SceneMosaic: Efficient and Diverse Simulation-Ready Scene Generation via Hybrid Agentic Layout Evolution

Diverse and simulation-ready indoor scenes are essential for interactive entertainment and embodied AI, yet their scalable generation remains challenging. Recent agentic text-to-3D scene pipelines that rely on vision-language models (VLMs) can generate scenes of high fidelity but require costly iterative object placement and refinement. Another mainstream paradigm, parametric image-to-3D scene models, produces scenes efficiently from strong priors learned from 2D images but often leads to imprecise and physically invalid scenes. More importantly, both paradigms struggle to output diverse scenes for a single input, making it hard for them to reflect the dynamically changing nature of real scenes. In this paper we propose \textbf{SceneMosaic}, a framework that combines the merits of both paradigms. It obtains the initial candidate from the learned image-based prior, and subsequently evolves the result through VLM agents, ensuring both efficiency and physical validity. Within the evolution process, SceneMosaic exploits the locality of natural scenes and decomposes a scene into independent local units, allowing separate evolution within each unit before composing the global scene via Cartesian product. On SceneEval-100, SceneMosaic matches the strongest agentic baseline in semantic layout quality with a 24x speedup, substantially reduces physical violations, and receives the highest human ratings. Our code is publicly available at https://github.com/rxjfighting/SceneMosaic.

Pair2Scene: Learning Local Object Relations for Procedural Scene Generation

Generating high-fidelity 3D indoor scenes remains a significant challenge due to data scarcity and the complexity of modeling intricate spatial relations. Current methods often struggle to scale beyond training distribution to dense scenes or rely on LLMs/VLMs that lack the ability for precise spatial reasoning. Building on top of the observation that object placement relies mainly on local dependencies instead of information-redundant global distributions, in this paper, we propose Pair2Scene, a novel procedural generation framework that integrates learned local rules with scene hierarchies and physics-based algorithms. These rules mainly capture two types of inter-object relations, namely support relations that follow physical hierarchies, and functional relations that reflect semantic links. We model these rules through a network, which estimates spatial position distributions of dependent objects conditioned on position and geometry of the anchor ones. Accordingly, we curate a dataset 3D-Pairs from existing scene data to train the model. During inference, our framework can generate scenes by recursively applying our model within a hierarchical structure, leveraging collision-aware rejection sampling to align local rules into coherent global layouts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our framework outperforms existing methods in generating complex environments that go beyond training data while maintaining physical and semantic plausibility.

Direct Numerical Layout Generation for 3D Indoor Scene Synthesis via Spatial Reasoning

Realistic 3D indoor scene synthesis is vital for embodied AI and digital content creation. It can be naturally divided into two subtasks: object generation and layout generation. While recent generative models have significantly advanced object-level quality and controllability, layout generation remains challenging due to limited datasets. Existing methods either overfit to these datasets or rely on predefined constraints to optimize numerical layout that sacrifice flexibility. As a result, they fail to generate scenes that are both open-vocabulary and aligned with fine-grained user instructions. We introduce DirectLayout, a framework that directly generates numerical 3D layouts from text descriptions using generalizable spatial reasoning of large language models (LLMs). DirectLayout decomposes the generation into three stages: producing a Bird's-Eye View (BEV) layout, lifting it into 3D space, and refining object placements. To enable explicit spatial reasoning and help the model grasp basic principles of object placement, we employ Chain-of-Thought (CoT) Activation based on the 3D-Front dataset. Additionally, we design CoT-Grounded Generative Layout Reward to enhance generalization and spatial planning. During inference, DirectLayout addresses asset-layout mismatches via Iterative Asset-Layout Alignment through in-context learning. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DirectLayout achieves impressive semantic consistency, generalization and physical plausibility.

Proc-GS: Procedural Building Generation for City Assembly with 3D Gaussians

Buildings are primary components of cities, often featuring repeated elements such as windows and doors. Traditional 3D building asset creation is labor-intensive and requires specialized skills to develop design rules. Recent generative models for building creation often overlook these patterns, leading to low visual fidelity and limited scalability. Drawing inspiration from procedural modeling techniques used in the gaming and visual effects industry, our method, Proc-GS, integrates procedural code into the 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS) framework, leveraging their advantages in high-fidelity rendering and efficient asset management from both worlds. By manipulating procedural code, we can streamline this process and generate an infinite variety of buildings. This integration significantly reduces model size by utilizing shared foundational assets, enabling scalable generation with precise control over building assembly. We showcase the potential for expansive cityscape generation while maintaining high rendering fidelity and precise control on both real and synthetic cases.

GALA3D: Towards Text-to-3D Complex Scene Generation via Layout-guided Generative Gaussian Splatting

We present GALA3D, generative 3D GAussians with LAyout-guided control, for effective compositional text-to-3D generation. We first utilize large language models (LLMs) to generate the initial layout and introduce a layout-guided 3D Gaussian representation for 3D content generation with adaptive geometric constraints. We then propose an instance-scene compositional optimization mechanism with conditioned diffusion to collaboratively generate realistic 3D scenes with consistent geometry, texture, scale, and accurate interactions among multiple objects while simultaneously adjusting the coarse layout priors extracted from the LLMs to align with the generated scene. Experiments show that GALA3D is a user-friendly, end-to-end framework for state-of-the-art scene-level 3D content generation and controllable editing while ensuring the high fidelity of object-level entities within the scene. The source codes and models will be available at gala3d.github.io.
