Observation of Near-Critical Kibble-Zurek Scaling in Rydberg Atom Arrays

The Kibble-Zurek scaling reveals the universal dynamics when a system is linearly ramped across a symmetry-breaking phase transition. However, in reality, inevitable finite-size effects or symmetrybreaking perturbations can often smear out the critical point and render the phase transition into a smooth crossover. In this letter, we show experimentally that the precise Kibble-Zurek scaling can be retained in the near-critical crossover regime, not necessarily crossing the critical point strictly. The key ingredient to achieving this near-critical Kibble-Zurek scaling is that the system size and the symmetry-breaking field must be appropriately scaled following the variation of ramping speeds. The experiment is performed in a reconfigurable Rydberg atom array platform, where the Rydberg blockade effect induces a Z2 symmetry-breaking transition. The atom array platform enables precise control of the system size and the zigzag geometry as a symmetry-breaking field. Therefore, we can demonstrate notable differences in the precision of the Kibble-Zurek scaling with or without properly scaling the system size and the zigzag geometry. Our results strengthen the Kibble-Zurek scaling as an increasingly valuable tool for investigating phase transition in quantum simulation platforms.

LO2: Microservice API Anomaly Dataset of Logs and Metrics

Context. Microservice-based systems have gained significant attention over the past years. A critical factor for understanding and analyzing the behavior of these systems is the collection of monitoring data such as logs, metrics, and traces. These data modalities can be used for anomaly detection and root cause analysis of failures. In particular, multi-modal methods utilizing several types of this data at once have gained traction in the research community since these three modalities capture different dimensions of system behavior. Aim. We provide a dataset that supports research on anomaly detection and architectural degradation in microservice systems. We generate a comprehensive dataset of logs, metrics, and traces from a production microservice system to enable the exploration of multi-modal fusion methods that integrate multiple data modalities. Method. We dynamically tested the various APIs of the MS-based system, implementing the OAuth2.0 protocol using the Locust tool. For each execution of the prepared test suite, we collect logs and performance metrics for correct and erroneous calls with data labeled according to the error triggered during the call. Contributions. We collected approximately 657,000 individual log files, totaling over two billion log lines. In addition, we collected more than 45 million individual metric files that contain 485 unique metrics. We provide an initial analysis of logs, identify key metrics through PCA, and discuss challenges in collecting traces for this system. Moreover, we highlight the possibilities for making a more fine-grained version of the data set. This work advances anomaly detection in microservice systems using multiple data sources.

SELC: Self-Supervised Efficient Local Correspondence Learning for Low Quality Images

Accurate and stable feature matching is critical for computer vision tasks, particularly in applications such as Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). While recent learning-based feature matching methods have demonstrated promising performance in challenging spatiotemporal scenarios, they still face inherent trade-offs between accuracy and computational efficiency in specific settings. In this paper, we propose a lightweight feature matching network designed to establish sparse, stable, and consistent correspondence between multiple frames. The proposed method eliminates the dependency on manual annotations during training and mitigates feature drift through a hybrid self-supervised paradigm. Extensive experiments validate three key advantages: (1) Our method operates without dependency on external prior knowledge and seamlessly incorporates its hybrid training mechanism into original datasets. (2) Benchmarked against state-of-the-art deep learning-based methods, our approach maintains equivalent computational efficiency at low-resolution scales while achieving a 2-10x improvement in computational efficiency for high-resolution inputs. (3) Comparative evaluations demonstrate that the proposed hybrid self-supervised scheme effectively mitigates feature drift in long-term tracking while maintaining consistent representation across image sequences.

Parallelized Autoregressive Visual Generation

Autoregressive models have emerged as a powerful approach for visual generation but suffer from slow inference speed due to their sequential token-by-token prediction process. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective approach for parallelized autoregressive visual generation that improves generation efficiency while preserving the advantages of autoregressive modeling. Our key insight is that parallel generation depends on visual token dependencies-tokens with weak dependencies can be generated in parallel, while strongly dependent adjacent tokens are difficult to generate together, as their independent sampling may lead to inconsistencies. Based on this observation, we develop a parallel generation strategy that generates distant tokens with weak dependencies in parallel while maintaining sequential generation for strongly dependent local tokens. Our approach can be seamlessly integrated into standard autoregressive models without modifying the architecture or tokenizer. Experiments on ImageNet and UCF-101 demonstrate that our method achieves a 3.6x speedup with comparable quality and up to 9.5x speedup with minimal quality degradation across both image and video generation tasks. We hope this work will inspire future research in efficient visual generation and unified autoregressive modeling. Project page: https://yuqingwang1029.github.io/PAR-project.

Loong: Generating Minute-level Long Videos with Autoregressive Language Models

It is desirable but challenging to generate content-rich long videos in the scale of minutes. Autoregressive large language models (LLMs) have achieved great success in generating coherent and long sequences of tokens in the domain of natural language processing, while the exploration of autoregressive LLMs for video generation is limited to generating short videos of several seconds. In this work, we conduct a deep analysis of the challenges that prevent autoregressive LLM-based video generators from generating long videos. Based on the observations and analysis, we propose Loong, a new autoregressive LLM-based video generator that can generate minute-long videos. Specifically, we model the text tokens and video tokens as a unified sequence for autoregressive LLMs and train the model from scratch. We propose progressive short-to-long training with a loss re-weighting scheme to mitigate the loss imbalance problem for long video training. We further investigate inference strategies, including video token re-encoding and sampling strategies, to diminish error accumulation during inference. Our proposed Loong can be trained on 10-second videos and be extended to generate minute-level long videos conditioned on text prompts, as demonstrated by the results. Formation Control of Multi-agent System with Local Interaction and Artificial Potential Field

A novel local interaction control method (LICM) is proposed in this paper to realize the formation control of multi-agent system (MAS). A local interaction leader follower (LILF) structure is provided by coupling the advantages of information consensus and leader follower frame, the agents can obtain the state information of the leader by interacting with their neighbours, which will reduce the communication overhead of the system and the dependence on a single node of the topology. In addition, the artificial potential field (APF) method is introduced to achieve obstacle avoidance and collision avoidance between agents. Inspired by the stress response of animals, a stress response mechanism-artificial potential field (SRM-APF) is proposed, which will be triggered when the local minimum problem of APF occurs. Ultimately, the simulation experiments of three formation shapes, including triangular formation, square formation and hexagonal formation, validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

SPORTU: A Comprehensive Sports Understanding Benchmark for Multimodal Large Language Models

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) are advancing the ability to reason about complex sports scenarios by integrating textual and visual information. To comprehensively evaluate their capabilities, we introduce SPORTU, a benchmark designed to assess MLLMs across multi-level sports reasoning tasks. SPORTU comprises two key components: SPORTU-text, featuring 900 multiple-choice questions with human-annotated explanations for rule comprehension and strategy understanding. This component focuses on testing models' ability to reason about sports solely through question-answering (QA), without requiring visual inputs; SPORTU-video, consisting of 1,701 slow-motion video clips across 7 different sports and 12,048 QA pairs, designed to assess multi-level reasoning, from simple sports recognition to complex tasks like foul detection and rule application. We evaluate four prevalent LLMs mainly utilizing few-shot learning paradigms supplemented by chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting on the SPORTU-text part. We evaluate four LLMs using few-shot learning and chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting on SPORTU-text. GPT-4o achieves the highest accuracy of 71%, but still falls short of human-level performance, highlighting room for improvement in rule comprehension and reasoning. The evaluation for the SPORTU-video part includes 7 proprietary and 6 open-source MLLMs. Experiments show that models fall short on hard tasks that require deep reasoning and rule-based understanding. Claude-3.5-Sonnet performs the best with only 52.6% accuracy on the hard task, showing large room for improvement. We hope that SPORTU will serve as a critical step toward evaluating models' capabilities in sports understanding and reasoning.

Parametric Point Cloud Completion for Polygonal Surface Reconstruction

Existing polygonal surface reconstruction methods heavily depend on input completeness and struggle with incomplete point clouds. We argue that while current point cloud completion techniques may recover missing points, they are not optimized for polygonal surface reconstruction, where the parametric representation of underlying surfaces remains overlooked. To address this gap, we introduce parametric completion, a novel paradigm for point cloud completion, which recovers parametric primitives instead of individual points to convey high-level geometric structures. Our presented approach, PaCo, enables high-quality polygonal surface reconstruction by leveraging plane proxies that encapsulate both plane parameters and inlier points, proving particularly effective in challenging scenarios with highly incomplete data. Comprehensive evaluations of our approach on the ABC dataset establish its effectiveness with superior performance and set a new standard for polygonal surface reconstruction from incomplete data. Native Sparse Attention: Hardware-Aligned and Natively Trainable Sparse Attention

Long-context modeling is crucial for next-generation language models, yet the high computational cost of standard attention mechanisms poses significant computational challenges. Sparse attention offers a promising direction for improving efficiency while maintaining model capabilities. We present NSA, a Natively trainable Sparse Attention mechanism that integrates algorithmic innovations with hardware-aligned optimizations to achieve efficient long-context modeling. NSA employs a dynamic hierarchical sparse strategy, combining coarse-grained token compression with fine-grained token selection to preserve both global context awareness and local precision. Our approach advances sparse attention design with two key innovations: (1) We achieve substantial speedups through arithmetic intensity-balanced algorithm design, with implementation optimizations for modern hardware. (2) We enable end-to-end training, reducing pretraining computation without sacrificing model performance. As shown in Figure 1, experiments show the model pretrained with NSA maintains or exceeds Full Attention models across general benchmarks, long-context tasks, and instruction-based reasoning. Meanwhile, NSA achieves substantial speedups over Full Attention on 64k-length sequences across decoding, forward propagation, and backward propagation, validating its efficiency throughout the model lifecycle.

Research on Event-Related Desynchronization of Motor Imagery and Movement Based on Localized EEG Cortical Sources

This study investigates event-related desynchronization (ERD) phenomena during motor imagery and actual movement. Using sLORETA software, we analyzed the cortical current source density distributions in Mu and Beta frequency bands for 33 subjects during rest, motor imagery, and actual movement conditions. The results were normalized for analysis. Using sLORETA's statistical tools, paired t-tests were conducted to compare the normalized current source density results between rest and motor imagery, rest and actual movement, and motor imagery and actual movement conditions in both frequency bands. The findings revealed: In both Mu and Beta frequency bands, during motor imagery, significant ERD (P<0.01) was observed in the salience network, supplementary motor area, primary motor area, premotor cortex, primary somatosensory cortex, and parietofrontal mirror neuron system. During actual movement, significant ERD (P<0.05) was observed in the primary somatosensory cortex, primary motor area, and parietofrontal mirror neuron system in both frequency bands. Comparing motor imagery to actual movement, the current source density in the primary somatosensory cortex and parietofrontal mirror neuron system was higher during motor imagery, though this difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). This paper analyzes the factors contributing to these statistical results and proposes preliminary solutions.

Design and implementation of a distributed security threat detection system integrating federated learning and multimodal LLM

Traditional security protection methods struggle to address sophisticated attack vectors in large-scale distributed systems, particularly when balancing detection accuracy with data privacy concerns. This paper presents a novel distributed security threat detection system that integrates federated learning with multimodal large language models (LLMs). Our system leverages federated learning to ensure data privacy while employing multimodal LLMs to process heterogeneous data sources including network traffic, system logs, images, and sensor data. Experimental evaluation on a 10TB distributed dataset demonstrates that our approach achieves 96.4% detection accuracy, outperforming traditional baseline models by 4.1 percentage points. The system reduces both false positive and false negative rates by 1.8 and 2.4 percentage points respectively. Performance analysis shows that our system maintains efficient processing capabilities in distributed environments, requiring 180 seconds for model training and 3.8 seconds for threat detection across the distributed network. These results demonstrate significant improvements in detection accuracy and computational efficiency while preserving data privacy, suggesting strong potential for real-world deployment in large-scale security systems.

Cross-System Categorization of Abnormal Traces in Microservice-Based Systems via Meta-Learning

Microservice-based systems (MSS) may fail with various fault types. While existing AIOps methods excel at detecting abnormal traces and locating the responsible service(s), human efforts are still required for diagnosing specific fault types and failure causes. This paper presents TraFaultDia, a novel AIOps framework to automatically classify abnormal traces into fault categories for MSS. We treat the classification process as a series of multi-class classification tasks, where each task represents an attempt to classify abnormal traces into specific fault categories for a MSS. TraFaultDia leverages meta-learning to train on several abnormal trace classification tasks with a few labeled instances from a MSS, enabling quick adaptation to new, unseen abnormal trace classification tasks with a few labeled instances across MSS. TraFaultDia's use cases are scalable depending on how fault categories are built from anomalies within MSS. We evaluated TraFaultDia on two MSS, TrainTicket and OnlineBoutique, with open datasets where each fault category is linked to faulty system components (service/pod) and a root cause. TraFaultDia automatically classifies abnormal traces into these fault categories, thus enabling the automatic identification of faulty system components and root causes without manual analysis. TraFaultDia achieves 93.26% and 85.20% accuracy on 50 new classification tasks for TrainTicket and OnlineBoutique, respectively, when trained within the same MSS with 10 labeled instances per category. In the cross-system context, when TraFaultDia is applied to a MSS different from the one it is trained on, TraFaultDia gets an average accuracy of 92.19% and 84.77% for the same set of 50 new, unseen abnormal trace classification tasks of the respective systems, also with 10 labeled instances provided for each fault category per task in each system.

Cloud computing adoption across industries has revolutionized enterprise operations while introducing significant challenges in compliance management. Organizations must continuously meet evolving regulatory requirements such as GDPR and ISO 27001, yet traditional manual review processes have become increasingly inadequate for modern business scales. This paper presents a novel machine learning-based framework for automating cloud computing compliance processes, addressing critical challenges including resource-intensive manual reviews, extended compliance cycles, and delayed risk identification. Our proposed framework integrates multiple machine learning technologies, including BERT-based document processing (94.5% accuracy), One-Class SVM for anomaly detection (88.7% accuracy), and an improved CNN-LSTM architecture for sequential compliance data analysis (90.2% accuracy). Implementation results demonstrate significant improvements: reducing compliance process duration from 7 days to 1.5 days, improving accuracy from 78% to 93%, and decreasing manual effort by 73.3%. A real-world deployment at a major securities firm validated these results, processing 800,000 daily transactions with 94.2% accuracy in risk identification.

Cross-System Software Log-based Anomaly Detection Using Meta-Learning

Modern software systems produce vast amounts of logs, serving as an essential resource for anomaly detection. Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps) tools have been developed to automate the process of log-based anomaly detection for software systems. Three practical challenges are widely recognized in this field: high data labeling costs, evolving logs in dynamic systems, and adaptability across different systems. In this paper, we propose CroSysLog, an AIOps tool for log-event level anomaly detection, specifically designed in response to these challenges. Following prior approaches, CroSysLog uses a neural representation approach to gain a nuanced understanding of logs and generate representations for individual log events accordingly. CroSysLog can be trained on source systems with sufficient labeled logs from open datasets to achieve robustness, and then efficiently adapt to target systems with a few labeled log events for effective anomaly detection. We evaluate CroSysLog using open datasets of four large-scale distributed supercomputing systems: BGL, Thunderbird, Liberty, and Spirit. We used random log splits, maintaining the chronological order of consecutive log events, from these systems to train and evaluate CroSysLog. These splits were widely distributed across a one/two-year span of each system's log collection duration, thereby capturing the evolving nature of the logs in each system. Our results show that, after training CroSysLog on Liberty and BGL as source systems, CroSysLog can efficiently adapt to target systems Thunderbird and Spirit using a few labeled log events from each target system, effectively performing anomaly detection for these target systems. The results demonstrate that CroSysLog is a practical, scalable, and adaptable tool for log-event level anomaly detection in operational and maintenance contexts of software systems.

Provable Acceleration of Nesterov's Accelerated Gradient for Rectangular Matrix Factorization and Linear Neural Networks

We study the convergence rate of first-order methods for rectangular matrix factorization, which is a canonical nonconvex optimization problem. Specifically, given a rank-$r$ matrix $\mathbf{A}\in\mathbb{R}^{m\times n}$, we prove that gradient descent (GD) can find a pair of $ε$-optimal solutions $\mathbf{X}_T\in\mathbb{R}^{m\times d}$ and $\mathbf{Y}_T\in\mathbb{R}^{n\times d}$, where $d\geq r$, satisfying $\lVert\mathbf{X}_T\mathbf{Y}_T^\top-\mathbf{A}\rVert_\mathrm{F}\leqε\lVert\mathbf{A}\rVert_\mathrm{F}$ in $T=O(κ^2\log\frac{1}ε)$ iterations with high probability, where $κ$ denotes the condition number of $\mathbf{A}$. Furthermore, we prove that Nesterov's accelerated gradient (NAG) attains an iteration complexity of $O(κ\log\frac{1}ε)$, which is the best-known bound of first-order methods for rectangular matrix factorization. Different from small balanced random initialization in the existing literature, we adopt an unbalanced initialization, where $\mathbf{X}_0$ is large and $\mathbf{Y}_0$ is $0$. Moreover, our initialization and analysis can be further extended to linear neural networks, where we prove that NAG can also attain an accelerated linear convergence rate. In particular, we only require the width of the network to be greater than or equal to the rank of the output label matrix. In contrast, previous results achieving the same rate require excessive widths that additionally depend on the condition number and the rank of the input data matrix.
