Quantum K-nearest neighbor classification algorithm based on Hamming distance

K-nearest neighbor classification algorithm is one of the most basic algorithms in machine learning, which determines the sample's category by the similarity between samples. In this paper, we propose a quantum K-nearest neighbor classification algorithm with Hamming distance. In this algorithm, quantum computation is firstly utilized to obtain Hamming distance in parallel. Then, a core sub-algorithm for searching the minimum of unordered integer sequence is presented to find out the minimum distance. Based on these two sub-algorithms, the whole quantum frame of K-nearest neighbor classification algorithm is presented. At last, it is shown that the proposed algorithm can achieve a quadratical speedup by analyzing its time complexity briefly.

Authenticated Multiparty Quantum Key Agreement for Optical-Ring Quantum Communication Networks

Quantum communication networks are connected by various devices to achieve communication or distributed computing for users in remote locations. In order to solve the problem of generating temporary session key for secure communication in optical-ring quantum networks, a quantum key agreement protocol is proposed. In the key agreement protocols, an attacker can impersonate a legal user to participate in the negotiation process and eavesdrop the agreement key easily. This is often overlooked in most quantum key agreement protocols, which makes them insecure in practical implementation. Considering this problem, the function of authenticating the user's identity is added in the proposed protocol. Combining classical hash function with identity information, we design the authentication operation conforming to the characteristics of quantum search algorithm. In the security analysis of the proposed protocol, quantum state discrimination is utilized to show that the protocol is secure against common attacks and impersonation attack. In addition, only single photons need to be prepared and measured, which makes our protocol feasible with existing technology.

Manifold Learning for Dimensionality Reduction: Quantum Isomap algorithm

Isomap algorithm is a representative manifold learning algorithm. The algorithm simplifies the data analysis process and is widely used in neuroimaging, spectral analysis and other fields. However, the classic Isomap algorithm becomes unwieldy when dealing with large data sets. Our object is to accelerate the classical algorithm with quantum computing, and propose the quantum Isomap algorithm. The algorithm consists of two sub-algorithms. The first one is the quantum Floyd algorithm, which calculates the shortest distance for any two nodes. The other is quantum Isomap algorithm based on quantum Floyd algorithm, which finds a low-dimensional representation for the original high-dimensional data. Finally, we analyze that the quantum Floyd algorithm achieves exponential speedup without sampling. In addition, the time complexity of quantum Isomap algorithm is $O(dNpolylogN)$. Both algorithms reduce the time complexity of classical algorithms.

Quantum Gaussian process regression

In this paper, a quantum algorithm based on gaussian process regression model is proposed. The proposed quantum algorithm consists of three sub-algorithms. One is the first quantum subalgorithm to efficiently generate mean predictor. The improved HHL algorithm is proposed to obtain the sign of outcomes. Therefore, the terrible situation that results is ambiguous in terms of original HHL algorithm is avoided, which makes whole algorithm more clear and exact. The other is to product covariance predictor with same method. Thirdly, the squared exponential covariance matrices are prepared that annihilation operator and generation operator are simulated by the unitary linear decomposition Hamiltonian simulation and kernel function vectors is generated with blocking coding techniques on covariance matrices. In addition, it is shown that the proposed quantum gaussian process regression algorithm can achieve quadratic faster over the classical counterpart.

Quantum Algorithms for Prediction Based on Ridge Regression

We propose a quantum algorithm based on ridge regression model, which get the optimal fitting parameters w and a regularization hyperparameter α by analysing the training dataset. The algorithm consists of two subalgorithms. One is generating predictive value for a new input, the way is to apply the phase estimation algorithm to the initial state |Xi and apply the controlled rotation to the eigenvalue register. The other is finding an optimal regularization hyperparameter α , the way is to apply the phase estimation algorithm to the initial state |yi and apply the controlled rotation to the eigenvalue register. The second subalgorithm can compute the whole training dataset in parallel that improve the efficiency. Compared with the classical ridge regression algorithm, our algorithm overcome multicollinearity and overfitting. Moreover, it have exponentially faster. What's more, our algorithm can deal with the non-sparse matrices in comparison to some existing quantum algorithms and have slightly speedup than the existing quantum counterpart. At present, the quantum algorithm has a wide range of application and the proposed algorithm can be used as a subroutine of other quantum algorithms.

Quantum Secure Multi-party Summation Based on entanglement swapping

In this paper, we present a quantum secure multi-party summation protocol, which allows multiple mutually distrustful parties to securely compute the summation of their secret data. In the presented protocol, a semitrusted third party is introduced to help multiple parties to achieve this secure task. Besides, the entanglement swapping of $d$-level cat states and Bell states is employed to securely transmit message between each party and the semitrusted third party. At last, its security against some common attacks is analyzed, which shows that the presented protocol is secure in theory.

Multi-party quantum key agreement protocol with authentication

Utilizing the advantage of quantum entanglement swapping, a multi-party quantum key agreement protocol with authentication is proposed. In this protocol, a semi-trusted third party is introduced, who prepares Bell states, and sends one particle to multiple participants respectively. After that the participants can share a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state by entanglement swapping. Finally, these participants measure the particles in their hands and obtain an agreement key. Here, classical hash function and Hadamard operation are utilized to authenticate the identity of participants. The correlations of GHZ states ensure the security of the proposed protocol. To illustrated it detailly, the security of this protocol against common attacks is analyzed, which shows that the proposed protocol is secure in theory.

Quantum Dimensionality Reduction by Linear Discriminant Analysis

Dimensionality reduction (DR) of data is a crucial issue for many machine learning tasks, such as pattern recognition and data classification. In this paper, we present a quantum algorithm and a quantum circuit to efficiently perform linear discriminant analysis (LDA) for dimensionality reduction. Firstly, the presented algorithm improves the existing quantum LDA algorithm to avoid the error caused by the irreversibility of the between-class scatter matrix $S_B$ in the original algorithm. Secondly, a quantum algorithm and quantum circuits are proposed to obtain the target state corresponding to the low-dimensional data. Compared with the best-known classical algorithm, the quantum linear discriminant analysis dimensionality reduction (QLDADR) algorithm has exponential acceleration on the number $M$ of vectors and a quadratic speedup on the dimensionality $D$ of the original data space, when the original dataset is projected onto a polylogarithmic low-dimensional space. Moreover, the target state obtained by our algorithm can be used as a submodule of other quantum machine learning tasks. It has practical application value of make that free from the disaster of dimensionality.

Quantum data compression by principal component analysis

Data compression can be achieved by reducing the dimensionality of high-dimensional but approximately low-rank datasets, which may in fact be described by the variation of a much smaller number of parameters. It often serves as a preprocessing step to surmount the curse of dimensionality and to gain efficiency, and thus it plays an important role in machine learning and data mining. In this paper, we present a quantum algorithm that compresses an exponentially large high-dimensional but approximately low-rank dataset in quantum parallel, by dimensionality reduction (DR) based on principal component analysis (PCA), the most popular classical DR algorithm. We show that the proposed algorithm achieves exponential speedup over the classical PCA algorithm when the original dataset are projected onto a polylogarithmically low-dimensional space. The compressed dataset can then be further processed to implement other tasks of interest, with significantly less quantum resources. As examples, we apply this algorithm to reduce data dimensionality for two important quantum machine learning algorithms, quantum support vector machine and quantum linear regression for prediction. This work demonstrates that quantum machine learning can be released from the curse of dimensionality to solve problems of practical importance.

Improving the security of multiparty quantum secret sharing based on entanglement swapping against participant attack

In a recent paper [Z. J. Zhang and Z. X. Man, Phys. Rev. A 72, 022303(2005)], a multiparty quantum secret sharing protocol based on entanglement swapping was presented. However, as we show, this protocol is insecure in the sense that an unauthorized agent group can recover the secret from the dealer. Hence, we propose an improved version of this protocol which can stand against this kind of attack.
