Regular complete permutation polynomials over quadratic extension fields

Let $r\geq 3$ be any positive integer which is relatively prime to $p$ and $q^2\equiv 1 \pmod r$. Let $\tau_1, \tau_2$ be any permutation polynomials over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2},$ $\sigma_M$ is an invertible linear map over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$ and $\sigma=\tau_1\circ\sigma_M\circ\tau_2$. In this paper, we prove that, for suitable $\tau_1, \tau_2$ and $\sigma_M$, the map $\sigma$ could be $r$-regular complete permutation polynomials over quadratic extension fields.

A general construction of regular complete permutation polynomials

Let $r\geq 3$ be a positive integer and $\mathbb{F}_q$ the finite field with $q$ elements. In this paper, we consider the $r$-regular complete permutation property of maps with the form $f=\tau\circ\sigma_M\circ\tau^{-1}$ where $\tau$ is a PP over an extension field $\mathbb{F}_{q^d}$ and $\sigma_M$ is an invertible linear map over $\mathbb{F}_{q^d}$. We give a general construction of $r$-regular PPs for any positive integer $r$. When $\tau$ is additive, we give a general construction of $r$-regular CPPs for any positive integer $r$. When $\tau$ is not additive, we give many examples of regular CPPs over the extension fields for $r=3,4,5,6,7$ and for arbitrary odd positive integer $r$. These examples are the generalization of the first class of $r$-regular CPPs constructed by Xu, Zeng and Zhang (Des. Codes Cryptogr. 90, 545-575 (2022)).

Multiform Fonts-to-Fonts Translation via Style and Content Disentangled Representations of Chinese Character

This paper mainly discusses the generation of personalized fonts as the problem of image style transfer. The main purpose of this paper is to design a network framework that can extract and recombine the content and style of the characters. These attempts can be used to synthesize the entire set of fonts with only a small amount of characters. The paper combines various depth networks such as Convolutional Neural Network, Multi-layer Perceptron and Residual Network to find the optimal model to extract the features of the fonts character. The result shows that those characters we have generated is very close to real characters, using Structural Similarity index and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio evaluation criterions.

Automatic Generation of Chinese Handwriting via Fonts Style Representation Learning

In this paper, we propose and end-to-end deep Chinese font generation system. This system can generate new style fonts by interpolation of latent style-related embeding variables that could achieve smooth transition between different style. Our method is simpler and more effective than other methods, which will help to improve the font design efficiency

u-net CNN based fourier ptychography

Fourier ptychography is a recently explored imaging method for overcoming the diffraction limit of conventional cameras with applications in microscopy and yielding high-resolution images. In order to splice together low-resolution images taken under different illumination angles of coherent light source, an iterative phase retrieval algorithm is adopted. However, the reconstruction procedure is slow and needs a good many of overlap in the Fourier domain for the continuous recorded low-resolution images and is also worse under system aberrations such as noise or random update sequence. In this paper, we propose a new retrieval algorithm that is based on convolutional neural networks. Once well trained, our model can perform high-quality reconstruction rapidly by using the graphics processing unit. The experiments demonstrate that our model achieves better reconstruction results and is more robust under system aberrations.

Inverse design of multilayer nanoparticles using artificial neural networks and genetic algorithm

The light scattering of multilayer nanoparticles can be solved by Maxwell equations. However, it is difficult to solve the inverse design of multilayer nanoparticles by using the traditional trial-and-error method. Here, we present a method for forward simulation and inverse design of multilayer nanoparticles. We combine the global search ability of genetic algorithm with the local search ability of neural network. First, the genetic algorithm is used to find a suitable solution, and then the neural network is used to fine-tune it. Due to the non-unique relationship between physical structures and optical responses, we first train a forward neural network, and then it is applied to the inverse design of multilayer nanoparticles. Not only here, this method can easily be extended to predict and find the best design parameters for other optical structures.

Robotic Cane as a Soft SuperLimb for Elderly Sit-to-Stand Assistance

Many researchers have identified robotics as a potential solution to the aging population faced by many developed and developing countries. If so, how should we address the cognitive acceptance and ambient control of elderly assistive robots through design? In this paper, we proposed an explorative design of an ambient SuperLimb (Supernumerary Robotic Limb) system that involves a pneumatically-driven robotic cane for at-home motion assistance, an inflatable vest for compliant human-robot interaction, and a depth sensor for ambient intention detection. The proposed system aims at providing active assistance during the sit-to-stand transition for at-home usage by the elderly at the bedside, in the chair, and on the toilet. We proposed a modified biomechanical model with a linear cane robot for closed-loop control implementation. We validated the design feasibility of the proposed ambient SuperLimb system including the biomechanical model, our result showed the advantages in reducing lower limb efforts and elderly fall risks, yet the detection accuracy using depth sensing and adjustments on the model still require further research in the future. Nevertheless, we summarized empirical guidelines to support the ambient design of elderly-assistive SuperLimb systems for lower limb functional augmentation.

Minimal Linear Codes Constructed from Functions

In this paper, we consider minimal linear codes in a general construction of linear codes from q-ary functions. First, we give the sufficient and necessary condition for codewords to be minimal. Second, as an application, we present four constructions of minimal linear codes which contained some recent results as special cases.

The Parameters of Minimal Linear Codes

Let $k\leq n$ be two positive integers and $q$ a prime power. The basic question in minimal linear codes is to determine if there exists an $[n,k]_q$ minimal linear code. The first objective of this paper is to present a new sufficient and necessary condition for linear codes to be minimal. Using this condition, it is easy to construct minimal linear codes or to prove some linear codes are minimal. The second objective of this paper is to use the new sufficient and necessary condition to partially give an answer to the basic question in minimal linear codes. The third objective of this paper is to present four classes of minimal linear codes, which generalize the results about the binary case given in [X. Li and Q. Yue, Des. Codes Cryptogr., 2019]. One can find that our method is much easier and more effective.

Six constructions of asymptotically optimal codebooks via the character sums

In this paper, using additive characters of finite field, we find a codebook which is equivalent to the measurement matrix in [20]. The advantage of our construction is that it can be generalized naturally to construct the other five classes of codebooks using additive and multiplicative characters of finite field. We determine the maximal cross-correlation amplitude of these codebooks by the properties of characters and character sums. We prove that all the codebooks we constructed are asymptotically optimal with respect to the Welch bound. The parameters of these codebooks are new.

Supervised feature selection with orthogonal regression and feature weighting

Effective features can improve the performance of a model, which can thus help us understand the characteristics and underlying structure of complex data. Previous feature selection methods usually cannot keep more local structure information. To address the defects previously mentioned, we propose a novel supervised orthogonal least square regression model with feature weighting for feature selection. The optimization problem of the objection function can be solved by employing generalized power iteration (GPI) and augmented Lagrangian multiplier (ALM) methods. Experimental results show that the proposed method can more effectively reduce the feature dimensionality and obtain better classification results than traditional feature selection methods. The convergence of our iterative method is proved as well. Consequently, the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method are verified both theoretically and experimentally.

Locally distinguish unextendible product bases by efficiently using entanglement resource

Any set of states which cannot be perfectly distinguished by local operations and classical communication (LOCC) alone, can always be locally distinguished using quantum teleportation with enough entanglement resource. However, in quantum information theory, entanglement is a very valuable resource, so it leaves the following open question: how to accomplish this task more efficiently than teleportation, that is, design the local discrimination protocol using less entanglement resource. In this paper, we first present two protocols to locally distinguish a set of unextendible product bases (UPB) in $5\otimes 5$ by using different entanglement resource. Then, we generalize the distinguishing methods for a class of UPB in $d\otimes d$, where $d$ is odd and $d\geqslant 3$. Furthermore, for a class of UPB in $d\otimes d$, where $d$ is even and $d\geqslant 4$, we prove that these states can also be distinguished by LOCC with multiple copies of low-dimensional entanglement resource. These results offer rather general insight into how to use entanglement resource more efficiently, and also reveal the phenomenon of less nonlocality with more entanglement.

New constructions of asymptotically optimal codebooks via character sums over a local ring

In this paper, we present explicit description on the additive characters, multiplicative characters and Gauss sums over a local ring. As an application, based on the additive characters and multiplicative characters satisfying certain conditions, two new constructions of complex codebooks over a local ring are introduced. With these two constructions, we obtain two families of codebooks achieving asymptotically optimal with respect to the Welch bound. It's worth mentioning that the codebooks constructed in this paper have new parameters.

Two constructions of asymptotically optimal codebooks via the trace functions

In this paper, we present two new constructions of complex codebooks with multiplicative characters, additive characters and trace functions over finite fields, and determine the maximal cross-correlation amplitude of these codebooks. We prove that the codebooks we constructed are asymptotically optimal with respect to the Welch bound. Moreover, in the first construction, we generalize the result in [28]. In the second construction, we generalize the results in [12], we can achieve Welch bound for any odd prime p, we also derive the whole distribution of their inner products. The parameters of these codebooks are new.

Determination of stabilizer states

The determination of many special types of quantum states has been studied thoroughly, such as the generalized |GHZ> states, |W> states equivalent under stochastic local operations and classical communication and Dicke states. In this paper, we are going to study another special entanglement states which is stabilizer states. The stabilizer states and their subset graph states play an important role in quantum error correcting codes, multipartite purification and so on. We show that all n- qubit stabilizer states are uniquely determined (among arbitrary states, pure or mixed) by their reduced density matrices for systems which are the supports of n independent generators of the corresponding stabilizer formalisms.
