COAST: Congestion-Aware Start-Time Recommendations for Carbon-Aware HPC Jobs

High-performance computing (HPC) workloads consume substantial amounts of electricity, and their carbon emissions vary over time with the carbon intensity of grid electricity. However, uncoordinated shifting of carbon-aware HPC jobs toward low-carbon periods can concentrate recommended start times in the same time slots, creating congestion and eroding the resulting carbon benefits. This paper proposes COAST, a congestion-aware start-time recommendation mechanism that coordinates HPC jobs by balancing carbon savings against additional job delay and congestion in recommended start-time slots. COAST formulates each decision batch as an exact potential game, enabling best-response updates to converge to stable start-time recommendations. Under an idealized realization model that assumes each job can start at its recommended time, we conduct trace-driven simulations using public HPC energy data and historical grid carbon-intensity traces. The results show that COAST reduces estimated carbon emissions by 15.4\% with 1.5 hours of additional average start delay. Compared with carbon-greedy start-time recommendations, COAST reduces peak time-slot load by 23.8\% while preserving 93\% of the achievable carbon savings. These results quantify the potential benefits of congestion-aware start-time coordination for flexible, carbon-aware HPC jobs.

TSQAgent: Rating Time Series Data Quality via Dedicated Agentic Reasoning

Assessing the quality of time series (TS) data is fundamental yet inherently challenging due to the multifaceted nature of quality dimensions. Recently, large language models (LLMs) have emerged as a promising paradigm for TS quality assessment via pairwise comparison and per-dimension evaluation. However, existing approaches rely on manually predefined quality dimensions and purely text-based reasoning, leaving it unknown whether LLMs can identify truly relevant quality dimensions or perform grounded and quantitative quality comparisons. To investigate this, we construct TSQBench, a dedicated benchmark for evaluating LLMs on two progressive capabilities: (i) understanding and identifying relevant quality dimensions, and (ii) performing quality comparison under specific dimensions. Our analysis reveals that current LLMs consistently struggle with both dimension identification and evidence-grounded quality comparison. To address these limitations, we propose TSQAgent, a novel agentic reasoning framework for TS quality rating consisting of three collaborative roles: Perceiver for focused dimension selection, Inspector for dimension-wise quantitative analysis, and Adjudicator that aggregates and refines the final judgment. In particular, we introduce an agentic reasoning strategy that instills the ability to identify and prioritize the most relevant quality dimensions, and further propose an agent workflow equipped with external analytical tools to enable precise quantitative comparisons over selected dimensions. Experiments on both the proposed benchmark and eleven real-world datasets demonstrate that our framework not only substantially improves LLMs' capabilities in quality understanding and quantitative comparison but also effectively translates these improvements into better quality-aware data selection, leading to enhanced downstream performance and data efficiency.

VMDNet: Temporal Leakage-Free Variational Mode Decomposition for Electricity Demand Forecasting

Accurate electricity demand forecasting is challenging due to the strong multi-periodicity of real-world demand series, which makes effective modeling of recurrent temporal patterns crucial. Decomposition techniques make such structure explicit and thereby improve predictive performance. Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) is a powerful signal-processing method for periodicity-aware decomposition and has seen growing adoption in recent years. However, existing studies often suffer from information leakage and rely on inappropriate hyperparameter tuning. To address these issues, we propose VMDNet, a causality-preserving framework that (i) applies sample-wise VMD to avoid temporal leakage; (ii) represents each decomposed mode with frequency-aware embeddings and decodes it using parallel temporal convolutional networks (TCNs), ensuring mode independence and efficient learning; and (iii) introduces a Stackelberg game inspired bilevel scheme to guide the selection of VMD's two key hyperparameters. Experiments on three widely used electricity demand datasets show that VMDNet consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines.

LR-Robot: An Human-in-the-Loop LLM Framework for Systematic Literature Reviews with Applications in Financial Research

The exponential growth of financial research has rendered traditional systematic literature reviews (SLRs) increasingly impractical, as manual screening and narrative synthesis struggle to keep pace with the scale and complexity of modern scholarship. While the existing artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) approaches often often produce outputs that are efficient but contextually limited, still requiring substantial expert oversight. To address these challenges, we propose LR-Robot, a novel framework in which domain experts define multidimensional classification taxonomies and prompt constraints that encode conceptual boundaries, large language models (LLMs) execute scalable classification across large corpora, and systematic human-in-the-loop evaluation ensures reliability before full-dataset deployment. The framework further leverages retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to support downstream analyses including temporal evolution tracking and label-enhanced citation networks. We demonstrate the framework on a corpus of 12,666 option pricing articles spanning 50 years, designing a four-dimensional taxonomy and systematically evaluating up to eleven mainstream LLMs across classification tasks of varying complexity. The results reveal the current capabilities of AI in understanding and synthesizing literature, uncover emerging trends, reveal structural research patterns, and highlight core research directions. By accelerating labor-intensive review stages while preserving interpretive accuracy, LR-Robot provides a practical, customizable, and high-quality approach for AI-assisted SLRs.

WaveMoE: A Wavelet-Enhanced Mixture-of-Experts Foundation Model for Time Series Forecasting

Time series foundation models (TSFMs) have recently achieved remarkable success in universal forecasting by leveraging large-scale pretraining on diverse time series data. Complementing this progress, incorporating frequency-domain information yields promising performance in enhancing the modeling of complex temporal patterns, such as periodicity and localized high-frequency dynamics, which are prevalent in real-world time series. To advance this direction, we propose a new perspective that integrates explicit frequency-domain representations into scalable foundation models, and introduce WaveMoE, a wavelet-enhanced mixture-of-experts foundation model for time series forecasting. WaveMoE adopts a dual-path architecture that jointly processes time series tokens and wavelet tokens aligned along a unified temporal axis, and coordinates them through a shared expert routing mechanism that enables consistent expert specialization while efficiently scaling model capacity. Preliminary experimental results on 16 diverse benchmark datasets indicate that WaveMoE has the potential to further improve forecasting performance by incorporating wavelet-domain corpora.
