Infraparticle states in the massless Nelson model -- revisited

We provide a new construction of infraparticle states in the massless Nelson model. The approximating sequence of our infraparticle state does not involve any infrared cut-offs. Its derivative w.r.t. the time parameter $t$ is given by a simple explicit formula. The convergence of this sequence as $t\to \infty$ to a non-zero limit is then obtained by the Cook method combined with stationary phase estimates. To apply the latter technique we exploit recent results on regularity of ground states in the massless Nelson model, which hold in the low coupling regime.

Bounds on the bipartite entanglement entropy for oscillator systems with or without disorder

We give a direct alternative proof of an area law for the entanglement entropy of the ground state of disordered oscillator systems---a result due to Nachtergaele, Sims and Stolz. Instead of studying the logarithmic negativity, we invoke the explicit formula for the entanglement entropy of Gaussian states to derive the upper bound. We also contrast this area law in the disordered case with divergent lower bounds on the entanglement entropy of the ground state of one-dimensional ordered oscillator chains.

Bounds on the entanglement entropy of droplet states in the XXZ spin chain

We consider a class of one-dimensional quantum spin systems on the finite lattice $\Lambda\subset\mathbb{Z}$, related to the XXZ spin chain in its Ising phase. It includes in particular the so-called droplet Hamiltonian. The entanglement entropy of energetically low-lying states over a bipartition $\Lambda = B \cup B^c$ is investigated and proven to satisfy a logarithmic bound in terms of $\min\lbrace n,\vert B\vert,\vert B^c\vert\rbrace$, where $n$ denotes the maximal number of down spins in the considered state. Upon addition of any (positive) random potential the bound becomes uniformly constant on average, thereby establishing an area law. The proof is based on spectral methods: a deterministic bound on the local (many-body integrated) density of states is derived from an energetically motivated Combes--Thomas estimate.

Low-energy Fock-space localization for attractive hard-core particles in disorder

We study a one-dimensional quantum system with an arbitrary number of hard-core particles on the lattice, which are subject to a deterministic attractive interaction as well as a random potential. Our choice of interaction is suggested by the spectral analysis of the XXZ quantum spin chain. The main result concerns a version of high-disorder Fock-space localization expressed here in the configuration space of hard-core particles. The proof relies on an energetically motivated Combes-Thomas estimate and an effective one-particle analysis. As an application, we show the exponential decay of the two-point function in the infinite system uniformly in the particle number.

Statistics of charge transport and unconventional time ordering

The statistics of charge transport across a tunnel junction with energy-dependent scattering is investigated. A model with quadratic dispersion relation is discussed in general and, independently, in the two limiting cases of a large detector and of a linear dispersion relation. The measurement of charge takes place according to various protocols. It is found that, as a rule, the statistics is expressed by means of time-ordered current correlators, differing however from the conventional ones in the ordering prescription. Nevertheless binomial statistics is confirmed in all cases.
