The ALPINE-CRISTAL-JWST Survey: NIRSpec IFU Data Processing and Spatially-resolved Views of Chemical Enrichment in Normal Galaxies at z=4-6

We present a statistical study of spatially resolved chemical enrichment in 18 main-sequence galaxies at $z=4$--6, observed with \jwst/NIRSpec IFU as part of the ALPINE-CRISTAL-\jwst\ survey. Performing an optimized reduction and calibration procedure, including local background subtraction, light-leakage masking, stripe removal, and astrometry refinement, we achieve robust emission-line mapping on kiloparsec scales. Although line-ratio distributions vary across galaxies in our sample, we generally find mild central enhancements in [O\,\textsc{iii}]/H$β$, [O\,\textsc{ii}]/[O\,\textsc{iii}], [S\,\textsc{ii}]$_{6732}$/[S\,\textsc{ii}]$_{6718}$, H$α$/H$β$, and $L_{\rm Hα}/L_{\rm UV}$, consistent with elevated electron density, dust obscuration, and bursty star formation accompanied by reduced metallicity and ionization parameter. These features point to inside-out growth fueled by recent inflows of pristine gas. Nevertheless, the median metallicity gradient is nearly flat over a few kpc scale, $Δ\log({\rm O/H}) = 0.02 \pm 0.01$ dex kpc$^{-1}$, implying efficient chemical mixing through inflows, outflows, and mergers. From pixel-by-pixel stellar and emission-line characterizations, we further investigate the resolved Fundamental Metallicity Relation (rFMR). Metallicity is described by a fundamental plane with stellar mass and SFR surface densities, but with a stronger dependence on $Σ_{\rm SFR}$ than seen in local galaxies. Our results indicate that the regulatory processes linking star formation, gas flows, and metal enrichment were already vigorous $\sim$1 Gyr after the Big Bang, producing the nearly flat metallicity gradient and a stronger coupling between star formation and metallicity than observed in evolved systems in the local universe.

On the Weight Spectrum of Rate-Compatible Polar Codes

The weight spectrum plays a crucial role in the performance of error-correcting codes. Despite substantial theoretical exploration of polar codes with mother code length, a framework for the weight spectrum of rate-compatible polar codes remains elusive. In this paper, we address this gap by presenting the theoretical results for enumerating the number of minimum-weight codewords for quasi-uniform punctured, Wang-Liu shortened, and bit-reversal shortened decreasing polar codes. Additionally, we propose efficient algorithms for computing the average spectrum of random upper-triangular pre-transformed shortened and punctured polar codes. Notably, our algorithms operate with polynomial complexity relative to the code length. Simulation results affirm that our findings yield a precise estimation of the performance of rate-compatible polar codes.

On-Demand Growth of Semiconductor Heterostructures Guided by Physics-Informed Machine Learning

Developing tailored semiconductor heterostructures on demand represents a critical capability for addressing the escalating performance demands in electronic and optoelectronic devices. However, traditional fabrication methods remain constrained by simulation-based design and iterative trial-and-error optimization. Here, we introduce SemiEpi, a self-driving platform designed for molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) to perform multi-step semiconductor heterostructure growth through in-situ monitoring and on-the-fly feedback control. By integrating standard MBE reactors, physics-informed machine learning (ML) models, and parameter initialization, SemiEpi identifies optimal initial conditions and proposes experiments for heterostructure growth, eliminating the need for extensive expertise in MBE processes. As a proof of concept, we demonstrate the optimization of high-density InAs quantum dot (QD) growth with a target emission wavelength of 1240 nm, showcasing the power of SemiEpi. We achieve a QD density of 5 x 10^10 cm^-2, a 1.6-fold increase in photoluminescence (PL) intensity, and a reduced full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 29.13 meV, leveraging in-situ reflective high-energy electron diffraction monitoring with feedback control for adjusting growth temperatures. Taken together, our results highlight the potential of ML-guided systems to address challenges in multi-step heterostructure growth, facilitate the development of a hardware-independent framework, and enhance process repeatability and stability, even without exhaustive knowledge of growth parameters.

Discovery of diffuse gamma-ray emission in the vicinity of G172.8+1.5: An old supernova remnant with different turbulence properties

We report the detection of high-energy $γ$-ray emission in the vicinity of G172.8+1.5, which is debated as a Supernova remnant (SNR) or an ionized hydrogen (H$_{\rm{II}}$) region. Using 16-yr Pass 8 data from Fermi Large Area Telescope (Fermi-LAT), we found the GeV emission can be described by two extended sources with different photon spectra. Among them, the much more extended $γ$-ray source SrcA with a Power-law spectrum is spatially coincident with a giant neutral Hydrogen shell structure and several OB stars inside a huge H$_{\rm{II}}$ region. The softer Log-Parabola spectra $γ$-ray source SrcB is spatially coincident with a star-forming region with several OB stars, maser sources and IR sources. Gas observation results display a dense molecular cloud surrounding SrcB in the velocity range of [-25,-5] km s$^{-1}$. The possible origins of $γ$-ray emission are discussed, including CRs escaped from SNR shock surface and illuminated nearby MC, the young massive star clusters associated with the star-forming region and a pulsar halo generated by an invisible energetic pulsar inside the SNR. Furthermore, under the hadronic scenario, the measured diffusion coefficient in the compact SrcB region is significantly lower than that of the more extended SrcA. This suppression is likely attributed to cosmic-ray-driven instabilities, which reduce the diffusion efficiency in the vicinity of the source relative to the standard conditions in the interstellar medium (ISM). Future advanced analysis from LHAASO observation results would help distinguish the origins of $γ$-ray emission in this region and clarify the nature of this source.

Preemptive Spatiotemporal Trajectory Adjustment for Heterogeneous Vehicles in Highway Merging Zones

Aiming at the problem of driver's perception lag and low utilization efficiency of space-time resources in expressway ramp confluence area, based on the preemptive spatiotemporal trajectory Adjustment system, from the perspective of coordinating spatiotemporal resources, the reasonable value of safe space-time distance in trajectory pre-preparation is quantitatively analyzed. The minimum safety gap required for ramp vehicles to merge into the mainline is analyzed by introducing double positioning error and spatiotemporal trajectory tracking error. A merging control strategy for autonomous driving heterogeneous vehicles is proposed, which integrates vehicle type, driving intention, and safety spatiotemporal distance. The specific confluence strategies of ramp target vehicles and mainline cooperative vehicles under different vehicle types are systematically expounded. A variety of traffic flow and speed scenarios are used for full combination simulation. By comparing the time-position-speed diagram, the vehicle operation characteristics and the dynamic difference of confluence are qualitatively analyzed, and the average speed and average delay are used as the evaluation indices to quantitatively evaluate the performance advantages of the preemptive cooperative confluence control strategy. The results show that the maximum average delay improvement rates of mainline and ramp vehicles are 90.24 % and 74.24 %, respectively. The proposed strategy can effectively avoid potential vehicle conflicts and emergency braking behaviors, improve driving safety in the confluence area, and show significant advantages in driving stability and overall traffic efficiency optimization.

High Clockrate Free-space Optical In-Memory Computing

The ability to process and act on data in real time is increasingly critical for applications ranging from autonomous vehicles, three-dimensional environmental sensing and remote robotics. However, the deployment of deep neural networks (DNNs) in edge devices is hindered by the lack of energy-efficient scalable computing hardware. Here, we introduce a fanout spatial time-of-flight optical neural network (FAST-ONN) that calculates billions of convolutions per second with ultralow latency and power consumption. This is enabled by the combination of high-speed dense arrays of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) for input modulation with spatial light modulators of high pixel counts for in-memory weighting. In a three-dimensional optical system, parallel differential readout allows signed weight values accurate inference in a single shot. The performance is benchmarked with feature extraction in You-Only-Look-Once (YOLO) for convolution at 100 million frames per second (MFPS), and in-system backward propagation training with photonic reprogrammability. The VCSEL transmitters are implementable in any free-space optical computing systems to improve the clockrate to over gigahertz. The high scalability in device counts and channel parallelism enables a new avenue to scale up free space computing hardware.

SBS: Enhancing Parameter-Efficiency of Neural Representations for Neural Networks via Spectral Bias Suppression

Implicit neural representations have recently been extended to represent convolutional neural network weights via neural representation for neural networks, offering promising parameter compression benefits. However, standard multi-layer perceptrons used in neural representation for neural networks exhibit a pronounced spectral bias, hampering their ability to reconstruct high-frequency details effectively. In this paper, we propose SBS, a parameter-efficient enhancement to neural representation for neural networks that suppresses spectral bias using two techniques: (1) a unidirectional ordering-based smoothing that improves kernel smoothness in the output space, and (2) unidirectional ordering-based smoothing aware random fourier features that adaptively modulate the frequency bandwidth of input encodings based on layer-wise parameter count. Extensive evaluations on various ResNet models with datasets CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, and ImageNet, demonstrate that SBS achieves significantly better reconstruction accuracy with less parameters compared to SOTA.

VehicleWorld: A Highly Integrated Multi-Device Environment for Intelligent Vehicle Interaction

Intelligent vehicle cockpits present unique challenges for API Agents, requiring coordination across tightly-coupled subsystems that exceed typical task environments' complexity. Traditional Function Calling (FC) approaches operate statelessly, requiring multiple exploratory calls to build environmental awareness before execution, leading to inefficiency and limited error recovery. We introduce VehicleWorld, the first comprehensive environment for the automotive domain, featuring 30 modules, 250 APIs, and 680 properties with fully executable implementations that provide real-time state information during agent execution. This environment enables precise evaluation of vehicle agent behaviors across diverse, challenging scenarios. Through systematic analysis, we discovered that direct state prediction outperforms function calling for environmental control. Building on this insight, we propose State-based Function Call (SFC), a novel approach that maintains explicit system state awareness and implements direct state transitions to achieve target conditions. Experimental results demonstrate that SFC significantly outperforms traditional FC approaches, achieving superior execution accuracy and reduced latency. We have made all implementation code publicly available on Github https://github.com/OpenMOSS/VehicleWorld.

Few-Shot Query Intent Detection via Relation-Aware Prompt Learning

Intent detection is a crucial component of modern conversational systems, since accurately identifying user intent at the beginning of a conversation is essential for generating effective responses. Recent efforts have focused on studying this problem under a challenging few-shot scenario. These approaches primarily leverage large-scale unlabeled dialogue text corpora to pretrain language models through various pretext tasks, followed by fine-tuning for intent detection with very limited annotations. Despite the improvements achieved, existing methods have predominantly focused on textual data, neglecting to effectively capture the crucial structural information inherent in conversational systems, such as the query-query relation and query-answer relation. To address this gap, we propose SAID, a novel framework that integrates both textual and relational structure information in a unified manner for model pretraining for the first time. Building on this framework, we further propose a novel mechanism, the query-adaptive attention network (QueryAdapt), which operates at the relation token level by generating intent-specific relation tokens from well-learned query-query and query-answer relations explicitly, enabling more fine-grained knowledge transfer. Extensive experimental results on two real-world datasets demonstrate that SAID significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods.

FedGraph: A Research Library and Benchmark for Federated Graph Learning

Federated graph learning is an emerging field with significant practical challenges. While algorithms have been proposed to improve the accuracy of training graph neural networks, such as node classification on federated graphs, the system performance is often overlooked, despite it is crucial for real-world deployment. To bridge this gap, we introduce FedGraph, a research library designed for practical distributed training and comprehensive benchmarking of FGL algorithms. FedGraph supports a range of state-of-the-art graph learning methods and includes a monitoring class that evaluates system performance, with a particular focus on communication and computation costs during training. Unlike existing federated learning platforms, FedGraph natively integrates homomorphic encryption to enhance privacy preservation and supports scalable deployment across multiple physical machines with system-level performance evaluation to guide the system design of future algorithms. To enhance efficiency and privacy, we propose a low-rank communication scheme for algorithms like FedGCN that require pre-training communication, accelerating both the pre-training and training phases. Extensive experiments benchmark FGL algorithms on three major graph learning tasks and demonstrate FedGraph as the first efficient FGL framework to support encrypted low-rank communication and scale to graphs with 100 million nodes.

Well-posedness and scattering of odd solutions for the defocusing INLS in one dimension

We consider the defocusing inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation $i\partial_tu+Δu= |x|^{-b}|u|^αu,$ where $0<b<1$ and $0<α<\infty$. This problem has been extensively studied for initial data in $H^1(\R^N)$ with $N\geq 2$. However, in the one-dimensional setting, due to the difficulty in dealing with the singularity factor $|x|^{-b}$, the well-posedness and scattering in $H^1(\R)$ are scarce, and almost known results have been established in $H^s(\R)$ with $s<1$. In this paper, we focus on the odd initial data in $H^1(\R)$. For this case, we establish local well-posedness for $0<α<\infty$, as well as global well-posedness and scattering for $4-2b<α<\infty$, which corresponds to the mass-supercritical case. The key ingredient is the application of the one-dimensional Hardy inequality for odd functions to overcome the singularity induced by $|x|^{-b}$. Our proof is based on the Strichartz estimates and employs the concentration-compactness/rigidity method developed by Kenig-Merle as well as the technique for handling initial data living far from the origin, as proposed by Miao-Murphy-Zheng. Our results fill a gap in the theory of well-posedness and energy scattering for the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation in one dimension.

Autonomous Aggregate Sorting in Construction and Mining via Computer Vision-Aided Robotic Arm Systems

Traditional aggregate sorting methods, whether manual or mechanical, often suffer from low precision, limited flexibility, and poor adaptability to diverse material properties such as size, shape, and lithology. To address these limitations, this study presents a computer vision-aided robotic arm system designed for autonomous aggregate sorting in construction and mining applications. The system integrates a six-degree-of-freedom robotic arm, a binocular stereo camera for 3D perception, and a ROS-based control framework. Core techniques include an attention-augmented YOLOv8 model for aggregate detection, stereo matching for 3D localization, Denavit-Hartenberg kinematic modeling for arm motion control, minimum enclosing rectangle analysis for size estimation, and hand-eye calibration for precise coordinate alignment. Experimental validation with four aggregate types achieved an average grasping and sorting success rate of 97.5%, with comparable classification accuracy. Remaining challenges include the reliable handling of small aggregates and texture-based misclassification. Overall, the proposed system demonstrates significant potential to enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, and improve safety in aggregate handling, while providing a scalable framework for advancing smart automation in construction, mining, and recycling industries.

Weak stability of the sum of two solitary waves for Half-wave equation

In this paper, we consider the subcritical half-wave equation in one dimension. Let $R_k(t,x)$, $k=1,2$, represent two-solitary wave solutions of the half-wave equation, each with different translations $x_1,x_2$. We prove that if the relative distance $x_2-x_1$ between the two solitary waves is large enough, then the sum of $R_k(t)$ is weakly stable. Our proof relies on an energy method and the local mass monotonicity property. Unlike the single-solitary wave or NLS cases, the interactions between different waves are significantly stronger here. To establish the local mass monotonicity property, as well as to analyze non-local effects on localization functions and non-local operator $D$, we utilize the Carlderón estimate and the integral representation formula of the half-wave operator.

Direct probe of magnetic field effects on phonons by ultrasound propagation in a quasi-two-dimensional honeycomb magnet Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$

We study the phonon behavior of a Co-based honeycomb frustrated magnet Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$ under magnetic field applied perpendicular to the honeycomb plane. The temperature and field dependence of the sound velocity and sound attenuation unveil prominent spin-lattice coupling in this material, promoting ultrasound as a sensitive probe for magnetic properties. An out-of-plane ferrimagnetic order is determined below the Néel temperature $T_N=27$~K. A comprehensive analysis of our data further supports a triple-Q ground state of Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$. Furthermore, the ultrasound data were systematically compared to the thermal transport results from literature, to unveil the importance of phononic contribution to the observed transport behaviors.

Quantization of blow-up masses for the Finsler $N$-Liouville equation

The quantization results for blow-up phenomena play crucial roles in the analysis of partial differential equations. Here we quantify the blow-up masses to the following Finsler $N$-Liouville equation $$-Q_{N}u_{n}=V_{n}e^{u_{n}}\quad\mbox{in}~ Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^{N}, N \ge 2.$$ Our study generalizes the classical result of Li-Shafrir [Indiana Univ. Math.J.,1994] for Liouville equation, Wang-Xia's work for anisotropic Liouville equation in $\mathbb{R}^2$ [JDE, 2012], and Esposito-Lucia's for the $N$-Laplacian case in $\mathbb{R}^N$ ($N \geq 3$) in their recent paper [CVPDE, 2024].

Discovery of diffuse $γ$-ray emission in the vicinity of G213.0-0.6: Supernova remnant versus massive star-forming region

We report the discovery of high-energy $γ$-ray emission in the vicinity of G213.0-0.6, which is debated as a supernova remnant (SNR) or an ionized hydrogen (H$_{\rm{II}}$) region. Using 16-yr Pass 8 data from Fermi Large Area Telescope (Fermi-LAT), we found three extended sources with different photon spectra in this region, which will label as SrcA, SrcB and SrcC. Among them, the $γ$-ray source SrcA with a log-parabola spectrum is spatially coincident with a star-forming region and several OB stars. The power-law spectra source SrcB is spatially coincident with a SNR radio shell. SrcC with a harder power-law photon spectrum is located outside of the radio shell structure. All of them are spatially coincident with a dense molecular cloud (MC) in the velocity range of 35 - 54 km s$^{-1}$. In this scenario, SrcB can be interpreted as the GeV counterpart of the SNR, and its $γ$-ray emission originates from the shock-cloud interaction. SrcA and SrcC originate from the escaped CRs illuminating nearby MC. For SrcA, another possibility is that the $γ$-ray emission originates from a young stellar cluster (YSC) associated with a star-forming region (SFR), however, the supporting evidence remains insufficient to draw a definitive conclusion.

Non-radial solutions for the critical quasi-linear Hénon equation involving $p$-Laplacian in $\R^N$

In this paper, we investigate the following $D^{1,p}$-critical quasi-linear Hénon equation involving $p$-Laplacian \begin{equation*}\label{00} \left\{ \begin{aligned} &-Δ_p u=|x|^αu^{p_\al^*-1}, & x\in \R^N, \\ &u>0, & x\in \R^N, \end{aligned} \right. \end{equation*} where $N\geq2$, $1 0$. By carefully studying the linearized problem and applying the approximation method and bifurcation theory, we prove that, when the parameter $\al$ takes the critical values $\al(k):=\frac{p\sqrt{(N+p-2)^2+4(k-1)(p-1)(k+N-1)}-p(N+p-2)}{2(p-1)}$ for $k\geq2$, the above quasi-linear Hénon equation admits non-radial solutions $u$ such that $u\sim |x|^{-\frac{N-p}{p-1}}$ and $|\nabla u|\sim |x|^{-\frac{N-1}{p-1}}$ at $\infty$. One should note that, $α(k)=2(k-1)$ for $k\geq2$ when $p=2$. Our results successfully extend the classical work of F. Gladiali, M. Grossi, and S. L. N. Neves in \cite{GGN} concerning the Laplace operator (i.e., the case $p=2$) to the more general setting of the nonlinear $p$-Laplace operator ($1<p<N$). We overcome a series of crucial difficulties, including the nonlinear feature of the $p$-Laplacian $Δ_p$, the absence of Kelvin type transforms and the lack of the Green integral representation formula.

Data Mixing Optimization for Supervised Fine-Tuning of Large Language Models

Optimizing data mixtures for supervised fine-tuning (SFT) of large language models (LLMs) is critical for developing general-purpose models, yet this area remains underexplored. In this paper, we frame data mixing as an optimization problem and introduce a novel method designed to minimize validation loss. Our approach parametrizes the loss by modeling effective data transferred and leveraging scaling laws for fine-tuning. By experimenting with various small-scale data mixtures, we fit these parameters and derive the optimal weights. We provide both mathematical proofs and empirical results demonstrating that our algorithm achieves excellent overall and individual performance across all domains. Through controlled experiments, we show that models trained with our optimized weights perform on par with those using optimal weights determined via grid search, with per-domain loss only 0.66% higher than the best domain loss from grid search on average. Additionally, we show that reweighting popular SFT datasets using our method improves both validation loss and downstream performance. Finally, we discuss how our method can generalize to guide data selection for domain-specific models and provide insights into SFT.
