Detection of long-lived staus and gravitinos at the ILC

A study is presented illustrating the excellent potential of future International Linear Collider (ILC) experiments to detect metastable staus $\stau$, measure precisely their mass and lifetime, and to determine the mass of the gravitino $\sG$ from the decay $\stau\toτ\sG$, thus providing direct access to the gravitational coupling, respectively Planck scale.

Possibility of a modification of life time of radioactive elements by magnetic monopoles

A simple explanation of the fact that light magnetic monopoles have not been observed at accelerator experiments is given. It is based on a possibility of violation of C invariance in the electromagnetic interactions. Because of the difficulty of monopole registration, two interconnected problems arise: to formulate a theory describing monopole production (it should include a new force beyond the Standard Model of electroweak interaction), and to point the way to monopole observation. We consider a possibility, closely related to some experiments, of a modification of life time of radioactive elements by magnetic monopoles. The first part of the article is devoted to purely electromagnetic impact of monopoles, caused by the vertex M --> M + gamma. The second part, more speculative one, is based on experimental evidences in favour of the existence of some axial vector currents, responsible for a new force, which can stimulate, or suppress, decays of radioactive elements.

Techniques for the calculation of electroweak radiative corrections at the one-loop level and results for W-physics at LEP200

We review the techniques necessary for the calculation of virtual electroweak and soft photonic corrections at the one-loop level. In particular we describe renormalization, calculation of one-loop integrals and evaluation of one-loop Feynman amplitudes. We summarize many explicit results of general relevance. We give the Feynman rules and the explicit form of the counter terms of the electroweak standard model, we list analytical expressions for scalar one-loop integrals and reduction of tensor integrals, we present the decomposition of the invariant matrix element for processes with two external fermions and we give the analytic form of soft photonic corrections. These techniques are applied to physical processes with external W-bosons. We present the full set of analytical formulae and the corresponding numerical results for the decay width of the W-boson and the top quark. We discuss the cross section for the production of W-bosons in e^{+}e^{-}-annihilaton including all O(alpha) radiative corrections and finite width effects. Improved Born approximations for these processes are given.

Fermi-point scenario for emergent gravity

Let us assume that gravity is an emergent low-energy phenomenon arising from a topologically stable defect in momentum space -- the Fermi point. What are the consequences? We discuss the natural values of fermion masses and cosmological constant; flatness of the Universe; bounds on Lorentz violation; etc.

Recent progress in B physics

We firstly address the recent efforts on calculations of the next-to-leading order corrections to the color-suppressed tree amplitude in QCD factorization method which may be essential to solve the puzzles in $B\to ππ$ and $πK$ decays. Then we discuss the polarization puzzles in $B\to ϕK^*$ and $ρK^*$. The impacts of the newly measured $B_s-\bar B_s$ mixing and $B^+\to τ^+ν$ on the CKM unitarity triangle global fitting are mentioned. We also briefly review the recent measurements of the new resonances at BaBar and Belle. Finally, some new results from hadron colliders, especially the $b$-flavored hadron spectra, are discussed.

Energy dependence of nuclear effects in hadron-nucleus collisions

The energy dependence of light and heavy particle production in hadron-nucleus collisions is discussed. Whereas the production mechanism at lower energies can be understood in the Glauber rescattering picture, experimental data at RHIC indicate that particles are mostly produced in coherent processes. The importance of energy-momentum conservation is shown to be crucial at forward rapidities for the whole energy range. We also discuss the behaviour of $α(x_F)$ with energy for light particles and $J/ψ$. Finally, we make predictions for the future LHC experiment.

First results on e^+e^- -> 3 jets at NNLO

Precision studies of QCD at $e^+e^-$ colliders are based on measurements of event shapes and jet rates. To match the high experimental accuracy, theoretical predictions to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD are needed for a reliable interpretation of the data. We report the first calculation of NNLO corrections (${\cal O}(α_s^3)$) to three-jet production and related event shapes, and discuss their phenomenological impact.

Isospin Matter in AdS/QCD

We study strange and isospin asymmetric matter in a bottom-up AdS/QCD model. We first consider isospin matter, which has served as a good testing ground for nonperturbative QCD. We calculate the isospin chemical potential dependence of hadronic observables such as the masses and the decay constants of the pseudo-scalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons. We discuss a possibility of the charged pion condensation in the matter within the bottom-up AdS/QCD model. Then, we study the properties of the hadronic observables in strange matter. We calculate the deconfinement temperature in strange and isospin asymmetric matter. One of the interesting results of our study is that the critical temperature at a fixed baryon number density increases when the strangeness chemical potential is introduced. This suggests that if matter undergoes a first-order transition to strange matter, the critical temperature shows a sudden jump at the transition point.

Monte Carlo Simulations for NLO Chargino Production at the ILC

We present an extension of the Monte Carlo Event Generator Whizard which includes chargino production at the ILC at NLO. We include photons using both a fixed order and a resummation approach. In the latter, leading higher order corrections are automatically included. We present results for cross sections and event generation for both methods.

Interplay of Electroweak Precision Observables and B Physics Observables

Indirect information about the possible scale of supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking is provided by B physics observables (BPO) as well as electroweak precision observables (EWPO). We review the combination of the constraints imposed by recent measurements of the BPO BR(b -> s gamma), BR(B_s -> mu+ mu-), BR(B_u -> tau nu_tau) and Delta M_{B_s} with those obtained from the experimental measurements of the EWPO M_W, sin^2 theta_eff, Gamma_Z, (g-2)_mu and M_h. We perform a chi^2 fit to the parameters of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which the SUSY-breaking parameters are universal at the GUT scale. Assuming that the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) provides the cold dark matter density preferred by WMAP and other cosmological data, we confirm the preference found previously for a relatively low SUSY-breaking scale, though there is some slight tension between the EWPO and the BPO.

Precise quark masses from sum rules

In this contribution an improved analysis is described to extract precise charm and bottom quark masses from experimental and theoretical moments of the photon polarization function. The obtained $\bar{\rm MS}$ mass values read $m_c(3 {GeV})=0.986(13)$ GeV and $m_b(10 {GeV})=3.609(25)$ GeV.

Electric-Magnetic Struggle in QGP, Deconfinement and Baryons

We argue that quite unusual properties of Quark-Gluon Plasma in the RHIC temperature domain $T=(1-2)T_c$ are consequences of the approximate equilibrium between electric and magnetic sectors reached above the deconfinement temperature. Already classical study of few body motion in a electric-magnetic plasma shows abnormally large scattering rate due to the so called ``magnetic bottle'' effect. Molecular dynamics simulation have found that equal mixture of electric and magnetic quasiparticles do produce plasmas of small viscosity and even smaller diffusion rate, comparable to what is needed to explain RHIC data and also to what follows from AdS/CFT. As a separate issue, we point out that right above $T_c$ there should be surviving s-wave baryons made of quarks ($N,Δ$), as well as adjoint objects, 3-gluon and 3-monopole chains (the latter being nothing else but ``calorons'' or finite-T instantons).

Charmed signatures for phase transitions in heavy-ion collisions

The interplay of charmonium production and suppression in In+In and Pb+Pb reactions at 158 AGeV and in Au+Au reactions at sqrt(s)=200 GeV is investigated with the HSD transport approach within the `hadronic comover model' and the `QGP melting scenario'. The results for the J/Psi suppression and the Psi' to J/Psi ratio are compared to the recent data of the NA50, NA60, and PHENIX Collaborations. We find that, at 158 AGeV, the comover absorption model performs better than the scenario of abrupt threshold melting. However, neither interaction with hadrons alone nor simple color screening satisfactory describes the data at sqrt(s)=200 GeV. A deconfined phase is clearly reached at RHIC, but a theory having the relevant degrees of freedom in this regime (strongly interacting quarks/gluons) is needed to study its transport properties.

Two-Loop Electroweak NLL Corrections: from Massless to Massive Fermions

Recently the two-loop next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) virtual corrections to arbitrary processes with massless external fermions have been calculated. Within the spontaneously broken electroweak theory the one- and two-loop mass singularities have been derived to NLL accuracy and expressed as universal correction factors depending only on the quantum numbers of the external particles. This talk summarizes the results for massless fermionic processes and presents new aspects arising in the extension of the corresponding loop calculations to massive external fermions. As a preliminary result, the Abelian form factor for massive fermions is given.
