On uniqueness of non-vacuum stationary axisymmetric type D spacetime

We study a family of the non-vacuum stationary axisymmetric type D metrics, where the two principal null directions are geodesic and shearfree. It is demonstrated that the conformal-to-Carter metric gives the most general form of this family, without any assumptions which are previously used by Ovcharenko and Podolsk\'{y} to arrive at this conclusion.

Gravitational emissions and light curves of quasi-periodic orbits in Schwarzschild spacetime embedded in a Dehnen-type dark matter halo

Timelike orbits in curved spacetimes encode intrinsic information about the background geometry and serve as critical probes for investigating gravitational theories and source distributions. In this study, we investigate strictly closed timelike orbits within a Schwarzschild spacetime embedded in a Dehnen-type dark matter halo. By solving the geodesic equations, we identify various configurations of these closed orbits and simulate their corresponding gravitational waves and electromagnetic light curves. Our findings reveal that the morphology of closed orbits is primarily governed by the ratio of the azimuthal period to the radial period. Notably, dark matter halo parameters such as the core scale and density parameters exert a significant amplification effect on the orbital scale, which further induces a discernible phase lag in the gravitational wave signals. Furthermore, within a specific parameter space, we discover a linear relationship between the number of peaks in the light curves and the number of orbital leaves. From a theoretical perspective, these findings reveal the multimessenger signatures of closed orbits, which may provide a potential theoretical foundation for establishing a connection between orbital dynamics and the surrounding dark matter environment.

Strong field gravitational lensing of particles by a black-bounce-Schwarzschild black hole

The gravitational lensing of relativistic and nonrelativistic neutral massive particles in the black-bounce-Schwarzschild black hole spacetime is investigated in the strong deflection limit. Beginning with the explicit equations of motion of a massive particle in the regular spacetime, we achieve the equation of the particle sphere and thus the radius of the unstable timelike circular orbit. It is interesting to find that the particle sphere equation can reduce to the well-known photon sphere equation, when the particle's initial velocity is equal to the speed of light. We adopt the strong field limit approach to calculate the black-bounce-Schwarzschild deflection angle of the particle subsequently, and obtain the strong-deflection lensing observables of the relativistic images of a pointlike particle source. The observables mainly include the apparent angular particle sphere radius, the angular separation between the outermost relativistic image and the other ones which are packed together, and the ratio between the particle-flux magnification of the outermost image and that of the packed ones. The velocity effects induced by the deviation of the initial velocity of the particle from light speed on the corresponding strong-field lensing observables of the images of a pointlike light source in the regular geometry, along with these on the strong deflection limit coefficients and the critical impact parameter of the lightlike case, are then formulated. The influence of the spacetime bounce on the Schwarzschild lensing properties of the images of a massive-particle-emission source in the strong field limit is also considered. Serving as an application of the results, we finally concentrate on evaluating the astronomical detectability of the velocity- and bounce-induced effects on the lensing observables by modeling two typical supermassive black holes as the lens respectively.

287,872 Supermassive Black Holes Masses: Deep Learning Approaching Reverberation Mapping Accuracy

We present a population-scale catalogue of 287,872 supermassive black hole masses with high accuracy. Using a deep encoder-decoder network trained on optical spectra with reverberation-mapping (RM) based labels of 849 quasars and applied to all SDSS quasars up to $z=4$, our method achieves a root-mean-square error of $0.058$\,dex, a relative uncertainty of $\approx 14\%$, and coefficient of determination $R^{2}\approx0.91$ with respect to RM-based masses, far surpassing traditional single-line virial estimators. Notably, the high accuracy is maintained for both low ($<10^{7.5}\,M_\odot$) and high ($>10^{9}\,M_\odot$) mass quasars, where empirical relations are unreliable.

Large Language Models for Limited Noisy Data: A Gravitational Wave Identification Study

This work investigates whether large language models (LLMs) offer advantages over traditional neural networks for astronomical data processing, in regimes with non-Gaussian, non-stationary noise and limited labeled samples. Gravitational wave observations provide an suitable test case, using only 90 LIGO events, finetuned LLMs achieve 97.4\% accuracy for identifying signals. Further experiments show that, in contrast to traditional networks that rely on large simulated datasets, additional simulated samples do not improve LLM performance, while scaling studies reveal predictable gains with increasing model size and dataset size. These results indicate that LLMs can extract discriminative structure directly from observational data and provide an efficient assessment for gravitational wave identification. The same strategy may extend to other astronomical domains with similar noise properties, such as radio or pulsar observations.

Machine Phenomenology: A Simple Equation Classifying Fast Radio Bursts

This work shows how human physical reasoning can guide machine-driven symbolic regression toward discovering empirical laws from observations. As an example, we derive a simple equation that classifies fast radio bursts (FRBs) into two distinct Gaussian distributions, indicating the existence of two physical classes. This human-AI workflow integrates feature selection, dimensional analysis, and symbolic regression: deep learning first analyzes CHIME Catalog 1 and identifies six independent parameters that collectively provide a complete description of FRBs; guided by Buckingham-$\pi$ analysis and correlation analysis, humans then construct dimensionless groups; finally, symbolic regression performed by the machine discovers the governing equation. When applied to the newer CHIME Catalog, the equation produces consistent results, demonstrating that it captures the underlying physics. This framework is applicable to a broad range of scientific domains.

Vector meson dominance in photon structure functions at small $x$ from holography

We investigate the photon structure functions via the photon-photon and photon-vector meson scattering within the framework of holographic QCD, focusing on the small Bjorken $x$ region and assuming that the Pomeron exchange dominates. The quasi-real photon structure functions are formulated as the convolution of the known U(1) vector field wave function with the Brower-Polchinski-Strassler-Tan (BPST) Pomeron exchange kernel in the five-dimensional AdS space. Assuming the vector meson dominance, the photon structure functions can be calculated in a different way with the BPST kernel and vector meson gravitational form factor, which can be obtained in a bottom-up AdS/QCD model, for the Pomeron-vector meson coupling. It is shown that the obtained $F_2$ structure functions in the both ways agree with the experimental data, which implies the realization of the vector meson dominance within the present model setup. Calculations for the longitudinal structure function and the longitudinal-to-transverse ratio are also presented.

Leading-order gravitational time delay of massive particles by a moving Schwarzschild lens

The leading-order gravitational time delay of relativistic neutral massive particles (e.g., neutrinos or high-energy cosmic-ray particles) caused by a moving Schwarzschild black hole with a constant radial velocity is investigated for the first time. On the basis of the equations of motion in the spacetime of the moving lens, we achieve a new unified formula for the travel times of relativistic massive and massless particles propagating from the source to the observer within the first post-Minkowskian approximation. The analytical form of the difference between the travel times of a relativistic massive particle and a light signal in this geometry, as well as that of two relativistic massive particles, is thus obtained in the weak-field and slow-motion limit. The influence of the radial lens motion on the leading-order Schwarzschild time delay of relativistic massive particles is then discussed. It is found that in the slow-motion limit, the radial lens motion towards the observer decreases the flight time of an ultrarelativistic massive particle, when compared with the case of no translational motion of the central body. Conversely, if the lens gets away from the detector radially under the same conditions, the propagation process of the particle will slow down and its flight time will thus increase in comparison with the Schwarzschild case. Finally, we analyze the magnitude of the full radial motion effect of the lens and evaluate the possibility of its astronomical detection by modeling three typical black holes as the lens respectively.

Leading-order deflection of particles by a moving Schwarzschild lens with a two-dimensional velocity

The gravitational deflection effect of relativistic massive and massless particles up to the first post-Minkowskian order caused by a moving Schwarzschild black hole with a two-dimensional equatorial velocity, which contains the radial and transversal components, is studied analytically, and a new unified formula for the deflection angle is achieved. The expression of the angle matches well with the results of the weak deflection of relativistic particles induced by a radially moving Schwarzschild source given in the literature, when the transversal component of the lens velocity vanishes. The joint velocity effect, which consists of the influences of the transversal and radial motions of the lens on the leading-order Schwarzschild deflection of the massive particles and light, is then discussed in the context of general relativity. We analyze the order of magnitude of this kinematical effect and evaluate the possibility of its astronomical detection subsequently.

Exploring Constraints on Axion-like Particles with the Observations for blazar Mrk 501

Oscillations between axion-like particles (ALPs) and photons in astrophysical magnetic fields can lead to irregularities in the high energy gamma ray spectra of blazars. The magnetic field within the blazar jet plays a crucial role in shaping these effects, with its strength in the emission region being an important parameter determined by multi-wavelength observations. However, the origin of the high energy bump observed in the spectral energy distribution of some blazars is a topic of debate, with both leptonic and hadronic scenarios providing plausible explanations that result in different magnetic field strengths in the emission region. In this study, we investigate the impact of magnetic field configurations on the constraints of ALP parameters. We consider both leptonic and hadronic emission scenarios for the blazar Mrk 501 and derive the corresponding jet magnetic field strengths. Additionally, we explore two jet magnetic field models: one with a toroidal component and the other with helical and tangled components. By analyzing the spectra of Mrk 501 observed by MAGIC and Fermi-LAT from 2017-06-17 to 2019-07-23, which are well-described by both emission scenarios, we derive constraints on the ALP parameters. Our results demonstrate that both the emission scenario and the magnetic field structure play a significant role in deriving these constraints, with the hadronic model leading to much more stringent limits compared to the leptonic model.

Teukolsky-like equations with various spins in a deformed Kerr spacetime

We study the wave equations with the various spins on the background of the Kerr metric deformed by a function of the radial coordinate, on which background we have studied the gravitational-wave equations previously. We obtain the unified expression of the Teukolsky-like master equations and the corresponding radial equations with various spins. We find that taking the separable gauge introduced in previous study simplifies the unified form. We also discuss the structure of the radial equation as an ordinary differential equation, such as the existence of the regular and the irregular singularities of the equation and the behavior of the solution around each singularity.

Gravitational deflection of light in polar-axis plane of a moving Kerr-Newman black hole

The gravitational deflection of light signals restricted in the polar-axis plane of a moving Kerr-Newman (KN) black hole with a constant velocity along the polar axis is studied within the second post-Minkowskian (PM) approximation. For this purpose, the Lorentz boosting technique is adopted to obtain the exact metric of a moving KN black hole with an arbitrary constant velocity in Kerr-Schild coordinates for the first time. Based on the weak field limit of the exact metric, we then derive the equations of motion of test particles constrained in the polar-axis plane of a moving KN source whose velocity is along the polar axis and collinear with its angular momentum. An iterative technique is utilized subsequently in the calculations of the null deflection angle up to the 2PM order caused by the moving lens, and this deflection angle is found to be spin-independent. Finally, we discuss the influence of the motion of the lens on the gravitational deflection and estimate the possibility to detect this kinematical effect. Our work might be helpful for future astronomical observations.

PRTGaussian: Efficient Relighting Using 3D Gaussians with Precomputed Radiance Transfer

We present PRTGaussian, a realtime relightable novel-view synthesis method made possible by combining 3D Gaussians and Precomputed Radiance Transfer (PRT). By fitting relightable Gaussians to multi-view OLAT data, our method enables real-time, free-viewpoint relighting. By estimating the radiance transfer based on high-order spherical harmonics, we achieve a balance between capturing detailed relighting effects and maintaining computational efficiency. We utilize a two-stage process: in the first stage, we reconstruct a coarse geometry of the object from multi-view images. In the second stage, we initialize 3D Gaussians with the obtained point cloud, then simultaneously refine the coarse geometry and learn the light transport for each Gaussian. Extensive experiments on synthetic datasets show that our approach can achieve fast and high-quality relighting for general objects. Code and data are available at https://github.com/zhanglbthu/PRTGaussian.

Scattering cross section of the long gravitino wave in Schwarzschild spacetime

We investigate the scattering of gravitino wave in a Schwarzschild gravitational field. Employing the simulating wave function method within the framework of perturbative techniques, we derive the differential scattering cross section for the gravitino wave in the long-wavelength limit. It is proven that the cross section of gravitino wave follows the same spin-dependent pattern as those of scalar, neutrino, and electromagnetic waves.

Cosmological bouncing solutions and their stability in teleparallel gravity

The cosmological dynamics in the early universe are investigated to explore the possibility of the sign reversal of the Hubble parameter as a key feature of non-singular bouncing cosmological solutions in higher-order torsion gravity. The self-consistent multiple cosmological regimes are studied, such as the accelerated expansion, ultra-relativistic, radiation-dominated, sub-relativistic, dust, and stiff matter phases, for three distinct parametrizations of the scale factor: power-law, exponential, and hybrid forms. In particular, five characteristic bouncing scenarios are analyzed: symmetric bounce, super-bounce, oscillatory bounce, matter bounce, and Type IV singularity-free bounce, so that the gravitational Lagrangian can be reconstructed to satisfy bounce conditions at the bounce time. It is found that each scenario requires a violation of the null energy condition, implying the presence of exotic matter with an effective equation of state to drive both the bounce and late-time cosmic acceleration. As a result, it is explicitly demonstrated that higher-order torsion gravity naturally incorporates the bouncing solutions without introducing ad hoc matter fields, providing a possible geometric framework for non-singular early universe evolution. Furthermore, the consistency of the bouncing solutions with the observational constraints of the cosmic microwave background and gravitational wave spectrum is shown, while offering testable predictions for primordial perturbations.

Partial Tidal Disruption Events by Intermediate-mass Black Holes in Supermassive and Intermediate-mass Black Hole Binaries

In the centers of galaxies, stars that orbit supermassive black hole binaries (SMBHBs) can undergo tidal disruptions due to the Lidov-Kozai mechanism. Nevertheless, most previous researches have predominantly focused on full tidal disruption events (FTDEs). In this study, we employ N-body simulations to investigate partial tidal disruption events (PTDEs) induced by intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) in SMBH-IMBH binaries, taking into account consideration the IMBH's mass, semi-major axis, and eccentricity of the outer orbit. Our findings indicate that, in comparison to FTDEs, the majority of tidal disruption events are actually PTDEs. Furthermore, we find that a significant number of stars experiencing partial disruption ultimately get captured by the IMBH, potentially leading to repeating flares. By comparing the period of the periodic eruptions observed in ASASSN-14ko, we find that PTDEs in a specific SMBH-IMBH binary system can align with the observed period if the SMBH has a mass of $10^7\rm{\ M_\odot}$, the IMBH has a mass smaller than approximately $10^5\rm{\ M_\odot}$, the eccentricity of the SMBH-IMBH binary exceeds approximately $0.5$, and the semi-major axis of the SMBH-IMBH binary is larger than approximately $0.001\rm{\ pc}$. Moreover, our model effectively accounts for the observed period derivative for ASASSN-14ko ($\dot{P}=-0.0026\pm 0.0006$), and our results also imply that some quasi-periodic eruptions may be attributed to PTDEs occurring around SMBH-IMBH binaries.

The post-Newtonian metric of a self-gravitating and collapsing thin spherical shell

We calculate the metric for a self-gravitating and collapsing infinitely-thin spherical shell under the theory of post-Newtonian approximation, and successfully recover the shell's energy-momentum tensor from the achieved metric. The post-Newtonian dynamic equations of the test particles inside and outside the shell are achieved respectively. It is demonstrated that the radial motion of the spherically-symmetric system can contribute to the second gravitational potential and the gravitomagnetic field, inducing the time-dependent gravitational effects.

Gravitational losses for the binary systems induced by the next-to-leading spin-orbit coupling effects

The orbital energy and momentum of the compact binary systems will loss due to gravitational radiation. Based on the mass and mass-current multipole moments of the binary system with the spin vector defined by Boh\'{e} et al. [Class. Quantum Grav. 30, 075017 (2013)], we calculate the loss rates of energy, angular and linear momentum induced by the next-to-leading spin-orbit effects. For the case of circular orbit, the formulations for these losses are given in terms of the orbital frequency.
