Simulating the emission source function in very peripheral relativistic heavy-ion collisions

We present a microscopic femtoscopic investigation of the space-time emission source in low-multiplicity (80--90\% centrality) $\text{Pb}-\text{Pb}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02~\text{TeV}$, using a hybrid transport framework coupling SMASH initial conditions, 3+1D viscous hydrodynamics (vHLLE), and a SMASH hadronic cascade afterburner. Access to the full space-time evolution of the produced particles allows for the direct reconstruction of emission source functions in both the Longitudinally Comoving System and the Pair Rest Frame. We study identical pairs of mesons ($ππ$, $KK$) and baryons ($pp$), as well as cross-species combinations, while explicitly isolating the contributions from primordial particles, hadronic rescattering, and long-lived resonance decays. Our analysis shows that simple Gaussian fits are inadequate for precision source analyses, whereas a combined Gaussian plus exponential parametrization better captures the compact core and the extended tail. Finally, the extracted Gaussian core radii, $R_{\text{core}}$, for our very peripheral collisions demonstrate an approximate $m_T$-scaling behavior rather similar to the one observed in pp reactions.

The ${\bar K}N$ interaction in higher partial waves

We present a chiral ${\bar K}N$ interaction model that has been developed and optimized in order to account for the experimental data of inelastic ${\bar K}N$ reaction channels that open at higher energies. In particular, we study the effect of the higher partial waves which originate directly from the chiral Lagrangian, as they could supersede the role of high-spin resonances employed in earlier phenomenological models to describe meson-baryon cross sections in the 2~GeV region. We present a detailed derivation of the partial wave amplitudes that emerge from the chiral SU(3) meson-baryon Lagrangian up to the d-waves and next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion. We implement a nonperturbative unitarization in coupled channels and optimize the model parameters to a large pool of experimental data in the relevant energy range where these new contributions are expected to be important. The obtained results are encouraging. They indicate the ability of the chiral higher partial waves to extend the description of the scattering data to higher energies and to account for structures in the reaction cross sections that cannot be accommodated by theoretical models limited to the s-waves.

Exotic Hadrons in the $Λ_b \rightarrow J/ψ\ ϕ\ Λ$ Decay

We study the weak decay of the $Λ_b$ baryon into $J/ψ ϕ Λ$, a process that is particularly well suited to analyze the physics of some of the recently observed or theoretically predicted exotic hadrons, as one expects to see their signature in all three final two-body channels. In the $J/ψ\, ϕ$ invariant mass spectrum we study the interplay between the $X(4140)$ and the $X(4160)$ resonances. The $J/ψ\, Λ$ mass spectrum may help to identify the strange partner of the hidden-charm pentaquark recently observed by the LHCb collaboration, the existence of which has been predicted by a chiral unitary approach. We conclude that this strange pentaquark has a good chance of experimental detection if it is present in the range between $4450-4500$ MeV. Finally, in the $ϕ\, Λ$ spectrum we expect a contribution from a dynamically generated resonance at around $2160$ MeV, but with the present model parameters there is little chance for its experimental detection.

$S=-1$ meson-baryon interaction and the role of isospin filtering processes

A study of the meson-baryon interaction in the $S=-1$ sector is performed, employing a chiral SU(3) lagrangian up to next-to-leading order (NLO) and implementing unitarization in coupled channels. The model is constrained by a large set of experimental data, paying a especial attention to processes that are sensitive to the NLO contributions, such as the $K^- p\to K^+Ξ^-, K^0Ξ^0$ reactions. The consideration of additional cross sections in single isospin channels, $K^-p\to ηΛ, ηΣ$, has been found to provide more homogeneous and reliable values of the low-energy constants, the stability of which has also been tested by the inclusion of explicit resonant terms. Predictions for new isospin filtering processes, like the $I=1$ $K^0_L p \to K^+ Ξ^0$ reaction that could be measured at the proposed secondary $K^0_L$ beam at Jlab, or the weak decay of the $Λ_b$ into a $J/Ψ$ and different meson-baryon pairs in $I=0$, available at LHCb, are presented. The measurement of such reactions would put valuable constraints on the chiral models describing the $S=-1$ meson-baryon interaction.
