The Noncommutative Standard Model at the ILC

We study phenomenological consequences of a noncommutative extension of the standard model in the theta-expanded approach at the ILC. We estimate the sensitivity of the ILC for the noncommutative scale Lambda_NC. Comparing with earlier estimates for the LHC, we demonstrate the complementarity of the experiments at the two colliders.

The ILC Energy Requirements from the Constraints on New Boson Production at the Tevatron

Direct constraints on the masses of new heavy bosons by the Tevatron data are discussed. Some excesses in the experimental data are interpreted as a resonance production of new charged and `leptophobic' neutral chiral bosons with masses around 500 GeV and 700 GeV, respectively. The interpretation was provided on the basis of the theoretical model, proposed by the author about 15 years ago. New Tevatron data and the LHC results will definitely confirm or reject this interpretation. The ILC with an energy above 1 TeV would be an ideal place to produce and to study the properties of these particles.

Rapidity Variation of Thermal Parameters at SPS and RHIC

The rapidity dependence of the chemical freeze-out thermal parameters $T$ and $μ_B$ are determined at the highest RHIC and SPS energies. These show a systematic behavior towards an increase in $μ_B$ away from mid-rapidity and a corresponding decrease in the temperature $T$.

Higgs Production by Gluon initiated Weak Boson Fusion

The gluon-gluon induced terms for Higgs production through weak-boson fusion are calculated. They form a finite and gauge-invariant subset of the NNLO corrections in the strong coupling constant. This is also the lowest order with sizeable t-channel colour exchange contributions, leading to additional hadronic activity between the outgoing jets.

CP Violation in SUSY Particle Production and Decay

Recent studies about CP violation in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with complex parameters are reviewed. In order to unambiguously identify the CP-violating phenomena it is necessary to study CP-odd or T-odd observables. In chargino and neutralino production and decay at the International Linear Collider (ILC) triple product asymmetries and asymmetries defined via transverse beam polarization have been analyzed. It has been found that these asymmetries can be measured at the ILC in a large region of the MSSM parameter space and are thus an important tool to establish CP violation in supersymmetry.

Problems of the Sensitivity Parameter and Its Relation to the Time-varying Fundamental Couplings Problems

The sensitivity parameter is widely used for quantifying fine tuning. However, examples show it fails to give correct results under certain circumstances. We argue that these problems only occur when calculating the sensitivity of a dimensionful mass parameter at one energy scale to the variation of a dimensionless coupling constant at another energy scale. Thus, by mechanisms such as dynamical symmetry breaking etc, the high sensitivity of the energy scale parameter (Λ) to the dimensionless coupling constant can affect the reliability of the sensitivity parameter through the renormalization invariant factor of the dimensionful parameter. Theoretically, These phenomena are similar to the problems associated with the time-varying coupling constant discovered recently. We argue that, the reliability of the sensitivity parameter can be improved if it is used properly.

BFKL resummation effects in exclusive production of rho meson pairs at the ILC

We calculate the Born order cross-section for the exclusive production of rho meson pairs in e+e- scattering in the Regge limit of QCD and we show the feasibility of the measurement of this process at the ILC. We also investigate the leading and next-to-leading order BFKL evolution, making this process a very clean test of the BFKL resummation effects.

Single Production of Heavy Charged Leptons at the ILC

This paper has been withdrawn by the authors due to a coding error and a missed diagram. The calculation has been completely redone, with very different results, and with an additional author, and will be submitted to the arxiv shortly.

Polarization-independent CP-odd Observable in e^+e^- Chargino Production at One Loop

We discuss CP violation in the process e^+e^- \to \tildeχ^+_i\tildeχ^-_j with unpolarized beams. When the scalars are heavy, the box-diagram results constitute a major part of the full result. However, there are situations when the vertex and self-energy corrections dominate over the box diagrams. We also comment on CP violation in the final chargino decay.

Exploring the transition into the Chiral Regime of QCD using the Interacting Instanton Liquid Model

The non-perturbative quark-gluon interaction depends significantly on the value of the quark mass. In particular, in the light quark mass regime, correlations are strongly influenced by dynamics associated to chiral symmetry breaking. We use the Interacting Instanton Liquid Model (IILM) as a tool to investigate the microscopic dynamical mechanisms which underly the dependence on the quark mass and drive the transition into the chiral regime of QCD. To ensure the validity of the model, we first verify that the dependence on the quark mass for several observables calculated in the IILM agrees well with the predictions of chiral perturbation theory and with lattice simulations. We then show that a quark mass m*~80 MeV emerging naturally from the model specifies the mass scale above which the dynamics associated with low-lying eigenmodes of the Direac operator becomes sub-leading and the contribution of the fermion determinant is suppressed.

Spatial image of reaction area from scattering.II: On connection between the differential cross-sections in transverse momentum and in nearest approach parameter

We develop general formalism of how to relate cross-section for exclusive processes to spatial image of reaction area. More precisely we show how to determine the spatial distribution of outgoing particles in the space of so-called nearest approach parameter. This parameter characterizes the position in the coordinate space the place where the final particle is produced.

Did one observe couplings of right-handed quarks to W ?

I consider non standard EW couplings of light right-handed quarks to W and Z suggested in a systematic non decoupling bottom-up low-energy effective theory approach to possible extensions of the Standard Model. New experimental tests in K^L_{mu3} decays based on recent measurements and scalar form factor analysis are discussed. A successful NLO fit to the standard set of Z-pole and other NC data is presented as well.

A pedagogical explanation for the non-renormalizability of gravity

We present a short and intuitive argument explaining why gravity is non-renormalizable. The argument is based on black-hole domination of the high energy spectrum of gravity and not on the standard perturbative irrelevance of the gravitational coupling. This is a pedagogical note, containing textbook material that is widely appreciated by experts and is by no means original.

Higgs-Boson Mass Limit within the Randall-Sundrum Model

Perturbative unitarity for $\wlwl$ scattering is discussed within the Randall-Sundrum model. It is shown that the exchange of massive 4D Kaluza-Klein gravitons leads to amplitudes growing linearly with the CM energy squared. Summing over KK gravitons up to a scale $\lbar$ and testing unitarity at $\rts=\lbar$, one finds that unitarity is violated for $\lbar$ below the 'naive dimensional analysis' scale, $\lnda$. It is also shown that the exchange of gravitons can substantially relax the upper limit from unitarity on the mass of the Standard Model Higgs boson - consistency with unitarity for all $\rts$ below $\lbar$ is possible for $\mh$ as large as $ 1.4\tev$, depending on the curvature of the background metric. Observation of the mass and width (or cross section) of one or more KK gravitons at the LHC will directly determine the curvature and the scale $\lw$ specifying the couplings of matter to the KK gravitons. With this information and a measurement of the Higgs boson mass it will be possible to determine the precise $\rts$ value below which unitarity will remain valid.

Infrared Divergences from Soft and Collinear Gauge Bosons

I review the Lee-Nauenberg thereom and discuss its inclusion of photons which are disconnected at the level of the S-matrix but connected at the level of the cross-section when there are initial and final state charged particles. I then expose a new set of soft collinear divergences in massless gauge theories which are omitted in the standard Lee-Nauenberg approach. It seems that highly questionable assumptions are needed to obtain finite cross-sections.
