CoQuant: Joint Weight-Activation Subspace Projection for Mixed-Precision LLMs

Post-training quantization (PTQ) has become an important technique for reducing the inference cost of Large Language Models (LLMs). While recent mixed-precision methods improve ultra-low bit quantization by preserving critical subspaces in high precision, they typically construct these subspaces relying solely on activation statistics. This ignores the fundamental nature of linear operations, where the output perturbation is jointly driven by both activation and weight quantization noise. In this paper, we propose CoQuant, a joint weight-activation subspace projection method. By theoretically modeling the expected output error, CoQuant formulates a closed-form weighted PCA solution that balances activation and weight covariances to select the optimal high-precision subspace. Extensive experiments on Llama-3.2 and Qwen2.5 models show that CoQuant consistently outperforms strong PTQ baselines in both WikiText perplexity and zero-shot common-sense reasoning accuracy. These results demonstrate that joint weight-activation subspace modeling provides a principled and effective direction for low-bit LLM quantization. Temporal-Aware Heterogeneous Graph Reasoning with Multi-View Fusion for Temporal Question Answering

Question Answering over Temporal Knowledge Graphs (TKGQA) has attracted growing interest for handling time-sensitive queries. However, existing methods still struggle with: 1) weak incorporation of temporal constraints in question representation, causing biased reasoning; 2) limited ability to perform explicit multi-hop reasoning; and 3) suboptimal fusion of language and graph representations. We propose a novel framework with temporal-aware question encoding, multi-hop graph reasoning, and multi-view heterogeneous information fusion. Specifically, our approach introduces: 1) a constraint-aware question representation that combines semantic cues from language models with temporal entity dynamics; 2) a temporal-aware graph neural network for explicit multi-hop reasoning via time-aware message passing; and 3) a multi-view attention mechanism for more effective fusion of question context and temporal graph knowledge. Experiments on multiple TKGQA benchmarks demonstrate consistent improvements over multiple baselines.

Reinforcement Learning Enhanced Multi-hop Reasoning for Temporal Knowledge Question Answering

Temporal knowledge graph question answering (TKGQA) involves multi-hop reasoning over temporally constrained entity relationships in the knowledge graph to answer a given question. However, at each hop, large language models (LLMs) retrieve subgraphs with numerous temporally similar and semantically complex relations, increasing the risk of suboptimal decisions and error propagation. To address these challenges, we propose the multi-hop reasoning enhanced (MRE) framework, which enhances both forward and backward reasoning to improve the identification of globally optimal reasoning trajectories. Specifically, MRE begins with prompt engineering to guide the LLM in generating diverse reasoning trajectories for a given question. Valid reasoning trajectories are then selected for supervised fine-tuning, serving as a cold-start strategy. Finally, we introduce Tree-Group Relative Policy Optimization (T-GRPO), a recursive, tree-structured learning-by-exploration approach. At each hop, exploration establishes strong causal dependencies on the previous hop, while evaluation is informed by multi-path exploration feedback from subsequent hops. Experimental results on two TKGQA benchmarks indicate that the proposed MRE-based model consistently surpasses state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches in handling complex multi-hop queries. Further analysis highlights improved interpretability and robustness to noisy temporal annotations.

A New Type of Adversarial Examples

Most machine learning models are vulnerable to adversarial examples, which poses security concerns on these models. Adversarial examples are crafted by applying subtle but intentionally worst-case modifications to examples from the dataset, leading the model to output a different answer from the original example. In this paper, adversarial examples are formed in an exactly opposite manner, which are significantly different from the original examples but result in the same answer. We propose a novel set of algorithms to produce such adversarial examples, including the negative iterative fast gradient sign method (NI-FGSM) and the negative iterative fast gradient method (NI-FGM), along with their momentum variants: the negative momentum iterative fast gradient sign method (NMI-FGSM) and the negative momentum iterative fast gradient method (NMI-FGM). Adversarial examples constructed by these methods could be used to perform an attack on machine learning systems in certain occasions. Moreover, our results show that the adversarial examples are not merely distributed in the neighbourhood of the examples from the dataset; instead, they are distributed extensively in the sample space.

Schema-R1: A reasoning training approach for schema linking in Text-to-SQL Task

Schema linking is a critical step in Text-to-SQL task, aiming to accurately predict the table names and column names required for the SQL query based on the given question. However, current fine-tuning approaches for schema linking models employ a rote-learning paradigm, excessively optimizing for ground truth schema linking outcomes while compromising reasoning ability. This limitation arises because of the difficulty in acquiring a high-quality reasoning sample for downstream tasks. To address this, we propose Schema-R1, a reasoning schema linking model trained using reinforcement learning. Specifically, Schema-R1 consists of three key steps: constructing small batches of high-quality reasoning samples, supervised fine-tuning for cold-start initialization, and rule-based reinforcement learning training. The final results demonstrate that our method effectively enhances the reasoning ability of the schema linking model, achieving a 10\% improvement in filter accuracy compared to the existing method. Our code is available at https://github.com/hongWin/Schema-R1/.

Classification of Power Quality Disturbances Using Resnet with Channel Attention Mechanism

The detection and classification of power quality disturbances (PQDs) carries significant importance for power systems. In response to this imperative, numerous intelligent diagnostic methods have been developed. However, existing identification methods usually concentrate on single-type signals or on complex signals with two types, rendering them susceptible to noisy labels and environmental effects. This study proposes a novel method for the classification of PQDs, termed ST-GSResNet, which utilizes the S-Transform and an improved residual neural network (ResNet) with a channel attention mechanism. The ST-GSResNet approach initially uses the S-Transform to transform a time-series signal into a 2D time-frequency image for feature enhancement. Then, an improved ResNet model is introduced, which employs grouped convolution instead of the traditional convolution operation. This improvement aims to facilitate learning with a block-diagonal structured sparsity on the channel dimension, the highly-correlated filters are learned in a more structured way in the networks with filter groups. By reducing the number of parameters in the network in this significant manner, the model becomes less prone to overfitting. Furthermore, the SE module concentrates on primary components, which enhances the model's robustness in recognition and immunity to noise. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared to existing deep learning models, our approach has advantages in computational efficiency and classification accuracy.

Inverse Moment Matching Based Analysis of Cooperative HARQ-IR over Time-Correlated Nakagami Fading Channels

This paper analyzes the performance of cooperative hybrid automatic repeat request with incremental redundancy (HARQ-IR) and proposes a new approach of outage probability approximation for performance analysis. A general time-correlated Nakagami fading channel covering fast fading and Rayleigh fading as special cases is considered here. An efficient inverse moment matching method is proposed to approximate the outage probability in closed-form. The effect of approximation degree is theoretically analyzed to ease its selection. Moreover, diversity order of cooperative HARQ-IR is analyzed. It is proved that diversity order is irrelevant to the time correlation coefficient $\rho$ as long as $\rho<1$ and full diversity from both spatial and time domains can be achieved by cooperative HARQ-IR under time-correlated fading channels. The accuracy of the analytical results is verified by computer simulations and the results reveal that cooperative HARQ-IR scheme can benefit from high fading order and low channel time correlation. Optimal rate selection to maximize the long term average throughput given a maximum allowable outage probability is finally discussed as one application of the analytical results.
