Joint Continuity and Selberg--ODE Equivalence for the $\mathrm{Sine}_β$ Pair Correlation Function

We address two questions posed by Qu and Valkó in their study of the pair correlation function of the $\mathrm{Sine}_β$ process. First, we prove that the pair correlation function admits a jointly continuous version in the inverse-temperature and spatial parameters on $(0,\infty)\times\mathbb{R}$, removing the restriction $β>2$ in their joint-continuity result. The argument uses a general observation: separate weak continuity of a family of probability laws, together with stochastic monotonicity in one parameter, implies joint weak continuity. Applied to the terminal value of the Qu--Valkó diffusion, their Palm-density formula then gives the result without differentiating the Fourier expansion. Second, for $β=2n$ we give a direct proof that the Qu--Valkó matrix-recursion power series agrees with the Selberg-integral representation recorded by Forrester. A Krawtchouk transform converts the Qu--Valkó system into a $(2n+1)$-dimensional differential system with parameter $-(n+1)$, while a centered Aomoto--Selberg trace system has parameter $n+1$. An explicit triangular differential intertwiner reflects the parameter $η\mapsto-η$. Matching the unique Frobenius branch of exponent $2$ gives exactly the Selberg normalization. As a consequence, every coefficient of the Qu--Valkó recursion is identified with an even centered moment of the corresponding Jacobi--Selberg trace statistic.

Fourth-Order Fusion Asymptotics for $\mathrm{Sine}_β$ Correlation Functions

We compute the fourth-order correction to the full-collision asymptotics of the correlation functions of the $\mathrm{Sine}_β$ process. For $m \ge 2$ and $mβ> 3$, the normalized correlation has an expansion through order $ε^4$, with an explicit rational coefficient depending on the centered profile only through its fourth power sum and the square of its second power sum. The remainder is $o(ε^4)$, locally uniformly in the collision profile. We evaluate the required fourth inverse moments of the Hua-Pickrell environment by finite-dimensional Ward identities and prove their convergence using characteristic-polynomial derivative bounds. A fourth-order expectation-Taylor lemma handles the full range $mβ> 3$ without requiring fourth moments of every analytic derivative. For general unitary ensembles with a $C^4$ confining potential and a regular bulk point, we prove convergence of the finite-particle fusion coefficients through fourth order and a joint second-order limit, using complex kernel universality and divided differences. This unitary result imposes no fused-environment hypotheses. For arbitrary $β$, we retain a conditional quadratic transfer criterion.

Critical and subcritical fusion asymptotics for Sine$_β$ correlation functions

We determine the first correction to the leading Vandermonde fusion law for the correlation functions of the Sine$*β$ process in the critical and and subcritical regimes $mβ\leq1$. When $mβ<1$, the normalized correction is of order $|\varepsilon|^{1+mβ}$, with a strictly negative coefficient given by an explicit gamma-function ratio times an absolutely convergent arithmetic-geometric mean deficit integral. At $mβ=1$, it is $-\frac{\sum*{i<j}(a_i-a_j)^2}{8m^2(2m+1)}\varepsilon^2\log(1/|\varepsilon|)+O(\varepsilon^2)$. For two merging points, the subcritical coefficient reduces to a gamma-function expression involving $\sec(πβ)-1$, and the critical logarithmic coefficient is $-1/160$. The argument starts from a geometric interpolation of circular-Jacobi weights. Selecting one particle in the interpolation derivative increases the fused charge by $β$ and leaves a strict positive-power moment margin in the remaining stochastic-zeta expectation. This yields an absolutely convergent one-particle identity and uniform control at the collision scale. The results resolve the critical and subcritical conjecture in the author's earlier preprint and complement its supercritical second-order expansion.

Second-order Fusion Asymptotics for Sine\b{eta} Correlation Functions

Recent work gives an all-$β$, all-order stochastic-zeta representation of the correlation functions of the $\Sine_β$ process and determines their leading Vandermonde asymptotics when several variables merge. We compute the first nontrivial correction throughout the regime $mβ>1$. If $a_1,\ldots,a_m$ are distinct real numbers and \[ V(a)=\sum_{1\le i 1/2$. The proof combines a finite-$N$ rotational Ward identity, exact Hua--Pickrell trace moments, compact moment bounds for the stochastic-zeta entire function and its derivatives, and a quantitative multivariate expectation--Taylor lemma. As a by-product we evaluate \[ \E_{\HP_{β,mβ/2}}\sum_x x^{-2}=\frac{mβ}{4(mβ-1)(2m+1)}. \] The pole at $mβ=1$ marks the boundary of the present second-moment argument and suggests a transition in the form of the next fusion correction.
