Coherent and dissipative coupling of multiple photon-magnon hybrids in a chiral microwave resonator
We demonstrate control between level repulsion and level attraction of photon-magnon coupling spectra in a chiral microwave-photon resonator loaded with a 2 mm YIG sphere. By systematically varying the coupling mode volume via the YIG position and the dc-field orientation, we tune the ratio between coherent and dissipative coupling strengths, $J/Γ$, and thereby switch between level repulsion and level attraction in the hybrid spectra. Full-wave electromagnetic and magnetization-dynamics simulations reveal multiple photon-magnon hybrid modes with distinct spatial overlap factors, which quantitatively account for gap sizes and their angular dependence. Strong nonreciprocity appears near $J/Γ\approx 1$, yielding 28.6 dB isolation ratio in agreement with a unified single-bath input-output model and full-wave simulations. Angular dependence of spectral characterization confirms a picture of the chirality-selection rule and our method of geometric tuning might be useful for considering reconfigurable on-chip isolators.
