Structural Characterizations and Algebraic Realizations of a Family of Regular Integral Graphs

All the eigenvalues of an integral graphs are integers. Integral graphs are extremely rare. They form an asymptotically vanishing fraction $2^{-Ω(n)}$ among all graphs on $n$ vertices. It makes the construction of a new family of integral graphs a challenging task. Also, most of the known infinite family of integral graphs rely on Cayley graphs over Abelian groups. In this article, we introduce a new family of integral graphs obtained from the groups. The construction of our graphs from groups is different from the construction of Cayley graphs. A spectral uniqueness theorem is established, which shows that each member of the infinite family is determined by its adjacency spectrum among all finite simple graphs. We also present recursive constructions that generates larger members of the family from smaller ones, providing a scalable class of integral graphs. Finally, we investigate algebraic realizations of these graphs as complements of Proper Prime Order Element Graphs of finite $2$-groups and obtain conditions characterizing such realizations. We also observe that the graphs obtained from different non-isomorphic groups have cospectral graphs.

Structural and Spectral Properties of Prime Order Element Graph of Finite Abelian Groups

Given a finite group $G$, the \emph{Prime Order Element (POE) Graph} $Γ(G)$ consists of the group elements as the vertices, and two vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $o(xy)$ is prime. This paper presents a thorough structural and spectral analysis of the POE graphs associated with the finite Abelian groups of different types. The order of a finite Abelian group may be a prime or a product of primes, which influences the structure of POE graphs. The POE graph is connected when the order of the Abelian group is a square-free integer. The POE graphs of the other Abelian groups have multiple connected components. Some of these components are isomorphic to the POE graph of a lower-order group. We study various graph-theoretic properties of the components, including regularity and bipartiteness. Arranging the elements of the group in a number of particular orders, we observe the block structure in the adjacency matrix of POE graphs. It assists us in investigating the spectral properties of POE graphs. We explicitly derive the characteristic polynomials governing both integral and irrational eigenvalues, and compute the eigenvalues with multiplicity in terms of the structure of the graphs.

Prime Order Element Graph of a Group -- II

In this sequel paper, we continue the analysis of the prime order element graph $Γ(G)$ of a finite group $G$, where vertices are elements of $G$ and edges connect distinct elements $x, y$ satisfying $\circ(xy) = p$ for some prime $p$. Our investigation focuses on the adjacency and Laplacian spectra, planarity, and clique number of this graph. We conclude by outlining open issues and potential directions for future investigations.

Forbidden Subgraphs of Prime Order Element Graph

In this paper, we study different forbidden subgraph characterizations of the prime-order element graph $Γ(G)$ defined on a finite group $G$. Its set of vertices is the group $G$ and two vertices $x,y \in G$ are adjacent if the order of $xy$ is prime. More specifically, we investigate the conditions when $Γ(G)$ is perfect, cograph, chordal, claw-free, and interval graph.
