Perturbation of the largest matching root of hypergraphs

The largest matching root of a $k$-graph is the largest real root of its matching polynomial, which is equal to the maximum modulus of all the zeros of the matching polynomial. In this paper, we investigate the perturbation of the largest matching root of $k$-graphs. We determine all $k$-graphs whose largest matching root attains the maximum among all $k$-cacti and linear $k$-cacti with a given number of cycles and edges, where a $k$-cactus is a $k$-graph in which every two distinct cycles have at most one vertex in common. To achieve this, we prove that the celebrated shifting operation of $k$-graphs, introduced by Erdős, Ko and Rado, does not decrease the largest matching root. This result extends a classical result by Csikvári (Electron. J. Combin. {\bf 18} (2011) $\#$P182) stating that the Kelmans transformation does not decrease the largest matching root of graphs.

FU-MPC: Frontier- and Uncertainty-Aware Model Predictive Control for Efficient and Accurate UAV Exploration with Motorized LiDAR

Efficient UAV exploration in unknown environments requires rapid coverage expansion while maintaining accurate and reliable localization, since safe navigation in complex scenes depends on consistent mapping and pose estimation. However, for conventional LiDAR-equipped UAVs, the observable region is tightly coupled with the UAV pose and motion. Expanding coverage often requires additional translational or rotational maneuvers, which can reduce exploration efficiency and increase the risk of localization degradation in geometrically challenging environments. Motorized rotating LiDARs provide a promising solution by actively adjusting the sensor viewing direction without changing the UAV motion, thereby introducing an additional sensing degree of freedom. Nevertheless, existing exploration systems rarely exploit this scanning freedom as an explicit decision variable linked to both exploration progress and localization quality. To address this gap, we develop a UAV platform equipped with an independently actuated rotating LiDAR and propose a hierarchical exploration framework. The global planner organizes frontiers into representative viewpoints and sequences them using topology-aware transition costs. Built upon this planner, FU-MPC serves as a local receding-horizon scan controller that optimizes LiDAR rotation along the predicted flight trajectory. The controller jointly considers frontier-aware exploration utility and direction-dependent localization uncertainty, while lightweight surrogate evaluation enables real-time onboard execution. Experiments in complex environments demonstrate that the proposed system improves exploration efficiency while maintaining robust localization performance compared with fixed-pattern scanning and uncertainty-only baselines. Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 Technical Report

We present Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0, a suite of high-compression Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) that achieve significant advances in both reconstruction fidelity and diffusability. To address the reconstruction bottlenecks of high compression, we adopt an improved architecture featuring Global Skip Connections (GSC) and expanded latent channels. Moreover, we scale training to billions of images and incorporate a synthetic rendering engine to improve performance in text-rich scenarios. To tackle the convergence challenges of high-dimensional latent space, we implement an enhanced semantic alignment strategy to make the latent space highly amenable to diffusion modeling. To optimize computational efficiency, we leverage an asymmetric and attention-free encoder-decoder backbone to minimize encoding overhead. We present a comprehensive evaluation of Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 on public reconstruction benchmarks. To evaluate performance in text-rich scenarios, we propose OmniDoc-TokenBench, a new benchmark comprising a diverse collection of real-world documents coupled with specialized OCR-based evaluation metrics. Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction performance, demonstrating exceptional capabilities in both general domains and text-rich scenarios at high compression ratio. Furthermore, downstream DiT experiments reveal our models possess superior diffusability, significantly accelerating convergence compared to existing high-compression baselines. These establish Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 as a leading model with high compression, superior reconstruction, and exceptional diffusability.

Helmholzian Spectra of Graphs: Novel Properties

Let $\grad$, $\curl$, and $\dv$ be the graph-theoretic analogues of the gradient, curl, and divergence operators from multivariate calculus. The graph Laplacian $-\dv \grad$ gives rise to the celebrated Laplacian matrix, while the matrix representation of the graph Helmholtzian $\grad \grad^* + \curl^* \curl$ is called the Helmholtzian matrix. In this paper, we present a new graph-theoretic proof that the Helmholtzian matrix indeed represents the graph Helmholtzian. We then investigate the spectral properties of this matrix. Our main results are as follows: (i) a classification of graphs having exactly two distinct Helmholtzian eigenvalues; (ii) the nullity of the Helmholtzian matrix; and (iii) a combinatorial interpretation of the coefficients of the Helmholtzian polynomial. Furthermore, we determine the Helmholtzian spectrum for certain graph products and characterize Helmholtzian integral graphs, as well as derive bounds for the smallest Helmholtzian eigenvalue. Meanwhile, we pose some open problems for future research.

When Backdoors Meet Partial Observability: Attacking Real-World Reinforcement Learning

Backdoor attacks can cause reinforcement learning (RL) policies to behave normally under clean inputs while executing malicious behaviors when triggers are present. Existing RL backdoor attacks are primarily studied in simulation and often assume that attackers can reliably manipulate the observations driving policy decisions. This assumption becomes fragile in real-world deployment, where RL policies commonly rely on multimodal observations. Attackers can manipulate visual inputs through physical triggers, but auxiliary states such as LiDAR and odometry signals remain uncontrollable and vary across trajectories. We study this overlooked challenge and propose a diffusion-guided backdoor attack framework (DGBA) for real-world RL. DGBA uses small printable visual patches as triggers and learns a stochastic trigger distribution via conditional diffusion to maintain consistent attack activation under varying uncontrollable states. We further introduce an advantage-based poisoning strategy that injects triggers only at decision-critical training states. Experiments on a physical TurtleBot3 platform show that DGBA consistently outperforms prior RL backdoor attacks while preserving normal task performance. Demo videos and code are available in the supplementary material.

An investigation of magnetic energy and helicity thresholds at the onset of solar eruptions based on numerical simulations

Identifying universal, topology-independent thresholds in the coronal magnetic fields at onset of solar eruptions is crucial for physics-based prediction of eruptions. To this end, we systematically analyze the evolution of magnetic energy and helicity in twelve high-fidelity 3D magnetohydrodynamic simulations where eruptions are triggered by magnetic reconnection. The simulations encompass a comprehensive parameter space, including bipolar and quadrupolar configurations, sheared arcades and pre-existing flux ropes, and various photospheric driving motions. We find that the ratio of current-carrying helicity to total relative helicity $(H_j/H_r)$ exhibits a remarkably consistent threshold of $0.38 \pm 0.04$ at eruption onset across all cases, with a coefficient of variation of only $\sim 10$\%. This threshold specifically characterizes the critical conditions at eruption onset and is largely independent of the subsequent temporal evolution, making it the most robust eruptivity indicator identified. In contrast, other normalized helicity and energy metrics show greater scatter. Crucially, we further find that $H_j/H_r$ does not necessarily achieve its peak at the eruption onset time and its post-eruption evolution diverges based on magnetic topology: it continues to increase in bipolar configurations due to tether-cutting reconnection, which transforms sheared arcade into the erupting current-carrying magnetic flux, but decreases in quadrupolar configurations as breakout reconnection peels off the erupting flux. These results highlight the helicity ratio as a promising and consistent eruptivity indicator and provide new insights into its dynamic evolution due to different reconnections.

Spectral Vision Transformer for Efficient Tokenization with Limited Data

We propose a novel spectral vision transformer architecture for efficient tokenization in limited data, with an emphasis on medical imaging. We outline convenient theoretical properties arising from the choice of basis including spatial invariance and optimal signal-to-noise ratio. We show reduced complexity arising from the spectral projection compared to spatial vision transformers. We show equitable or superior performance with a reduced number of parameters as compared to a variety of models including compact and standard vision transformers, convolutional neural networks with attention, shifted window transformers, multi-layer perceptrons, and logistic regression. We include simulated, public, and clinical data in our analysis and release our code at: \verb+github.com/agr78/spectralViT+.

Precision Tracked Transformer via Kalman Filtering, Kriging and Process Noise

The Transformer is the foundational building block of modern AI, yet offers no principled handling of \emph{uncertainty}, which is prevalent in real applications: cold-start tokens with sparse histories in sequential recommendation, heterogeneous signal quality in language models, and attention sinks induced by unconstrained softmax. Every token is treated with uniform confidence. We show this uniformity is a degenerate case of our \emph{Bayesian Filtering Transformer} (BFT): attention becomes precision-weighted kriging, the residual connection becomes a Kalman update with adaptive gain, and the FFN becomes a dynamics model propagating precision via a Jacobian--plus--process-noise rule. Observation precision comes from a parameter-free Restricted Maximum Likelihood (REML) estimator with a conjugate Bayesian prior. BFT replaces any Transformer layer with negligible overhead. On sequential recommendation, BFT applied to three major architectures yields significant gains on six benchmarks, with the largest improvements on cold-start users and rare items where uncertainty is highest. On supervised fine-tuning of large language models with noisy data, BFT improves robustness in two regimes: noisy supervision (token-label corruption in question answering) and noisy context (retrieval-augmented QA with real RAG distractors). A single principled modification -- restoring precision -- unlocks substantial headroom across both classical sequence-modeling and modern LLM regimes.

GPO-V: Jailbreak Diffusion Vision Language Model by Global Probability Optimization

Diffusion Vision-Language Models (dVLMs), built upon the non-causal foundations of Diffusion Large Language Models (dLLMs), have demonstrated remarkable efficacy in multimodal tasks by departing from the traditional autoregressive generation paradigm. While dVLMs appear inherently robust against conventional jailbreak tactics, which we categorize as Fixed Prefix Optimization (FPO) (e.g., anchoring responses with "Sure, here is"), this perceived resilience is deceptive. Our investigation into the safety landscape of dVLMs reveals a unique refusal pattern: Immediate Refusal and Progressive Refusal. We find that while FPO-based attacks often fail by triggering the latter, the progressive refinement process itself uncovers a novel, latent attack surface. To exploit this vulnerability, we propose Global Probability Optimization (GPO), a general jailbreak paradigm designed specifically for the denoising trajectory of masked diffusion models. Unlike prefix-based methods, GPO manipulates the global generative dynamics to bypass guardrails in diffusion language models. Building on this, we introduce GPO-V, the first visual-modality jailbreak framework tailored for dVLMs. Empirical results demonstrate that GPO-V produces stealthy perturbations with exceptional cross-model transferability, revealing a critical security gap in non-sequential generative architectures. Our findings underscore the critical urgency of addressing safety alignment in dVLMs. These results necessitate an immediate and fundamental re-evaluation of current defense paradigms to mitigate the unique risks of diffusion-based generation. Qwen-Image-2.0 Technical Report

We present Qwen-Image-2.0, an omni-capable image generation foundation model that unifies high-fidelity generation and precise image editing within a single framework. Despite recent progress, existing models still struggle with ultra-long text rendering, multilingual typography, high-resolution photorealism, robust instruction following, and efficient deployment, especially in text-rich and compositionally complex scenarios. Qwen-Image-2.0 addresses these challenges by coupling Qwen3-VL as the condition encoder with a Multimodal Diffusion Transformer for joint condition-target modeling, supported by large-scale data curation and a customized multi-stage training pipeline. This enables strong multimodal understanding while preserving flexible generation and editing capabilities. The model supports instructions of up to 1K tokens for generating text-rich content such as slides, posters, infographics, and comics, while significantly improving multilingual text fidelity and typography. It also enhances photorealistic generation with richer details, more realistic textures, and coherent lighting, and follows complex prompts more reliably across diverse styles. Extensive human evaluations show that Qwen-Image-2.0 substantially outperforms previous Qwen-Image models in both generation and editing, marking a step toward more general, reliable, and practical image generation foundation models.

Weighted Rules under the Stable Model Semantics

We introduce the concept of weighted rules under the stable model semantics following the log-linear models of Markov Logic. This provides versatile methods to overcome the deterministic nature of the stable model semantics, such as resolving inconsistencies in answer set programs, ranking stable models, associating probability to stable models, and applying statistical inference to computing weighted stable models. We also present formal comparisons with related formalisms, such as answer set programs, Markov Logic, ProbLog, and P-log.

LLM-Agnostic Semantic Representation Attack

Large Language Models (LLMs) increasingly employ alignment techniques to prevent harmful outputs. Despite these safeguards, attackers can circumvent them by crafting adversarial prompts. Predominant token-level optimization methods primarily rely on optimizing for exact affirmative templates (e.g., ``\textit{Sure, here is...}''). However, these paradigms frequently encounter bottlenecks such as suboptimal convergence, compromised prompt naturalness, and poor cross-model generalization. To address these limitations, we propose Semantic Representation Attack (SRA), a novel LLM-agnostic paradigm that fundamentally reconceptualizes adversarial objectives from exact textual targeting to malicious semantic representations. Theoretically, we establish the semantic Coherence-Convergence Relationship and derive a Cross-Model Semantic Generalization bound, proving that maintaining semantic coherence guarantees both white-box semantic convergence and black-box transferability. Technically, we operationalize this framework via the Semantic Representation Heuristic Search (SRHS) algorithm, which preserves interpretability and structural coherence of the adversarial prompts during incremental discrete token chunk expansion. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that our framework achieves a 99.71% average attack success rate across 26 open-source LLMs, with strong transferability and stealth.

Modeling of Coronal Mass Ejection Originated from a Sheared Arcade of Realistic Active-Region Scale and Its Propagation in the Heliosphere: Methodology

Simulating coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from their origin in active regions (ARs) to their propagation to Earth remains challenging, particularly when aiming to resolve AR scales and employ realistic magnetic field strengths without compromising computational efficiency. Here we present a methodology for end-to-end CME modeling that addresses these challenges. Three nested magnetohydrodynamic simulations are coupled to jointly cover the heliosphere from solar surface to beyond $1.5$ au. A block-structured adaptive mesh refinement scheme is employed to achieve $\sim 700$ km resolution in the low corona, allowing AR scales to be resolved while maintaining the total grid count below $10^8$ across the entire computational domain. A semi-relativistic Boris correction combined with a relativistic mass-density factor is used to handle magnetic field strengths up to $10^3$ G without prohibitively small time steps. Using this model, we simulate the emergence of a bipolar AR into the corona, the initiation of a CME by shearing of the AR core field and the subsequent evolution. Our simulation captures its pre-eruption energy buildup, triggering by magnetic reconnection, rapid acceleration, and propagation to 1 au and beyond. The simulated CME exhibits a three-part structure in synthetic coronagraph images and a torus-shaped flux rope in the heliosphere, with synthetic in-situ observations showing shock formation, density compression, and a prolonged southward $B_z$ component at 1 au. The entire simulation requires about one day on a moderately sized cluster (e.g., $600$ processors), while the simulated CME takes three days to arrive at $1$ au, offering a lead time of two days if used for forecasting.

When Descent Is Too Stable: Event-Triggered Hamiltonian Learning to Optimize

Fixed-budget nonconvex optimization can fail not because local descent is unstable, but because it is too stable: after reaching a nearby stationary point, an optimizer may spend the remaining evaluations refining an uninformative local minimum. We formulate this failure mode as a control problem over optimizer dynamics, where the learner must decide when to descend, when to exploit a promising basin, and when stagnation should trigger movement elsewhere. We introduce SHAPE, a structured adaptive port-Hamiltonian task-family optimizer for event-triggered minima hunting under local information. Starting from gradient-descent dynamics, SHAPE lifts optimization to an augmented phase space $(q, p)$, where the primal state $q$ represents the candidate solution, the cotangent variable $p$ carries directional sensitivity, and a controller $u$ provides processed information from current gradient oracle. Within each stage, a learned Hamiltonian vector field induces structured local descent; across stages, a fixed event clock in the implementation updates ports and memory when local equilibria are detected, with stage-dependent horizons treated in the analysis as a direct generalization. This design preserves a passivity-compatible structure while allowing the same trained policy to use clean, stochastic, or estimated gradient inputs. Experiments on fixed-budget nonconvex optimization tasks show that SHAPE improves best-so-far performance compared with fixed-policy optimizers. These results suggest that adaptive Hamiltonian energy shaping provides a principled mechanism for balancing descent, exploration, and budget allocation in difficult optimization landscapes.

Learning Material-Aware Hamiltonian Risk Fields for Safe Navigation

Risk-aware navigation should be selective: a policy should expose evasive degrees of freedom only when the local scene admits a lower-risk feasible maneuver, and suppress them when no safer alternative exists. We show that adding one context-energy term to a port-Hamiltonian navigation policy produces a learned force channel with exactly this falsifiable signature. When the local risk field contains a feasible lower-risk direction, the induced context force activates toward it; when the apparent escape is blocked or not yet available, a route-aware gate suppresses lateral force rather than hallucinating an unsafe maneuver. A CVaR tail-risk objective focuses gradient updates on rare but consequential risk transitions. We validate the selectivity signature across four settings. In the primary delayed-required-escape benchmark, route-aware CVaR reduces premature force activation from 0.950 to 0.180 versus DWA while raising success from 0.480 to 0.810 with zero replans. On real off-road terrain (RELLIS-3D), route-aware enrichment achieves correct activation rate 0.837 and false activation rate 0.114, compared to 0.378/0.752 for scalar risk gradients. On static semantic maps (DFC2018), enrichment reduces catastrophic failure from 0.60 to 0.10 and oscillation by 90.7% while preserving path efficiency. In highway traffic, collisions drop from 100% to 0% when a lane escape is feasible; when no escape exists, the policy suppresses the lateral maneuver. The selectivity property follows from the gradient structure of the context energy rather than from training-time tuning.

Stationary States for Fermions in an External Electric Field

We present a relativistic analysis of fermions in an external electric field by non-perturbatively solving the Dirac equation with a static gauge. Different from the magnetic field effect, the fermion wave function in an electric field oscillates asymptotically, which results in the absence of bound states in an infinite system. For a confined fermion, the confinement is gradually canceled by the electric field, and the fermion becomes deconfined when the electric coupling is stronger than the confinement coupling. However, a fermion in an electric field can be confined to a finite system by applying the MIT bag boundary condition, namely, the disappearing normal component of the probability current at the boundary. The solutions obtained can serve as a basis for calculating dynamical processes in the presence of a strong electric field, such as those occurring in the early stage of relativistic heavy-ion collisions, where an extremely strong electric field is expected to be generated.

Giant orbital-magnon conversion driven perpendicular magnetization switching

The pursuit of beyond-Moore information technologies has stimulated the exploration of novel information carriers, such as electron spin, orbital, and magnon, beyond electron charge. Efficient interconversion among these degrees of freedom and precise control over the information states are crucial for advancing nanoelectronic devices. However, a direct coupling between orbital angular momentum (L) and magnons (M) has remained elusive, and magnetization switching through orbital-to-magnon (L-M) conversion has not yet been achieved. Here, we report the experimental demonstration of L-M conversion in an orbital metal/antiferromagnetic insulator bilayer at room temperature, with an efficiency over an order of magnitude higher than that in traditional orbital systems lacking the L-M process. Consequently, we achieved efficient room-temperature perpendicular magnetization switching in a CoFeB ferromagnetic layer mediated by this new mechanism. Our findings establish a direct link between orbitronics and magnonics, providing a new platform for the development of advanced nano-devices based on orbital-driven magnonic phenomena.

Nonlinear Landau damping for the two-species screened Vlasov-Poisson system with large initial distributions

We investigate nonlinear Landau damping for the two-species screened Vlasov-Poisson system with large initial distributions on the phase space $\mathbb{R}^d \times \mathbb{R}^d$ (where $d \geq 3$). Under a structural quasi-neutrality condition, we establish the existence and uniqueness of global strong solutions to the two-species system with arbitrarily large initial distributions. Furthermore, we prove the time-asymptotic stability of Penrose-stable equilibria and establish the optimal decay rate $t^{-d}$ for the net charge density, thereby verifying the nonlinear Landau damping effect for the two-species screened Vlasov-Poisson system in the whole space. To the best of our knowledge, this represents the first result on Landau damping for the two-species Vlasov-Poisson system with large initial distributions that are significantly far from equilibrium.
