Robust Transceiver Design for K-Pairs Quasi-Static MIMO Interference Channels via Semi-Definite Relaxation

In this paper, we propose a robust transceiver design for the K-pair quasi-static MIMO interference channel. Each transmitter is equipped with M antennas, each receiver is equipped with N antennas, and the k-th transmitter sends L_k independent data streams to the desired receiver. In the literature, there exist a variety of theoretically promising transceiver designs for the interference channel such as interference alignment-based schemes, which have feasibility and practical limitations. In order to address practical system issues and requirements, we consider a transceiver design that enforces robustness against imperfect channel state information (CSI) as well as fair performance among the users in the interference channel. Specifically, we formulate the transceiver design as an optimization problem to maximize the worst-case signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio among all users. We devise a low complexity iterative algorithm based on alternative optimization and semi-definite relaxation techniques. Numerical results verify the advantages of incorporating into transceiver design for the interference channel important practical issues such as CSI uncertainty and fairness performance.

High-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study of the electronic structure of EuFe2As2

We report the high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy studies of electronic structure of EuFe2As2. The paramagnetic state data are found to be consistent with density-functional calculations. In the antiferromagnetic ordering state of Fe, our results show that the band splitting, folding, and hybridization evolve with temperature, which cannot be explained by a simple folding picture. Detailed measurements reveal that a tiny electron Fermi pocket and a tiny hole pocket are formed near (pi,pi) in the (0,0)-(pi,pi) direction, which qualitatively agree with the results of quantum oscillations, considering kz variation of Fermi surface. Furthermore, no noticeable change within the energy resolution is observed across the antiferromagnetic transition of Eu2+ ordering, suggesting weak coupling between Eu sublattice and FeAs sublattice.

Optimal effective current operator for flux qubit accounting for inductive effects

An optimal effective current operator for flux qubit has been investigated by taking account of the inductive effects of the circuit loop. The whole system is treated as two interacting subsystems: one is the inductance-free flux qubit consisting of three Josephson junctions and the other a high frequency LC-oscillator. As the composite system hardly affords one excessively high energy LC photon, an effective theory for the inductive flux qubit providing its physical variable operators has been achieved, which can take account of the inductive effects but does not include the additional degree of freedom for the LC-oscillator. Considering the trade-off between simplicity and accuracy, it has been revealed that the optimal effective current operator resulting in an error only on the order of $L^{3/2}$ provides an approximation of high accuracy, which is also verified numerically.

Identification of Nodal Kink in Electron-Doped (Nd$_{1.85}$Ce$_{0.15}$)CuO$_4$ Superconductor from Laser-Based Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy

High-resolution laser-based angle-resolved photoemission measurements have been carried out on the electron-doped (Nd$_{1.85}$Ce$_{0.15}$)CuO$_4$ high temperature superconductor. We have revealed a clear kink at $\sim$60 meV in the dispersion along the (0,0)-($π$,$π$) nodal direction, accompanied by a peak-dip-hump feature in the photoemission spectra. This indicates that the nodal electrons are coupled to collective excitations (bosons) in electron-doped superconductors, with the phonons as the most likely candidate of the boson. This finding has established a universality of nodal electron coupling in both hole- and electron-doped high temperature cuprate superconductors.

Numerical simulation of leakage effect for quantum NOT operation on three-Josephson-junction flux qubit

Superconducting flux qubits with three Josephson junctions are promising candidates for the building blocks of a quantum computer. We have applied the imaginary time evolution method to study the model of this qubit accurately by calculating its wave functions and eigenenergies. Because such qubits are manipulated with magnetic flux microwave pulses they might be irradiated into non-computational states which is called the leakage effect. Through the evolution of the density matrix of the qubit under either hard-shaped pulse or Gaussian-shaped pulse to carry out quantum NOT operation, we show that the leakage effect is not a serious problem for a flux qubit.

Diagonalizing the Hamiltonian of capacitively coupled superconducting phase qubits

Coupling qubits together towards large-scale integration is a key point for realizing a quantum computer. We study the capacitively coupled superconducting phase qubits using two diagonalization methods, which are very efficient to obtain the wave functions and energies of the bound states of such two-qubit system. The first diagonalization method is based on two-dimensional cubic approximation for the coupled system with wave functions of the eigenstates for harmonic oscillators as the bases of diagonalization, and also reveals the physics underlying it. The other one utilizes the Fast Fourier Transform to perform diagonalization with plane waves as the bases, and it can be easily extended to other problems with even high dimension.
