Arithmetic product theorems on self-similar sets of uniqueness and homogeneous Moran sets

Varjú and Yu have given a complete description of non-singleton self-similar sets of uniqueness on the real line $\mathbb R$. In this paper, we first prove an arithmetic product theorem for self-similar $U$-sets $E:$ if $F\subset\mathbb R$ is compact, then $F\cdot E$ is an $M_0$-set if and only if $F$ is uncountable. We next show that this conclusion remains valid for bounded integer-based homogeneous Moran sets. As an application, for every $s\in(0,1]$, there exists a bounded integer-based homogeneous Moran set of uniqueness $K$ such that $\dim_H K=s$ and the self-product $K\cdot K$ is an $M_0$-set. In sharp contrast, for every $s\in[0,1/2]$ we can construct an unbounded integer-based homogeneous Moran $U$-set $E$ with $\dim_H E=s$ such that both $E$ and $E\cdot E$ are $U$-sets, and $1/2$ is the optimal threshold for $U$-sets to be closed under the arithmetic self-product. Moreover, we show that if $E\subset[0,1]$ is a compact set whose self-product $E\cdot E$ is contained in an $H$-set, then $\underline\dim_B E\le1/2$.

Characterization on spectra of self-similar measures and the dual spectral set conjecture

A discrete set $Λ$ is called a {\it spectrum} of a Borel probability measure $μ$ if the exponential functions $\{e^{2πi \langleλ, x\rangle}:λ\inΛ\}$ form an orthonormal basis for $L^2(μ)$. In this work, we first give necessary and sufficient conditions for a self-replicating translation set to be a spectrum of the self-similar measure associated with a product-form Hadamard triple, which were discovered by the first-named author and Lai [Adv. Math. 431 (2023) Paper No.109257]. These results extend the studies by Łaba and Wang [J. Funct. Anal. 193 (2002) 409-420], Dutkay and Lai [J. Math. Pures Appl. 107 (2017) 183-204] in $\mathbb R$. As an application, we can explicitly construct such a self-replicating spectrum. Finally, we prove that the dual spectral set conjecture holds for a self-replicating translation set.

Spectral Eigen-subspace and Tree Structure for a Cantor Measure

In this work we investigate the question of constructions of the possible Fourier bases $E(Λ)=\{e^{2πi λx}:λ\inΛ\}$ for the Hilbert space $L^2(μ_4)$, where $μ_4$ is the standard middle-fourth Cantor measure and $Λ$ is a countable discrete set. We show that the set $$\mathop \bigcap_{p\in 2\Z+1}\left\{Λ\subset \R: \text{$E(Λ)$ and $E(pΛ)$ are Fourier bases for $L^2(μ_4)$}\right\}$$ has the cardinality of the continuum. We also give other characterizations on the orthonormal set of exponential functions being a basis for the space $L^2(μ_4)$ from the viewpoint of measure and dimension. Moreover, we provide a method of constructing explicit discrete set $Λ$ such that $E(Λ)$ and its all odd scaling sets $E(Λ),p\in2\Z+1,$ are still Fourier bases for $L^2(μ_4)$.
