Inverse-designed meta processing units for multi-task near-field photonic computing

Integrated photonic neural networks require optical operators that are simultaneously compact, matrix-general and compatible with task-level reconfigurability. Here we introduce a meta processing unit (MPU), an inverse-designed near-field photonic device that implements local complex matrix transformations within a shallow-etched silicon region. Each 2x2 operator occupies 9.6 umx4.8 um and is designed as a reusable passive matrix primitive that can be combined with reconfigurable MZI neurons. We demonstrate a 3-bit quantized MZI-equivalent unitary device library with an effective reconstruction precision of 3.32 bits. Beyond unitary operators, we validate arbitrary complex 2x2 matrix fitting and a cascaded 4x4 matrix operation with 92.7% fidelity. We further integrate the MPU with active photonic components and hardware-in-the-loop training, achieving test accuracies of 83.5% and 80.9% on dual-task vowel recognition. In large-scale EMNIST simulations, a fine-grained neuron-level MPU replacement strategy reaches 87.64% average accuracy at 90% shared-MPU replacement, outperforming a layer-level baseline by 7.26 percentage points. These results establish inverse-designed MPUs as compact passive matrix operators for heterogeneous, hardware-adaptive photonic neural networks.

OmniFit: Multi-modal 3D Body Fitting via Scale-agnostic Dense Landmark Prediction

Fitting an underlying body model to 3D clothed human assets has been extensively studied, yet most approaches focus on either single-modal inputs such as point clouds or multi-view images alone, often requiring a known metric scale. This constraint is frequently impractical, especially for AI-generated assets where scale distortion is common. We propose OmniFit, a method that can seamlessly handle diverse multi-modal inputs, including full scans, partial depth observations, and image captures, while remaining scale-agnostic for both real and synthetic assets. Our key innovation is a simple yet effective conditional transformer decoder that directly maps surface points to dense body landmarks, which are then used for SMPL-X parameter fitting. In addition, an optional plug-and-play image adapter incorporates visual cues to compensate for missing geometric information. We further introduce a dedicated scale predictor that rescales subjects to canonical body proportions. OmniFit substantially outperforms state-of-the-art methods by 57.1 to 80.9 percent across daily and loose clothing scenarios. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first body fitting method to surpass multi-view optimization baselines and the first to achieve millimeter-level accuracy on the CAPE and 4D-DRESS benchmarks.

GaussiAnimate: Rig Animatable Categories with Level of Dynamics

We propose Skelebones, a Scaffold-Skin Rigging System built on three steps: (1) Bones compress temporally consistent Gaussian or mesh sequences into free-form bones with smooth skinning weights, approximating non-rigid deformations via linear blend skinning (LBS); (2) Skeleton extracts the Mean Curvature Skeleton (MCS) from the canonical shape and temporally refines its topology and kinematics into a compact skeletal structure; and (3) Binding connects the skeleton and bones through non-parametric Partwise Motion Matching (PartMM), which synthesizes novel bone motions by matching, retrieving, and blending existing ones. Together, these steps compress the dynamics of 4D shapes into compact skelebones that are simultaneously controllable and expressive. The resulting representation is category-agnostic, meaning template-free; motion-adaptive, with dynamic topology; and topology-correct, with a skeleton consistent with the surface geometry. PartMM requires no learning. We validate our method on both synthetic and real-world datasets, achieving substantial reanimation improvements on unseen poses: a 17.3 dB PSNR gain over LBS on DNA-Rendering and a 45.6 dB gain over Bag-of-Bones on ActorsHQ, while preserving high rendering fidelity for characters with complex non-rigid dynamics. PartMM generalizes robustly to both Gaussian and mesh representations, excelling in low-data regimes of approximately 1,000 frames, with a 48.4 RMSE improvement over LBS and improvements of more than 20 over GRU- and MLP-based methods. ETCH-X: Robustify Expressive Body Fitting to Clothed Humans with Composable Datasets

Human body fitting, which aligns parametric body models such as SMPL to raw 3D point clouds of clothed humans, serves as a crucial first step for downstream tasks like animation and texturing. An effective fitting method should be both locally expressive-capturing fine details such as hands and facial features-and globally robust to handle real-world challenges, including clothing dynamics, pose variations, and noisy or partial inputs. Existing approaches typically excel in only one aspect, lacking an all-in-one solution. We upgrade ETCH to ETCH-X, which leverages a tightness-aware fitting paradigm to filter out clothing dynamics ("undress"), extends expressiveness with SMPL-X, and replaces explicit sparse markers (which are highly sensitive to partial data) with implicit dense correspondences ("dense fit") for more robust and fine-grained body fitting. Our disentangled "undress" and "dense fit" modular stages enable separate and scalable training on composable data sources, including diverse simulated garments (CLOTH3D), large-scale full-body motions (AMASS), and fine-grained hand gestures (InterHand2.6M), improving outfit generalization and pose robustness of both bodies and hands. Our approach achieves robust and expressive fitting across diverse clothing, poses, and levels of input completeness, delivering a substantial performance improvement over ETCH on both: 1) seen data, such as 4D-Dress (MPJPE-All, 33.0% ) and CAPE (V2V-Hands, 35.8% ), and 2) unseen data, such as BEDLAM2.0 (MPJPE-All, 80.8% ; V2V-All, 80.5% ). An End-to-end Architecture for Collider Physics and Beyond

We present, to our knowledge, the first language-driven agent system capable of executing end-to-end collider phenomenology tasks, instantiated within a decoupled, domain-agnostic architecture for autonomous High-Energy Physics phenomenology. Guided only by natural-language prompts supplemented with standard physics notation, ColliderAgent carries out workflows from a theoretical Lagrangian to final phenomenological outputs without relying on package-specific code. In this framework, a hierarchical multi-agent reasoning layer is coupled to Magnus, a unified execution backend for phenomenological calculations and simulation toolchains. We validate the system on representative literature reproductions spanning leptoquark and axion-like-particle scenarios, higher-dimensional effective operators, parton-level and detector-level analyses, and large-scale parameter scans leading to exclusion limits. These results point to a route toward more automated, scalable, and reproducible research in collider physics, cosmology, and physics more broadly.

NRGS-SLAM: Monocular Non-Rigid SLAM for Endoscopy via Deformation-Aware 3D Gaussian Splatting

Visual simultaneous localization and mapping (V-SLAM) is a fundamental capability for autonomous perception and navigation. However, endoscopic scenes violate the rigidity assumption due to persistent soft-tissue deformations, creating a strong coupling ambiguity between camera ego-motion and intrinsic deformation. Although recent monocular non-rigid SLAM methods have made notable progress, they often lack effective decoupling mechanisms and rely on sparse or low-fidelity scene representations, which leads to tracking drift and limited reconstruction quality. To address these limitations, we propose NRGS-SLAM, a monocular non-rigid SLAM system for endoscopy based on 3D Gaussian Splatting. To resolve the coupling ambiguity, we introduce a deformation-aware 3D Gaussian map that augments each Gaussian primitive with a learnable deformation probability, optimized via a Bayesian self-supervision strategy without requiring external non-rigidity labels. Building on this representation, we design a deformable tracking module that performs robust coarse-to-fine pose estimation by prioritizing low-deformation regions, followed by efficient per-frame deformation updates. A carefully designed deformable mapping module progressively expands and refines the map, balancing representational capacity and computational efficiency. In addition, a unified robust geometric loss incorporates external geometric priors to mitigate the inherent ill-posedness of monocular non-rigid SLAM. Extensive experiments on multiple public endoscopic datasets demonstrate that NRGS-SLAM achieves more accurate camera pose estimation (up to 50\% reduction in RMSE) and higher-quality photo-realistic reconstructions than state-of-the-art methods. Comprehensive ablation studies further validate the effectiveness of our key design choices. Source code will be publicly available upon paper acceptance.

4D Monocular Surgical Reconstruction under Arbitrary Camera Motions

Reconstructing deformable surgical scenes from endoscopic videos is challenging and clinically important. Recent state-of-the-art methods based on implicit neural representations or 3D Gaussian splatting have made notable progress. However, most are designed for deformable scenes with fixed endoscope viewpoints and rely on stereo depth priors or accurate structure-from-motion for initialization and optimization, limiting their ability to handle monocular sequences with large camera motion in real clinical settings. To address this, we propose Local-EndoGS, a high-quality 4D reconstruction framework for monocular endoscopic sequences with arbitrary camera motion. Local-EndoGS introduces a progressive, window-based global representation that allocates local deformable scene models to each observed window, enabling scalability to long sequences with substantial motion. To overcome unreliable initialization without stereo depth or accurate structure-from-motion, we design a coarse-to-fine strategy integrating multi-view geometry, cross-window information, and monocular depth priors, providing a robust foundation for optimization. We further incorporate long-range 2D pixel trajectory constraints and physical motion priors to improve deformation plausibility. Experiments on three public endoscopic datasets with deformable scenes and varying camera motions show that Local-EndoGS consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods in appearance quality and geometry. Ablation studies validate the effectiveness of our key designs. Code will be released upon acceptance at: https://github.com/IRMVLab/Local-EndoGS.

Muses: Designing, Composing, Generating Nonexistent Fantasy 3D Creatures without Training

We present Muses, the first training-free method for fantastic 3D creature generation in a feed-forward paradigm. Previous methods, which rely on part-aware optimization, manual assembly, or 2D image generation, often produce unrealistic or incoherent 3D assets due to the challenges of intricate part-level manipulation and limited out-of-domain generation. In contrast, Muses leverages the 3D skeleton, a fundamental representation of biological forms, to explicitly and rationally compose diverse elements. This skeletal foundation formalizes 3D content creation as a structure-aware pipeline of design, composition, and generation. Muses begins by constructing a creatively composed 3D skeleton with coherent layout and scale through graph-constrained reasoning. This skeleton then guides a voxel-based assembly process within a structured latent space, integrating regions from different objects. Finally, image-guided appearance modeling under skeletal conditions is applied to generate a style-consistent and harmonious texture for the assembled shape. Extensive experiments establish Muses' state-of-the-art performance in terms of visual fidelity and alignment with textual descriptions, and potential on flexible 3D object editing. MorphAny3D: Unleashing the Power of Structured Latent in 3D Morphing

3D morphing remains challenging due to the difficulty of generating semantically consistent and temporally smooth deformations, especially across categories. We present MorphAny3D, a training-free framework that leverages Structured Latent (SLAT) representations for high-quality 3D morphing. Our key insight is that intelligently blending source and target SLAT features within the attention mechanisms of 3D generators naturally produces plausible morphing sequences. To this end, we introduce Morphing Cross-Attention (MCA), which fuses source and target information for structural coherence, and Temporal-Fused Self-Attention (TFSA), which enhances temporal consistency by incorporating features from preceding frames. An orientation correction strategy further mitigates the pose ambiguity within the morphing steps. Extensive experiments show that our method generates state-of-the-art morphing sequences, even for challenging cross-category cases. MorphAny3D further supports advanced applications such as decoupled morphing and 3D style transfer, and can be generalized to other SLAT-based generative models. An Effective Method for Solving a Class of Transcendental Diophantine Equations

This paper investigates the exponential Diophantine equation of the form $a^x+b=c^y$, where $a, b, c$ are given positive integers with $a,c \ge 2$, and $x,y$ are positive integer unknowns. We define this form as a "Type-I transcendental diophantine equation." A general solution to this problem remains an open question; however, the ABC conjecture implies that the number of solutions for any such equation is finite. This work introduces and implements an effective algorithm designed to solve these equations. The method first computes a strict upper bound for potential solutions given the parameters $(a, b, c)$ and then identifies all solutions via finite enumeration. While the universal termination of this algorithm is not theoretically guaranteed, its heuristic-based design has proven effective and reliable in large-scale numerical experiments. Crucially, for each instance it successfully solves, the algorithm is capable of generating a rigorous mathematical proof of the solution's completeness.

Iterated Agent for Symbolic Regression

Symbolic regression (SR), the automated discovery of mathematical expressions from data, is a cornerstone of scientific inquiry. However, it is often hindered by the combinatorial explosion of the search space and a tendency to overfit. Popular methods, rooted in genetic programming, explore this space syntactically, often yielding overly complex, uninterpretable models. This paper introduces IdeaSearchFitter, a framework that employs Large Language Models (LLMs) as semantic operators within an evolutionary search. By generating candidate expressions guided by natural-language rationales, our method biases discovery towards models that are not only accurate but also conceptually coherent and interpretable. We demonstrate IdeaSearchFitter's efficacy across diverse challenges: it achieves competitive, noise-robust performance on the Feynman Symbolic Regression Database (FSReD), outperforming several strong baselines; discovers mechanistically aligned models with good accuracy-complexity trade-offs on real-world data; and derives compact, physically-motivated parametrizations for Parton Distribution Functions in a frontier high-energy physics application. IdeaSearchFitter is a specialized module within our broader iterated agent framework, IdeaSearch, which is publicly available at https://www.ideasearch.cn/.

UP2You: Fast Reconstruction of Yourself from Unconstrained Photo Collections

We present UP2You, the first tuning-free solution for reconstructing high-fidelity 3D clothed portraits from extremely unconstrained in-the-wild 2D photos. Unlike previous approaches that require "clean" inputs (e.g., full-body images with minimal occlusions, or well-calibrated cross-view captures), UP2You directly processes raw, unstructured photographs, which may vary significantly in pose, viewpoint, cropping, and occlusion. Instead of compressing data into tokens for slow online text-to-3D optimization, we introduce a data rectifier paradigm that efficiently converts unconstrained inputs into clean, orthogonal multi-view images in a single forward pass within seconds, simplifying the 3D reconstruction. Central to UP2You is a pose-correlated feature aggregation module (PCFA), that selectively fuses information from multiple reference images w.r.t. target poses, enabling better identity preservation and nearly constant memory footprint, with more observations. We also introduce a perceiver-based multi-reference shape predictor, removing the need for pre-captured body templates. Extensive experiments on 4D-Dress, PuzzleIOI, and in-the-wild captures demonstrate that UP2You consistently surpasses previous methods in both geometric accuracy (Chamfer-15%, P2S-18% on PuzzleIOI) and texture fidelity (PSNR-21%, LPIPS-46% on 4D-Dress). UP2You is efficient (1.5 minutes per person), and versatile (supports arbitrary pose control, and training-free multi-garment 3D virtual try-on), making it practical for real-world scenarios where humans are casually captured. Both models and code will be released to facilitate future research on this underexplored task. Project Page: https://zcai0612.github.io/UP2You

MagicAnime: A Hierarchically Annotated, Multimodal and Multitasking Dataset with Benchmarks for Cartoon Animation Generation

Generating high-quality cartoon animations multimodal control is challenging due to the complexity of non-human characters, stylistically diverse motions and fine-grained emotions. There is a huge domain gap between real-world videos and cartoon animation, as cartoon animation is usually abstract and has exaggerated motion. Meanwhile, public multimodal cartoon data are extremely scarce due to the difficulty of large-scale automatic annotation processes compared with real-life scenarios. To bridge this gap, We propose the MagicAnime dataset, a large-scale, hierarchically annotated, and multimodal dataset designed to support multiple video generation tasks, along with the benchmarks it includes. Containing 400k video clips for image-to-video generation, 50k pairs of video clips and keypoints for whole-body annotation, 12k pairs of video clips for video-to-video face animation, and 2.9k pairs of video and audio clips for audio-driven face animation. Meanwhile, we also build a set of multi-modal cartoon animation benchmarks, called MagicAnime-Bench, to support the comparisons of different methods in the tasks above. Comprehensive experiments on four tasks, including video-driven face animation, audio-driven face animation, image-to-video animation, and pose-driven character animation, validate its effectiveness in supporting high-fidelity, fine-grained, and controllable generation.

AssetDropper: Asset Extraction via Diffusion Models with Reward-Driven Optimization

Recent research on generative models has primarily focused on creating product-ready visual outputs; however, designers often favor access to standardized asset libraries, a domain that has yet to be significantly enhanced by generative capabilities. Although open-world scenes provide ample raw materials for designers, efficiently extracting high-quality, standardized assets remains a challenge. To address this, we introduce AssetDropper, the first framework designed to extract assets from reference images, providing artists with an open-world asset palette. Our model adeptly extracts a front view of selected subjects from input images, effectively handling complex scenarios such as perspective distortion and subject occlusion. We establish a synthetic dataset of more than 200,000 image-subject pairs and a real-world benchmark with thousands more for evaluation, facilitating the exploration of future research in downstream tasks. Furthermore, to ensure precise asset extraction that aligns well with the image prompts, we employ a pre-trained reward model to fulfill a closed-loop with feedback. We design the reward model to perform an inverse task that pastes the extracted assets back into the reference sources, which assists training with additional consistency and mitigates hallucination. Extensive experiments show that, with the aid of reward-driven optimization, AssetDropper achieves the state-of-the-art results in asset extraction. Project page: AssetDropper.github.io.

PHYBench: Holistic Evaluation of Physical Perception and Reasoning in Large Language Models

Current benchmarks for evaluating the reasoning capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) face significant limitations: task oversimplification, data contamination, and flawed evaluation items. These deficiencies necessitate more rigorous assessment methods. To address these limitations, we introduce PHYBench, a benchmark of 500 original physics problems ranging from high school to Physics Olympiad difficulty. PHYBench addresses data contamination through original content and employs a systematic curation pipeline to eliminate flawed items. Evaluations show that PHYBench activates more tokens and provides stronger differentiation between reasoning models compared to other baselines like AIME 2024, OlympiadBench and GPQA. Even the best-performing model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, achieves only 36.9% accuracy compared to human experts' 61.9%. To further enhance evaluation precision, we introduce the Expression Edit Distance (EED) Score for mathematical expression assessment, which improves sample efficiency by 204% over binary scoring. Moreover, PHYBench effectively elicits multi-step and multi-condition reasoning, providing a platform for examining models' reasoning robustness, preferences, and deficiencies. The benchmark results and dataset are publicly available at https://www.phybench.cn/.

ETCH: Generalizing Body Fitting to Clothed Humans via Equivariant Tightness

Fitting a body to a 3D clothed human point cloud is a common yet challenging task. Traditional optimization-based approaches use multi-stage pipelines that are sensitive to pose initialization, while recent learning-based methods often struggle with generalization across diverse poses and garment types. We propose Equivariant Tightness Fitting for Clothed Humans, or ETCH, a novel pipeline that estimates cloth-to-body surface mapping through locally approximate SE(3) equivariance, encoding tightness as displacement vectors from the cloth surface to the underlying body. Following this mapping, pose-invariant body features regress sparse body markers, simplifying clothed human fitting into an inner-body marker fitting task. Extensive experiments on CAPE and 4D-Dress show that ETCH significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods -- both tightness-agnostic and tightness-aware -- in body fitting accuracy on loose clothing (16.7% ~ 69.5%) and shape accuracy (average 49.9%). Our equivariant tightness design can even reduce directional errors by (67.2% ~ 89.8%) in one-shot (or out-of-distribution) settings (~ 1% data). Qualitative results demonstrate strong generalization of ETCH, regardless of challenging poses, unseen shapes, loose clothing, and non-rigid dynamics. We will release the code and models soon for research purposes at https://boqian-li.github.io/ETCH/.

Deformable Gaussian Splatting for Efficient and High-Fidelity Reconstruction of Surgical Scenes

Efficient and high-fidelity reconstruction of deformable surgical scenes is a critical yet challenging task. Building on recent advancements in 3D Gaussian splatting, current methods have seen significant improvements in both reconstruction quality and rendering speed. However, two major limitations remain: (1) difficulty in handling irreversible dynamic changes, such as tissue shearing, which are common in surgical scenes; and (2) the lack of hierarchical modeling for surgical scene deformation, which reduces rendering speed. To address these challenges, we introduce EH-SurGS, an efficient and high-fidelity reconstruction algorithm for deformable surgical scenes. We propose a deformation modeling approach that incorporates the life cycle of 3D Gaussians, effectively capturing both regular and irreversible deformations, thus enhancing reconstruction quality. Additionally, we present an adaptive motion hierarchy strategy that distinguishes between static and deformable regions within the surgical scene. This strategy reduces the number of 3D Gaussians passing through the deformation field, thereby improving rendering speed. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method surpasses existing state-of-the-art approaches in both reconstruction quality and rendering speed. Ablation studies further validate the effectiveness and necessity of our proposed components. We will open-source our code upon acceptance of the paper.

StrandHead: Text to Hair-Disentangled 3D Head Avatars Using Human-Centric Priors

While haircut indicates distinct personality, existing avatar generation methods fail to model practical hair due to the data limitation or entangled representation. We propose StrandHead, a novel text-driven method capable of generating 3D hair strands and disentangled head avatars with strand-level attributes. Instead of using large-scale hair-text paired data for supervision, we demonstrate that realistic hair strands can be generated from prompts by distilling 2D generative models pre-trained on human mesh data. To this end, we propose a meshing approach guided by strand geometry to guarantee the gradient flow from the distillation objective to the neural strand representation. The optimization is then regularized by statistically significant haircut features, leading to stable updating of strands against unreasonable drifting. These employed 2D/3D human-centric priors contribute to text-aligned and realistic 3D strand generation. Extensive experiments show that StrandHead achieves the state-of-the-art performance on text to strand generation and disentangled 3D head avatar modeling. The generated 3D hair can be applied on avatars for strand-level editing, as well as implemented in the graphics engine for physical simulation or other applications.
