MultiAgentBench: Evaluating the Collaboration and Competition of LLM agents

Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown remarkable capabilities as autonomous agents, yet existing benchmarks either focus on single-agent tasks or are confined to narrow domains, failing to capture the dynamics of multi-agent coordination and competition. In this paper, we introduce MultiAgentBench, a comprehensive benchmark designed to evaluate LLM-based multi-agent systems across diverse, interactive scenarios. Our framework measures not only task completion but also the quality of collaboration and competition using novel, milestone-based key performance indicators. Moreover, we evaluate various coordination protocols (including star, chain, tree, and graph topologies) and innovative strategies such as group discussion and cognitive planning. Notably, gpt-4o-mini reaches the average highest task score, graph structure performs the best among coordination protocols in the research scenario, and cognitive planning improves milestone achievement rates by 3%. Code and datasets are public available at https://github.com/MultiagentBench/MARBLE.

Optimal Bilinear Equalizer for Cell-Free Massive MIMO Systems over Correlated Rician Channels

In this paper, we explore the low-complexity optimal bilinear equalizer (OBE) combining scheme design for cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output networks with spatially correlated Rician fading channels. We provide a spectral efficiency (SE) performance analysis framework for both the centralized and distributed processing schemes with bilinear equalizer (BE)-structure combining schemes applied. The BE-structured combining is a set of schemes that are constructed by the multiplications of channel statistics-based BE matrices and instantaneous channel estimates. Notably, we derive closed-form achievable SE expressions for centralized and distributed BE-structured combining schemes. We propose one centralized and two distributed OBE schemes: Centralized OBE (C-OBE), Distributed OBE based on Global channel statistics (DG-OBE), and Distributed OBE based on Local channel statistics (DL-OBE), which maximize their respective SE expressions. OBE matrices in these schemes are tailored based on varying levels of channel statistics. Notably, we obtain new and insightful closed-form results for the C-OBE, DG-OBE, and DL-OBE combining schemes. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed OBE schemes can achieve excellent SE, even in scenarios with severe pilot contamination.

Optimal Bilinear Equalizer Beamforming Design for Cell-Free Massive MIMO Networks with Arbitrary Channel Estimators

This paper studies the distributed optimal bilinear equalizer (OBE) beamforming design for both the uplink and downlink cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output networks. We consider arbitrary statistics-based channel estimators over spatially correlated Rician fading channels. In the uplink, we derive the achievable spectral efficiency (SE) performance and OBE combining schemes with arbitrary statistics-based channel estimators and compute their respective closed-form expressions. It is insightful to explore that the achievable SE performance is not dependent on the choice of channel estimator when OBE combining schemes are applied over Rayleigh channels. In the downlink, we derive the achievable SE performance expressions with BE precoding schemes and arbitrary statistics-based channel estimators utilized and compute them in closed form. Then, we obtain the OBE precoding scheme leveraging insights from uplink OBE combining schemes.

Analytical Framework for Effective Degrees of Freedom in Near-Field XL-MIMO

Extremely large-scale multiple-input-multiple-output (XL-MIMO) is an emerging transceiver technology for enabling next-generation communication systems, due to its potential for substantial enhancement in both the spectral efficiency and spatial resolution. However, the achievable performance limits of various promising XL-MIMO configurations have yet to be fully evaluated, compared, and discussed. In this paper, we develop an effective degrees of freedom (EDoF) performance analysis framework specifically tailored for near-field XL-MIMO systems. We explore five representative distinct XL-MIMO hardware designs, including uniform planar array (UPA)-based with infinitely thin dipoles, two-dimensional (2D) continuous aperture (CAP) plane-based, UPA-based with patch antennas, uniform linear array (ULA)-based, and one-dimensional (1D) CAP line segment-based XL-MIMO systems. Our analysis encompasses two near-field channel models: the scalar and dyadic Green's function-based channel models. More importantly, when applying the scalar Green's function-based channel, we derive EDoF expressions in the closed-form, characterizing the impacts of the physical size of the transceiver, the transmitting distance, and the carrier frequency. In our numerical results, we evaluate and compare the EDoF performance across all examined XL-MIMO designs, confirming the accuracy of our proposed closed-form expressions. Furthermore, we observe that with an increasing number of antennas, the EDoF performance for both UPA-based and ULA-based systems approaches that of 2D CAP plane and 1D CAP line segment-based systems, respectively. Moreover, we unveil that the EDoF performance for near-field XL-MIMO systems is predominantly determined by the array aperture size rather than the sheer number of antennas.

CoopDETR: A Unified Cooperative Perception Framework for 3D Detection via Object Query

Cooperative perception enhances the individual perception capabilities of autonomous vehicles (AVs) by providing a comprehensive view of the environment. However, balancing perception performance and transmission costs remains a significant challenge. Current approaches that transmit region-level features across agents are limited in interpretability and demand substantial bandwidth, making them unsuitable for practical applications. In this work, we propose CoopDETR, a novel cooperative perception framework that introduces object-level feature cooperation via object query. Our framework consists of two key modules: single-agent query generation, which efficiently encodes raw sensor data into object queries, reducing transmission cost while preserving essential information for detection; and cross-agent query fusion, which includes Spatial Query Matching (SQM) and Object Query Aggregation (OQA) to enable effective interaction between queries. Our experiments on the OPV2V and V2XSet datasets demonstrate that CoopDETR achieves state-of-the-art performance and significantly reduces transmission costs to 1/782 of previous methods.

AgileWatts: An Energy-Efficient CPU Core Idle-State Architecture for Latency-Sensitive Server Applications

User-facing applications running in modern datacenters exhibit irregular request patterns and are implemented using a multitude of services with tight latency requirements. These characteristics render ineffective existing energy conserving techniques when processors are idle due to the long transition time from a deep idle power state (C-state). While prior works propose management techniques to mitigate this inefficiency, we tackle it at its root with AgileWatts (AW): a new deep C-state architecture optimized for datacenter server processors targeting latency-sensitive applications. AW is based on three key ideas. First, AW eliminates the latency overhead of saving/restoring the core context (i.e., micro-architectural state) when powering-off/-on the core in a deep idle power state by i) implementing medium-grained power-gates, carefully distributed across the CPU core, and ii) retaining context in the power-ungated domain. Second, AW eliminates the flush latency overhead (several tens of microseconds) of the L1/L2 caches when entering a deep idle power state by keeping L1/L2 cache content power-ungated. A minimal control logic also remains power-ungated to serve cache coherence traffic (i.e., snoops) seamlessly. AW implements sleep-mode in caches to reduce caches leakage power consumption and lowers a core voltage to the minimum operational voltage level to minimize the leakage power of the power-ungated domain. Third, using a state-of-the-art power efficient all-digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL) clock generator, AW keeps the PLL active and locked during the idle state, further cutting precious microseconds of wake-up latency at a negligible power cost. Our evaluation with an accurate simulator calibrated against an Intel Skylake server shows that AW reduces the energy consumption of Memcached by up to 71% (35% on average) with up to 1% performance degradation.

Unsupervised Entity Alignment Based on Personalized Discriminative Rooted Tree

Entity Alignment (EA) is to link potential equivalent entities across different knowledge graphs (KGs). Most existing EA methods are supervised as they require the supervision of seed alignments, i.e., manually specified aligned entity pairs. Very recently, several EA studies have made some attempts to get rid of seed alignments. Despite achieving preliminary progress, they still suffer two limitations: (1) The entity embeddings produced by their GNN-like encoders lack personalization since some of the aggregation subpaths are shared between different entities. (2) They cannot fully alleviate the distribution distortion issue between candidate KGs due to the absence of the supervised signal. In this work, we propose a novel unsupervised entity alignment approach called UNEA to address the above two issues. First, we parametrically sample a tree neighborhood rooted at each entity, and accordingly develop a tree attention aggregation mechanism to extract a personalized embedding for each entity. Second, we introduce an auxiliary task of maximizing the mutual information between the input and the output of the KG encoder, to regularize the model and prevent the distribution distortion. Extensive experiments show that our UNEA achieves a new state-of-the-art for the unsupervised EA task, and can even outperform many existing supervised EA baselines.

RenderWorld: World Model with Self-Supervised 3D Label

End-to-end autonomous driving with vision-only is not only more cost-effective compared to LiDAR-vision fusion but also more reliable than traditional methods. To achieve a economical and robust purely visual autonomous driving system, we propose RenderWorld, a vision-only end-to-end autonomous driving framework, which generates 3D occupancy labels using a self-supervised gaussian-based Img2Occ Module, then encodes the labels by AM-VAE, and uses world model for forecasting and planning. RenderWorld employs Gaussian Splatting to represent 3D scenes and render 2D images greatly improves segmentation accuracy and reduces GPU memory consumption compared with NeRF-based methods. By applying AM-VAE to encode air and non-air separately, RenderWorld achieves more fine-grained scene element representation, leading to state-of-the-art performance in both 4D occupancy forecasting and motion planning from autoregressive world model.

Aligning Multiple Knowledge Graphs in a Single Pass

Entity alignment (EA) is to identify equivalent entities across different knowledge graphs (KGs), which can help fuse these KGs into a more comprehensive one. Previous EA methods mainly focus on aligning a pair of KGs, and to the best of our knowledge, no existing EA method considers aligning multiple (more than two) KGs. To fill this research gap, in this work, we study a novel problem of aligning multiple KGs and propose an effective framework named MultiEA to solve the problem. First, we embed the entities of all the candidate KGs into a common feature space by a shared KG encoder. Then, we explore three alignment strategies to minimize the distances among pre-aligned entities. In particular, we propose an innovative inference enhancement technique to improve the alignment performance by incorporating high-order similarities. Finally, to verify the effectiveness of MultiEA, we construct two new real-world benchmark datasets and conduct extensive experiments on them. The results show that our MultiEA can effectively and efficiently align multiple KGs in a single pass. We release the source codes of MultiEA at: https://github.com/kepsail/MultiEA.

Deep self-consistent learning of local volatility

We present an algorithm for the calibration of local volatility from market option prices through deep self-consistent learning, by approximating both market option prices and local volatility using deep neural networks. Our method uses the initial-boundary value problem of the underlying Dupire's partial differential equation solved by the parameterized option prices to bring corrections to the parameterization in a self-consistent way. By exploiting the differentiability of neural networks, we can evaluate Dupire's equation locally at each strike-maturity pair; while by exploiting their continuity, we sample strike-maturity pairs uniformly from a given domain, going beyond the discrete points where the options are quoted. Moreover, the absence of arbitrage opportunities are imposed by penalizing an associated loss function as a soft constraint. For comparison with existing approaches, the proposed method is tested on both synthetic and market option prices, which shows an improved performance in terms of reduced interpolation and reprice errors, as well as the smoothness of the calibrated local volatility. An ablation study has been performed, asserting the robustness and significance of the proposed method.

Adversarial Semantic Augmentation for Training Generative Adversarial Networks under Limited Data

Generative adversarial networks (GANs) have made remarkable achievements in synthesizing images in recent years. Typically, training GANs requires massive data, and the performance of GANs deteriorates significantly when training data is limited. To improve the synthesis performance of GANs in low-data regimes, existing approaches use various data augmentation techniques to enlarge the training sets. However, it is identified that these augmentation techniques may leak or even alter the data distribution. To remedy this, we propose an adversarial semantic augmentation (ASA) technique to enlarge the training data at the semantic level instead of the image level. Concretely, considering semantic features usually encode informative information of images, we estimate the covariance matrices of semantic features for both real and generated images to find meaningful transformation directions. Such directions translate original features to another semantic representation, e.g., changing the backgrounds or expressions of the human face dataset. Moreover, we derive an upper bound of the expected adversarial loss. By optimizing the upper bound, our semantic augmentation is implicitly achieved. Such design avoids redundant sampling of the augmented features and introduces negligible computation overhead, making our approach computation efficient. Extensive experiments on both few-shot and large-scale datasets demonstrate that our method consistently improve the synthesis quality under various data regimes, and further visualized and analytic results suggesting satisfactory versatility of our proposed method.

Idempotence and Perceptual Image Compression

Idempotence is the stability of image codec to re-compression. At the first glance, it is unrelated to perceptual image compression. However, we find that theoretically: 1) Conditional generative model-based perceptual codec satisfies idempotence; 2) Unconditional generative model with idempotence constraint is equivalent to conditional generative codec. Based on this newfound equivalence, we propose a new paradigm of perceptual image codec by inverting unconditional generative model with idempotence constraints. Our codec is theoretically equivalent to conditional generative codec, and it does not require training new models. Instead, it only requires a pre-trained mean-square-error codec and unconditional generative model. Empirically, we show that our proposed approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods such as HiFiC and ILLM, in terms of Fréchet Inception Distance (FID). The source code is provided in https://github.com/tongdaxu/Idempotence-and-Perceptual-Image-Compression.

IROAM: Improving Roadside Monocular 3D Object Detection Learning from Autonomous Vehicle Data Domain

In autonomous driving, The perception capabilities of the ego-vehicle can be improved with roadside sensors, which can provide a holistic view of the environment. However, existing monocular detection methods designed for vehicle cameras are not suitable for roadside cameras due to viewpoint domain gaps. To bridge this gap and Improve ROAdside Monocular 3D object detection, we propose IROAM, a semantic-geometry decoupled contrastive learning framework, which takes vehicle-side and roadside data as input simultaneously. IROAM has two significant modules. In-Domain Query Interaction module utilizes a transformer to learn content and depth information for each domain and outputs object queries. Cross-Domain Query Enhancement To learn better feature representations from two domains, Cross-Domain Query Enhancement decouples queries into semantic and geometry parts and only the former is used for contrastive learning. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of IROAM in improving roadside detector's performance. The results validate that IROAM has the capabilities to learn cross-domain information.

Distillation-Driven Diffusion Model for Multi-Scale MRI Super-Resolution: Make 1.5T MRI Great Again

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) offers critical insights into microstructural details, however, the spatial resolution of standard 1.5T imaging systems is often limited. In contrast, 7T MRI provides significantly enhanced spatial resolution, enabling finer visualization of anatomical structures. Though this, the high cost and limited availability of 7T MRI hinder its widespread use in clinical settings. To address this challenge, a novel Super-Resolution (SR) model is proposed to generate 7T-like MRI from standard 1.5T MRI scans. Our approach leverages a diffusion-based architecture, incorporating gradient nonlinearity correction and bias field correction data from 7T imaging as guidance. Moreover, to improve deployability, a progressive distillation strategy is introduced. Specifically, the student model refines the 7T SR task with steps, leveraging feature maps from the inference phase of the teacher model as guidance, aiming to allow the student model to achieve progressively 7T SR performance with a smaller, deployable model size. Experimental results demonstrate that our baseline teacher model achieves state-of-the-art SR performance. The student model, while lightweight, sacrifices minimal performance. Furthermore, the student model is capable of accepting MRI inputs at varying resolutions without the need for retraining, significantly further enhancing deployment flexibility. The clinical relevance of our proposed method is validated using clinical data from Massachusetts General Hospital. Our code is available at https://github.com/ZWang78/SR.

Real-Time Coupled Cluster Theory with Approximate Triples

In order to explore the effects of high levels of electron correlation on the real-time coupled cluster formalism and algorithmic behavior, we introduce a time-dependent implementation of the CC3 singles, doubles and approximate triples method. We demonstrate the validity of our derivation and implementation using specific applications of frequency-dependent properties. Terms with triples are calculated and added to the existing CCSD equations, giving the method a nominal $\textit{O}(N^{7})$ scaling. We also use a graphics processing unit (GPU) accelerated implementation to reduce the computational cost, which we find can speed up the calculation by up to a factor of 17 for test cases of water clusters. In addition, we compare the impact of using single-precision arithmetic compared to conventional double-precision arithmetic. We find no significant difference in polarizabilities and optical-rotation tensor results, but a somewhat larger error for first hyperpolarizabilities. Compared to linear response (LR) CC3 results, the percentage errors of RT-CC3 polarizabilities and RT-CC3 first hyperpolarizabilities are under 0.1% and 1%, respectively, for a water-molecule test case in a double-zeta basis set. Furthermore, we compare the dynamic polarizabilities obtained using RT-CC3, RT-CCSD, and time-dependent nonorthogonal orbital-optimized coupled cluster doubles (TDNOCCD), in order to examine the performance of RT-CC3 and the orbital-optimization effect using a set of ten-electron systems.

SyzParam: Introducing Runtime Parameters into Kernel Driver Fuzzing

This paper introduces a novel fuzzing framework, SyzParam which incorporates runtime parameters into the fuzzing process. Achieving this objective requires addressing several key challenges, including valid value extraction, inter-device relation construction, and fuzz engine integration. By inspecting the data structures and functions associated with the LKDM, our tool can extract runtime parameters across various drivers through static analysis. Additionally, SyzParam collects inter-device relations and identifies associations between runtime parameters and drivers. Furthermore, SyzParam proposes a novel mutation strategy, which leverages these relations and prioritizes parameter modification during related driver execution. Our evaluation demonstrates that SyzParam outperforms existing fuzzing works in driver code coverage and bug-detection capabilities. To date, we have identified 30 unique bugs in the latest kernel upstreams, with 20 confirmed and 14 patched into the mainline kernel, including 9 CVEs.

Simplified and Generalized Masked Diffusion for Discrete Data

Masked (or absorbing) diffusion is actively explored as an alternative to autoregressive models for generative modeling of discrete data. However, existing work in this area has been hindered by unnecessarily complex model formulations and unclear relationships between different perspectives, leading to suboptimal parameterization, training objectives, and ad hoc adjustments to counteract these issues. In this work, we aim to provide a simple and general framework that unlocks the full potential of masked diffusion models. We show that the continuous-time variational objective of masked diffusion models is a simple weighted integral of cross-entropy losses. Our framework also enables training generalized masked diffusion models with state-dependent masking schedules. When evaluated by perplexity, our models trained on OpenWebText surpass prior diffusion language models at GPT-2 scale and demonstrate superior performance on 4 out of 5 zero-shot language modeling tasks. Furthermore, our models vastly outperform previous discrete diffusion models on pixel-level image modeling, achieving 2.75 (CIFAR-10) and 3.40 (ImageNet 64x64) bits per dimension that are better than autoregressive models of similar sizes. Our code is available at https://github.com/google-deepmind/md4.

Graph Analysis Using a GPU-based Parallel Algorithm: Quantum Clustering

The article introduces a new method for applying Quantum Clustering to graph structures. Quantum Clustering (QC) is a novel density-based unsupervised learning method that determines cluster centers by constructing a potential function. In this method, we use the Graph Gradient Descent algorithm to find the centers of clusters. GPU parallelization is utilized for computing potential values. We also conducted experiments on five widely used datasets and evaluated using four indicators. The results show superior performance of the method. Finally, we discuss the influence of $σ$ on the experimental results.
