Neutral pion photoproduction on protons in fully covariant ChPT with Delta(1232) loop contributions

We study the neutral pion photoproduction at near-threshold energies in fully covariant chiral perturbation theory up to O(p^3). When including only nucleonic virtual states in the model, the convergence is too slow. Therefore we test the model when introducing the Delta(1232) resonance as an additional degree of freedom. Some low-energy constants were fitted, converging to values in good agreement with those expected from literature.

Covariant ChPT calculation of the hyperon forward spin polarizability

We predict the values for baryon forward spin polarizabilities in fully covariant ChPT and including the virtual contributions of the spin-3/2 states. As the nucleon results are in good agreement with the experimental data and they do not depend on renormalization schemes, we extend the calculations to the hyperon sector.

Hyperon forward spin polarizability gamma0 in baryon chiral perturbation theory

We present the calculation of the hyperon forward spin polarizability gamma0 using manifestly Lorentz covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory including the intermediate contribution of the spin 3/2 states. As at the considered order the extraction of gamma0 is a pure prediction of chiral perturbation theory, the obtained values are a good test for this theory. After including explicitly the decuplet states, our SU(2) results have a very good agreement with the experimental data and we extend our framework to SU(3) to give predictions to the hyperons' gamma0 values. Prominent are the Sigma^- and Xi^- baryons as their photon transition to the decuplet is forbidden in SU(3) symmetry and therefore they are not sensitive to the explicit inclusion of the decuplet in the theory.

Threshold Neutral Pion Photoproduction on the Proton

The neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold has a very small scattering cross section when compared to the charged channels, which in ChPT is explained by strong cancellations between the lowest order pieces. Therefore it is very sensitive to higher-order corrections of chiral perturbation theory. We perform a fully covariant calculation up to chiral order p^3 and we investigate the effect of the inclusion of the Delta(1232) resonance as an explicit degree of freedom. We show that the convergence improves, leading to a much better agreement with data at a wide range of energies.

Pion-mass dispersion relation in the baryon sector

By looking at the complex plane of the pion-mass squared we establish a dispersion relation which the static quantities, such as baryon masses, magnetic moments, polarizabilities, should obey. This dispersion relation yields insight into the differences between the heavy-baryon and relativistic calculations in the baryon sector of chiral perturbation theory.

Background field approach to electromagnetic properties of baryons

We investigate the self-energies of particles in an external magnetic field $B$. The dependence is generally of the type $\sqrt{P(B)}$ with $P$ a polynomial in $B$ and the participating masses. The non-analytic point depends on the mass and charge constellations, is unproblematic for stable particles but constrains the linear energy shift approximation for resonances. We calculate the $B$ dependent self-energies of the nucleon and $\Delta(1232)$-isobar in the SU(2) covariant chiral perturbation theory and outline a way to obtain finite volume corrections to the nucleon anomalous magnetic moment without using the three point function method. We show that finite volume corrections might explain present discrepancies of lattice QCD and chiral perturbation theory results in the small pion mass region.

Transverse strange quark spin structure of the nucleon

We investigate the transverse quark spin densities of the nucleon with the lowest moment within the framework of the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model, emphasizing the strange quark spin density. Based on previous results of the vector and tensor form factors, we are able to determine the impact-parameter dependent probability densities of transversely polarized quarks in an unpolarized nucleon as well as those of unpolarized quarks in a transversely polarized nucleon. We find that the present numerical results for the transverse spin densities of the up and down quarks are in good agreement with those of the lattice calculation. We predict the transvere spin densities of the strange quark. It turns out that the polarized strange quark is noticeably distorted in an unpolarized proton.

Tensor properties of the nucleon

We report in the present talk recent results of the tensor properties of the nucleon within the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model. The tensor and anomalous tensor magnetic form factors are calculated for the momentum transfer up to $Q^{2}\leq1\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$ and at a renormalization scale of $0.36\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$. The main results are summarized as follows: the flavor tensor charges of the nucleon are yielded as $\delta u=1.08$, $\delta d=-0.31$, $\delta s=-0.01$, while the up and down anomalous tensor magnetic moments are evaluated as $\kappa_{T}^{u}=3.56$ and $\kappa_{T}^{d}=1.83$, respectively. The strange anomalous tensor magnetic moment turns out to be $\kappa_{T}^{s}=0.2\sim -0.2$, compatible with zero. We discuss their physical implications, comparing them in particular with those from the lattice QCD.

Anomalous tensor magnetic moments and form factors of the proton in the self-consistent chiral quark-soliton model

We investigate the form factors of the chiral-odd nucleon matrix element of the tensor current. In particular, we aim at the anomalous tensor magnetic form factors of the nucleon within the framework of the SU(3) and SU(2) chiral quark-soliton model. We consider $1/N_c$ rotational corrections and linear effects of SU(3) symmetry breaking with the symmetry-conserving quantization employed. We first obtain the results of the anomalous tensor magnetic moments for the up and down quarks: $\kappa_{T}^{u}=3.56$ and $\kappa_{T}^{d}=1.83$, respectively. The strange anomalous tensor magnetic moment is yielded to be $\kappa_{T}^{s}=0.2\sim -0.2$, that is compatible with zero. We also calculate the corresponding form factors $\kappa_{T}^{q}(Q^{2})$ up to a momentum transfer $Q^{2}\leq 1\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$ at a renormalization scale of $0.36\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}$.

Electromagnetic moments of quasi-stable particle

We deal with the problem of assigning electromagnetic moments to a quasi-stable particle (i.e., a particle with mass located at particle's decay threshold). In this case, an application of a small external electromagnetic field changes the energy in a non-analytic way, which makes it difficult to assign definitive moments. On the example of a spin-1/2 field with mass $M_{*}$ interacting with two fields of masses $M$ and $m$, we show how a conventionally defined magnetic dipole moment diverges at $M_{*}=M+m$. We then show that the conventional definition makes sense only when the values of the applied magnetic field $B$ satisfy $|eB|/2M_{*}\ll|M_{*}-M-m|$. We discuss implications of these results to existing studies in electroweak theory, chiral effective-field theory, and lattice QCD.

Tensor charges and form factors of SU(3) baryons in the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model

We investigate the tensor form factors of the baryon octet within the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model, emphasizing those of the nucleon, taking linear 1/N_c rotational as well as linear m_s corrections into account, and applying the symmetry-conserving quantization. We explicitly calculate the tensor form factors H_{T}^{q}(Q^{2}) corresponding to the generalized parton distributions H_{T}(x,\xi,t). The tensor form factors are obtained for the momentum transfer up to Q^{2}\leq1\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2} and at a renormalization scale of 0.36\,\mathrm{GeV}^{2}. We find for the tensor charges \delta u=1.08, \delta d=-0.32, \delta s=-0.01 and discuss their physical consequences, comparing them with those from other models. Results for tensor charges for the baryon octet are also given.

A dispersion relation for the pion-mass dependence of hadron properties

We present a dispersion relation in the pion-mass squared, which static quantities (nucleon mass, magnetic moment, etc.) obey under the assumption of analyticity in the entire complex $m_\pi^2$ plane modulo a cut at negative $m_\pi^2$ associated with pion production. The relation is verified here in a number of examples of nucleon and $\Delta$-isobar properties computed in chiral perturbation theory up to order $p^3$. We outline a method to obtain relations for other mass-dependencies, and illustrate it on a two-loop example.

Photoproduction of the Theta^+ and its vector and axial-vector structure

We present recent investigations on the vector and axial-vector transitions of the baryon antidecuplet within the framework of the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model, taking into account the 1/N_c rotational and linear m_s corrections. The main contribution to the electric-like transition form factor comes from the wave-function corrections. This is a consequence of the generalized Ademollo-Gatto theorem. It is also found that in general the leading-order contributions are almost canceled by the rotational 1/N_c corrections. The results are summarized as follows: the vector and tensor K^*-N-Theta coupling constants, g_{K^*-N-Theta}=0.74 - 0.87 and f_{K^*-N-Theta}=0.53 - 1.16, respectively, and Gamma_{Theta->KN}=0.71 MeV, based on the result of the K-N-Theta coupling constant g_{K-n-Theta}=0.83. We also show the differential cross sections and beam asymmetries, based on the present results. We also discuss the connection of present results with the original work by Diakonov, Petrov, and Polyakov.

Electromagnetic properties of the Delta(1232) and decuplet baryons in the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model

We examine the electromagnetic properties of the Delta(1232) resonance within the self-consistent chiral quark-soliton model. In particular we present the Delta form factors of the vector-current GE0, GE2 and GM1 for a momentum-transfer range of $Q^{2} \leq 1GeV^{2}$. We apply the symmetry-conserving quantization of the soliton and take 1/N_c rotational corrections into account. Values for the magnetic moments of all decuplet baryons as well as for the N-Delta transition are given. Special interest is also given to the electric quadrupole moment of the Delta.

Semileptonic hyperon decays in the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model

We investigate the semileptonic hyperon decays within the framework of the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model ($\chi$QSM). We take linear $1/N_c$ rotational as well as linear $m_s$ corrections into account and apply the symmetry conserving quantization. We present the results for the form factors $f_1(Q^2)$, $f_2(Q^2)$ and $g_1(Q^2)$ in addition to the semileptonic decay constants of hyperons. We also have calculated the radii and dipole masses of these form factors for all relevant strangeness-conserving and strangeness-changing transitions.

Axial-vector transitions and strong decays of the baryon antidecuplet in the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model

We investigate the axial-vector transition constants of the baryon antidecuplet to the octet and decuplet within the framework of the self-consistent SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model. Taking into account rotational 1/N_c and linear m_s corrections and using the symmetry-conserving quantization, we calculate the axial-vector transition constants. It is found that the leading-order contributions are generally almost canceled by the rotational 1/N_c corrections. Thus, the m_s corrections turn out to be essential contributions to the axial-vector constants. The decay width of the Theta^+ to NK transition is determined to be Gamma(Theta -> NK)=0.71, MeV, based on the result of the axial-vector transition constant g_A^* (Theta -> NK)=0.05. In addition, other strong decays of the baryon antidecuplet are investigated.

Vector and axial-vector structures of the Theta^+

We present in this talk recent results of the vector and axial-vector transitions of the nucleon to the pentaquark baryon Theta^{+}, based on the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model. The results are summarized as follows: K^{*}-N-Theta vector and tensor coupling constants turn out to be g_{K^{*}N Theta} = 0.81 and f_{K^{*}N Theta}=0.84, respectively, and the KN Theta axial-vector coupling constant to be g_{A}^* = 0.05. As a result, the total decay width for Theta^+ to NK becomes very small: Gamma_{Theta -> NK} = 0.71 MeV, which is consistent with the DIANA result Gamma_{Theta -> NK}=0.36 +- 0.11 MeV.

Vector transition form factors of the $N K^*\toΘ^+ $ and $N \bar{K}^*\to Σ_{\bar{10}}^{*-}$ in the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model

We investigate the vector transition form factors of the nucleon and vector meson K^* to the pentaquark baryon Theta^+ within the framework of the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model. We take into account the rotational 1/N_c and linear $m_{\rm s}$ corrections, assuming isospin symmetry and employing the symmetry-conserving quantization. It turns out that the leading-order contributions to the form factors are almost cancelled by the rotational corrections. Because of this, the flavor SU(3) symmetry-breaking terms yield sizeable effects on the vector transition form factors. In particular, the main contribution to the electric-like transition form factor comes from the wave-function corrections, which is a consequence of the generalized Ademollo-Gatto theorem derived in the present work. We estimate with the help of the vector meson dominance the K^* vector and tensor coupling constants for the Theta^+: $g_{K^{*}NΘ}=0.74 - 0.87$ and $f_{K^{*}NΘ}=0.53 - 1.16$. We argue that the outcome of the present work is consistent with the null results of the CLAS experiments in the reactions gamma n -> K^- Theta^+ and gamma p ->bar{K}^0 Theta^+. The results of the present work are also consistent with the recent experiments at KEK. In addition, we present the results of the $Σ_{\bar{10}}\to N\bar{K}^*$ transition form factors and its $\bar{K}^*NΣ_{\bar{10}}$ coupling constants.
