Joint-Conditioned Stereo Surface Reasoning for Interaction Field Estimation

Predicting hand--object interaction fields requires locating the nearest object-surface point for each hand joint, often from small and partially occluded image regions. We view this task as joint-conditioned surface-endpoint estimation: each joint has its own nearest endpoint, while endpoints from the same hand can draw on shared local surface evidence. This structure motivates Joint-Conditioned Stereo Surface Reasoning (JSSR). A temporal-stereo network jointly predicts 3D joints, a direct interaction field, and per-view endpoint evidence. Calibrated candidate search evaluates endpoint hypotheses using joint-specific image compatibility and cross-view correspondence. A hand-shared candidate support lets joints draw on common surface evidence, and a learned residual gate controls the geometric correction when observations are ambiguous. Our system built on this method ranked third on the SHOW3D Interaction Field Challenge leaderboard.

MFE-GAN: Efficient GAN-based Framework for Document Image Enhancement and Binarization with Multi-scale Feature Extraction

Document image enhancement and binarization are commonly performed prior to document analysis and recognition tasks for improving the efficiency and accuracy of optical character recognition (OCR) systems. This is because directly recognizing text in degraded documents, particularly in color images, often results in unsatisfactory recognition performance. To address these issues, existing methods train independent generative adversarial networks (GANs) for different color channels to remove shadows and noise, which, in turn, facilitates efficient text information extraction. However, deploying multiple GANs results in long training and inference times. To reduce both training and inference times of document image enhancement and binarization models, we propose MFE-GAN, an efficient GAN-based framework with multi-scale feature extraction (MFE), which incorporates Haar wavelet transformation (HWT) and normalization to process document images before feeding them into GANs for training. In addition, we present novel generators, discriminators, and loss functions to improve the model's performance, and we conduct ablation studies to demonstrate their effectiveness. Experimental results on the Benchmark, Nabuco, and CMATERdb datasets demonstrate that the proposed MFE-GAN significantly reduces the total training and inference times while maintaining comparable performance with respect to state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods. TranSplat: Instant Object Relighting in Gaussian Splatting via Spherical Harmonic Radiance Transfer

We present TranSplat, a method for instant, accurate object relighting within the Gaussian Splatting (GS) framework. Rather than relying on costly inverse rendering routines, we propose a BRDF-free radiance transfer strategy that analytically modulates the spherical harmonic (SH) appearance coefficients of an object's 2D Gaussian surfels using per-normal irradiance ratios derived from source and target environment maps. To handle view-dependent and glossy appearances without explicit material estimation, we introduce a specularity-aware dual-path SH transfer strategy that adapts higher-order SH bands in the reflection domain. Additionally, we propose a lightweight SH-domain self-shadowing module to ensure physically realistic occlusion without explicit mesh raycasting. Operating as a post-processing step, TranSplat requires no additional GS retraining for a pair of source and target scenes. Evaluations on synthetic and real-world objects demonstrate state-of-the-art accuracy, outperforming recent inverse-rendering and diffusion-based GS relighting methods across most conditions, all while completing relighting operations in under one second. Although bounded by radially symmetric BRDF approximations and the low-pass nature of the SH basis, TranSplat produces perceptually realistic renderings even for glossy, complex materials, establishing a valuable, lightweight path forward for GS relighting.

ORB-SfMLearner: ORB-Guided Self-supervised Visual Odometry with Selective Online Adaptation

Deep visual odometry, despite extensive research, still faces limitations in accuracy and generalizability that prevent its broader application. To address these challenges, we propose an Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF (ORB)-guided visual odometry with selective online adaptation named ORB-SfMLearner. We present a novel use of ORB features for learning-based ego-motion estimation, leading to more robust and accurate results. We also introduce the cross-attention mechanism to enhance the explainability of PoseNet and have revealed that driving direction of the vehicle can be explained through the attention weights. To improve generalizability, our selective online adaptation allows the network to rapidly and selectively adjust to the optimal parameters across different domains. Experimental results on KITTI and vKITTI datasets show that our method outperforms previous state-of-the-art deep visual odometry methods in terms of ego-motion accuracy and generalizability. ToDER: Towards Colonoscopy Depth Estimation and Reconstruction with Geometry Constraint Adaptation

Visualizing colonoscopy is crucial for medical auxiliary diagnosis to prevent undetected polyps in areas that are not fully observed. Traditional feature-based and depth-based reconstruction approaches usually end up with undesirable results due to incorrect point matching or imprecise depth estimation in realistic colonoscopy videos. Modern deep-based methods often require a sufficient number of ground truth samples, which are generally hard to obtain in optical colonoscopy. To address this issue, self-supervised and domain adaptation methods have been explored. However, these methods neglect geometry constraints and exhibit lower accuracy in predicting detailed depth. We thus propose a novel reconstruction pipeline with a bi-directional adaptation architecture named ToDER to get precise depth estimations. Furthermore, we carefully design a TNet module in our adaptation architecture to yield geometry constraints and obtain better depth quality. Estimated depth is finally utilized to reconstruct a reliable colon model for visualization. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach can precisely predict depth maps in both realistic and synthetic colonoscopy videos compared with other self-supervised and domain adaptation methods. Our method on realistic colonoscopy also shows the great potential for visualizing unobserved regions and preventing misdiagnoses.

Three-stage binarization of color document images based on discrete wavelet transform and generative adversarial networks

The efficient extraction of text information from the background in degraded color document images is an important challenge in the preservation of ancient manuscripts. The imperfect preservation of ancient manuscripts has led to different types of degradation over time, such as page yellowing, staining, and ink bleeding, seriously affecting the results of document image binarization. This work proposes an effective three-stage network method to image enhancement and binarization of degraded documents using generative adversarial networks (GANs). Specifically, in Stage-1, we first split the input images into multiple patches, and then split these patches into four single-channel patch images (gray, red, green, and blue). Then, three single-channel patch images (red, green, and blue) are processed by the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) with normalization. In Stage-2, we use four independent generators to separately train GAN models based on the four channels on the processed patch images to extract color foreground information. Finally, in Stage-3, we train two independent GAN models on the outputs of Stage-2 and the resized original input images (512x512) as the local and global predictions to obtain the final outputs. The experimental results show that the Avg-Score metrics of the proposed method are 77.64, 77.95, 79.05, 76.38, 75.34, and 77.00 on the (H)-DIBCO 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018 datasets, which are at the state-of-the-art level.
