The method of the kernel of the evolution equation in the theory of gravity

The method of covariant perturbation theory allowed for the computation of the kernel of the evolution equation on a spin Riemannian manifold. The proposed axiomatic definition of the covariant effective action introduces the universal scale parameter, with the length square dimensionality, into a dimensionless mathematical theory. It is shown that this geometrical result has a physical meaning of the action of field theory, including gravity. Two lowest tensor order terms of this functional are independent of a spin group and local. They reproduce the action of general relativity with the cosmological constant. The current value of the universal scale can be determined with the measured Hubble constant. This scale parameter considered as a physical variable can let us build cosmological theories axiomatically.

The method of the kernel of the evolution equation in the gravity theory

The method of 'covariant perturbation theory' allowed for the computation of the kernel of the evolution equation on a spin Riemannian manifold. The proposed axiomatic definition of the effective action introduces the universal scale parameter, with the length square dimensionality, into a dimensionless mathematical theory. It is shown that this geometrical result has a physical meaning of the action of field theory, including gravity. Two orders lowest in a tensor rank in this functional are independent of a spin group and local. They reproduce the action of relativity with the cosmological constant. The modern value of the universal scale could be determined by the measured Hubble constant. The variable scale parameter could let us build axiomatic cosmological theories.

The theory of surface heat capacity and its experimental verification. The scaling of specific heats of diamond lattice materials

The field (geometrical) theory of specific heat is based on the universal thermal sum, a new mathematical tool derived from the evolution equation in the Euclidean four-dimensional spacetime, with the closed time coordinate. This theory made it possible to study the phenomena of scaling in the heat capacity of condensed matter. The scaling of specific heat of the carbon group elements with a diamond lattice is revisited. The predictions of the scaling characteristics for natural diamond and grey tin are verified with experimental data. The fourth power in temperature in the quasi-low temperature behaviour of the specific heat of both materials is confirmed. The phenomenon of scaling in the specific heat of some zincblend lattice compounds and diamond lattice elements is explored with their characteristic temperatures. The nearly identical elastic properties of grey tin and indium antimonide is the cause for similarity of their thermal properties, which makes it possible to propose conjectures about the thermal properties of grey tin. The derivation of the specific heat of two-dimensional bodies is presented and used to explore the surface heat capacity. The surface specific heat, which is inversely proportional to the effective size of a material body, must always be considered in theory and experiment. The surface contribution in total specific heat, which at sufficiently low temperatures is the cubic in temperature term, is demonstrated to be present in the datasets for powders of grey tin and sodium chloride, and two natural diamonds.

The action and the physical scale of field theory

The evolution equation is used as the fundamental equation of field theory, which is described entirely by the geometry of the four-dimensional space. The evolution kernel determines the covariant action of physical fields by the proper time integral. This axiomatic definition introduces into dimensionless theory the universal physical scale (characteristic length). The universal scale relates the action's geometrical orders expressed in the field strength tensors. The covariant effective action is finite at any order in the curvatures and nonlocal starting from the second order. Its two lowest, local orders correspond to the cosmological constant term and the gravity action. The action of gauge fields appears in the second order term. The higher, nonlocal orders generalize the classical actions of gravity and gauge fields. The characteristic length is determined by the measured Hubble constant. The Planck scale values have no physical significance. The physical dimensionality is violated in functional integration. The dimensional regularization is an ill-defined procedure.

The quasi-low temperature behaviour of specific heat

A new mathematical approach to condensed matter physics, based on the finite temperature field theory, was recently proposed. The field theory is a scale-free formalism, thus, it denies absolute values of thermodynamic temperature and uses dimensionless thermal variables, which are obtained with the group velocities of sound and the interatomic distance. This formalism was previously applied to the specific heat of condensed matter and predicted its fourth power of temperature behaviour at sufficiently low temperatures, which was tested by experimental data for diamond lattice materials. The range of temperatures with the quartic law varies for different materials, therefore, it is called the quasi-low temperature regime. The quasi-low temperature behavior of specific heat is verified here with experimental data for the fcc lattice materials, silver chloride and lithium iodide. The conjecture that the fourth order behavior is universal for all condensed matter systems is also supported the data for glassy matter: vitreous silica. This law is long known to hold for the bcc solid helium-4. The characteristic temperatures of the threshold of the quasi-low temperature regime are found for the studied materials. The scaling in the specific heat of condensed matter is expressed by the dimensionless parameter, which is explored with the data for several glasses. The explanation of the correlation of the 'boson peak' temperature with the shear velocity is proposed. The critique of the Debye theory of specific heat and the Born-von Karman model of the lattice dynamics is given.
