Leveraging Human Reading Behavior for Keyphrase Extraction: A Webcam-based Eye-tracking Corpus

Purpose: Keyphrases are statistically and semantically important textual units that can also attract readers' attention during comprehension. However, existing keyphrase extraction (KPE) studies mainly focus on improving textual representation while largely overlooking human reading behavior. This study examines whether lightweight webcam-based eye-tracking features can improve KPE from Chinese academic abstracts in Library and Information Science (LIS). Methodology: To address the limited availability of eye-tracking data for Chinese academic reading, we developed a lightweight webcam-based data collection platform using the open-source SearchGazer library and constructed the Chinese LIS Eye-Tracking Corpus (CLIS-ET). Three character-level eye-tracking features, first fixation duration (FFD), fixation number (FN), and total fixation duration (TFD), were incorporated into KPE models to evaluate their effects on extraction performance. Findings: Eye-tracking features consistently improved KPE performance. The combination of FN and TFD achieved the best results on the Att-BiLSTM+CRF model, indicating that readers' fixation behavior provides useful signals for identifying keyphrases in academic abstracts. Originality/value: This study introduces a cost-effective webcam-based eye-tracking approach for KPE and presents CLIS-ET, a Chinese academic eye-tracking corpus containing FFD, FN, and TFD features. The results demonstrate the value of incorporating human reading behavior into keyphrase extraction. On Cosmological Correlators with Boundary Contributions

Cosmological correlators receive contributions from both field interactions in the bulk of quasi-de Sitter (dS) spacetime and boundary terms at the end of inflation. While most of the research efforts focus on the former, boundary contributions are normally believed to be negligible or related to field redefinitions that are associated with redundancies of the bulk Lagrangian. In this paper, we revisit this topic in the light of the cosmological bootstrap. We first establish the correspondence between boundary terms and field redefinitions for cosmological correlators. This result provides a set of criteria for determining when boundary terms lead to non-vanishing contributions to cosmological observables. Next, we apply this general understanding to concrete examples of correlators from massive-exchange diagrams, in both dS-invariant and boost-breaking scenarios. For theories with dS isometries, both IBP and field redefinitions are used to relate derivative and non-derivative exchange diagrams, from which the leading boundary contributions and IR-divergent pieces are extracted; we also derive recursion relations among higher-derivative exchange correlators. For theories with broken dS boosts, we use IBP and EoM to reduce exchange diagrams to a basis of independent templates, and then present a classification of the boundary contributions in the general effective field theory framework. These results pave the way for a more systematic investigation on the boundary physics of the inflationary spacetime.

Integrated Silicon Photonic Multichannel Optical Hybrid for Broadband Parallel Coherent Reception

We design and demonstrate a monolithically integrated silicon photonic multichannel optical hybrid for versatile broadband coherent reception, addressing the critical limitations of current wavelength multiplexed systems in scalability and power efficiency. The device combines a phase-compensated 90-degree optical hybrid with four robust three-stage Mach-Zehnder interferometer lattice filters, enabling 34-port functionality (two inputs and 32 outputs) for simultaneous analog and digital signal processing. Leveraging multimode interferometer designs, the chip achieves a broadband response with sub-dB passband uniformity across eight 200 GHz-spaced wavelength channels, while maintaining phase errors below 4 degrees over a 13.5 nm (1539-1552.5 nm) bandwidth with only 2.5 mW thermal tuning power.Experimentally, we validate its parallel-processing capability through RF channelizer reception (showing an average spurious-free dynamic range of 80.8 dB*Hz2/3 and image rejection ratio of 33.26 dB) and coherent optical communication (achieving 1.024 Tb/s data rate for 32-QAM signals with bit error rates far below the 20% SD-FEC threshold). The scheme enhances system performance with fully passive wavelength multiplexing integration, supporting high-fidelity uniformity and projecting scalability to 1.468 Tb/s. This work promises advancements in high-performance optoelectronic devices for next-generation AI-driven data centers and 5G-XG networks.

Interact or Twist: Cosmological Correlators from Field Redefinitions Revisited

In cosmology, correlation functions on a late-time boundary can arise from both field redefinitions and bulk interactions, which are usually believed to generate distinct results. In this letter, we propose a counterexample showcasing that correlators from local field redefinitions can be identical to the ones from bulk interactions. In particular, we consider a two-field model in de Sitter space, where the field space gets twisted by field redefinitions to yield a nontrivial reheating surface. We then exploit conformal symmetry to compute the three-point function, and show that the result takes the form of contact correlators with a total-energy singularity. Our finding suggests that in the effective field theory, a class of lower-dimensional operators, which were overlooked previously, may lead to nontrivial signals in cosmological correlators. As an illustration, we apply our result to cosmic inflation and derive a possibly leading signature of the Higgs in the primordial bispectrum.

Elko as an inflaton candidate

Elko is a spin-half fermion with a two-fold Wigner degeneracy and Klein-Gordon dynamics. In this paper, we show that in a spatially flat FLRW space-time, slow-roll inflation can be initiated by the homogeneous Elko fields. The inflaton is a composite scalar field obtained by contracting the spinor field with its dual. This is possible because the background evolution as described by the Friedmann equation is completely determined by the scalar field. This approach has the advantage that we do not need to specify the initial conditions for every component of the spinor fields. We derive the equation of motion for the inflaton and also show that this solution is an attractor. Finally, we examine the slow-roll parameters and the power-spectrum, showing that obtaining a behavior in agreement with observational requirements is hard to be obtained, unless one uses more complicated potentials, which may act a limitation of Elko inflation.

Mass dimension one fermions in FLRW space-time

Cosmelkology is the study of Elko in cosmology. Elko is a massive spin-half field of mass dimension one. Elko differs from the Dirac and Majorana fermions because it furnishes the irreducible representation of the extended Poincare group with a two-fold Wigner degeneracy where the particle and anti-particle states both have four degrees of freedom. Elko has a renormalizable quartic self interaction which makes it a candidate for self-interacting dark matter. We study Elko in the spatially flat FLRW space-time and find exact solutions in the de Sitter space. By choosing the appropriate solutions and phases, the fields satisfy the canonical anti-commutation relations and have the correct time evolutions in the flat space limit.
