Reduction modulo p of crystalline Galois representations via {\mu}_p-equivariance

For a crystalline representation of the absolute Galois group of Q_p, with given Hodge-Tate weights, we obtain new constraints on the inertial weights of its mod p reduction. This allows us to formulate an explicit Serre weight conjecture, in the generality of L-parameters for unramified connected reductive groups over Q_p, and to prove the elimination direction of this conjecture. The proof uses prismatic techniques to show that the reductions modulo p of the Breuil-Kisin modules attached to crystalline Galois representations acquire a natural {\mu}_p-equivariant structure. Combining this with results on the geometry of the {\mu}_p-fixed points of affine Grassmannians leads to our new constraint.

Prescribed lifts of 2-dimensional representations

Let F be a totally real field, and let p be prime. Under standard Taylor--Wiles hypotheses, we show that an irreducible, 2-dimensional, totally odd mod p representation of the absolute Galois group of F admits lifts lying on arbitrary prescribed components of local deformation rings, allowing potentially semistable conditions with arbitrary regular Hodge--Tate weights.

A categorical p-adic Langlands correspondence for GL_2(Q_p)

Let p at least 5 be prime. We construct a fully faithful functor from the derived category of all smooth p-adic representations of GL_2(Q_p) (with a fixed central character) to a derived category of Ind-coherent sheaves on a stack of (phi,Gamma)-modules.

Modularity theorems for abelian surfaces

We prove the modularity of a positive proportion of abelian surfaces over $\mathbf{Q}$. More precisely, we prove the modularity of abelian surfaces which are ordinary at $3$ and are $3$-distinguished, subject to some assumptions on the $3$-torsion representation (a "big image" hypothesis, and a technical hypothesis on the action of a decomposition group at $2$). We employ a 2-3 switch and a new classicality theorem (in the style of Lue Pan) for ordinary $p$-adic Siegel modular forms.

The Ramanujan and Sato-Tate Conjectures for Bianchi modular forms

We prove the Ramanujan and Sato-Tate conjectures for Bianchi modular forms of weight at least 2. More generally, we prove these conjectures for all regular algebraic cuspidal automorphic representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbf{A}_F)$ of parallel weight, where $F$ is any CM field. We deduce these theorems from a new potential automorphy theorem for the symmetric powers of 2-dimensional compatible systems of Galois representations of parallel weight.

Cuspidal cohomology classes for GL_n(Z)

We prove the existence of a cuspidal automorphic representation $\pi$ for $GL_{79}/\mathbf{Q}$ of level one and weight zero. We construct $\pi$ using symmetric power functoriality and a change of weight theorem, using Galois deformation theory. As a corollary, we construct the first known cuspidal cohomology classes in $H^*(GL_{n}(\mathbf{Z}),\mathbf{C})$ for any $n > 1$.

Local geometry of moduli stacks of two-dimensional Galois representations

We construct moduli stacks of two-dimensional mod p representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic local field, as well as their resolutions by moduli stacks of two-dimensional Breuil-Kisin modules with tame descent data. We study the local geometry of these moduli stacks by comparing them with local models of Shimura varieties at hyperspecial and Iwahori level.

Components of moduli stacks of two-dimensional Galois representations

In a previous article we introduced various moduli stacks of two-dimensional tamely potentially Barsotti-Tate representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic local field, as well as related moduli stacks of Breuil-Kisin modules with descent data. We study the irreducible components of these stacks, establishing in particular that the components of the former are naturally indexed by certain Serre weights.

Modularity lifting theorems

Updated version of 2013 Arizona WInter School notes on modularity lifting theorems for for two-dimensional p-adic representations, using wherever possible arguments that go over to the n-dimensional (self-dual) case.

Moduli stacks of (phi,Gamma)-modules: a survey

This survey article is based on 10 lectures that we gave at the September 2019 Hausdorff School in Bonn on "the Emerton--Gee stack and related topics", and the sections correspond to the original lectures. We have retained the somewhat informal style of some of these lectures, but have filled them out with further details.

Moduli stacks of \'etale (phi,Gamma)-modules and the existence of crystalline lifts

We construct stacks which algebraize Mazur's formal deformation rings of local Galois representations. More precisely, we construct Noetherian formal algebraic stacks over Spf Zp which parameterize \'etale (phi,Gamma)-modules; the formal completions of these stacks at points in their special fibres recover the universal deformation rings of local Galois representations. We use these stacks to show that all mod p representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic local field lift to characteristic zero, and indeed admit crystalline lifts. We also discuss the relationship between the geometry of our stacks and the Breuil-M\'ezard conjecture.

Potential automorphy over CM fields

Let $F$ be a CM number field. We prove modularity lifting theorems for regular $n$-dimensional Galois representations over $F$ without any self-duality condition. We deduce that all elliptic curves $E$ over $F$ are potentially modular, and furthermore satisfy the Sato--Tate conjecture. As an application of a different sort, we also prove the Ramanujan Conjecture for weight zero cuspidal automorphic representations for $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbf{A}_F)$.

Abelian Surfaces over totally real fields are Potentially Modular

We show that abelian surfaces (and consequently curves of genus 2) over totally real fields are potentially modular. As a consequence, we obtain the expected meromorphic continuation and functional equations of their Hasse--Weil zeta functions. We furthermore show the modularity of infinitely many abelian surfaces A over Q with End_C(A)=Z. We also deduce modularity and potential modularity results for genus one curves over (not necessarily CM) quadratic extensions of totally real fields.
