On a minimal Andô dilation for a pair of strict contractions

The isometric dilation of a pair of commuting contractions due to Andô is not minimal. We modify Andô's dilation and construct a minimal isometric dilation on $\mathcal H \oplus_2 \ell_2(\mathcal H \oplus_2 \mathcal H)$ for a commuting pair of strict contractions on a Hilbert space $\mathcal H$. In the same spirit, we construct under certain conditions a minimal Andô dilation for a commuting pair of strict Banach space contractions. Further, we show that an Andô dilation is possible even for a more general pair of commuting contractions $(T_1,T_2)$ on a normed space $\mathbb X$ provided that the function $A_{T_i}: \mathbb X \rightarrow \mathbb R$ given by $A_{T_i}(x)=(\|x\|^2-\|T_ix\|^2)^{\frac{1}{2}}$ defines a norm on $\mathbb X$ for $i=1,2$.

MnemoDyn: Learning Resting State Dynamics from 40K FMRI sequences

We present a dynamical-systems based model for resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), trained on a dataset of roughly 40K rs-fMRI sequences covering a wide variety of public and available-by-permission datasets. While most existing proposals use transformer backbones, we utilize multi-resolution temporal modeling of the dynamics across parcellated brain regions. We show that MnemoDyn is compute efficient and generalizes very well across diverse populations and scanning protocols. When benchmarked against current state-of-the-art transformer-based approaches, MnemoDyn consistently delivers superior reconstruction quality. Overall, we find that with such large-scale pre-training on (non-proprietary) rs-fMRI datasets, we get a highly performant model for various downstream tasks. Our results also provide evidence of the efficacy of the model on small sample size studies which has implications for neuroimaging studies at large where resting state fMRI is a commonly acquired imaging modality.

Neutrino self-interactions in post-reionization era: Lyman-$α$, 21-cm and cross-spectra

Neutrino self-interactions delay the onset of free-streaming in the early universe, leaving distinct, scale-dependent signatures on the matter power spectrum. We investigate these signatures in post-reionization 21-cm intensity mapping and the Lyman-$α$ (Ly$α$) forest at redshifts $z \sim 2$--$3.5$, and forecast the constraints achievable with upcoming surveys using Fisher matrix analysis. Modeling neutrino self-interactions through an effective four-fermion parameterization with coupling $G_{\rm eff}$, we compute modifications to the Ly$α$ and 21-cm auto- and cross-power spectra for both strongly interacting (SI$_ν$, $\log_{10}G_{\mathrm{eff}} = -1.77$) and moderately interacting (MI$_ν$, $\log_{10}G_{\mathrm{eff}} = -5$) scenarios. We then combine these with forecasts for a representative next-generation cosmic microwave background (CMB) mission to evaluate the capabilities of SKA1-Mid and PUMA. We find that the Ly$α$--21-cm cross-correlation provides a systematics-resilient probe of the interaction signal, and decisively breaks the degeneracy between the primordial scalar power spectrum amplitude ($A_s$) and $G_{\rm eff}$ that limits CMB only analysis, particularly for the SI$_ν$ mode. Furthermore, the CMB+PUMA combination emerges as the optimal survey configuration for both regimes, reaching 1$σ$ constraints of $\mathcal{O}(10^{-3})$ on $σ(\log_{10}G_{\rm eff})$ for the SI$_ν$ mode and $\mathcal{O}(10^{-2})$ for the MI$_ν$ mode. Compared to the CMB-only baseline, this represents an improvement of approximately one order of magnitude for the SI$_ν$ mode, and nearly two orders of magnitude for the MI$_ν$ mode. We show that this conclusion holds uniformly over the full range of coupling strengths from $\log_{10}G_{\rm eff} = -6$ to $-1.77$.

Function theory of the hexablock and applications to the tetrablock and Euclidean biball

The realization, interpolation, extension and Toeplitz corona problems are amongst the central themes in function theory of a domain in $\mathbb{C}^d$. The present work addresses these four problems for the hexablock $\mathbb{H}$, a domain in $\mathbb{C}^4$ arising in connection with a special case of $μ$-synthesis in $H^{\infty}$ control theory. We determine Schur-Agler class $SA(\mathbb{H})$ for $\mathbb{H}$ and find a realization formula for $\mathbb H$. With the help of this realization formula we state and prove interpolation, extension and Toeplitz corona theorems for the hexablock. As an application, we obtain analogous theorems for the Euclidean unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^2$. Moreover, we recover the existing same results for the tetrablock $\mathbb E$, another domain associated with the $μ$-synthesis, as consequences of the hexablock theory and in terms of the Schur-Agler class $SA(\mathbb{H})$ and admissible kernels on $\mathbb{H}$.

Function theoretic aspects of the symmetrized polydisc and generalization

We introduce Schur-Agler type class for the symmetrized polydisc $\mathbb{G}_d$ and establish a realization theorem for functions in this class. We state and prove an interpolation theorem on $\mathbb{G}_d$ with interpolating functions belonging to the associated Schur-Agler type class. Moreover, Toeplitz corona and extension theorems are established for $\mathbb{G}_d$. We also extend the realization, interpolation, Toeplitz corona and extension theorems to a more general symmetrized family of domains $Θ_d$.

ACT DR6 Insights on the Inflationary Attractor models and Reheating

We investigate the observational constraints on $α$-attractor inflationary models and their post-inflationary reheating dynamics in light of the latest CMB data from ACT DR6 combined with Planck18, BICEP/$Keck$ 2018, and DESI (P-ACT-LB-BK18). Focusing on both E- and T-type attractor potentials, we analyze how inflationary observables, namely the scalar spectral index $n_s$ and the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$, are indirectly influenced by reheating parameters such as the reheating temperature $T_{\text{RH}}$, the inflaton EoS $w_ϕ$, and consequently the inflaton's couplings to SM particles. We incorporate constraints from PGW overproduction via $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ bounds. Additionally, we include theoretical constraints from CW one-loop radiative corrections, as well as inflaton self-resonance, a non-perturbative effect that can occur even in the absence of inflaton-SM interactions and imposes a strong lower limit, particularly significant for $1/3\lesssim w_ϕ\lesssim 0.7$. Our analysis shows that E-models allow a broad range of reheating scenarios, including matter-like reheating ($w_ϕ=0$), whereas the T-model yields more restrictive results and remains viable only for $w_ϕ>1/2$ for all three non-gravitational interaction channels, $ϕ\to\bar{f}f$, $ϕ\to bb$, and $ϕϕ\to bb$ are considered. For stiffer EoS, an intermediate coupling window survives, bounded from above by CW corrections or $2σ$ observational limits, and from below by the combined PGW and self-resonance constraints. We derive updated bounds on inflaton couplings for both decay and scattering channels and identify parameter regions consistent with successful perturbative reheating. These results establish a robust connection between inflationary dynamics, reheating physics, and particle interactions, and provide concrete targets for upcoming precision CMB observations.

Cosmology with Intensity Mapping via Statistics Beyond the Power Spectrum in the SKAO Era

The cosmological distribution of neutral hydrogen (HI) during the post-reionization era is highly non-Gaussian due to the underlying non-linear structure formation, complex galaxy biasing, and potential primordial non-Gaussianity. One needs higher-order (beyond two-point) statistics to maximally extract the non-Gaussian information out of the 21-cm intensity maps. This chapter summarizes the potential of several higher-order statistics, including voxel intensity distribution, emission line stacking, probability density functions, $\ell_1$-norm, bispectrum, and various marked statistics. Additionally, image-based morphological descriptors, such as the Largest Cluster Statistic, local dimensions, and Minkowski functionals, etc., can potentially characterize the morphology and geometry of the cosmic web encoded in the 21-cm intensity maps. This chapter presents forecasts of the detectability of these higher-order statistics in the context of the future SKAO observations. These forecasts incorporate instrumental noise, observational effects, and, in some cases, foreground removal in their analyses. With its unprecedented sensitivity, the future SKAO 21-cm observations will enable us to measure these higher-order statistics more precisely, possibly helping to break degeneracies between astrophysical and cosmological parameters, and maximizing the science outcome from these surveys.

The Hexablock: a domain associated with the $μ$-synthesis in $M_2(\mathbb C)$

We introduce a domain named \textit{hexablock} in $\mathbb C^4$ and show that its origin is a special case of $μ$-synthesis in $M_2(\mathbb C)$, more precisely the $μ_E$-unit ball with respect to the linear subspace $E$ consisting of $2 \times 2$ upper triangular matrices. The hexablock is denoted by $\mathbb H$ and is defined by \[ \mathbb{H}=\left\{(a, x_1, x_2, x_3) \,\in\, \mathbb{C} \times \mathbb{E}\,\,\big\vert\,\, \sup_{z_1,\, z_2 \,\in\, \mathbb D}\left|\frac{a\sqrt{(1-|z_1|^2)(1-|z_2|^2)}}{1-x_1z_1-x_2z_2+x_3z_1z_2}\right| <1\right\}, \] where $\mathbb{E}$ is the \textit{tetrablock}, another domain in $\mathbb C^3$ associated with a different case of $μ$-synthesis, and is given by \[ \mathbb{E}=\{(x_1, x_2, x_3) \in \mathbb{C}^3 : 1-x_1z_1-x_2z_2+x_3z_1z_2 \ne 0 \ \text{for all } \, z_1, z_2 \in \overline{\mathbb D}\}. \] We show that two other objects in $\mathbb C^4$ namely, the $μ$-hexablock $\mathbb H_μ$ and the normed hexablock $\mathbb H_N$ naturally arise in the $μ_E$-unit ball and the norm unit ball of $M_2(\mathbb C)$, respectively and pave the way to reach the domain $\mathbb H$. A set of independent characterizations for the points in $\mathbb H_μ, \mathbb H_N$ and $\mathbb H$ are obtained. Geometric and function theoretic aspects of $\mathbb H$ are studied and its connections with the popular domains such as symmetrized bidisc $\mathbb G_2$, tetrablock $\mathbb E$ and pentablock $\mathbb P$ are explored.

Tracing Ultra Light Axions in Post-reionization, Lyman-$α$ and CMB Missions

Ultra-light axions (ULAs) are dark matter candidates proposed to resolve the small scale anomalies of the standard cosmological model. Due to their inherent quantum pressure, ULAs result in a distinct, scale-dependent suppression on the matter power spectrum, which can leave imprints on the upcoming observations. We explore such possibilities by forecasting on the post-reionization large scale structure (LSS) surveys and next-generation cosmic microwave background (CMB) missions. By utilizing the cross-correlation between 21-cm intensity mapping (SKA1-MID and PUMA) and the Lyman-$α$ forest (DESI-like), we explore possible signatures of ULAs in post-reionization surveys while mitigating instrument-specific systematics. The Fisher matrix analysis projects uncertainties on the fractional ULA abundance across a wide ULA mass range of $10^{-30}\text{ eV} \le m_a \le 10^{-20}\text{ eV}$, revealing an optimal detection sensitivity at intermediate masses around $m_a \sim 10^{-25}\text{ eV}$. Furthermore, while next-generation CMB mission alone can yield small projected errors on the ULA fraction compared to future LSS missions, a joint analysis of the DESI-like and PUMA cross-spectrum alongside CMB-S4-like missions estimates an error on the ULA fraction to be $\mathcal{O}(10^{-4})$ for $m_a\lesssim 10^{-28}$ eV, highlighting a significant improvement over standalone LSS and CMB missions.

Operators associated with a domain in $\mathbb C^4$ and applications

The hexablock is a domain arising from a special case of the $μ$-synthesis problem. We study the commuting operator tuples having the hexablock as a spectral set. Such a tuple is called a hexablock-contraction or simply $\mathbb H$-contraction. We characterize the unitaries and isometries associated with $\mathbb H$-contractions. Two different types of dilation results for $\mathbb H$-contractions are obtained. We find connection of this theory with the operators associated with the symmetrized bidisc and tetrablock, two other domains related to the $μ$-synthesis problem.

Realization, interpolation, extension on the pentablock and applications to $\mathbb D^2$, $\mathbb G_2$

We introduce Schur-Agler class for the pentablock $\mathbb P$ and establish a realization theorem for functions in this class. Then we prove an interpolation theorem for the pentablock with interpolating functions belonging to the corresponding Schur-Agler class. Also, we obtain an extension theorem for $\mathbb P$. Applying these results, we add a few new characterizations in the existing realization and interpolation theorems for the bidisc $\mathbb D^2$ and the symmetrized bidisc $\mathbb G_2$. Also, we give alternative proofs to the existing extension theorems for $\mathbb D^2, \, \mathbb G_2$.

A Toeplitz corona theorem for the pentablock and applications

We state and prove a Toeplitz corona theorem for the pentablock $\mathbb{P}$, a domain in $\mathbb{C}^3$ given by \[ \mathbb{P}=\{(a_{21}, \text{tr}(A), \det(A)) \in \mathbb C^3 : A=[a_{ij}] \in M_2(\mathbb C), \|A\|<1\}. \] By two different applications of this theorem, we obtain a few new characterizations in the Toeplitz corona theorems for the bidisc and the symmetrized bidisc.

Spectral constants for the quantum annulus

We find several new estimates for the spectral constants $K(\mathbb A_r)$ for which a closed annulus $\overline{\mathbb A}_r$ or closed polyannulus $\overline{\mathbb A}^n_r$ is a $K$-spectral set for operators in the quantum annulus $\mathbb Q \mathbb A_r$. We give two alternative proofs to an existing estimate of spectral constant. The first proof capitalizes a dilation theorem due to McCullough and Pascoe, while the second proof involves a certain variety in the Euclidean biball. For commuting and doubly commuting operators in $\mathbb Q \mathbb A_r$, we find upper and lower bounds for the smallest spectral constants.

Tracing Signatures of Modified Gravity in Redshift-Space Galaxy Bispectrum Multipoles: Prospects for Euclid

We study the galaxy bispectrum multipoles in the Hu-Sawicki $f(R)$ gravity model, where a scalar degree of freedom mediates a fifth force that is screened in high-density environments. The model is specified by $f_{R0}$, the present-day background value of the scalar field, which controls the strength of deviations from General Relativity (GR). Using perturbation theory, we compute the redshift-space galaxy bispectrum with the full scale- and time-dependent second-order kernels, incorporating corrections from the scale-dependent growth rate and nonlinear screening. Expanding the bispectrum in spherical harmonics, we analyze the sensitivity of the multipoles to modified gravity and forecast their detectability in a \textit{Euclid}-like survey. The monopole ($B_0^0$) and quadrupole ($B_2^0$) show the strongest signatures, with relative deviations of $2\%$--$8\%$ at $z=0.7$ and $k_1\simeq0.3\,h\,{\rm Mpc}^{-1}$ (largest side of the triangle) for $f_{R0}=10^{-5}$. Higher multipoles provide weaker but complementary signals. For \textit{Euclid}, we forecast signal-to-noise ratios up to $\sim30$ for the monopole and $\sim15$ for the quadrupole including the Finger-of-God damping and shot noise effect. These results demonstrate that bispectrum multipoles are a powerful probe of gravity, capable of breaking degeneracies with bias and velocity effects and strengthening constraints on deviations from $Λ$CDM.

NLP threshold corrections to W+jet production

We perform a detailed computation of the helicity-dependent next-to-leading power leading logarithms in W+jet production, originating from next-to-soft gluon radiation and soft (anti-)quark emissions. These contributions are systematically captured via helicity-sensitive spinor shifts and soft quark operators. The resulting expressions exhibit full agreement with a recently proposed universal structure of NLP corrections for processes involving the production of an arbitrary massive colourless final state in association with a jet.

Operators associated with the pentablock and their relations with biball and symmetrized bidisc

A commuting triple of Hilbert space operators $(A,S,P)$ is said to be a \textit{$\mathbb{P}$-contraction} if the closed pentablock $\overline{\mathbb P}$ is a spectral set for $(A,S,P)$, where \[ \mathbb{P}:=\left\{(a_{21}, \mbox{tr}(A_0), \mbox{det}(A_0))\ : \ A_0=[a_{ij}]_{2 \times 2} \; \; \& \;\; \|A_0\| <1 \right\} \subseteq \mathbb{C}^3. \] A commuting triple of normal operators $(A, S, P)$ acting on a Hilbert space is said to be a \textit{$\mathbb P$-unitary} if the Taylor-joint spectrum $σ_T(A, S, P)$ of $(A, S, P)$ is contained in the distinguished boundary $b\mathbb{P}$ of $\PC$. Also, $(A, S , P)$ is called a \textit{$\mathbb P$-isometry} if it is the restriction of a $\mathbb P$-unitary $(\hat A, \hat S, \hat P)$ to a joint invariant subspace of $\hat A, \hat S, \hat P$. We find several characterizations for the $\mathbb P$-unitaries and $\mathbb P$-isometries. We show that every $\mathbb P$-isometry admits a Wold type decomposition that splits it into a direct sum of a $\mathbb P$-unitary and a pure $\mathbb P$-isometry. Moving one step ahead we show that every $\mathbb P$-contraction $(A,S,P)$ possesses a canonical decomposition that orthogonally decomposes $(A,S,P)$ into a $\mathbb P$-unitary and a completely non-unitary $\mathbb P$-contraction. We find a necessary and sufficient condition such that a $\mathbb P$-contraction $(A, S, P)$ dilates to a $\mathbb P$-isometry $(X, T, V)$ with $V$ being the minimal isometric dilation of $P$. Then we show an explicit construction of such a conditional dilation. We show interplay between operator theory on the following three domains: the pentablock, the biball and the symmetrized bidisc.

Theory of $q$-commuting contractions-II: Regular dilation, Brehmer's positivity and von Neumann's inequality

It is well-known that a commuting family of contractions possesses a regular unitary dilation if and only if it satisfies Brehmer's positivity condition. We extend this theorem to any family $\mathcal T$ of $q$-commuting contractions with $\|q\|=1$ by showing the equivalence of the following three statements: $(i)$ $\mathcal T$ admits a regular $q$-unitary dilation; $(ii)$ $\mathcal T$ satisfies Brehmer's positivity condition; $(iii)$ $\mathcal T$ admits a $Q$-unitary dilation for a family of $Q$-commuting unitaries. We achieve the first part of the result by an application of Stinespring's dilation theorem on a particular completely positive map acting on a quotient algebra of a group $C^*$-algebra, where the underlying group is a free group, and the second part is obtained by an application of Naimark's theorem. Next, we find several cases when $\mathcal{T}$ admits a regular $q$-unitary dilation and establish a von Neumann type inequality for such a $q$-commuting family.

Primordial magnetic fields in the light of upcoming post-EoR Lyman-$α$ and 21-cm observations

The Lorentz force exerted by a primordial magnetic field (PMF) on the coupled baryon-dark matter system may enhance total matter power at small scales after recombination. In the post-reionization (post-EoR) era, a weakly scale-dependent PMF of sub-nG strength is thus expected to influence the Lyman-$α$ (Ly$α$) power spectrum, the 21 cm power spectrum, and the Ly$α$-21 cm cross-spectrum at scales $k\gtrsim 1\:h/\textrm{Mpc}$. We investigate the prospects of constraining the PMF sector via these three cosmological observables, by employing SNR estimation and Fisher forecast on the PMF amplitude $B_0$ and spectral index $n_{\rm B}$, for a next-generation DESI-like spectroscopic survey and two upcoming 21 cm facilities, namely SKA1-Mid and PUMA. Our results indicate the possibility of constraining both PMF parameters with $\lesssim10\%$ relative errors through the uncontaminated 21 cm auto-spectrum as well as the Ly$α$-21 cm cross-spectrum probed with the DESI-like+SKA1-Mid combination. Indicatively, the Ly$α$-21 cm cross-correlation via DESI-like+SKA1-Mid is predicted to constrain a fiducial scenario $B_0=0.8$ nG and $n_{\rm B}=-2.9$ with $1σ$ errors $ΔB_0\approx 0.07$ nG and $Δn_{\rm B}\approx0.02$. The DESI-like+PUMA setup is predicted to fare relatively worse due to its restriction to larger scales, resulting in comparatively one order of magnitude relaxed error bounds for similar fiducials. Since the Ly$α$-21 cm cross-signal is expected to be largely insensitive to foreground contamination (unlike the 21 cm auto-spectrum), it may serve as an optimal foreground-immune post-EoR probe to constrain a weakly scale-dependent sub-nG PMF via future DESI-like+SKA1-Mid observations.
