StageWell: A Process-Aligned Chinese Corpus for Positive-Psychology Support Dialogue

Positive psychology dialogue aims to support emotional distress and positive resource building, requiring models to produce not only empathetic replies but also coherent progression through a multi-turn support process. Existing resources often reduce supervision to turn-level strategies or holistic preference labels, leaving process position, support function, and local repair targets implicit. We introduce StageWell, a process-aligned Chinese corpus for positive psychology dialogue, together with HQS, a structured protocol for data construction and evaluation. StageWell organizes support into a six-stage support process and uses a multi-agent whole-dialogue rewriting workflow to construct 12,445 SFT instances, 1,849 DPO preference pairs, and a GroundTruth subset of 120 expert-revised dialogues and 977 QA pairs. Guided by HQS, DPO pairs are built as process-localized repairs: flawed model outputs are used as rejected responses, and targeted rewrites under the same context and stage constraint are used as chosen responses. Across four 9B-14B open-source LLMs, this supervision yields robust gains in process control, response quality, and safety. Averaged across models, BERTScore improves by 0.037, Q-Overall increases by 1.32 points, S-exact increases by 0.236, and the H-critical rate decreases by 0.167. These results highlight the value of modeling supportive dialogue as a structured multi-turn support process rather than as single-turn response generation.

Two-particle angular correlations in pp and p-Pb collisions at LHC energies from a multi-phase transport model

We apply a multi-phase transport (AMPT) model to study two-particle angular correlations in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 7$ TeV. Besides being able to describe the angular correlation functions of meson-meson pairs, a large improvement for the angular correlations of baryon-baryon and antibaryon-antibaryon is achieved. We further find that the AMPT model with new quark coalescence provides an even better description on the anti-correlation feature of baryon-baryon correlations observed in the experiments. We also extend the study to p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 5.02$ TeV and obtained similar results. These results help us better understand the particle production mechanism in $pp$ and p-Pb collisions at LHC energies.

Charm meson scattering cross sections by pion and rho meson

Using the local flavor SU(4) gauge invariance in the limit of vanishing vector meson masses, we extend our previous study of charm meson scattering cross sections by pion and rho meson, which is based only on the pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar-vector meson couplings, to include also contributions from the couplings among three vector mesons and among four particles. We find that diagrams with light meson exchanges usually dominate the cross sections. For the processes considered previously, the additional interactions lead only to diagrams involving charm meson exchanges and contact interactions, and the cross sections for these processes are thus not much affected. Nevertheless, these additional interactions introduce new processes with light meson exchanges and increase significantly the total scattering cross sections of charm mesons by pion and rho meson.

The Role of Gluons in Dilepton Production from the Quark-Gluon Plasma

We study high mass dilepton production from gluon-induced processes, $g q \to q γ^*$, $g \bar q \to \bar q γ^*$, and $g g \to q \bar q γ^*$, in a thermally equilibrated but chemically under-saturated partonic matter that is expected to be created in the initial stage of ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. Regulating the divergence in these processes by the thermal quark mass, we find that gluon-induced processes are more important than the leading-order $q\bar q$ annihilation process as a result of the larger number of gluons than quarks in the partonic matter. The dependence of the thermal dilepton yield from the partonic stage of heavy ion collisions on the initial conditions for the partonic matter is also studied. We further discuss the feasibility of observing thermal dileptons from the quark-gluon plasma in heavy ion experiments.

Antiflow of kaons in relativistic heavy ion collisions

We compare relativistic transport model calculations to recent data on the sideward flow of neutral strange K^0_s mesons for Au+Au collisions at 6 AGeV. A soft nuclear equation of state is found to describe very well the positive proton flow data measured in the same experiment. In the absence of kaon potential, the K^0 flow pattern is similar to that of protons. The kaon flow becomes negative if a repulsive kaon potential determined from the impulse approximation is introduced. However, this potential underestimates the data which exhibits larger antiflow. An excellent agreement with the data is obtained when a relativistic scalar-vector kaon potential, that has stronger density dependence, is used. We further find that the transverse momentum dependence of directed and elliptic flow is quite sensitive to the kaon potential in dense matter.

Effective hadronic Lagrangian for charm mesons

An effective hadronic Lagrangian including the charm mesons is introduced to study their interactions in hadronic matter. Using coupling constants that are determined either empirically or by the SU(4) symmetry, we have evaluated the absorption cross sections of $J/ψ$ and the scattering cross sections of $D$ and $D^*$ by $π$ and $ρ$ mesons.

Model for $J/ψ$ absorption in hadronic matter

The cross sections for $J/ψ$ absorption by $π$ and $ρ$ mesons are studied in a meson-exchange model that includes not only pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar-vector-meson couplings but also three-vector-meson and four-point couplings. We find that they are much larger than in a previous study where only pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar-vector-meson couplings were considered. Including form factors at interaction vertices, the $J/ψ$ absorption cross sections $σ_{πψ}$ and $σ_{ρψ}$ are found to have values on the order of 7 mb and 3 mb, respectively. Their thermal averages in hadronic matter at temperature T=150 MeV are, respectively, about 1 mb and 2 mb.

$\Upsilon$ absorption in hadronic matter

The cross sections of $\Upsilon$ absorption by $\pi$ and $\rho$ mesons are evaluated in a meson-exchange model. Including form factors with a cutoff parameter of 1 or 2 GeV, we find that due to the large threshold of these reactions the thermal average of their cross sections is only about 0.2 mb at a temperature of 150 MeV. Our results thus suggest that the absorption of directly produced $\Upsilon$ by hadronic comovers in high energy heavy ion collisions is unimportant.

J/psi suppression in ultrarelativistic nuclear collisions

Using a multiphase transport model, we study the relative importance of J/psi suppression mechanisms due to plasma screening, gluon scattering, and hadron absorption in heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. We find that for collisions between heavy nuclei such as Au+Au, both plasma screening and gluon scattering are important. As a result, the effect due to absorption by hadrons becomes relatively minor. The final J/psi survival probability in these collisions is only a few percent. In the case of collisions between light nuclei such as S+S, the effect of plasma screening is, however, negligible in spite of the initial high parton density. The final J/psi survival probability thus remains appreciable after comparable absorption effects due to gluons and hadrons.

Hadronic scattering of charmed mesons

The scattering cross sections of charm mesons with hadrons such as the pion, rho meson, and nucleon are studied in an effective Lagrangian. In heavy ion collisions, rescattering of produced charm mesons by hadrons affects the invariant mass spectra of both charm meson pairs and dileptons resulting from their decays. These effects are estimated for heavy ion collisions at SPS energies and are found to be significant.

A Multi-Phase Transport model for nuclear collisions at RHIC

To study heavy ion collisions at energies available from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, we have developed a multi-phase transport model that includes both initial partonic and final hadronic interactions. Specifically, the parton cascade model ZPC, which uses as input the parton distribution from the HIJING model, is extended to include the quark-gluon to hadronic matter transition and also final-state hadronic interactions based on the ART model. Predictions of the model for central Au on Au collisions at RHIC are reported.

Hadronic Scatterings of Charm Mesons and Enhancement of Intermediate Mass Dileptons

The scattering effects of charm mesons by hadrons such as the pion, rho meson and nucleon are studied in an effective Lagrangian, and are found to be important in heavy ion collisions. At the CERN-SPS energies, hadronic rescatterings are shown to harden the charm meson $m_T$ spectra, leading to a significant enhancement of the yield of intermediate-mass dimuons from charm meson decays.

Enhancement of Intermediate Mass Dileptons From Charm Decays At SPS Energies

We study the dimuon yield from open charm decays in the intermediate mass region(IMR) in heavy-ion collisions at the CERN-SPS energy. We find that final state rescatterings which broaden the $m_T$ spectrum of charmed mesons can enrich the part of the phase space covered by the NA50 experiment, thus leading to an apparent enhancement of IMR dileptons within the acceptance of the experiment. Such an enhancement increases with the dimuon invariant mass and the single muon energy cut-off.

Energy loss effects on charm and bottom production in high-energy heavy-ion collisions

We study the effect of energy loss on charm and bottom quarks in high-energy heavy-ion collisions including longitudinal expansion and partial thermalization. We find that high $p_\perp$ heavy quarks are greatly suppressed, and consequently, high-mass dileptons from heavy quark decays are also suppressed. We consider in detail the detector geometry and single lepton energy cuts of the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). Because of the longitudinal expansion, the suppressions of $ee, eμ$ and $μμ$ pairs resulting from the heavy quark energy loss are very different due to the different rapidity coverages and energy cuts. The assumed energy loss rate, on the order of 1 GeV/fm, results in a large suppression on dielectrons, and dielectrons from heavy quark decays become comparable or even lower than the Drell-Yan yield. It is thus possible to probe the energy loss rate of the medium using dileptons from heavy quark decays.

Open Charm Production and its Lepton Pair Signal in High Energy Nuclear Collisions

Open charm production at the initial and the pre-equilibrium stages in nuclear collisions is studied. The pre-equilibrium contribution to open charm production in $A+A$ collisions at $\sqrt s=200 AGeV$ is shown to be very sensitive to correlations between momenta and space-time coordinates of the minijets produced after the initial collision. A minimal correlation model based on the uncertainty principle is introduced, and leads only to a small pre-equilibrium charm yield as compared with initial yields. Opposite-sign lepton pairs $ee, eμ$ and $μμ$ from open charm decay in $p+A$ reactions at $\sqrt s=200$ AGeV are proposed as a measure of nuclear shadowing effects. Via an approximate scaling, the ratio of the spectra from $p+A$ collisions to those from $pp$ collisions is shown to reflect the shadowing function well. Finally it is shown that the required measurements are feasible at RHIC.

Nuclear gluon shadowing via dileptons from open charm decay in $p+A$ at $\sqrt s=200$ AGeV

Opposite-sign lepton pairs ($ee$,$eμ$ and $μμ$) from open charm decay are proposed as a measure of nuclear shadowing effects. Via an approximate scaling the ratio of the dilepton spectra from $p+A$ to those from $pp$ reflects the shadowing function well. We show that the required measurements are feasible at the Relativistic Heavy ion Collider (RHIC) by considering the backgrounds according to the proposed PHENIX detector geometry.
