GGUF-Metadata Prediction of Single-Sequence llama.cpp Throughput Across Three Systems

We predict single-sequence model throughput from GGUF metadata using roofline-shaped predictors with quantization-specific scale factors fitted on reference models. The scored cohort comprises 318 phase-depth measurements from 53 host-file configurations on two Apple M4 Max systems and an NVIDIA RTX 5080. On host-specific held-out sets of four, five, and two configurations, an active-parameter decode model obtains 13.1%, 14.4%, and 36.1% mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), versus 49.4%, 55.3%, and 51.9% when charging total parameters. Leave-one-host-out coefficients fitted on the other two systems yield 11.6%, 16.8%, and 36.0% test MAPE. A low-bit model ladder changes ordering across runtime stacks. The P2 prefill baseline gives 18.7%, 22.2%, and 108.2% test MAPE. GGUF structure helps on all three systems, but fitted efficiencies are not universal.

Implicit Location-Caption Alignment via Complementary Masking for Weakly-Supervised Dense Video Captioning

Weakly-Supervised Dense Video Captioning (WSDVC) aims to localize and describe all events of interest in a video without requiring annotations of event boundaries. This setting poses a great challenge in accurately locating the temporal location of event, as the relevant supervision is unavailable. Existing methods rely on explicit alignment constraints between event locations and captions, which involve complex event proposal procedures during both training and inference. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel implicit location-caption alignment paradigm by complementary masking, which simplifies the complex event proposal and localization process while maintaining effectiveness. Specifically, our model comprises two components: a dual-mode video captioning module and a mask generation module. The dual-mode video captioning module captures global event information and generates descriptive captions, while the mask generation module generates differentiable positive and negative masks for localizing the events. These masks enable the implicit alignment of event locations and captions by ensuring that captions generated from positively and negatively masked videos are complementary, thereby forming a complete video description. In this way, even under weak supervision, the event location and event caption can be aligned implicitly. Extensive experiments on the public datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms existing weakly-supervised methods and achieves competitive results compared to fully-supervised methods.

A Template-guided Hybrid Pointer Network for Knowledge-basedTask-oriented Dialogue Systems

Most existing neural network based task-oriented dialogue systems follow encoder-decoder paradigm, where the decoder purely depends on the source texts to generate a sequence of words, usually suffering from instability and poor readability. Inspired by the traditional template-based generation approaches, we propose a template-guided hybrid pointer network for the knowledge-based task-oriented dialogue system, which retrieves several potentially relevant answers from a pre-constructed domain-specific conversational repository as guidance answers, and incorporates the guidance answers into both the encoding and decoding processes. Specifically, we design a memory pointer network model with a gating mechanism to fully exploit the semantic correlation between the retrieved answers and the ground-truth response. We evaluate our model on four widely used task-oriented datasets, including one simulated and three manually created datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves significantly better performance than the state-of-the-art methods over different automatic evaluation metrics.
