Rethinking Auxiliary Modalities in Multimodal Zero-shot Anomaly Detection: From Semantic Fusion to Conditional Modulation

Recent foundation model-based methods have endowed RGB images with strong zero-shot anomaly detection (ZSAD) through vision-language pretraining. However, RGB observations alone remain limited in perceiving anomalies dominated by geometric deformation, depth variation, or subtle surface changes. Auxiliary modalities can provide complementary structural information, but existing multimodal methods typically fuse them directly into a shared semantic space, which may disturb the text-aligned anomaly semantics established by RGB foundation models and often requires modality-specific architectures. To address this issue, we propose a plug-and-play auxiliary-conditioned enhancement framework for zero-shot anomaly detection. Instead of reconstructing a joint multimodal anomaly semantic space, our framework preserves the original RGB image-text anomaly matching pathway and uses auxiliary observations as conditional signals for RGB feature refinement, allowing auxiliary modalities to seamlessly enhance existing RGB-based zero-shot anomaly detectors. Specifically, a lightweight meta-learning module takes global RGB and auxiliary representations as input and generates sample-adaptive low-rank residual updates to determine how RGB features should be refined. We further construct uncertainty-aware spatial modulation from the initial RGB anomaly response and auxiliary reliability, which determines where local residual updates are strengthened or suppressed. This global-to-local conditional modulation enables selective multimodal enhancement while preserving the original RGB anomaly semantics. Extensive experiments on MVTec 3D-AD and Eyecandies demonstrate that our framework consistently improves multiple popular RGB-based zero-shot anomaly detectors, achieving state-of-the-art performance for multimodal zero-shot anomaly detection.

Auditing Data Provenance in LLM Fine-tuning via Intrinsic Distributional Fingerprints

The proliferation of customized Large Language Models (LLMs) poses critical risks of Data Intellectual Property (Data IP) infringement via unauthorized fine-tuning on proprietary data. Existing audit techniques are limited, as they require intervention during data preparation or training and remain fragile under malicious obfuscations such as data paraphrasing and knowledge distillation. We propose \textit{Distribution Provenance Audit (DPA)}, a post-hoc framework for auditing data IP infringement in LLM fine-tuning under black-box and malicious settings. DPA is grounded in a critical insight: regardless of fine-tuning tactics to evade provenance, the practical necessity of maintaining utility constrains the model to preserve the fundamental intersection of semantic substance and lexical form. Accordingly, DPA captures this persistent lexical-semantic intersection as intrinsic distributional fingerprints. The framework formulates the audit as a statistical hypothesis test, effectively quantifying these fingerprints via unbiased output sampling to reliably reject the null hypothesis of non-usage. Extensive experiments on medical and legal fine-tuning tasks show that DPA consistently outperforms existing baselines, remaining robust against adversarial trainers employing paraphrasing and knowledge distillation. We further highlight a fundamental dual-use tension: the same high-fidelity distributional fingerprints enabling reliable auditing may also facilitate privacy attacks.

Nonlinear Breit-Wheeler Process Driven by Intense Squeezed Light

The nonlinear Breit-Wheeler process is a fundamental phenomenon of strong-field quantum electrodynamics and is usually studied for classically prescribed laser backgrounds. Here we examine how the statistical properties of a squeezed coherent driving field modify nonlinear Breit-Wheeler pair production. Using a polarization-resolved Monte Carlo framework with stochastic averaging over the field-amplitude distribution derived from the Husimi Q-function, we simulate collisions of gamma photons with squeezed light and identify clear source-state-dependent modifications of the pair production signal. These effects include the smoothing of harmonic structure, the enhancement of higher-order multiphoton channels, and the suppression of the single-laser-photon absorption channel when stronger-field realizations raise the dressed-mass threshold. Within the selected spectral window, the degree of positron polarization increases monotonically with the squeezing parameter, while the angular distributions broaden as the statistical weight of larger field amplitudes increases. Our results show that, even at fixed mean electric-field amplitude, the statistical fluctuations inherent to the squeezed coherent state can substantially reshape spectral, angular, and spin-resolved observables in strong-field pair production. These findings illustrate a direct link between source-state-dependent field statistics and strong-field pair production observables, and provide a theoretical framework for studying how squeezed-state preparation of the driving field can influence high-energy QED processes.

HEDP: A Hybrid Energy-Distance Prompt-based Framework for Domain Incremental Learning

Domain Incremental Learning is a critical scenario that requires models to continuously adapt to new data domains without retraining. However, domain shifts often cause severe performance degradation. To address this, we propose Hybrid Energy-Distance Prompt, a domain-incremental framework inspired by Helmholtz free energy. HEDP introduces an energy regularization loss to enhance the separability of domain representations and a hybrid energy-distance weighted mechanism that fuses energy-based and distance-based cues to improve domain selection and generalization. Experiments on multiple benchmarks, including CORe50, show that HEDP achieves superior performance on unseen domains with a 2.57\% accuracy gain, effectively mitigating catastrophic forgetting and enhancing open-world adaptability. Single-frame super-resolution via Sparse Point Optimization

Fluorescence microscopy is essential in biological and medical research, providing critical insights into cellular structures. However, limited by optical diffraction and background noise, a substantial amount of hidden information is still unexploited. To address these challenges, we introduce a novel computational method, termed Sparse Point Optimization Theory (SPOT), which accurately localizes fluorescent emitters by solving an optimization problem. Our results demonstrate that SPOT successfully resolves 30 nm fluorescent line pairs, reveals structural details beyond the diffraction limit in both Airyscan and structured illumination microscopy, and outperforms established algorithms in single-molecule localization tasks. This generic method effectively pushes the resolution limit in the presence of noise, and holds great promise for advancing fluorescence microscopy and analysis in cell biology.

Toward ground-truth optical coherence tomography via three-dimensional unsupervised deep learning processing and data

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) can perform non-invasive high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) imaging and has been widely used in biomedical fields, while it is inevitably affected by coherence speckle noise which degrades OCT imaging performance and restricts its applications. Here we present a novel speckle-free OCT imaging strategy, named toward-ground-truth OCT (tGT-OCT), that utilizes unsupervised 3D deep-learning processing and leverages OCT 3D imaging features to achieve speckle-free OCT imaging. Specifically, our proposed tGT-OCT utilizes an unsupervised 3D-convolution deep-learning network trained using random 3D volumetric data to distinguish and separate speckle from real structures in 3D imaging volumetric space; moreover, tGT-OCT effectively further reduces speckle noise and reveals structures that would otherwise be obscured by speckle noise while preserving spatial resolution. Results derived from different samples demonstrated the high-quality speckle-free 3D imaging performance of tGT-OCT and its advancement beyond the previous state-of-the-art.

TSMind: Alibaba and Soochow University's Submission to the WMT22 Translation Suggestion Task

This paper describes the joint submission of Alibaba and Soochow University, TSMind, to the WMT 2022 Shared Task on Translation Suggestion (TS). We participate in the English-German and English-Chinese tasks. Basically, we utilize the model paradigm fine-tuning on the downstream tasks based on large-scale pre-trained models, which has recently achieved great success. We choose FAIR's WMT19 English-German news translation system and MBART50 for English-Chinese as our pre-trained models. Considering the task's condition of limited use of training data, we follow the data augmentation strategies proposed by WeTS to boost our TS model performance. The difference is that we further involve the dual conditional cross-entropy model and GPT-2 language model to filter augmented data. The leader board finally shows that our submissions are ranked first in three of four language directions in the Naive TS task of the WMT22 Translation Suggestion task.

Easy Guided Decoding in Providing Suggestions for Interactive Machine Translation

Machine translation technology has made great progress in recent years, but it cannot guarantee error free results. Human translators perform post editing on machine translations to correct errors in the scene of computer aided translation. In favor of expediting the post editing process, many works have investigated machine translation in interactive modes, in which machines can automatically refine the rest of translations constrained by human's edits. Translation Suggestion (TS), as an interactive mode to assist human translators, requires machines to generate alternatives for specific incorrect words or phrases selected by human translators. In this paper, we utilize the parameterized objective function of neural machine translation (NMT) and propose a novel constrained decoding algorithm, namely Prefix Suffix Guided Decoding (PSGD), to deal with the TS problem without additional training. Compared to the state of the art lexically constrained decoding method, PSGD improves translation quality by an average of $10.87$ BLEU and $8.62$ BLEU on the WeTS and the WMT 2022 Translation Suggestion datasets, respectively, and reduces decoding time overhead by an average of 63.4% tested on the WMT translation datasets. Furthermore, on both of the TS benchmark datasets, it is superior to other supervised learning systems trained with TS annotated data.

Contrast of nuclei in stratified squamous epithelium in optical coherence tomography images at 800 nm

Imaging nuclei of keratinocytes in the stratified squamous epithelium has been a subject of intense research since nucleus associated cellular atypia is the key criteria for the screening and diagnosis of epithelial cancers and their precursors. However, keratinocyte nuclei have been reported to be either low scattering or high scattering, so that these inconsistent reports might have led to misinterpretations of optical images, and more importantly, hindered the establishment of optical diagnostic criteria. We disclose that they are generally low scattering in the core using Micro-optical coherence tomography (micro-OCT) of 1.28 um axial resolution in vivo; those previously reported high scattering or bright signals from nuclei are likely from the nucleocytoplasmic boundary, and the low-scattering nuclear cores were missed possibly due to insufficient axial resolutions (about 4 um). It is further demonstrated that the high scattering signals may be associated with flattening of nuclei and cytoplasmic glycogen accumulation, which are valuable cytologic hallmarks of cell maturation.
