to some physically important metrics or mapping into a gauge model). Such generalized Lagrange transforms define canonical nonlinear connection, metric and linear connection structures and model almost Kahler geometries with induced canonical symplectic structure and compatible affine connection. The constructions are possible due to a synthesis of the nonlinear connection formalism developed in Finsler and Lagrange geometries and deformation quantization methods.

Gravitational Collapse to Toroidal and Higher Genus asymptotically AdS Black Holes

We match collapsing inhomogeneous as well as spatially homogeneous but anisotropic spacetimes to vacuum static exteriors with a negative cosmological constant and planar or hyperbolic symmetry. The collapsing interiors include the inhomogeneous solutions of Szekeres and of Barnes, which in turn include the Lemaitre-Tolman and the McVittie solutions. The collapse can result in toroidal or higher genus asymptotically AdS black holes.
