Disorder-protected topological entropy after a quantum quench

Topological phases of matter are considered the bedrock of novel quantum materials as well as ideal candidates for quantum computers that possess robustness at the physical level. The robustness of the topological phase at finite temperature or away from equilibrium is therefore a very desirable feature. Disorder can improve the lifetime of the encoded topological qubits. Here we tackle the problem of the survival of the topological phase as detected by topological entropy, after a sudden quantum quench. We introduce a method to study analytically the time evolution of the system after a quantum quench and show that disorder in the couplings of the Hamiltonian of the toric code and the resulting Anderson localization can make the topological entropy resilient.

Constant scalar curvature equation and the regularity of its weak solution

In this paper we study constant scalar curvature equation (CSCK), a nonlinear fourth order elliptic equation, and its weak solutions on Kähler manifolds. We first define a notion of weak solution of CSCK for an $L^\infty$ Kähler metric. The main result is to show that such a weak solution (with uniform $L^\infty$ bound) is smooth. As an application, this answers in part a conjecture of Chen regarding the regularity of $K$-energy minimizers. The new technical ingredient is a $W^{2, 2}$ regularity result for the Laplacian equation $Δ_g u=f$ on Kähler manifolds, where the metric has only $L^\infty$ coefficients. It is well-known that such a $W^{2, 2}$ regularity ($W^{2, p}$ regularity for any $p>1$) fails in general (except for dimension two) for uniform elliptic equations of the form $a^{ij}\partial^2_{ij}u=f$ for $a^{ij}\in L^\infty$, without certain smallness assumptions on the local oscillation of $a^{ij}$. We observe that the Kähler condition plays an essential role to obtain a $W^{2, 2}$ regularity for elliptic equations with only $L^\infty$ elliptic coefficients on compact manifolds.

The Calabi flow with rough initial data

In this paper, we prove that there exists a dimensional constant $δ> 0$ such that given any background Kähler metric $ω$, the Calabi flow with initial data $u_0$ satisfying \begin{equation*} \partial \bar \partial u_0 \in L^\infty (M) \text{ and } (1- δ)ω< ω_{u_0} < (1+δ)ω, \end{equation*} admits a unique short time solution and it becomes smooth immediately, where $ω_{u_0} : = ω+\sqrt{-1}\partial \bar\partial u_0$. The existence time depends on initial data $u_0$ and the metric $ω$. As a corollary, we get that Calabi flow has short time existence for any initial data satisfying \begin{equation*} \partial \bar \partial u_0 \in C^0(M) \text{ and } ω_{u_0} > 0, \end{equation*} which should be interpreted as a "continuous Kähler metric". A main technical ingredient is Schauder-type estimates for biharmonic heat equation on Riemannian manifolds with time weighted Hölder norms.

Thermalization of Topological Entropy after a Quantum Quench

In two spatial dimensions, topological order is robust for static deformations at zero temperature, while it is fragile at any finite temperature. How robust is topological order after a quantum quench? In this paper we show that topological order thermalizes under the unitary evolution after a quantum quench. If the quench preserves gauge symmetry, there is a residual topological entropy exactly like in the finite temperature case. We obtain this result by studying the time evolution of the topological 2-Rényi entropy in a fully analytical, exact way. These techniques can be then applied to systems with strong disorder to show whether a many-body localization phenomenon appears in topologically ordered systems.

Removable singularities of the CscK metric

In this paper, we consider a CscK metric defined away from divisor and with metric upper bound and lower bound going to zero in certain rate. And we'll prove that this "nicely" behaved metric is a smooth CscK metric across the divisor.

Solution Transformations for GS String in AdS_5 x S^5 by Conserved Quantities

For Light-cone gauge of Green-Schwarz superstring in AdS_5 x S^5 background, we fix two bosonic variables x^{+}=τand y^{9}=σ, and then perform the partial Legendre transformation of the remaining bosonic variables. We then obtain a Lagrangian which is linear in velocity after eliminating the metric of world sheet. For such a system, one can formulate its poisson bracket and Hamiltonian. Since this system is free and without constraint, the hierarchy of infinite nonlocal conserved quantities given by Bena, Polchinski and Roiban, induce solution transformations due to Jacobi identity.
