Deeply Interleaved Text-Image Contexts for Multimodal LLMs Assessment

Current evaluations and training of multimodal models predominantly focus on multi-image tasks, largely overlooking interleaved text-image scenarios. In such multi-image tasks, text typically serves merely as task instructions, lacking deep semantic interaction with the visual content. In contrast, realworld applications like text-image co-creation, character tracking, and spatial reconstruction require constant interaction between text and images. Consequently, models must possess a deep understanding of these interleaved contexts. To bridge this gap, we introduce a novel benchmark, TIC-Bench (deeply interleaved Text-Image Contexts), designed to evaluate the capability of models to integrate text-image clues and recover the ground truth facts within deeply interleaved contexts. This benchmark encompasses three core domains: Logical, Temporal, and Spatial Association, which are further categorized into eight specific types, comprising a total of 2,280 questions. We evaluated 10 state-of-the-art MLLMs and observed a substantial performance gap compared to human experts, together with persistent difficulties in integrating evidence distributed across interleaved visual and textual inputs. Ultimately, this benchmark provides a valuable analytical tool for assessing and advancing the ability of multimodal models to effectively integrate text and image information in deeply interleaved contexts. MetaPoint: Unlocking Precise Spatial Control in Agentic Visual Generation

Generative visual models fundamentally struggle with precise spatial control. This arises from a core disconnect: models can process textual descriptions of space but cannot directly map numerical coordinates onto the 2D image canvas. We introduce MetaPoint, a method that bridges this gap by representing a continuous 2D coordinate as a single, special token. Crucially, MetaPoint requires no new architectural components; it directly leverages the model's inherent positional encoding schemes to interpret these coordinates, treating our token as a virtual point on the canvas. This lightweight approach enables pixel-level control of an object's position with one token or its bounding box with two, all without requiring architectural changes or bespoke attention masking. The MetaPoint tokens are designed to be compositional, serving as spatial primitives. This allows a planner agent to decompose a high-level user request into a structured sequence of primitives for the generator. By providing a simple, precise, and scalable building block for spatial control, MetaPoint unlocks more powerful compositional generative agents and enables intuitive, interactive editing systems.

Images in Sentences: Scaling Interleaved Instructions for Unified Visual Generation

While recent advancements in multimodal language models have enabled image generation from expressive multi-image instructions, existing methods struggle to maintain performance under complex interleaved instructions. This limitation stems from the structural separation of images and text in current paradigms, which forces models to bridge difficult long-range dependencies to match descriptions with visual targets. To address these challenges, we propose \texttt{I}mages i\texttt{N} \texttt{SE}n\texttt{T}ences (\textit{a.k.a}, INSET), a unified generation model that seamlessly embeds images as native vocabulary within textual instructions. By positioning visual features directly at their corresponding semantic slots, INSET leverages the contextual locality of transformers for precise object binding, effectively treating images as dense, expressive language tokens. Furthermore, we introduce a scalable data engine that synthesizes 15M high-quality interleaved samples from standard image and video datasets, utilizing VLMs and LLMs to construct rich, long-horizon sequences. Evaluation results on InterleaveBench demonstrate that INSET significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in multi-image consistency and text alignment, with performance gaps widening as input complexity increases. Beyond standard generation, our approach inherently extends to multimodal image editing, integrating visual content as part of the instruction to facilitate highly expressive and creative visual manipulations.

ScrollScape: Unlocking 32K Image Generation With Video Diffusion Priors

While diffusion models excel at generating images with conventional dimensions, pushing them to synthesize ultra-high-resolution imagery at extreme aspect ratios (EAR) often triggers catastrophic structural failures, such as object repetition and spatial fragmentation. This limitation fundamentally stems from a lack of robust spatial priors, as static text-to-image models are primarily trained on image distributions with conventional dimensions. To overcome this bottleneck, we present ScrollScape, a novel framework that reformulates EAR image synthesis into a continuous video generation process through two core innovations. By mapping the spatial expansion of a massive canvas to the temporal evolution of video frames, ScrollScape leverages the inherent temporal consistency of video models as a powerful global constraint to ensure long-range structural integrity. Specifically, Scanning Positional Encoding (ScanPE) distributes global coordinates across frames to act as a flexible moving camera, while Scrolling Super-Resolution (ScrollSR) leverages video super-resolution priors to circumvent memory bottlenecks, efficiently scaling outputs to an unprecedented 32K resolution. Fine-tuned on a curated 3K multi-ratio image dataset, ScrollScape effectively aligns pre-trained video priors with the EAR generation task. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that it significantly outperforms existing image-diffusion baselines by eliminating severe localized artifacts. Consequently, our method overcomes inherent structural bottlenecks to ensure exceptional global coherence and visual fidelity across diverse domains at extreme scales.

PreferThinker: Reasoning-based Personalized Image Preference Assessment

Personalized image preference assessment aims to evaluate an individual user's image preferences by relying only on a small set of reference images as prior information. Existing methods mainly focus on general preference assessment, training models with large-scale data to tackle well-defined tasks such as text-image alignment. However, these approaches struggle to handle personalized preference because user-specific data are scarce and not easily scalable, and individual tastes are often diverse and complex. To overcome these challenges, we introduce a common preference profile that serves as a bridge across users, allowing large-scale user data to be leveraged for training profile prediction and capturing complex personalized preferences. Building on this idea, we propose a reasoning-based personalized image preference assessment framework that follows a \textit{predict-then-assess} paradigm: it first predicts a user's preference profile from reference images, and then provides interpretable, multi-dimensional scores and assessments of candidate images based on the predicted profile. To support this, we first construct a large-scale Chain-of-Thought (CoT)-style personalized assessment dataset annotated with diverse user preference profiles and high-quality CoT-style reasoning, enabling explicit supervision of structured reasoning. Next, we adopt a two-stage training strategy: a cold-start supervised fine-tuning phase to empower the model with structured reasoning capabilities, followed by reinforcement learning to incentivize the model to explore more reasonable assessment paths and enhance generalization. Furthermore, we propose a similarity-aware prediction reward to encourage better prediction of the user's preference profile, which facilitates more reasonable assessments exploration. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.

Tool-R1: Sample-Efficient Reinforcement Learning for Agentic Tool Use

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated strong capabilities in language understanding and reasoning, yet they remain limited when tackling real-world tasks that require up-to-date knowledge, precise operations, or specialized tool use. To address this, we propose Tool-R1, a reinforcement learning framework that enables LLMs to perform general, compositional, and multi-step tool use by generating executable Python code. Tool-R1 supports integration of user-defined tools and standard libraries, with variable sharing across steps to construct coherent workflows. An outcome-based reward function, combining LLM-based answer judgment and code execution success, guides policy optimization. To improve training efficiency, we maintain a dynamic sample queue to cache and reuse high-quality trajectories, reducing the overhead of costly online sampling. Experiments on the GAIA benchmark show that Tool-R1 substantially improves both accuracy and robustness, achieving about 10\% gain over strong baselines, with larger improvements on complex multi-step tasks. These results highlight the potential of Tool-R1 for enabling reliable and efficient tool-augmented reasoning in real-world applications. Our code will be available at https://github.com/YBYBZhang/Tool-R1.

AnimateAnywhere: Rouse the Background in Human Image Animation

Human image animation aims to generate human videos of given characters and backgrounds that adhere to the desired pose sequence. However, existing methods focus more on human actions while neglecting the generation of background, which typically leads to static results or inharmonious movements. The community has explored camera pose-guided animation tasks, yet preparing the camera trajectory is impractical for most entertainment applications and ordinary users. As a remedy, we present an AnimateAnywhere framework, rousing the background in human image animation without requirements on camera trajectories. In particular, based on our key insight that the movement of the human body often reflects the motion of the background, we introduce a background motion learner (BML) to learn background motions from human pose sequences. To encourage the model to learn more accurate cross-frame correspondences, we further deploy an epipolar constraint on the 3D attention map. Specifically, the mask used to suppress geometrically unreasonable attention is carefully constructed by combining an epipolar mask and the current 3D attention map. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our AnimateAnywhere effectively learns the background motion from human pose sequences, achieving state-of-the-art performance in generating human animation results with vivid and realistic backgrounds. The source code and model will be available at https://github.com/liuxiaoyu1104/AnimateAnywhere.

Beyond Static Scenes: Camera-controllable Background Generation for Human Motion

In this paper, we investigate the generation of new video backgrounds given a human foreground video, a camera pose, and a reference scene image. This task presents three key challenges. First, the generated background should precisely follow the camera movements corresponding to the human foreground. Second, as the camera shifts in different directions, newly revealed content should appear seamless and natural. Third, objects within the video frame should maintain consistent textures as the camera moves to ensure visual coherence. To address these challenges, we propose DynaScene, a new framework that uses camera poses extracted from the original video as an explicit control to drive background motion. Specifically, we design a multi-task learning paradigm that incorporates auxiliary tasks, namely background outpainting and scene variation, to enhance the realism of the generated backgrounds. Given the scarcity of suitable data, we constructed a large-scale, high-quality dataset tailored for this task, comprising video foregrounds, reference scene images, and corresponding camera poses. This dataset contains 200K video clips, ten times larger than existing real-world human video datasets, providing a significantly richer and more diverse training resource. Personalized Image Generation with Deep Generative Models: A Decade Survey

Recent advancements in generative models have significantly facilitated the development of personalized content creation. Given a small set of images with user-specific concept, personalized image generation allows to create images that incorporate the specified concept and adhere to provided text descriptions. Due to its wide applications in content creation, significant effort has been devoted to this field in recent years. Nonetheless, the technologies used for personalization have evolved alongside the development of generative models, with their distinct and interrelated components. In this survey, we present a comprehensive review of generalized personalized image generation across various generative models, including traditional GANs, contemporary text-to-image diffusion models, and emerging multi-model autoregressive models. We first define a unified framework that standardizes the personalization process across different generative models, encompassing three key components, i.e., inversion spaces, inversion methods, and personalization schemes. This unified framework offers a structured approach to dissecting and comparing personalization techniques across different generative architectures. Building upon this unified framework, we further provide an in-depth analysis of personalization techniques within each generative model, highlighting their unique contributions and innovations. Through comparative analysis, this survey elucidates the current landscape of personalized image generation, identifying commonalities and distinguishing features among existing methods. Finally, we discuss the open challenges in the field and propose potential directions for future research. FramePainter: Endowing Interactive Image Editing with Video Diffusion Priors

Interactive image editing allows users to modify images through visual interaction operations such as drawing, clicking, and dragging. Existing methods construct such supervision signals from videos, as they capture how objects change with various physical interactions. However, these models are usually built upon text-to-image diffusion models, so necessitate (i) massive training samples and (ii) an additional reference encoder to learn real-world dynamics and visual consistency. In this paper, we reformulate this task as an image-to-video generation problem, so that inherit powerful video diffusion priors to reduce training costs and ensure temporal consistency. Specifically, we introduce FramePainter as an efficient instantiation of this formulation. Initialized with Stable Video Diffusion, it only uses a lightweight sparse control encoder to inject editing signals. Considering the limitations of temporal attention in handling large motion between two frames, we further propose matching attention to enlarge the receptive field while encouraging dense correspondence between edited and source image tokens. We highlight the effectiveness and efficiency of FramePainter across various of editing signals: it domainantly outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods with far less training data, achieving highly seamless and coherent editing of images, \eg, automatically adjust the reflection of the cup. Moreover, FramePainter also exhibits exceptional generalization in scenarios not present in real-world videos, \eg, transform the clownfish into shark-like shape. Our code will be available at https://github.com/YBYBZhang/FramePainter.

VitaGlyph: Vitalizing Artistic Typography with Flexible Dual-branch Diffusion Models

Artistic typography is a technique to visualize the meaning of input character in an imaginable and readable manner. With powerful text-to-image diffusion models, existing methods directly design the overall geometry and texture of input character, making it challenging to ensure both creativity and legibility. In this paper, we introduce a dual-branch, training-free method called VitaGlyph, enabling flexible artistic typography with controllable geometry changes while maintaining the readability. The key insight of VitaGlyph is to treat input character as a scene composed of a Subject and its Surrounding, which are rendered with varying degrees of geometric transformation. To enhance the visual appeal and creativity of the generated artistic typography, the subject flexibly expresses the essential concept of the input character, while the surrounding enriches relevant background without altering the shape, thus maintaining overall readability. Specifically, we implement VitaGlyph through a three-phase framework: (i) Knowledge Acquisition leverages large language models to design text descriptions for the subject and surrounding. (ii) Regional Interpretation detects the part that most closely matches the subject description and refines the structure via Semantic Typography. (iii) Attentional Compositional Generation separately renders the textures of the Subject and Surrounding regions and blends them in an attention-based manner. Experimental results demonstrate that VitaGlyph not only achieves better artistry and readability but also manages to depict multiple customized concepts, facilitating more creative and pleasing artistic typography generation. Our code will be made publicly available.

MC$^2$: Multi-concept Guidance for Customized Multi-concept Generation

Customized text-to-image generation, which synthesizes images based on user-specified concepts, has made significant progress in handling individual concepts. However, when extended to multiple concepts, existing methods often struggle with properly integrating different models and avoiding the unintended blending of characteristics from distinct concepts. In this paper, we propose MC$^2$, a novel approach for multi-concept customization that enhances flexibility and fidelity through inference-time optimization. MC$^2$ enables the integration of multiple single-concept models with heterogeneous architectures. By adaptively refining attention weights between visual and textual tokens, our method ensures that image regions accurately correspond to their associated concepts while minimizing interference between concepts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MC$^2$ outperforms training-based methods in terms of prompt-reference alignment. Furthermore, MC$^2$ can be seamlessly applied to text-to-image generation, providing robust compositional capabilities. To facilitate the evaluation of multi-concept customization, we also introduce a new benchmark, MC++. The code will be publicly available at https://github.com/JIANGJiaXiu/MC-2.

VideoElevator: Elevating Video Generation Quality with Versatile Text-to-Image Diffusion Models

Text-to-image diffusion models (T2I) have demonstrated unprecedented capabilities in creating realistic and aesthetic images. On the contrary, text-to-video diffusion models (T2V) still lag far behind in frame quality and text alignment, owing to insufficient quality and quantity of training videos. In this paper, we introduce VideoElevator, a training-free and plug-and-play method, which elevates the performance of T2V using superior capabilities of T2I. Different from conventional T2V sampling (i.e., temporal and spatial modeling), VideoElevator explicitly decomposes each sampling step into temporal motion refining and spatial quality elevating. Specifically, temporal motion refining uses encapsulated T2V to enhance temporal consistency, followed by inverting to the noise distribution required by T2I. Then, spatial quality elevating harnesses inflated T2I to directly predict less noisy latent, adding more photo-realistic details. We have conducted experiments in extensive prompts under the combination of various T2V and T2I. The results show that VideoElevator not only improves the performance of T2V baselines with foundational T2I, but also facilitates stylistic video synthesis with personalized T2I. Our code is available at https://github.com/YBYBZhang/VideoElevator.

Ref-Diff: Zero-shot Referring Image Segmentation with Generative Models

Zero-shot referring image segmentation is a challenging task because it aims to find an instance segmentation mask based on the given referring descriptions, without training on this type of paired data. Current zero-shot methods mainly focus on using pre-trained discriminative models (e.g., CLIP). However, we have observed that generative models (e.g., Stable Diffusion) have potentially understood the relationships between various visual elements and text descriptions, which are rarely investigated in this task. In this work, we introduce a novel Referring Diffusional segmentor (Ref-Diff) for this task, which leverages the fine-grained multi-modal information from generative models. We demonstrate that without a proposal generator, a generative model alone can achieve comparable performance to existing SOTA weakly-supervised models. When we combine both generative and discriminative models, our Ref-Diff outperforms these competing methods by a significant margin. This indicates that generative models are also beneficial for this task and can complement discriminative models for better referring segmentation. Our code is publicly available at https://github.com/kodenii/Ref-Diff.

VQ-Font: Few-Shot Font Generation with Structure-Aware Enhancement and Quantization

Few-shot font generation is challenging, as it needs to capture the fine-grained stroke styles from a limited set of reference glyphs, and then transfer to other characters, which are expected to have similar styles. However, due to the diversity and complexity of Chinese font styles, the synthesized glyphs of existing methods usually exhibit visible artifacts, such as missing details and distorted strokes. In this paper, we propose a VQGAN-based framework (i.e., VQ-Font) to enhance glyph fidelity through token prior refinement and structure-aware enhancement. Specifically, we pre-train a VQGAN to encapsulate font token prior within a codebook. Subsequently, VQ-Font refines the synthesized glyphs with the codebook to eliminate the domain gap between synthesized and real-world strokes. Furthermore, our VQ-Font leverages the inherent design of Chinese characters, where structure components such as radicals and character components are combined in specific arrangements, to recalibrate fine-grained styles based on references. This process improves the matching and fusion of styles at the structure level. Both modules collaborate to enhance the fidelity of the generated fonts. Experiments on a collected font dataset show that our VQ-Font outperforms the competing methods both quantitatively and qualitatively, especially in generating challenging styles.

ControlVideo: Training-free Controllable Text-to-Video Generation

Text-driven diffusion models have unlocked unprecedented abilities in image generation, whereas their video counterpart still lags behind due to the excessive training cost of temporal modeling. Besides the training burden, the generated videos also suffer from appearance inconsistency and structural flickers, especially in long video synthesis. To address these challenges, we design a \emph{training-free} framework called \textbf{ControlVideo} to enable natural and efficient text-to-video generation. ControlVideo, adapted from ControlNet, leverages coarsely structural consistency from input motion sequences, and introduces three modules to improve video generation. Firstly, to ensure appearance coherence between frames, ControlVideo adds fully cross-frame interaction in self-attention modules. Secondly, to mitigate the flicker effect, it introduces an interleaved-frame smoother that employs frame interpolation on alternated frames. Finally, to produce long videos efficiently, it utilizes a hierarchical sampler that separately synthesizes each short clip with holistic coherency. Empowered with these modules, ControlVideo outperforms the state-of-the-arts on extensive motion-prompt pairs quantitatively and qualitatively. Notably, thanks to the efficient designs, it generates both short and long videos within several minutes using one NVIDIA 2080Ti. Code is available at https://github.com/YBYBZhang/ControlVideo.

Associating Spatially-Consistent Grouping with Text-supervised Semantic Segmentation

In this work, we investigate performing semantic segmentation solely through the training on image-sentence pairs. Due to the lack of dense annotations, existing text-supervised methods can only learn to group an image into semantic regions via pixel-insensitive feedback. As a result, their grouped results are coarse and often contain small spurious regions, limiting the upper-bound performance of segmentation. On the other hand, we observe that grouped results from self-supervised models are more semantically consistent and break the bottleneck of existing methods. Motivated by this, we introduce associate self-supervised spatially-consistent grouping with text-supervised semantic segmentation. Considering the part-like grouped results, we further adapt a text-supervised model from image-level to region-level recognition with two core designs. First, we encourage fine-grained alignment with a one-way noun-to-region contrastive loss, which reduces the mismatched noun-region pairs. Second, we adopt a contextually aware masking strategy to enable simultaneous recognition of all grouped regions. Coupled with spatially-consistent grouping and region-adapted recognition, our method achieves 59.2% mIoU and 32.4% mIoU on Pascal VOC and Pascal Context benchmarks, significantly surpassing the state-of-the-art methods.

ELITE: Encoding Visual Concepts into Textual Embeddings for Customized Text-to-Image Generation

In addition to the unprecedented ability in imaginary creation, large text-to-image models are expected to take customized concepts in image generation. Existing works generally learn such concepts in an optimization-based manner, yet bringing excessive computation or memory burden. In this paper, we instead propose a learning-based encoder, which consists of a global and a local mapping networks for fast and accurate customized text-to-image generation. In specific, the global mapping network projects the hierarchical features of a given image into multiple new words in the textual word embedding space, i.e., one primary word for well-editable concept and other auxiliary words to exclude irrelevant disturbances (e.g., background). In the meantime, a local mapping network injects the encoded patch features into cross attention layers to provide omitted details, without sacrificing the editability of primary concepts. We compare our method with existing optimization-based approaches on a variety of user-defined concepts, and demonstrate that our method enables high-fidelity inversion and more robust editability with a significantly faster encoding process. Our code is publicly available at https://github.com/csyxwei/ELITE.
